This building housed the first H-E-B (originally named the C.C. Butt Grocery Store) in Kerrville. Florence Butt opened the store in 1905 on the lower floor. Her family lived on the upper floor.

Florence handed management of the Kerrville store to her youngest son, Howard Edward Butt, in 1919. By 1930, Howard had expanded the company to 17 locations across South Texas and renamed it the H.E. The body of Israeli hostage Shiri Bibas has been returned to Israel after Hamas sent back the wrong one.

The Bibas family confirmed Saturday morning the human remains that were returned to Israel from the war-torn Gaza Strip on Friday have been identified as that of 32-year-old Shiri.

“Last night, our Shiri was returned home,” the family said in a statement. “Following the identification process at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, we received this morning the news we had dreaded — our Shiri was murdered in captivity and has now returned home to her sons, husband, sister, and all her family for rest.”

This guy said 42.5 million souls murdered by Mao. He thinks the database at the University of Hawaii by the late Rudolph Rummel is overstated. I have been citing Rummel for 20 years. He was the first prominent academic to compile worldwide human deaths caused by governments in the 20th century and came up with a number around 100 million.

In these pages nearly seven years ago, Timothy Snyder asked the provocative question: Who killed more, Hitler or Stalin? As useful as that exercise in moral rigor was, some think the question itself might have been slightly off. Instead, it should have included a third tyrant of the 20th century, Chairman Mao. And not just that, but that Mao should have been the hands-down winner, with his ledger easily trumping the European dictators’.

While these questions can devolve into morbid pedantry, they raise moral questions that deserve a fresh look, especially as these months mark the 60th anniversary of the launch of Mao’s most infamous experiment in social engineering, the Great Leap Forward. It was this campaign that caused the deaths of tens of millions and catapulted Mao Zedong into the big league of 20th-century murders.

You don’t need to tell me. I know very well, firsthand.

I didn’t have a crystal ball in 2021; I had the videos of the architects of these monstrosities admitting that’s exactly what they did.

We found that recipients of the Pfizer vaccine, those who’ve had two doses, have about 5-6-fold lower amounts of neutralizing antibodies… the sort of ‘gold standard’ private security antibodies of your immune system.

-Nonchalantly reported by vaxx proponent Dr. David Bauer of the Francis Crick Institute in London, December 2021

More proof that the COVID shots cripple, likely permanently, the immune system just broke from the noted conspiracy theorists at Yale School of Medicine.

Via Yale School of Medicine (emphasis added):

To explore potential pathobiological features associated with PVS [post-vaccination syndrome],we conducted a decentralized, cross-sectional study involving 42 PVS participants and 22 healthy controls enrolled in the Yale LISTEN study. Compared with controls, PVS participants exhibited differences in immune profiles, including reduced circulating memory and effector CD4 T cells (type 1 and type 2) and an increase in TNFα+ CD8 T cells. PVS participants also had lower anti-spike antibody titers, primarily due to fewer vaccine doses. Serological evidence of recent Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) reactivation was observed more frequently in PVS participants. Further, individuals with PVS exhibited elevated levels of circulating spike protein compared to healthy controls.

It’s hard not to love this weird guy.

Food fight! Yesterday Elon Musk did a Donald Trump, issuing a bunch of tweets that are likely causing some heads to explode inside NASA, Congress, and Europe.

First — and far less significant — Musk got into a war of insults with European Space Agency astronaut Andreas Mogensen over his comments in recent days accusing the Biden administration of delaying the return of the two Starliner astronauts “for political reasons.” Mogensen accused Musk lying about this, and Musk responded by calling Mogenson “fully retarded” and an “idiot,” adding that “SpaceX could have brought them back several months ago. I OFFERED THIS DIRECTLY to the Biden administration and they refused. Return WAS pushed back for political reasons.”

Since Musk was there and Mogensen was not, it seems Musk won that battle. NASA meanwhile issued a mild statement saying everything it has done has been to maximize safety, a statement that matches the facts quite accurately.

Then Musk — on a far more important topic — stirred the pot more by tweeting his belief that ISS should be retired now.

The United States should consider the creation of a ‘Gaza Canal’ between the Mediterranean Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba.

Such a project could have myriad benefits, including:

    alleviate maritime traffic congestion and decrease shipping times between the Mediterranean and the Red Sea;

    lower regional transit costs due to direct competition with the Suez Canal;

    spur growth in southern Israel, Jordan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia;

    improve Israeli-Arab relations; and

provide a strategic alternative to the Suez Canal if it were compromised during potential great power conflict or terrorist attack.

You can’t prevent disastrous forest fires with environuts running to leftist judges every week and then blaming the whole thing on “climate change”.

Researchers from the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado Boulder and the U.S. Forest Service’s Rocky Mountain Research Station compared wildfire frequency across two periods: 1600 to 1880 and 1984 to 2022. Using data from 1,850 tree-ring records in historically burned areas, they assessed past fire activity and compared it with modern fire perimeter maps from Canada and the United States.

The findings show modern-day fires are much less frequent than they were in past centuries, despite recent record-breaking fire years, such as 2020. The results also reveal that much of the continent is in a substantial “fire deficit,” experiencing about 20 percent as much fire as in the past. On average, larger areas of land burned from fires each year before 1880 compared to 1984-2022. This deficit allows fuel to build up over time, creating conditions for more severe fires.

plus I’m not so sure livestock grazing is a real problem here but,

The disruption of traditional burning practices, widespread livestock grazing, and later suppression of human and lightning-ignited fires have prevented beneficial forest fires from igniting across the U.S over the past century. This has destabilized forests that evolved with and are adapted to fire. Today’s higher-severity wildfires are more likely to harm people and communities while transforming forests into other vegetation types such as shrublands.

A quick cultural note… As I was sitting here praying my rosary, a young black guy came over to find a plug to charge his phone. We spoke briefly, and as he walked away, out of the clear blue, he praised Trump.

The fact that he just volunteered his approval of Trump spoke volumes about his enthusiasm for what he’s doing. “I believe he can make things better,” he said as he walked outside.

Trump has obviously made inroads into the traditional Democrat voter base.

The working man has known for a long time that the Ds are trouble. The penetration into the black community is devastating to the Ds. As more and more blacks wake up to the insanity of the left, they will migrate over to the Rs. “Educated” black wimminzes will likely hold out the longest due to the brainwashing of the universities and the remnants of Affirmative Action and DEI policies benefitting them. If Trump and Co, can start producing surpluses and cutting the size and waste of the gov’t, the Ds could be reduced to a small minority party for the next 50 years or until they remove their collective heads from their bodily exits.

Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) can be induced by any outside factor. HIV is the one everyone associates with it, but it can be caused by radiation/chemotherapy treatments, Pfizer/Moderna fake vaccines or other factors. The concept of AIDS has been around long before sexually transmitted HIV appeared.

Healthline is one big lying cesspool. I quit reading them when I realized they were using terms like “chestfeeders” and “birthing person”. The article you cite is 2-1/2 years old. I dare them to republish it now and if they were an ethical group they would retract it and apologize for being so stupid.

Here is Alan Berenson this week.

This is bad news. Very bad.

A Yale University team led by a top immunologist has found that some people who received the Covid vaccines have damage to their immune systems, as well as high and rising levels of spike protein in their blood. The researchers released the findings Wednesday in a “preprint” and hope to publish it soon in a peer-reviewed journal.

How often these problems occur or if the immune system damage might open people to infections is unclear as yet. But immune system damage the researchers found is similar though not identical to changes caused by HIV, the human immunodeficiency virus, that can eventually lead to AIDS.

The researchers also found Covid spike protein — the protein mRNA Covid jabs from Pfizer and Moderna cause our cells to make — in the blood of patients up to two years after vaccination. I first wrote about that finding in December, but it looks even more serious now that the preprint is out.

Good rainy and wet afternoon, Hamsters

The 37 at 6am has wobbled up to 40 now with some much lighter sky to the west of us that hopefully is coming this way minus rain. It is miserable outside for man or beast.

A hard-working gray squirrel has helped himself to some parts of my fabric floral arrangements that sat outside on our covered back porch to have something nice to be seen on nasty days like this. Said squirrel took several bites out of it and took them away only to come back and looked for more, except spouse had just taken it down and put it in the garage.

Squirrel knew what it had taken was not edible, so it must have needed something to make a shelter for itself or mate. Never to be outdone, it came back to the porch and took out several pieces of a hanging basket arrangement of the same flowers and flew off in the same direction it had previously gone with the other pieces. Could tell he had been there again, as its basket was still swinging around from being pulled on to get more goodies out of it.

All the while this was going on, Purrscilla kitty was watching it on the inside through the big kitchen window. And now oops, that much brighter sky to the west is full of rain that has moved in over us. We do not need it.

Another story on the the blockbuster Yale Medical School Covid study. Dr Akiko Iwasaki is the kind of immigrant I am proud to welcome.

For years, thousands of Americans who suffered debilitating side effects after getting the Covid vaccine were told there was no evidence the shot was linked.

Some were branded antivaxxers, others told their symptoms were imagined or related to other conditions, like long Covid.

    But that changed this week.

On Wednesday, a team from Yale University known for their rigorous work revealed the mRNA shots can cause a previously unknown condition known as ‘post-vaccination syndrome.’

The syndrome appears to cause brain fog, dizziness, tinnitus, extreme fatigue and biological changes to patients’ immune systems.

Well that didn’t take long. Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, was confirmed on Wednesday. This morning, the NSSF’s Larry Keane tweeted that Commerce will end its “pause” on small arms and related exports that the Biden administration enacted as a sop to the gun control industry.

To refresh your memory, whoever was really in charge during the Biden years had the Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security announce a “90-day pause” in small arms exports in October of 2023. Commerce claimed that the export pause was to “assess current firearm export control review policies to determine whether any changes are warranted to advance U.S. national security and foreign policy interests.”

That, of course, was a giant, steaming load of hoplophobic bullshit. The export pause was yet another shot aimed directly at an industry that the desiccated husk who was propped up behind the Resolute Desk had once described as “the enemy.” That 90-day pause lasted for six months until, in April of 2024, Commerce announced that the pause would be permanent.

Plenty of gun news today !

Kash Patel to head up ATF.

It doesn’t matter who President Trump names to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the (now formerly government-funded) gun control lobby will oppose them. As if newly-confirmed Director Kash Patel doesn’t have his hands full already at the Federal Bureau of Investigation after being sworn in on Friday, administration sources say Donald Trump plans to now name him acting director ATF.

Folks in flyover country may be able to hear the wails and tearing of clothing all the way from DC at this news. Gun control activists, lobbyists, and other were already traumatized by the firing of ATF chief counsel Pamela Hicks. Patel in charge of the federal firearms regulator could well touch off a complete meltdown.

  28. Texpat Avatar
    Texpat

Dismantle the ATF. Demolish the headquarters. Haul off the rubble and salt the soil.

ATF has been setting up covert facial recognition at gun shows, gun stores and independent FFL dealers.

Recent revelations confirm that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) has been aggressively expanding its use of facial recognition technology, raising significant concerns about mass surveillance and unconstitutional tracking of law-abiding gun owners.

But now, explosive new reports indicate that this same technology played a role in identifying the would-be assassin of former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, 2024—an event that shocked the nation and placed increased scrutiny on the ATF’s secretive surveillance tactics.

For years, gun rights advocates have warned that the ATF’s use of facial recognition would lead to mass surveillance of American citizens—particularly those who exercise their Second Amendment rights. Despite repeated claims that the ATF does not engage in biometric tracking, a 2021 Government Accountability Office (GAO) report revealed that between October 2019 and March 2022, the ATF conducted at least 549 facial recognition searches.

Texas gun owners just got some major news out of Austin—State Senator Bryan Hughes has filed SB 1362, the “Anti-Red Flag Act,” to ban red flag-style gun confiscation laws in Texas.

This legislation is significant not just because it would prohibit any attempts to strip Texans of their firearms without due process, but also because Senator Hughes is Chairman of the State Affairs Committee, which is the Senate’s primary committee responsible for handling gun-related bills. This means SB 1362 is primed for a committee hearing and a strong push through the Texas Legislature, especially since the committee is made up of ten Republicans and only one Democrat.

Additionally, SB 1362 is identical to HB 162, which was filed by Rep. Briscoe Cain, making this a perfect companion bill to ensure that Texas rejects any and all forms of red flag-style gun confiscation — if leadership in both chambers takes action.

I find it interesting that the left constantly accuses the right of being stupid, racist, misogynist, or some other character flaw and the right typically spends the rest of the time trying to defend against the false charge. It is ever more clear to me that the Ds are the ones with the character flaws, they know it, we know it and they know that we know it; yet we never accuse them of the blatantly obvious. Perhaps those genuine character flaws and malevolent intentions are finally going to be called out in the open in the near future.

There are a whole bunch of leftist, drifting, slimeballs that need to go to prison, state and federal judges included. I just don’t want the pendulum to swing too far and I don’t want the left, should they ever regain power G-D FORBID, to think they can just arrest everyone who offends them.

I had a cute moment today. I attended mass while I was in Dallas, and I was sitting at the back of the room. A mom with her two-year-old son came and sat next to me. He was a little fidgety and stuff, but he was really cute. He avoided looking at me. That’s normal for little kids, they don’t always cotton to strangers right away. When it came time for the collection, though, I asked the mother quietly if her son would like a dollar to put into the basket. She whispered back that he would absolutely love that. I pulled out a dollar and gave it to him, and he proudly put it into the basket. For all the rest of the mass, he kept looking at me and smiling. And that made my whole morning.

I hear pachapapa isn’t doing well, either. I am trying hard to be Christian in my outlook, and I’m not alone. I just finished a lesson with my church sisters, and at the end we discussed which prayer to pray for the Pope. We settled on a prayer for the conversion of his soul and for the dying.

Yeah, he ain’t to popular in the traditional Catholic world..
