So I woke up at 2am in my chair because the CBS overnight national news program is saying something about a new New Jersey fire in Bergen County.
I bolted upright….Bergen County!!!!…That’s Texpat!!!
Digging around on the internet for local news stories I have determined that the fire is in the Palisades area about a mile north of the George Washington Bridge into NYC. Texpat is about 12 minutes west of the bridge. I distinctly remember Texpat pointing out the shear cliffs of the Palisades during my recent visit.
The fire area seems to be in a non-residential area where the cliffs drop off into the Hudson River – an impossibly difficult area to fight a fire.
Paging Texpat. Please check in. Is the smoke bad in Maywood?

I notice that the banner at the top of the blog is no longer a live link to the main index page which shows the headings of the current and the past two days.
I often used that link.-
It was when I sat down here and yesterday’s page was still up. I clicked on it and it worked but it doesn’t work now. I’m sure our trusty Squawkster will fix it when he decide to get up. 😀

-
Great O.C. pictures Squawk.
Well we’ve made yet another Saturday.
Mornin’ Gang -
Note:
The blue hambone v3.0 link, above the banner, gets you to the Index page. So, there is no need for the banner to be a live link.-
hambone v3.0
hambone v3.0? I guess I missed that I thought we were at 2.0.
-
-
The new banner has been up since at least Tuesday and it doesn’t have a hotlink to the index page. I really like it.
It’s so windy here, the Palisades fire smoke was probably in Nova Scotia before I even heard about the fire. We’ve had a fairly steady wind out of the west for about 72 hours.

The OC headline images are great. It’s a Texas flavored Week in Pictures.

Eugene Kontorovich is one of the smartest legal minds anywhere. He is an American/Israeli attorney and law professor. Kontorovich has compiled a list of key actions taken by the Biden/Harris against Israel.
Here is a list, in no order, of some of concrete ways the Biden-Harris Administration has undermined Israel and encouraged the Iranian Axis, even in the months after Oct. 7th – and how the Trump Administration can swiftly rectify it.

Justine Bateman, the child actress famous for Family Ties, is now a writer/producer/director in the film business. She wrote, for a celebrity, a surprising and intelligent critique of our culture over the last 4 years. Excellent read ! There is hope yet for this society.
Decompressing from walking on eggshells for the past four years.
2/ I have found the last four years to be an almost intolerable period. A very un-American period in that any questioning, any opinions, any likes or dislikes were held up to a very limited list of “permitted positions” in order to assess acceptability.
3/ I’ve never in my life known that to be an American environment. It’s an environment I have encountered in smaller groupings (a church, a private club,a clique), but never before as a national blanket. It has been suffocating. Common sense was discarded, intellectual discussion
… was demonized. Only “permitted position” behavior and speech was “allowed.” Complete intolerance became almost a religion and one’s professional and social life was threatened almost constantly. Those that spoke otherwise were ruined as a warning to others.

I imagine that very soon the Iranians and all their little proxy groups will start simmering down just like they did after Peanuts lost to Reagan. And if they don’t, there’ll be pretty swift repercussions. Like sinking half the Iranian navy. Like turning missile launchers in Sanaa into smoking craters.-
Iran has a Navy? If so, how large is their fleet? Inquiring minds would like to know details like that. 🙂 As I recall the US Navy has several ships near that area….

KHOU reports that HPD has charged a fugitive suspect with arson in the warehouse fire that killed firefighter Marcelo Garcia.

Well that’s extremely disappointing.
Reports are that Trump will pick Pompeo, again, for Secretary of State. -
Shannon i fixed your linkie thingy request

Thank you.

I wonder what’s next on Shannon’s date destination – a wastewater plant or maybe a slaughterhouse ?

Perhaps a poultry processing facility?

After the graveyard date I was going to say slaughterhouse but I didn’t get back to it.

Even though I’ve been posting special edition TWiPs all week because of the surfeit of memes, I still have a record haul for the weekend. And P’Nut memes have legs! Who knew a non-rabid squirrel would trigger the rabid response of our diseased administrative state that would redound to the benefit of the Great Orange Man! Strap in with a double-cappuccino—it’s a record long gallery today.

Coming back thru town, I see that Trump Burger is absolutely overrun this morning. It’s a long walk to find parking. People outside taking camera shots. A real zoo.

I took some gabapentin last night – a pain killer that also puts me to sleep. It helped me sleep through the mouth pain last night. When I finally got up, I winced down my coffee and did the rosary thing.
I took a Tylenol, but I am seriously considering if I can eat anything. This should be better in a day or two, but today is….pretty bad.
Gonna go check out the WIP and then the C&C. Maybe that’ll cheer me up.
-
Hope you are able to eat halfway normally real soon. This so miserable.
-
As I told Hubby – eyes on the prize. At some point, things will get better, and later – be over.

We took my Mom off gabapentin for her feet when we found out one of the side effects is memory problems. Now to be fair Mom had been on Gabapentin for several years…… but still

I only take when necessary. It was prescribed when my elbow tendonitis went on for months. I found that I didn’t like to take it during the day, and after I tried the generic Voltran cream, the tendonitis went away. I kept the pills, though, and they have come in handy during this whole mouth rebuilding saga.

They gave it to Fay one time while in rehab. It was a horror. I thought she lost her mind.
Needless to say, I was quite agitated and my voice got quite loud and demanding with the staff until I got to the bottom of what had happened overnight to my wife.
It took her three days to come back from never-never land.

We have been shocked at some of the things we have in common. Way back when I was managing a meat market in Bellville, she was working for a competitor. She even owned a meat market in Fulshear many years ago.
She, too, has had a number of wide ranging career moves in disparate types of business.. -
FEMA has since apologized and said the employee is being dealt with. I’m sure it’s a stern lecture with a wink, and a finger wag followed by a handshake.

Good morning, C&C family, it’s Saturday! What a week. For the record, I am NOT tired of winning yet. So, today’s roundup: corporate media chooses war, but world wants peace; Dems concocting cockamamie Supreme Court schemes in desperate race to brace for collision with Trump; FEMA steps on its own garden snake after whistleblowers out anti-Republican bias, confirming more conspiracy theories; and an amazing roundup of Trump Effect headlines to ensure your terrific weekend.

Mr. C. begins the Ukraine war aid discussion with the angst and confusion over The Donald’s statement that he wants to stop the wars. The media is sad and confused.
What on earth could he mean? Why are they confused? Don’t the libs keep talking about how bad and mean wars are? People die, for goodness’ sake! But….let’s hurry the war materiel to Ukraine before the Meat Puppet leaves office. That makes the media happy.
The Globe called the guns, bombs, weapons, and blood money “aid,” like Ukraine is recovering from a hurricane or an earthquake, instead of killing people and wrecking their homes.
Extra-diverse White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre, soon to be replaced, bragged about the accelerated pace of deadly bombs and guns and other lethal instruments Ukraine is using to kill people in large numbers. Karine mentioned not one word about ending the conflict, why would she?
Corporate media has been completely untroubled by the absence of peace talk from the Biden Administration. It’s almost like they love war.
I agree with Mr. C. – any peace that Trump manages to achieve will be criticized on some grounds. As I’ve always said, if Trump manages to cure cancer, the left will complain that doctors have lost their jobs.

Is there anyone with an IQ over 90 who believes this wasn’t a deliberate act of sabotage ? At approximately 1pm on Wednesday November 6, 2024, the Yemassee Police Department received an alert from Alpha Genesis regarding the escape of numerous Rhesus Macaque primates from their enclosures
sounds like more deep state monkey business to me.

“On Tuesday night, wealthy Democratic donors and operatives, who had been getting positive updates from the campaign throughout the day, watched in horror at the Conrad Hotel in Washington as election results came in. Many who had been invited to a VIP gathering at Howard University, where Harris’s campaign held its election night party, decided to stay at the bar or go back to their hotel rooms to mourn alone.”

And then there’s the left’s concern with the Supreme Court. Since Trump’s election means they can’t pack the court with more SCOTUS seats, they have to salvage what they can – and that means trying to force Sotomayor to retire before they lose their judicial appointment advantage. Remember how the revered Ruth Bader Ginsburg refused to step down, until she dropped dead at the most inconvenient time, despite her “impressive” workout routine.
If Sotomayor agreed to divorce herself from the Court without a fight, it would give President Cabbage a shot at replacing her with a perky, blonde, 18-year-old Pilates instructor. Sorry! I mean with a much less seasoned and even more progressive liberal Justice, to save Sotomayor’s slot from the devious schemes and fascist plots of President Trump…
/snip
Politico pondered the critical question that has twisted the Democrat Senate into an agonized tapeworm. “What happens,” they fretted, “if she resigns and the nominee to replace her isn’t confirmed and the next president fills the vacancy?”
The unstated answer was, if that happens, Trump could easily appoint three more young conservatives to the Court — tipping it almost all the way over, 7-2 in our favor, for a political eternity.
Well, sometimes you have to take the big chances. I think the Dems should go for it. There are still about two months left, give or take, allowing time off for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year. They could just make it. True, it would be tight. “There would be no room for error or delay,” Politico admitted.
They only have to get sleepy Joe to move at normal human speed. Good luck!
I could see Biden giving them the final middle finger and delaying the process. After all, he’s on his way out of this mortal coil already. What does he care what he leaves behind? The only way to speed this up would be to A25 the old guy and let the Cackler make one last official mistake before she is forced off the stage. But with the sweeping changes headed their way, there may be some Dems who’d rather work with the incoming authorities instead of wissing them off.

”When the election was called, I was standing in the (FoxNews) green room between Kevin McCarthy, the former speaker of the House, and Karl Rove, longtime consultant for every Republican. Knowing that Donald Trump would soon emerge to claim victory, it felt awkward to be standing in the Fox bureau’s green room just waiting to see him in action. So I left, wandering through the dark New York streets (oddly quiet given the result) to end up at Connolly’s Pub, where about three dozen drunken Irish couples were singing “Proud to Be an American” together as Trump took the stage. It was a much more memorable scene.”
– Ben Domenech-
Ben didn’t have to walk very far. Connolly’s Pub is only 2-1/2 blocks from the Fox News studios off Sixth Avenue.
-
That’s really a good story.

Mr. C. then remarks on the story I listed below, about FEMA employees being instructed to not offer assistance to TRUMP labeled homes.
You all probably trust that FEMA can fairly investigate itself, but yesterday, Governor DeSantis said he directed Florida officials to independently investigate this horrific weaponization of government, preying on vulnerable disaster victims: [insert DeSantis announcement here]
So, the folks who were claiming the government has been weaponized against its citizens are proven correct again.
Outrage on social media understandably focused on the whole weaponization of the federal government angle. But there are some brighter spots the current discussion might be missing.
First, Marn’i was fairly quickly outed by what appear to have been multiple whistleblowers. Not only did someone at FEMA leak that internal chat to the conservative Daily Wire, but several FEMA staff intentionally recorded the evidence of avoiding Trump supporters in their computer system — so that FEMA couldn’t later claim it was just a joke or something.
Second, President Trump has long said he plans to prune many partisan activists out of the federal government. This story provides clear evidence that pruning is urgently needed, and disproves the media’s argument that “federal employees are completely apolitical.”
Third, the Daily Wire broke the story. Corporate media is becoming increasingly redundant, like an infected vestigial organ, and with any luck can be surgically excised soon, and then we’ll start feeling better.

Date #3 is a late-afternoon stew fundraiser at her church and then on to my church service where I will be prayed for as one of the new members of the Church Council (beginning a 2 year term in January).
I’ve served or chaired some important committees over the last 25 years but never served on the Council.-
Well, at least it’s not the wastewater treatment plant. I was kinda rooting for that one. Would’ve made a great story. 😀
-
Oh I’m sure there will be some raised eyebrows at the stew at her church. Not everyone is plugged into the gossip channels….where our little story is probably old news by now. But it will be fun nonetheless. Hee hee.

Then Mr. C. discusses the “Trump effect”. He’s not even in office yet, and already dominoes are falling:
But first, the blame game. It’s all Biden’s fault, right?
Haha, I told you so. But, if they’re going to blame Biden, how about blaming all Biden’s enablers, the folks who covered for his obvious cognitive decline until it was too late? Oh well. File that under questions that will never even be asked.
They studiously avoid any navel gazing about their own part in the loss. It’s never their policies, it’s always some outside force that fails them. That’s one reason why it’ll be difficult to impossible for them to change.
But, on to the dominoes:
- His Chief of Staff appointment. Some misogynist, Trump is. I wonder if Mark Cuban will issue an apology for being such a jackwiss.
- The meteoric rise on Wall Street. The libs can’t control that kind of enthusiasm, much as they’d like to.
- NY Mayor Adams has declared he’ll work with Trump on immigration issues. Sacrilege! Working with the Orange Man to save his city!
- Suddenly, the Taliban in Afghanistan want to strengthen ties with the U.S. I’m sure that there will be negotiated concessions, or else.
- Putin has declared that not only is the West “not his enemy,” he declared that Trump is “a real man”. That last statement will surely irritate the left. Real men are to be feared. Toxic. Scary. To them.
- The Kremlin made statements indicating they are open to “peace”.
- China is also wanting to cozy up to the new administration. “By contrast, things under Biden are so bad the Chinese won’t even pick up Tony Blinken at the airport. They’re always busy.”
- Since Trump threatened to tariff the butt off of Mexico unless they close up their borders and work with the US on limiting the stream of illegals, the latest migrant caravan is breaking up. (I reported this a day or two ago.) This disintegration of the mob is assisted by the Mexican government, news reports say.
- Qatar has told the terrorists who’ve been enjoying safe haven within its borders that they need to leave. It’s eviction time.
- Hamas is calling for an immediate end to the war. Y’know, I’d like Israel to make that call. They didn’t start the war, but I’ll be dang happy to let them end it.
- The EU is offering to buy more of our LNG, hoping to stave off the threatened tariffs if they continue to treat America like the red-headed stepchild.
But wait – there’s more!
In other words, neither Trump nor the rest of the world are wasting the next two months. I’m not sure anything like this has ever happened in history before. The closest I can think of is when the Iranians released the hostages right after Reagan was elected. What we saw this week is much like that pre-emptive victory, except on a global scale.
Trump is playing a long game. He has in view permanent structural changes to extend far beyond his next term. For example, yesterday’s EconoTimes headline: [insert headline that Trump wants to “end political careers with term limits”]
Well, THAT will make a lot of people happy!
And then there’s Moderna. They make only mRNA drugs. Let’s just say that RFK’s rise and being in charge of their regulation has had a jab-like effect on their future.
But after much thought and careful consideration, I decided to award the top Trump Effect to this last story, reported in Voz News under the headline, “Is this the Trump effect? Target ditches ‘Happy Holidays’ and brings back ‘Merry Christmas’ in store decorations.” As recently as 2021, Liberty Counsel listed Target on its annual “Naughty Retailer List” for businesses that “mute and censor Christmas.”
Get it? Trump already rescued Christmas!
The Trump effect, indeed!

My son-in-law is sitting in his house after having taken videos of contents as much as possible. Their house sits atop a mountain directly north and across I-287 from a raging forest fire. They are on standby waiting for a 3:30 press conference. The home sits across the street from the northern end of a huge nature preserve that goes all the way down to the interstate. If the fire jumps across the interstate that whole mountain will explode like a tinder box.

I like that name. It sounds like Yeah Man Chili !
The lefty prosecutor of the Georgia county where Laken Riley was allegedly murdered by a Venezuelan migrant will be looking for another job after being soundly defeated in her re-election bid.
Democratic District Attorney Deborah Gonzalez, whose circuit includes liberal Athens-Clarke County and conservative Oconee County, was trounced 60%-40% by Republican Kalki Yalamanchili Tuesday.
The defeat was part of a tsunami of soft-on-crime progressive prosecutors and pols — many backed by left-wing kingmaker billionaire George Soros — booted from office.

The dingbats are loose and blabbering all sorts of scary stuff to come because Mr. Trump was elected President of the United States of America for a second term. And the LSM are slurping it up and spitting it out as fast as they can. One wonders if all the adults fled the LSM long ago.

Collin Rugg on X lists 7 steps from President-elect Trump.
Donald Trump’s plan to end the drug epidemic in America by declaring war on the drug cartels.
“We will show no mercy on the cartels.”
1. “Deploy all necessary military assets, including the US Navy to impose the full naval embargo and the cartels.”
2. “Guarantee that the waters of the Western Hemisphere are not used to traffic illicit drugs to our country.”
3. “Order the Department of Defense to make appropriate use of special forces cyber warfare and other overt and covert actions to inflict maximum damage on cartel leadership, infrastructure, and operations.”

Meanwhile over in the UK somebody has
cutswiped the cheese. 😉The ‘grate cheese robbery’: $400K of cheddar stolen in London.
British chef Jamie Oliver told his 10.5 million Instagram fans to be on the lookout for “lorry loads of very posh cheese.”British chef Jamie Oliver is on the case of the stolen cheddar.
Oliver, who rose to fame as “The Naked Chef” on TV by stripping food down to its essentials, got cheeky in an otherwise serious plea to his social media followers to help solve the mystery of the missing 22 metric tons (48,488 pounds) of award-winning cheddar worth 300,000 British pounds ($390,000) that was stolen in a scam.
Calling it the “grate cheese robbery,” Oliver told his 10.5 million Instagram fans to be on the lookout for “lorry loads of very posh cheese.”
Nearly 1,000 wheels of cloth-wrapped artisanal cheddar were swiped from Neal’s Yard Dairy by a con artist posing as a wholesale distributor for a major French retailer, the company said. The cheese was gone before the company realized it had been scammed and reported the theft Oct. 21.
“If the deal seems too gouda to be true, it probably is! Let’s find these cheese stealers,” Oliver wrote.
Cheddar, which is named for the village in southwest England where it originated, is the world’s best-known cheese because it does not have the protected status of other regional products like champagne and, thus, is produced in many countries. But there are only a small number of real British cheddar makers, Oliver said.

Mornin Deplorables!
I heard this earlier this week but was just reminded that Trump’s incoming Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles, is former football broadcaster Pat Summeral’s daughter, and will be the first female CoS. Who knew?

Susie Wiles also worked as Jack Kemp’s assistant and worked on Ronald Reagan’s 1980 campaign.

Pat Summeral’s daughter would have never crossed my mind.

Also, Trump did not get to know her through her dad as you would expect, he met her from working with Kemp.

Glenn Beck on X with video. I know this is a real stretch, but…
Vice President @JDVance
as Senate Majority Leader???
@charliekirk11 tells me, “John Adams presided over the US Senate as Senate Majority Leader 200 years ago as Vice President of the United States. I think JD Vance should be President of the Senate and become Senate Majority Leader.
@SenMikeLee came up with this. This is a 1AM phone call from him last night and he had me at ‘hello.’
This would COMPLETELY change the game in Washington.”

I’d be askerred that could end up derailing a 2028 run for Vance. Unless someone else steps up, JD is our only hope of continuing a Trump like agenda.

It seems the Biden people knew early on Trump would crush Joe. Yet they pretended he was perfectly fine and ready for a second run in 2024. The lying weasels, led by Jill Biden, destroyed the Dems chances of ever winning or having a normal convention selecting a decent candidate. There’s not going to be any love from the Left for the Bidens in the future.
President-elect Trump was on track to win 400 electoral votes in a head-to-head race against President Biden, according to the White House’s own internal polls.
The news was revealed by Jon Favreau, a one-time speechwriter for former President Obama who now hosts the liberal Pod Save America podcast.
“Then we find out when the Biden campaign becomes the Harris campaign, that the Biden campaign’s own internal polling at the time when they were telling us he was the strongest candidate, showed that Donald Trump was going to win 400 electoral votes,” Favreau said.

The punitive damages will probably get significantly reduced, but it is still a lot of money.
A federal jury in Detroit awarded more than $12 million Friday to a former Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) employee who was terminated after declining to get a COVID-19 vaccination, citing religious discrimination.
According to the verdict form, Lisa Domski, who worked at the insurance company for more than 30 years as an IT specialist, received $10 million in punitive damages against Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. The jury also awarded her approximately $1.7 million in lost wages and $1 million in noneconomic damages.
Newsweek contacted Blue Cross Blue Shield via email on Saturday for comment.
Domski claimed she was a victim of religious discrimination after the company denied her request for an exemption from its 2021 vaccine policy. She maintained that the requirement conflicted with her Catholic beliefs.

Just a tiny snippet from a very fun election post-mortem from PirateWires.
What did we learn?
By October, several of our most influential corporate executives were in regular contact with Trump, discussing trade policy for example, even before he won the election. Largely, this is because Democrats sided with European regulators over technology industry leadership, and outright targeted our industry at home. The failure of common sense here, and the inscrutable, self-loathing subversion of national interest, is now core to the Democratic Party, which has been hijacked by a minority of people who hate themselves, and us. Meanwhile, Donald Trump is a straight-up mercantilist (we love this) who wants to see European bureaucrats cry (I really can’t stress enough how much we love this). A relationship between American industry and the former American president always made sense. But the bridge was Elon Musk, the industry’s most popular CEO, who Democrats — a party that no longer supports free speech — decided they hated following the sale of Twitter, and set out to destroy through the courts.

Eight minutes of street comments from Israelis in Tel Aviv. It’s about 85% pro-Trump.
-
Commentary:
Early Friday morning in Amsterdam, in the shadow of the house in which Anne Frank hid and where her family was betrayed, rampaging mobs of Muslim men targeted Israeli attendees of a soccer match featuring the Maccabi team. They beat up men and women. They broke into buildings searching for Israelis to attack. They assaulted at least one child. For hours, the streets were not clear of them, as the authorities in the Dutch city had no clue what to do or how to engage. The mobs had been prepositioned at stadium exits, subway station entrances, and near and around the hotels at which Israelis who had come to town to support their team were staying. This was a pre-planned attack. We are mere days away from the 86th anniversary of Kristallnacht, the day when Jews and Jewish businesses were specifically targeted for arrest, injury, and destruction. We’ve only ever really seen still photographs of the damage. You want to know what Kristallnacht was like? Go to Twitter and watch the videos, taken by the GoPro cameras of the goons, and you’ll get some flavor of what the word “pogrom” means. We have just seen the first unambiguous pogrom after October 7.

A young Israeli woman recounts the terror of being attacked by Muslim gangs in Amsterdam. The Mossad monitors social media in Europe and warned law enforcement authorities in Amsterdam these mobs were being organized days before and the Dutch officials did nothing.

It’s common knowledge that our brains—and, specifically, our brain cells—store memories. But a team of scientists has discovered that cells from other parts of the body also perform a memory function, opening new pathways for understanding how memory works and creating the potential to enhance learning and to treat memory-related afflictions.
and,
The research sought to better understand if non-brain cells help with memory by borrowing from a long-established neurological property—the massed-spaced effect—which shows that we tend to retain information better when studied in spaced intervals rather than in a single, intensive session—better known as cramming for a test.
-
Memories and emotions are very closely related. Emotions are chemical events in the brain. Strong negative emotions have destructive chemistry associated with them. These destructive chemical elements wind up getting deposited in tight muscle tissue. When that tissue is worked and rejuvenated, the emotion can be experienced again with no external stimuli. As a therapist, I have seen this happen first hand many times. Sometimes the client will relate to me the event that caused the trauma in the first place; at times this event has not been thought about in decades.

The slow death of the American network and cable TV industry. I believe a great contributor to the disturbed, irrational on-air reactions of their left wing TV people is their realization they have lost their power forever and will never get it back.
The Democrats can always decide to get smarter and possibly return, but the comprehensive influence of traditional, corporate media is doomed to extinction. It started with the brutal takedown of Dan Rather. These things take time.
From the WSJ:
It underscored what the 2024 presidential race made clear: A new media landscape has emerged. The traditional gatekeepers of political discourse—TV networks and newspapers—are shrinking in influence as Americans turn to many more outlets for information.
The percentage of people listening to podcasts in a given month has more than tripled in a decade. In the social-media realm, more than half of TikTok’s users say they regularly get news on the platform, according to the Pew Research Center. Elon Musk’s takeover of X has had a major impact, with political content, especially right-leaning posts, blanketing new users’ feeds.
TV news remains a massive draw for Americans in the biggest moments. But younger audiences have fled, and there were signs even on election night of an overall erosion in the medium. The main three cable channels were down 32% in viewership collectively compared with 2020, to around 21 million, with CNN losing almost half its audience.

I think I like Lindy Li, I caught this exchange early yesterday morning on Fox N Friends. She really told it like it is. Why did Dr Suess’ The Grinch pop into my head? 😉
I think that was a big, ‘F you’ to the party.
FWIW; The second “real” F You is at the 5:05 mark.
On Saturday, Li ripped into the way in which Biden went down, suggesting that his rapid endorsement of Harris was an “f you” to his fellow Democrats. Fox News censored her accidentally dropping the f-bomb on air and Li later restrained herself from using it again.
“I actually think President Biden, the whole endorsing her 30 minutes after he dropped out, I think that was a big, ‘F you’ to the party. ‘If you don’t want me, here’s somebody you may not like, deal with it,’” Li said.
“Kind of like sticking it to the man.”
Last week, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who is widely believed to have played a key role in pushing out her fellow octogenarian Catholic Democrat, similarly panned the way Biden exited.
“Had the president gotten out sooner, there may have been other candidates in the race,” Pelosi told “The Interview,“ a New York Times podcast. “The anticipation was that, if the president were to step aside, that there would be an open primary.”

Last night one of my fermenters stopped activity. I gave the whole thing a vigorous shake and it came back to life. I don’t exactly know what the process was, but I am liking the result. I want all the honey to be fermented; waste not want not, and active CO2 bubbling up tells me that the process wasn’t and still isn’t finished.

Needed some oxygen?

I just saw a landscape crew in the neighborhood. The black and latino guys were wearing bright red hoodies with TRUMP in huge yellow letters printed on them.

Super. Really well done.

Don’t know if it’s true but I saw it posted Taylor Swift said she would not be performing any concerts in any red states. If true, has she not looked at an election map?
-
I saw that but it was satire. Said so at the bottom but you had to scroll a mile to see it.
-
I heard it 3rd hand (analog) (wife), so I’m not surprised it was fake news.

Can you say Loser?…Yes, I knew you could. 😀

Probably won’t be any good but the final episodes of Yellowstone start tonight, gotta see it through though right? A bit of a dilemma for me though, the Texans play on Sunday Night Football at the same time. No worries, I have a DVR button and I’m not afraid to use it.
-
Thank you for the heads up. I forgot tonight is the night.
I have watched 10,000 football games in my life. I still love it but, I’ve seen it all. There’s only one Yellowstone.
I fear its denouement will be difficult. But I wouldn’t miss it for the world.

Happy birthday to all the crayon-eating jarheads out there.

For the record, I saw a map that showed Oklahoma as the only state without a single county voting for Kamala. Solid red…no blue spots.
-
I saw that but West Virginia also had no blue counties. Back when W was elected Oklahoma was all red and I think the only state that was, back then. Joe Manchin, the Democrat Senator was considered very conservative back then.

Still watching, but Dr. Berry had a long discussion about MAHA, diet, changes in the administration, fluoride, food quality… Claiming the Overton Window is wide open and we can finally talk about things.

@lhfang
It is genuinely funny how so many left-liberal influencers spent the last 8 years complaining about whiteness as the source of Trump’s evil power and he’s then elected with a historic multiracial coalition of Native Americans, Black, Asian, and Latino voters.

Those of you with a NYT’s subscription should look up David Brooks (David Brooks!) piece. I don’t know how heartfelt or how long it lasts, but for now, he gets it.
Voters to Elites: Do You See Me Now?

I just watched my first group of Demorats meltdowns. Hillariel as BSue would say. Saw this vid. I would not want Hollywood campaigning for me.
Down with democracy? -
My @3:20 PM, I didn’t mean for the map to show up. I typed “2014 Election Map Counties” highlighted and added the link just like I always do but the map popped up anyway, I edited but no change.

Don’t worry bout it

Speaking of Jar Heads, here is my grandnephew and his lovely bride at a recent wedding. He was a Crew Chief on a V 22 Osprey and now works on Apache’s at Fort Rucker.

GJT’s comment at 3:18 PM
Here is the David Brooks column:
We have entered a new political era. For the past 40 years or so, we lived in the information age. Those of us in the educated class decided, with some justification, that the postindustrial economy would be built by people like ourselves, so we tailored social policies to meet our needs.
Our education policy pushed people toward the course we followed — four-year colleges so that they would be qualified for the “jobs of the future.” Meanwhile, vocational training withered. We embraced a free trade policy that moved industrial jobs to low-cost countries overseas so that we could focus our energies on knowledge economy enterprises run by people with advanced degrees. The financial and consulting sector mushroomed while manufacturing employment shriveled.
Geography was deemed unimportant — if capital and high-skill labor wanted to cluster in Austin, Texas, San Francisco and Washington, it didn’t really matter what happened to all those other communities left behind. Immigration policies gave highly educated people access to low-wage labor while less-skilled workers faced new competition. We shifted toward green technologies favored by people who work in pixels, and we disfavored people in manufacturing and transportation whose livelihoods depend on fossil fuels.

I may have listened to three Taylor Swift songs in my life, other than to watch her extraordinary appearance on Tiny Desk Concerts years ago.
As much as Taylor Swift deserves criticism for dipping her toe into politics, I can assure you that this brilliant young business woman and talented singer/songwriter wouldn’t be so stupid as to say she wasn’t going to perform in red states.
-
this brilliant young business woman
I will admit she is that. She very carefully and shrewdly built her empire by being very laser focused on her audience.
If I ever heard any of her songs I didn’t know it.

Michael Tomasky is an old lefty who has been around as long he’s been making me angry – for decades starting long before the internet. Tomasky is now an editor at the New Republic, now owned by Steven Job’s billionaire widow.
Related to my earlier comments about the death of the mainstream media, Steven Hayward quoted Tomasky and he is furious…
The answer is the right-wing media. Today, the right-wing media—Fox News (and the entire News Corp.), Newsmax, One America News Network, the Sinclair network of radio and TV stations and newspapers, iHeart Media (formerly Clear Channel), the Bott Radio Network (Christian radio), Elon Musk’s X, the huge podcasts like Joe Rogan’s, and much more—sets the news agenda in this country. And they fed their audiences a diet of slanted and distorted information that made it possible for Trump to win.
Let me say that again, in case it got lost: Today, the right-wing media sets the news agenda in this country. Not The New York Times. Not The Washington Post (which bent over backwards to exert no influence when Jeff Bezos pulled the paper’s Harris endorsement). Not CBS, NBC, and ABC. The agenda is set by all the outlets I listed in the above paragraph. Even the mighty New York Times follows in its wake, aping the tone they set disturbingly often. . . This is the year in which it became obvious that the right-wing media has more power than the mainstream media. [Emphasis added.]

Mr. Trump has prepared a list of changes he intends to make after he is sworn in again. And it appears that that much of the world is happy that he is back in a landslide.

Dr. Malone’s Sunday Strip. It’s an extra WIP.
The first one cracks me up.

This ties to the Dr. Berry video that I linked below:
Fantastic News from Joel Salatin’s blog
I’ve been contacted by the Trump transition team to hold some sort of position within the USDA and have accepted one of the six “Advisor to the Secretary” spots. My favorite congressman, Thomas Massie from Kentucky, has agreed to go in as Secretary of Agriculture.
He’s been the sponsor of the PRIME ACT, which, if pushed through, would be the biggest shot across the bow of the entrenched industrial meat processing system we’ve seen in a century. Let liberty ring. Wouldn’t that be a change of fortune for Big Ag?
-Joel Salatin
-
I just read Joel Salatin’s biography from his Substack and still don’t know who he is. I’ve never heard of this man, but he’s pretty full of himself.

-
Well. I guess I lied. I can’t resist.
I’ll just have to watch Yellowstone tomorrow on Paramount+.
Go Texans!!! -
“Trump may not weigh in at all on who he wants to steer his agenda in the upper chamber. But if he does, his endorsement would upend a once-sleepy race that has intensified in the 48 hours since Republicans won a Senate majority and he won a second term. Most Republican senators see the president-elect’s blessing as having a huge, though not necessarily decisive, effect on the secret-ballot leadership race.”

Great to see JJ Watt’s mom doing commercials again.
Had a big crush on her for years.

Taylor Swift? There is not enough cyber paper for expressing how I cannot stand her.
More meat on a chicken wing bone than on that skinny a## twit.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I can’t stand the sight of her.

Sister came over and we had T Bones, baked taters N beans, Hawaiian rolls and a really good green salad with several different fancy greens and all sorts of veggies. Also I’m not sure why but the Angus T Bones seemed better than normal, maybe I was just hungry. 😉

Oh and even though I’ve never heard Taylor Swift sing I CAN’T stand that arrogant woman. Not to say she’s not a very good business woman, she certainly is!
Shucks “I” don’t have a G 5. 😀 -
I guess I’m so out of the loop culturally that I didn’t know that I was supposed to hate Taylor Swift.
-
Of course you wouldn’t. 😀
