Weekend Real Women Open Comments

Nike is being called out. X has posted the original ad.

From Breitbart .com :

“Today, males are claiming our identity, our sports, our spaces. Men and boys are stealing opportunities, medals, trophies, and our future,” the girls in the ad say. “It is not fair or just. In fact, it’s often dangerous.”

“Yet you refuse to use your platform to stand up. You say you’re for social justice and progress. So why do you allow men’s rights to come before ours? See, with a big platform comes an even bigger responsibility. You have a chance to do the right thing, not just do the easy thing,” the girls continue.

“So we’re asking you, Nike. So we’re asking you, Nike. So we’re asking you, Nike, as the biggest voice in all of sports. Will you stand up for me? Will you stand up for me? Will you stand up for me? Will you stand up for me? Will you? Will you? Will you just do it?”

/snip

The ad showed the dangerous results when men who identify as women are allowed to play against women, Fox News reported in July.

Sey reposted the banned video to X to show potential customers that it contained nothing offensive or geared toward “hate.” All it did was highlight the facts.

First?! Well it’s the weekend and a brisk 51 here on the farm. I guess Fall is going to last for more than a couple of days this time.

I understand that a lot of people are very much in favor of this ad. The problem I have with it is that it is trying to force a company to do something to favor a political agenda. I objected to BLM when they were trying to force the “silence is violence” slogan on people. I just want companies to do their business and stay the heck out of the public square. I don’t think they should be promoting DIE because it’s the current popular fad, or offering me queer hamburgers because they think it is going to earn them favor. I do object to boys and girls sports, but I think that trying to force a company to stand up and do what you want them to do instead of letting them do their business is not the solution. Just my two cents worth.

NIKE has proudly supported every left-wing, gay, and trans agenda item in the book.
Like Anheiser Busch/Bud Light, they are certainly a legitimate target for this type of shaming from a large part of their customer base.

Oh, I’m not saying they don’t deserve shaming, but the “you have a big platform so you must say what we want you to say” just rubs me the wrong way.

Never seen a solar farm before, yesterday about 40-50 mile before Memphis in Arkansas on I40 we came upon two of them just a few miles apart. First one was massive, second one was panels as far as you could see in any direction. Just does not make sense on many levels.

To bring me back to my country I love so, also saw Yuge cotton fields being harvested.

Speaking of cotton, cousins who run the family farm in Crosby County up near Lubbock did not have much of a crop this year but did bring in the first bale to the gin. Kind of a big deal I guess, there were awards, pictures and high praise.

During the recent Amazon Prime Deals they had a deal that I simply couldn’t ignore on three All-Clad non-stick frying pans with glass lids (8, 10, 12”). I like that they are true to size and are straight-sided instead of flare-sided. Oven safe. I’ll have to get used to using a handle-cover on the metal handles.
It was with great pleasure this morning that I hauled to the dumpster six ancient frying pans and assorted mismatched lids.

    Today’s C&C roundup:

Good morning, C&C, it’s Saturday! Time for the Weekend Edition. Your roundup includes: real Americans don’t wait for FEMA even though it triggers liberals; New York Times puff piece accidentally rips the mask off the mechanics of media manipulation; Moderna’s long slide into financial irrelevance continues; DOJ sues State of Virginia for removing non-citizens from voting rolls; more worldwide aurora set more records and baffle disinterested climate scientists; and election news suggests the momentum is moving the right direction.

If you need, I can share our family’s “secret recipe” (my Mama’s baby sister gave it to me)… take a paper towel with a glob of crisco on it… rub Crisco all over the inside of your cast iron pan… make sure it’s all covered – doesn’t have to be a thick coat, just a thorough one… set your oven to the temperature the package (corn-kits was her choice, and if I want it really thick, I use 2 packages – my skillet has an 8 on it, which I presume means its 8″) says… and turn it on… while it is pre-heating, follow the directions for mixing the cornbread mix and get it ready… when the oven is fully pre-heated, take a good potholder and remove your cast iron skillet from the oven and pour in the corn-kits batter, making sure to tilt the skillet to level the mix out in the skillet, smiling as you hear it sizzle because that’s your crust starting to form… cook according to the directions on the corn-kits packet… I sometimes cut the cornbread in the skillet – sometimes I turn it out on a plate or cutting board. I then wipe out the skillet with a paper towel, and IF NEEDED I rinse It with water – DO NOT EVER use soap… I then put the skillet back in the oven until it’s dry – and rub crisco over the inside again – wipe off any excess, and put it away…

It seems that hillbillies taking responsibility for their communities just wisses off the liberals. Too bad. Real men repair bridges and roads to protect and serve their families and communities:

CLIP: Toxic masculinity and bridge repair (0:49).

Hopefully, they aren’t mansplaining or man-spreading while sitting on their backhoe. Still, the fact groups of all white men are taking effective action without FEMA’s help is a kind of microaggression. As evidenced by FEMA’s website, the disaster relief agency’s top priority is —I am not making this up— not saving lives or protecting property, but equity: [insert headline promoting equity in emergency management – I KID YOU NOT!]

I used to read “ask the imam” sites because I was trying to understand the mindset of those who hate us. I will always remember one entry. It was a question asked right after the devastating tsunami in Phuket, where a couple hundred thousand people died and whole communities were devastated:

Muslim: “Is it okay to donate money to help those people, even if they are infidels?”
Imam: “If you think it will help bring them to Islam, then yes. Otherwise, no.”

I remember being so disgusted by that answer. This whole “diversity and equity” being applied to the recovery efforts hits me the same way.

People in need are people in need. Period.

Screw the liberals. Just get them out of the way so that real human beings can get the job done.

Meanwhile, everyday folks in sticky situations are getting things done without waiting for somebody else to do it or even for permission. Pheonix-like, something essentially American is resurrecting in the wake of Hurricane Helene’s tragedy, and it’s terrific.

(PS—I would be remiss if I failed to mention there are also plenty of reports of state DOT folks doing great work.)

Mr. C. has a rather long treatise about the Democrat machine and its ability to manipulate media output, the whys and wherefores thereof. It’s a good read, here’s an excerpt:

Permission structures weren’t always the Democrat default; it’s probably a neo-Marxist feature. After all, they used to call the Democrat Party the “big tent party,” meaning it covered a diverse group of related political viewpoints. But now, the Democrats’ big tent has been shrunk to something like a clown car, and you must wear the outfit if you want to cram yourself in.

This kind of agenda-setting was well described in George Orwell’s 1984, where the Party didn’t just control behavior, but it also regulated what people thought through a combination of fear and linguistic manipulation. It could also be compared to the Soviet Union’s “approved narratives.” Or to its precursor, the 1960’s fascinating ‘agenda-setting theory.

In its most technical definition, “permission structures” are conceptually larger than just media manipulation defining the boundaries of acceptable groupthink. As used by Obama officials, the term referred more broadly to a psychological process of lobotomizing someone’s deeply held beliefs and getting them to accept things they used to find inconceivably repulsive.

I saw this story last night and thought – WTH? Since when is removing illegal voters from the rolls something the DOJ would object to? Oh, wait, I forgot….

Yesterday, Democracy Docket ran a breathless story headlined, “Justice Department Sues Virginia Officials Over State’s Noncitizen Voter Roll Purge.” Of course it did. But why? Is Virginia in play?

On August 7th, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin signed an executive order requiring the state elections commissioner to update the state’s voter lists to remove folks “identified as non-citizens” who don’t respond to a request to verify their citizenship within 14 days.

It was triggering. Yesterday, Biden’s DOJ filed suit arguing that removing non-citizens not allowed to vote this close to an election is illegal. Maybe if they’d removed the illegal voters sooner? What difference does it make when an illegal voter gets removed?

I do like seeing a thumb in the eye of TPTB.

It seems the great black awakening is rocking the political world. Blexit is a real thing:

In election news, the New York Times ran an encouraging story this morning headlined, “Black Voters Drift From Democrats, Imperiling Harris’s Bid, Poll Shows.” More black Americans support Trump than ever (especially men), and “the drop-off for Ms. Harris, if it holds, is large enough to imperil her chances of winning key battleground states.”

From what I’ve heard, Obummer’s efforts to lecture and shame black men into voting for the Cackler has richocheted:

Democrats’ normal race-hustling isn’t working this time. “Regardless of how people call him racist and stuff, he is for the country of America,” said LaPage Drake, a 63-year-old black Texan.

Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal ran a story yesterday headlined, “Battle for Swing States Is Tied, Trump Has Edge on Top Issues, WSJ Poll Shows.” Voters in the seven tossup states see Trump “as better equipped than Kamala Harris to handle the issues they care about most—the economy and border security.”

We’re down to three weeks left. I’m not brave enough to try predicting what will happen. But this week left us with a strong sense of momentum moving in the right direction. Stay frosty.

I somehow missed this; Endurance: Shackleton’s lost ship is found in Antarctic.
Scientists have found and filmed one of the greatest ever undiscovered shipwrecks 107 years after it sank.

The Endurance, the lost vessel of Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, was found at the weekend at the bottom of the Weddell Sea.

The ship was crushed by sea-ice and sank in 1915, forcing Shackleton and his men to make an astonishing escape on foot and in small boats.

Video of the remains show Endurance to be in remarkable condition.

Even though it has been sitting in 3km (10,000ft) of water for over a century, it looks just like it did on the November day it went down.

Its timbers, although disrupted, are still very much together, and the name – Endurance – is clearly visible on the stern.

“Without any exaggeration this is the finest wooden shipwreck I have ever seen – by far,” said marine archaeologist Mensun Bound, who is on the discovery expedition and has now fulfilled a dream ambition in his near 50-year career.

“It is upright, well proud of the seabed, intact, and in a brilliant state of preservation,” he told BBC News.

It was an off election year and the Democrats out-registered and almost out-voted the Republicans. There is no reason it should have been that close.

Fortunately, this is a presidential election year and turnout should be much better for Republicans. The turnout in 2016 was almost 60% and barely 51% in 2018.

Unfortunately, elections for the current seat held by Cruz will be held after 2024 in off-year elections until 2048.

Oh, I forgot to tell y’all that I drove 840 miles to get a new set of Tarrs. You see, it was like this; I’ve been getting close to needing new tires, 2 that were just over 1/16′ and 2 just under but I didn’t have time to replace them before my Texas Road Trip. After having lunch with my NASA buddies on Friday the 27th I headed up to Lampasas and as I was passing through Killeen my low tire warning light on the left rear came on indicating 24 PSI, so I thought dang, if it’s that low it’s probably leaking pretty fast.So I sailed off the freeway and used my big Gumby Dammit air compressor to air it up and the found a Discount Tire place. By the time I rolled into the store the tire pressure was @ 11 PSI. Come to find out the puncture was so close to the sidewall that it couldn’t be fixed. So, with my Road Hazard Warranty I received one free tire and purchased 3 more at a discount. I guess that I was lucky that I had the puncture, especially since it happened near a Discount tire place and it was about 5:15 PM, a little later and I’d been screwed. 😉

Excellent essay by Rod Martin reprinted from 2015 on Columbus and European explorers in the Americas. Most of accepted history babbled about by “journalists and activists” is pure manure.

Did America Commit Genocide Against the Indians ?

Most Indians did not die because of any human action. As in the famous H.G. Welles / Orson Wells classic War of the Worlds, it was disease that wiped them out. Indeed, but for that, European settlement might have been impossible: the Americas would have been like India or China, not the largely empty wilderness our history records.

A shocking 80% to 90% of the inhabitants of the Americas were wiped out by disease, very early in their contact with Europeans. There were roughly 37 million natives in what became Latin America immediately prior to Columbus, including 6 million in the Aztec Empire, 8 million in the Mayan States, 11 million in what is now Brazil, and 12 million in the Inca Empire. There were probably about 7 million more to the north, in all of what became the United States and Canada.

    and,

According to our pre-2010 understanding, such a civilization could not have existed; and likewise, our belief was that Indians “lived in harmony with nature” and all sorts of other latter day revisionism. But in fact, Indians were highly accomplished clear-cutters, and the jungles that dominate much of Latin America (like many forests in the U.S.) were significantly smaller, if not nonexistent, under the reign of the Native Americans. Ten times as many people living in a largely non-technological society meant a lot of need for farm land and for wood to burn as fuel; and generally speaking, few Incas and Aztecs had ecology degrees from Berkeley.

    Good news Sunday !

Rumors of a backroom caucus revolt against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gained traction last week as numerous media outlets reported the existence of a letter demanding that Trudeau step down as Liberal leader and Canadian prime minister. “Multiple sources” have told CBC News that MPs are being enlisted in backroom talks.

Discontent has been building since the Liberals’ byelection loss this summer to Conservatives in the once-safe seat of Toronto-St.Paul. Anger accelerated when Trudeau lost two more byelections in Winnipeg and Montreal, including a Montreal riding once occupied by former Justice Minister David Lametti. Last week Trudeau was out of the country for the entire week, excusing his absence on a summit meeting in Laos.

Trudeau has said virtually nothing about the “Green Slush Fund” scandal that saw hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars given to friends of the Liberal Party under the auspices of the Sustainable Development Technology Canada fund. House of Commons Speaker Greg Fergus shut down government business and agreed with the Official Opposition Conservatives as well as the New Democratic Party and Bloc Quebecois that unredacted copies of the agency’s documents should be forwarded to the RCMP for investigation and potential prosecution.

Fay, too, did a mighty fine job on Bambi.
Her other three sisters, not so much.

Since it was just me N Dawg for supper, I grilled a T-Bone, fixed some Charro Beans and a baked Sweet tater with Hawaiian rolls. Before I ate I trimmed the T-Bone out and gave it to Dawg, poured me some Merlot so we both had a fine supper. 😉
FWIW; There is not much left of the T-Bone, she even ate all the marrow. Mr Possum will be disappointed.

I don’t have any idea what is going on in Texas but Ted Cruz is scared to death that he’ll be beat by the Democrat machine. Apparently, they’ve spent millions and Cruz can’t compete in the $$$ Donor wars. Also he says the RNC isn’t any help since he’s not a Swamp Rat.

I like this one; 1967 Valiant 100 with a factory “Super Stock” look powered by a 11.0:1 Slant 6. 😉
BTW; I do love the Lady Librarian, Hub Caps, not wheel covers.

We had Handsome Son come over for dinner. I feel sorry for the boy, being without his wife and all. He needs some real cooking done for him every now and then. DIL is planning a trip home soon, and Hubby helped him with a fiberglass repair on their shower today. Handsome spent a lot of time cleaning up after. Right after dinner I sent him home because he looked so tired.

It was good that he got to spend time with his father today, and he enjoyed the steak dinner. And I got a couple hugs, so it was all good.

She’s working some crazy year-long internship at Disney World in Orlando. Her contract ends in January, I hear. He went to visit her once, but between her work schedule and her classes, they didn’t get to visit much, so they are settling for nightly phone calls. It’s hard on him, with her gone.

A year long apprenticeship?! So she/they are moving to Orlando eventually? I hope there is big bucks involved.

I don’t know about future moving plans. She is a Disney fanatic, especially Star Wars, so when this opportunity to get some business experience along with her college classes came up, she couldn’t wait to get started. Handsome Son is a good HVAC tech, so he can get a job anywhere, especially in the South. AFAIK, the plans are for her to return to Houston.

Hubby’s not going to be able to drive his new baby to a car show in Austin. It seems he needs a bigger oil cooler (purchased already, being shipped) because his oil temp is too high. He’s disappointed, but he can’t change the schedule.

    Texpat and Super Dave.

Out-of-staters, understandably, can’t believe that Ted Cruz is once again on the ropes.

I can’t tell you what the truth is about this race.

But the last race that Cruz ran – against that skateboarding little faggot – was scarily closer than it should have been.

Several months ago Texpat scoffed at my worries about Cruz’ attractive opponent.

Anything is possible, but I believe that Ted has one more win to go.

Yup, but his next few elections will be in off years where the Democrats will have a better chance of cheating.

FWIW; I don’t know anything about Kim Ogg other than she is a Democrat but Ted Cruz says she is endorsing him instead of this Allred Dude.

Like Kansas City BBQ Sauce. 40% sugar.

Yes, it was pretty shocking that the long-term Harris County District Attorney (Democrat) Kim Ogg has publicly (and done television commercials) endorsing U.S. Senator Ted Cruz.

But the left-wing Houston power-brokers defeated Ogg in her recent Democratic Primary for pursuing indictments and prosecution of the highest elected and corrupt Dems in the County and City.

The Cruz endorsement was Ogg’s farewell middle finger to the Harris County Democrat Power-broker Scum…..especially Rodney Ellis.

Her elected career is over. She has nothing to lose.

But she has bigger balls than half the Republican office holders in this state.

Perhaps Haris County DA Kim Ogg is close to the point of becoming a Republican.

      To what end?
There isn’t a chance in hell that Harris County would elect her as a Republican D.A.
