Texpat asked that it be posted, and while I could figure out how to get the video from X into the app that Squawk instructed me to use (and I couldn’t find it on Rumble or YT, either), I made it a link in an OC weekend topic. If I can find it on the other platforms, I’ll try to rectify that situation.

TAMPA, FL โ€” As yet another tragic side-effect of the impending destruction expected to be caused by Hurricane Milton when it makes landfall, experts predicted the wave of Waffle House closures would force crackheads to go fight out in the streets.

The phenomenon known as the “Waffle House Index” โ€” an unofficial scale in which closures of Waffle House locations are used to gauge the severity of a disaster โ€” indicated that the arrival of the hurricane on Florida’s western coast would, in all likelihood, leave the region’s miscreants without their standard location for physical altercations.

“It’s sad to see them forced to fight out in the elements away from the comfort of the Waffle Houses they’re used to,” said sociologist Dr. Bradford Billings. “Many of these vagrants, methheads, and mental defectives have grown quite accustomed to fighting in Waffle Houses. It’s part of their lifestyles and, more importantly, it’s an important part of the fabric of our communities here in the Southeast. It’s a tragedy to see them unable to fight in Waffle Houses.”

    I’m outta here after this.

Remember last week when Iran started begging other Middle East nations to join them in attacking Israel. The room got very quiet and one could only hear crickets. This is why…

Iran threatened Arab nations that if they assist Israel in its retaliatory attack on Iranian targets, they would be punished, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday. Arab officials told the Journal that Tehran used discreet diplomatic channels to warn Gulf states and other regional American allies that it would strike them if they help Israel.

In a secret room somewhere in the United Arab Emirates the highest officials of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Bahrain, Morrocco and Qatar are sitting around drinking Jack Daniels and cheering the big screen TVs as images of IDF missiles and bombs destroy Hezbollah. They are also praying to Allah that Bibi gives the OK to blow up the Mullahs and their nuclear sites.

    Here’s the C&C roundup:
Good morning, C&C, itโ€™s Friday! And we have a totally packed roundup today: Well-prepared Florida weathers turbo hurricane Milton; Tesla pushes consumer tech boundaries with announcements of upcoming products; nuclear power makes a comeback and environmentalists are eerily quiet; BioLab investigator dies suddenly after testimony; Harris campaign picks up telling new supporter group with an eye-popping ad campaign; ISIS implant, illegal immigrant, and violent Election-day terrorist used to work for a particular US agency of great interest; DOJ pressures Google and Facebook with suggestively timed antitrust investigations with weird Epstein connection; Congressman hints at government involvement in Epstein murder; North Korean relationship with Russia births totally predictable but unexpected developments; and pollsters begin to panic as signs of stress appear in the Harris campaign.

First, more backbone from Florida: DeSantis proclaims that Florida is running the recovery, not FEMA (the Failed Emergency Mismanagement Agency).

Kinda like how he proclaimed the Cackler to be irrelevant.

Elon Musk is bringing the Jetson environment to us:

You have to wonder: When does the man sleep? CNBC ran an electrifying story yesterday headlined, โ€œTesla CEO Elon Musk on Optimus robot: This will be the biggest product ever of any kind.โ€

I don’t know if I like these driving robots and household robots. Anything electronic can be hacked. If we become dependent upon devices instead of our own abilities, we become weak and enslaved.

If I was blind and needed to go somewhere, I could see having a driverless car. If I was paralyzed and needed help around the house, a robot would be helpful. But as long as I’m capable, I don’t want to be dependent. Just don’t wanna. Reason #31 why I don’t like having a “smart home” nor an internet interfaced device which can answer a question for me. Why can’t I take the time to look it up? I have kitchen timers if I need to track a cooking cycle. When I was in elementary school, we had a “Look It Up” club, where we got certificates that encouraged us to use books and encyclopedias to find our answers instead of bugging the teacher. (I remember that because I recently found some old papers that Mom had kept in a file.) We were not allowed to be lazy, especially intellectually.

Nowadays, it’s just too easy to be too lazy. The Jack Williamson novella, “With Folded Hands,” has always left me with a sense of horror of becoming dependent on technology or even well-meaning “benevolent” overlords. It’s too easy for those entities to get a foothold in our lives – and never let go. You can see this already, in the failed welfare system we have now. I encourage everyone to read it, even if you’re not a sci-fe aficionado.

Mr. C. ends his story about the coming Musk technologies with a rather obvious hurdle: power.

But one thing is getting very clear: between battery-operated cars and robots, and the vast electrical demands of AI, our aging power grid will soon need a lot more juice, and solar farms and oversized windmills arenโ€™t getting anywhere close.

I won’t put it past Musk to overcome that hurdle, though. He’s managed to jump so many others.

There are things about Musk that I like, but I also find some aspects frightening. Too much, too fast – can we assimilate all of these changes without losing our independence or sense of self-sovereignty? Will these “helpful” technologies be forced on us “for our own good,” before we understand the ramifications? We can see how well that worked with the WLR jab, right?

In response to the power needs of the coming techonology (and our current society): Mr. C. brings us this interesting tidbit – Biden is bringing back nuclear????

The article reported that two reactivations are already underway, including Michiganโ€™s cold-stored Palisades power plant and the deep-frozen Three Mile Island reactor, which was the one that started the whole nuclear panic in the first place.

Not mentioned in the article is the fact that Microsoft signed a contract to buy bulk electrons from Three Mile Island โ€” to power its new AI data center. Other nuke plants, long retired, are also scheduled for new leases on life, and the Administration is fast-tracking approvals for brand new mini-reactors called SMRs.

On Monday, the Navy requested permission to install SMRs on half a dozen of its bases. Does the Navy need more power for missile-defense lasersA.I.-driven โ€œhellscapeโ€ drone swarms? Who knows. But the nukes are back.

Later in the story, Reuters almost regretfully reported that offshore wind farms are slowly sinking into the sea, with flatlining demand for new mills, and oceans of technical problems swarming existing installations. It was a shock. Who could have possibly predicted that giant metal mechanical devices running day and night in salt water would result in vast amounts of expensive wear and tear? Not experts, thatโ€™s for sure.

Is the long climate graft reaching its desultory terminal destination, finally forced out by practical demands? Whereโ€™s Greta?

Possible Arkancide alert! Or is it a coincidentally time “died suddenly” event?

On Wednesday, the New York Post ran a heavily ironic story headlined, โ€œGeorgia environmental official collapses and dies near state Capitol after testifying about toxic BioLab fire.โ€

    /snip

You remember last weekโ€™s story, when just outside Atlanta, the BioLab pool chemical plant mysteriously caught fire and the entire town of Conyers, Georgia was evacuated.

Well, Kenny Johnson, 62, Rockdale Countyโ€™s Soil and Water Conservation supervisor and a staunch environmentalist, testified Tuesday about the BioLab chemical fire at the state capital. Right after testifying, he โ€œcomplained of shortness of breath and subsequently collapsed in the hallway.โ€ He didnโ€™t make it.

In other words, he died suddenly. …

Along with Putin, it seems that porn lovers are also supporting the Cackler:

On Monday, seventeen pornographic film actors announced that they had launched a $100,000 ad campaign on their websites called โ€œHands Off My Porn.โ€ Theyโ€™re terrified at the Heritage Foundationโ€™s excellent Project 2025 plan, which calls for age verification and is very critical of the so-called โ€œadultโ€ industry. Thus, vote for Kamala, who will make sure kids can see online smut.

Apparently, young men are big Trump supporters, and this totally organic plan aims to convince them otherwise. But it may have misfired, since the sales pitch vote Harris to save porn isnโ€™t resonating with wider audiences.

Given how she started her political career, I can see the connection.

And from the “I Didn’t See This Coming” department:

CBS ran a story yesterday headlined, โ€œAfghan national charged with planning Election Day attack previously worked for CIA in Afghanistan.โ€ Of course he did.

CLIP: DHS Secretary Mayorkas dodges questions about admitting terrorist into US (2:12).

Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi was arrested on Monday in Oklahoma City for planning a massive Election-day terror attack. He is an Afghani national enjoying benefits in the United States under a DHS parole program. The complaint erroneously said he held a special immigrant visa, which the State Department quickly denied.

In other words, the Department of Homeland Security pulled some strings to get Ahmad into the country.

It then turned out ISIS terrorist Ahmad used to work for the CIA in Afghanistan….

    /snip

Tuesdayโ€™s unsealed complaint alleged that Ahmad had recently sold his home … and all his stuff, to buy weapons and ammo and a ticket back to Afghanistan. After his arrest, Ahmad admitted to cops that he and his brother bought weapons for the Election Day attack. They planned to target large gatherings of people and โ€œexpected to be martyred.โ€

At Thursday’s White House press briefing, triply-diverse White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre refused to answer questions about Ahmadโ€™s case, citing an ongoing investigation, but insisted that “every Afghan national who entered the U.S. was screened and vetted by intelligence, law enforcement, counterterrorism professionals.”

    Wow. Who’d’a thunk it?

RE: DOJ vs. Big Tech “Platforms” antitrust efforts?

Both Google and Meta are in the Justice Departmentโ€™s antitrust division crosshairs, each subject to multiple investigations. Itโ€™s odd timing, since it has been over 40 years since the DOJ successfully prosecuted a major antitrust case. In 2000, the Justice Department sued to break up Microsoft, but failed after an appellate court found it unconstitutional.

In the same year as the DOJ lawsuit, 2000, then-Microsoft CEO Bill Gates first funded his โ€˜philanthropicโ€™ Foundation, which began his slow transition out of the software business and into climate change, vaccines, third-world development, and vacations on Jeffrey Epsteinโ€™s private island.

    /snip

Just a few months later in 2001, right after Gates funded his multibillion-dollar slush fund, the court of appeals made the Microsoft antitrust case go away…..

    ***
There is musing about how much help Gates is providing super secret agencies in the gubmint….

    ***

Who knows? This election season, one wonders whether, if Google and Meta help the government quash election-related misinformation, and maybe help fund some third-world conflict on the side, whether all these pesky DOJ investigations might just go away all on their own.

Mr. C. finishes with interesting notes on the growing closeness of N. Korea and Russia/Putin. NK is also increasing their military readiness on their border with S. Korea – not worrisome at all. Then there’s the whole BRICS mess.

After more discussion, I have to agree with Mr. C. – our generals should all retire. That includes the Commander in Chief. Or the meat puppet for the real CIC.

Our beautiful morning started at 55 degrees and held onto that for a bit and then dropped to 54 as Mr. Sun was rising for the day.

Nice to finally have it cooler in October as it is supposed to be. Currently holding at 88 with 43% humidity, but we are so dry that cracks are developing in our pastures, and the grass is now yellowish-green. Sprinkler system keeps the yards green and the house foundation watered. Yes, time to think about foundations when it is really dry for some time.

We missed most of the rain east Fort Bend County has gotten, and when it arrives near us it usually stops before it gets to us. We’ve had several instances of rain stopping across the street and not a drop on our side, just a wall of water on that side. This is not the time to plant Fall flowers.

Well, my purse rosary stash was totally depleted today. I’ve been waving and smiling at a crossing guard for a long time, and I crocheted a baby blanket for her new granddaughter about two years ago. She has to walk by swinging her legs from the hip, so I imagine she’s probably uncomfortable most of the time, but she always has big beautiful smile for me. Hubby has stopped to talk to her, too. She’s just a little light on our way to and from the shop.

Since there wasn’t traffic at the corner today, I stopped long enough to ask if she was Catholic (she is) and if she’d like a rosary (she did!). I pulled around the corner and she picked one out for her and for her daughter. While they were all out, a mother and her two kids were walking by. Before I knew it, she was calling out to the mother, asking if she wanted a rosary. All three of them got the last ones I had. I had to restock when I returned home.

As I left the corner and headed back to my car, she continued yelling out “thank you!” effusively, and I could her repeat over and over “they are so pretty, they are so beautiful!”

I don’t do it for the praise but it is gratifying and encouraging when someone appreciates your work. And I do love putting smiles on faces.

I stopped by Big Lots, since they’re going out of business. I caught some stuff on sale, and I perused each aisle, filling my cart. I kept meeting this black lady and a friend every aisle or two, and we kept laughing. We were both in the spice aisle, looking at items, and she told her friend “I’m buying more than I should, but…” I called out “My soul sister!” and both laughed and hugged each other with communal understanding.

It was a charming moment in my day.
