John Hawkins, early online blogger, has published his Twenty Best Quotes of the Last Decade. There are some great ones in there and a couple I would have left off. The one quote I think should have been there was from Iowahawk:

I’ll see Bones’ Jasmine Crockett and raise him Letitia James. 😉

Trump administration refers NY AG Letitia James for potential prosecution over alleged mortgage fraud.

WASHINGTON — New York Attorney General Letitia James — who infamously declared that “no one is above the law” when she was targeting Donald Trump — was hit with a federal criminal referral for instances of alleged mortgage fraud on Tuesday, according to a letter obtained by The Post.

Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director William Pulte sent the missive to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy AG Todd Blanche, alleging that James had “falsified records” to get home loans for a property in Virginia that she claimed was her “principal residence” in 2023 — while still serving as a New York state prosecutor.

That occurred in late August 2023, weeks before James began her civil fraud trial against the Trump Organization for overinflating the values of many of its properties, which ended in a $454 million judgment.

“Ms. James was the sitting Attorney General of New York and is required by law to have her primary residence in the state of New York — even though her mortgage applications list her intent to have the Norfolk, VA, property as her primary home,” the letter stated.

“It appears Ms. James’ property and mortgage-related misrepresentations may have continued to her recent 2023 Norfolk, VA property purchase in order to secure a lower interest rate and more favorable loan terms.”

In February 2001, James also purchased a five-family dwelling in Brooklyn — but has “consistently misrepresented the same property as only having four units in both building permit applications and numerous mortgage documents and applications,” the letter noted.

Under the heading of “Karma is a B!tch” I find it beyond amusing that she got gored by her own “Trump Real Estate Fraud” Petard. 😀

I have to head out early today – banking ‘n stuff in Pearland, then a mad dash to the pro-life center for my monthly rosary class. We’ll see if I have any attendees – I started out with about twenty, last month there were only three. I’m sure the current deportation orders are having their effect. I think most of these Spanish-speaking women are illegals. But they still deserve to learn how to love God and pray to him. Their legal status is above my pay grade, but serving God isn’t. And I have no idea which ones are legal or not.

So I’ll leave you with the C&C roundup and will check in later when I can:

Good morning, C&C, it’s Wednesday! In today’s astonishing roundup: despite lying media’s best efforts to cover for it, for some reason, weather modification shenanigans are finally getting their pants pulled down; EPA chief strikes at the heart of chemtrail denialism; Florida surgeon general piles on with diatribe about sneaky weather modifiers; federal workers get a second chance to take Trump’s deal and this time they are taking it; United Kingdom’s highest court issues the most surprising ruling that none of us ever expected and Matt Walsh smiled; Trump team makes progress on Ukraine war negotiations; Trump deploys key ally as special envoy; and Trump’s two-pronged strategy to defang the deep state through access and velocity.

BTW – I mentioned the “gettiing forked” yesterday.

    It’s about time.

The Trump administration has created a task force to ensure that men do not play in women’s sports, and to help enforce the president’s executive order against such competitions.

The task force, entitled the Title IX Special Investigations Team (SIT), will be a joint effort between the Department of Education and the Department of Justice (DOJ), according to an April 4 press release.

The Education Department announced that the task force had been created in response to a “staggering volume of Title IX complaints,” and that the purpose of the force is to “ensure timely, consistent resolutions” in order to protect female athletes from “the pernicious effects of gender ideology in school programs and activities.”

This is truly great stuff. The University of Austin is going to attract a lot of potential talent to their student body. I wish this school had been open when my daughter was ready for college.

No Social Justice Warrior admission essays accepted !

The University of Austin in Texas is implementing a “merit-first admissions” policy that automatically admits students who pass a certain standardized test score threshold.

The university announced on Monday that students who score “1460+ on the SAT, 33+ on the ACT, or 105+ on the CLT” will be “automatically admitted,” and those with even higher scores–totaling more than 1550, 35, and 113 on the SAT, ACT, and CLT respectively–could potentially receive the $100,000 Lonsdale Magaro Build Scholarship.

The university requires applicants to submit their high school transcript or a GED certificate, and notes that “[n]o essays, extracurriculars, or GPAs are considered” for students who pass the standardized test scoring thresholds.

In its announcement, the university called current college admissions in higher education “biased,” “broken,” and “unjust,” before presenting its merit-based admissions policy as a solution, saying: “We care about two things: Intelligence and courage.”

I’ve always been way behind the curve on understanding how the finances of the internet actually work regarding the social media world. Last night, suffering from Prednisone-induced insomnia, I came across this article in the Daily Mail and it kind of blew my mind. I had no idea this kind of money, outside of the Kardashians, was being made in Instagram.

No GJT, I didn’t post this just for you. (<:

How Paige Spirinac and Grace Charis Make More Money Than Rory McIlroy.

The 35-year-old, who boasts 3,262,549 followers on the platform, reportedly pockets $8,647 per post, according to data from RotoGrinders.com.

That’s over $1,500 more than closest rival DeChambeau, while Scheffler, despite being world No 1, trails by a staggering $5,000.

Yet, McIlroy still can’t compete with golf social media sensation Spiranac or her mini-me Grace Charis.

    plus,

And thanks to her [Spirinac] army of followers, the 32-year-old is said to make as much as $10,698 per post. That’s three times more than Justin Rose.

The hotshot phenom, freshman quarterback for the University of Tennessee Volunteers has been shown the door there even though he may be the most sought after prospect in college football. He’s a free agent now, so to speak.

If people thought the NCAA and college football was a racket before, they have seen nothing yet and it’s already ugly. High school kids with agents negotiating multi-million dollar contracts before they are old enough to go to college or legally sign a contract is the road to perdition.

The day before the winter portal ended in January, Iamaleava’s representatives asked for his deal to increase to the $4 million range, but Tennessee didn’t redo it.

“We weren’t going to flinch this time either,” a source told ESPN.

Iamaleava was making $2.4 million on a contract that was reported to be $8 million when he signed it. But he started receiving payments when he was still in high school, and the total value of the contract would have been closer to $10 million over the life of the deal, sources told ESPN.

If Russia and China, two nations who deeply distrust each other, were ever to cooperate by launching a Russian attack on Europe while simultaneously China takes over the sea lanes from the Indian Ocean to the Bering Straits of Alaska with thousands of warships, the USA won’t have a chance.

“This past autumn, Russia announced a 25 percent increase in defense spending, representing over 6 percent of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP). By some estimates, this means Russia is spending more on its military than all of Europe combined.”

The Army general outlined Russia’s methodical nationwide expansion of military industrial production through the opening of new manufacturing facilities and the conversion of commercial production lines for military purposes. The result is a reinvigorated Russian defense industrial base that is expected to roll out 1,500 tanks, 3,000 armored vehicles, and 200 Iskander ballistic and cruise missiles this year. By comparison, the U.S. constructs just 135 tanks per year and no longer builds new Bradley Fighting Vehicles.

Beyond equipment, Russia has vastly expanded its munitions production. The U.S. European Command estimates Russia can produce 250,000 artillery shells per month, which puts it on track to build a stockpile three times greater than the U.S. and Europe combined.

How is Putin achieving all this in short order? According to Cavoli, Russia’s economy is on a “war footing” and “will remain so for the foreseeable future.”

I had fourteen moms, many infants, and two very rambunctious little girls in my rosary class today. Three of the mothers had never prayed the rosary before, so today was very helpful to them. As I and my translator explained the rosary and gave some its history, the two girls were running in and out, giggling and talking loudly. Moms tried to calm them down, but they just wouldn’t be still.

In an attempt to calm them down, I called them over (while the translator was leading the prayers) and reached into my bag to give each of them a single decade rosary. They were delighted and they were (somewhat) quieter for about two minutes, and then the rosaries became new and delightful play toys. One of them was broken before I left. /sigh/ The little girls was about to cry, so I gave her a replacement. I called out adios as I left, and the moms all gave me big smiles and the little girl came over to give me a hug.

I consider myself paid in full.

Surprise, surprise one and all that it is windy again today, just like it has been for at least the last 6 or 7 weeks here. Spring weather would not be the same if that didn’t happen every year, flinging pollen everywhere from just about every plant/tree that has blossoms. And lots of the pollen arrives from farther north in Texas and some even comes from the Midwest on blasts of winter storms up there that eventually get this far south and bring it with them. Antihistamines to the rescue when it really gets miserable.

Out here in the country with many trees of various kinds means a long several months for all of them to get their leaves out to cover them so they no longer look like skeletons. The live oaks are the last ones to get them out, and before that can happen they have to drop all the leaves that hung on long through winter after other trees lost theirs in late fall. This makes for lots of cleanup of those leaves when other trees get leaves put out long before. The folks who help us with raking them up and hauling them out into the back pasture for an ever-larger pile have hauled four big piles into one huge pile twice. And that comes from just the trees around the house that sits on a big lot. The trees in our three pastures are on their own.

    Hell Britannia !

I know I said I was going to quit posting stories about the decline demise of the UK, but I am so astounded this once proud nation is committing it’s own assisted suicide.

The industrial town of Scunthorpe is home to Britain’s last operating steel mill. While the corporate sign in front might say “British Steel,” the company’s owner since 2020 is a Chinese industrial giant, Jingye, operating out of Beijing. Jingye claims to lose about £700,000 (about $925,000) each day keeping Scunthorpe’s furnaces running. The company says that’s due to high energy costs, environmental expenses, and competition from lower-cost producers around the world.

All big companies must deal with global market pressures, but Jingye’s other two loss-driving expenses are due to London’s insistence that Britain moves to a “net-zero” economy. Scotland’s largest oil refinery at Grangemouth closed earlier this year “after struggling to cope with soaring energy costs, carbon taxes and Labour’s ban on new North Sea oil and gas licences.”

I’m checking in before (hopefully) getting to confession. I had to leave earlier to help Hubby replace a refrigerator for one of our tenants; his died yesterday.

The mother who talked to the press today about how her daughter was brutally, brutally raped and murdered was heartbreaking. For once, the idiot media had the common sense to keep their mouths shut after the story was told.

I stepped outside just as the Amazon delivery guy was turning to leave. I saw the box on the porch and called him back.

Me: “Do you not see the delivery box here? (waving my hand towards the big black box) With all the signs on it?”
Him: (looking like he got caught with hands in the cookie jar) “I don’t think it’ll fit.”
Me: “Let’s see.” I open the door and the box fits easily, with plenty of room to spare.
Him: (looking even more busted) “mumble mumble”
Me: “We’ve had a lot of deliveries on the porch and sometimes even the button here on the side is pushed down…(I show him how to push the lock down)…to lock it, but no delivery inside the box.”
    Him: “Well, okay.”
Me: “That’s why all the instructions on the outside. Thank you for my delivery, though!”
    Him: “mumble…” and walking away

    ***

Maybe the dude can’t read. I don’t know. We’ll see how the next delivery goes. Putting the box where he did involved a few extra steps beyond the box and back, so it’s not like there’s a big energy or time savings involved.

I decided to treat myself to a movie.. haven’t done that in quite a while. I missed showings of the Christian movies, so I picked s thriller called “Amateur”. The trailer looked good.

Right now, I’m the only one in the theater. It starts in 20 minutes. This cinema has the fancy electronic recliner chairs, which are nice. And since I’m an old fart now, I got a break on the ticket price, which was also nice.

I just finished talking with two young men, thanking them for the thankless job of cleaning the theater. They said it’s not too bad now, but for a while the Minecraft movie showings were pretty messy. I said it’s a good thing they don’t have to clean up after something like “Rocky Horror Picture Show”.
