RFK:  The most reasonable lib I know of, maybe ‘ceptin’ Tulsi Gabbard.

Not that I trust them too far, but he says some right things, and I think he’s driven by principle on his favorite topics (health) than by the acquisition of power:

NOW – Robert F. Kennedy Jr Wants Everyone to Remember Three Rules:

1) When you give a government a power, it will never voluntarily relinquish it

2) If you give a government a power, it will ultimately abuse that power to the maximum extent possible

3) Nobody ever complied their way out of totalitarianism

Very good points from RFK Jr. Well it’s Thursday,…I think, I seem to be real discombobulated after my Road Trip, I can’t figure out what day it is.Oh well I got the trash out so there’s that.

Spotted over yonder; Andy is reloading some shotgun shells so he can shoot some crows over at Miller’s Flats. The shell looks like a Winchester AA Trap Load but I can’t figure who made the loader. Then again it does look like a Pro model, very large. Oh and ifin’ you didn’t know Winchester still makes some AA’s with paper hulls since they reload much better than plastic. 😉

The other day I mentioned going to Oscar’s Diner in Dothan back in the late 50’s early 60’s. Well the building is still there but it’s been vacant for a while. 410 North St. Andrews Street downtown. The building was a pale green when we went there and I vividly remember the glass block windows on the corners. It sure would be nice if some old dude would open it back up, complete with the old Rock-Ola and tile floor. I snapped a Screenshot in case it gets demolished.

    Today’s C&C – “F-“. I’ll bet.

Good morning, C&C, it’s Thursday! Already. Your roundup today includes: Cajun Navy sets sail for Hurricane Helene areas since folks can’t wait around for Biden to remember them; giddy corporate media runs tired January 6th claims as failing October Surprise; MSNBC gets unexpected answer from impeachment witness; corporate media coming around to painful admission that JD Vance won the Vance-Walz debate and tries claiming it doesn’t matter; Wall Street Journal fails journalism again by completely missing the point in Elon Musk political donation exposé; and citizens rally to save four-legged friends.

    ***

    Gotta love that Cajun Navy!

    ***

One skilled volunteer interviewed for the story said the need remains immense. “America needs to come together. You got to imagine these people lost everything. Everything. So when we are doing donation drives, I tell people that there’s no such thing as, ‘Will they need this?’ They need everything. Food, water, hygiene, medical supplies, tents, tarps, the whole nine — they need everything,” Army Veteran Curtis Drafton explained.

Help for Helene victims continues flooding in. This is America. This is self-reliance. This is how we do it.

I told Hubby this morning I need to make a donation to Samaritan’s Purse. AFAIK, they are one of the better run organizations. Do y’all know of any other worthy charities to help out these folks?

I simply can’t skip over this snarky prose regarding the “October /non-)Surprise” for this election cycle:

Yesterday, in giddy excitement, corporate media dropped its bath towel and raced out into the national dining room naked, forgetting all about stranded Hurricane Helene victims and the gathering vultures of nuclear war. They even forgot to put on their special prosthetic genitals. They are distracted by a much more intoxicating story, and so this morning the New York Times headlined the first of its multi-part series, “Judge Unseals New Evidence in Federal Election Case Against Trump.

    /snip

… In President Trump’s “J6 Insurrection” case in Washington DC, Judge Tanya Chutkan… unsealed prosecutor “Don’t Know Jack” Smith’s latest legal brief. As if coordinated, nearly every platform is running long, hyperbolic stories…

But if you read far enough down the story, the Times eventually coughed up the truth …

[insert discussion about this brief adding “texture” instead of “facts,” and the politically motivated timing in the unsealing of this brief now, just before the election. Election interference clothed in judicial process, anyone?]

… the Times… somehow completely missed the real story.

Remember when Joe Biden complained that the Supreme Court’s immunity decision turned Presidents into “kings,” and I told you the exact opposite was true? Jack Smith’s brief proved me right….

The days of de facto complete Presidential immunity are now, mercifully, over. We now exist in an exciting new era of personal Presidential liability,…. Future and other past Presidents should take careful note.

The corporate media is badly overestimating how helpful January 6th will be for Democrats as an October Surprise. On MSNBC (of all places), anchor Ari Melber asked an anti-Trump impeachment witness, EU Ambassador Gordon Sondland, to talk about how awful Trump was and so on. But the segment went off the rails when Gordon said he changed his mind. He’s planning voting for Trump now even after trying to help impeach the President. A shocked Melber gets visibly upset:

CLIP: Trump impeachment witness changes mind, says voting for Trump now (1:04).

… Melber tried again….reminding the Ambassador that he’d said before that the issue of January 6th and saving democracy was bigger than any other consideration. Gordon admitted he’d said that, and while it was true at the time, now “I am seeing so many attacks on Democracy that eclipse January 6.”

Gordon offered to provide examples, but wisely, Melber ended it there.

I wonder if Biden is worried about being prosecuted under this new revision of “presidential immunity”? Is he even aware of these events? Does he care? And then there’s Obama….

Next up, revelations that Musk donated politically before folks noticed. Duh. Why is this a story? Oh, probably because he didn’t donate the “right way”. Or “left way”. Or is it “wrong way”? I guess that is in the eye of each beholder.

It’s not news that the world’s richest (and most productive) man donates in large amounts. How is that news? Where are all the exposés about Bill Gates’s donations? Or George Soros? One hint may be that the WSJ called Elon “one of the biggest donors to conservative causes.” That, combined with Elon’s Twitter reach, led the Journal to deem the space entrepreneur “one of the most influential figures in U.S. politics.”

    /snip

Behold! One part of Musk’s personal political progress baffled the Wall Street Journal’s crack investigative team: [story about Musk donating to Trump]

    ***

Why did Musk go from Democrat to Republican so quickly? Why so transformational so rapidly?

Because liberalism in California caught up to Musk’s reality, that’s why.

    ***

Some folks still have legitimate concerns about Musk and his brain chip project. But you can’t deny that Elon Musk is doing more for our fellow Americans in the Western Carolinas than is the entire federal government:

[Musk x’ed about providing Starlink to affected areas, regardless of payment.]

Free satellite communications to all the affected areas. That must be expensive. But Musk is paying for his generosity and compassion in more ways than just with his money. Consider this op-ed headline from the Hill, two days ago:

As Musk lifts humanity, the left brands him ‘Public Enemy No. 2’

(The left’s Public Enemy Number One is, of course, Donald John Trump.)

Musk didn’t need to put himself in the left’s unforgiving crosshairs. He has a lot to lose. But he did it anyway, and for that, Elon Musk deserves much credit.

Because agenda trumps humanity for those on the left. Every. Dang. Time.

The first comment that I saw at the C&C:

Bless the Cajun Navy, Elon Musk, and all private citizens supporting devastated communities. Meanwhile, Kamala and Tim spent the weekend fundraising. NC and TN National guards were shipped out to the Middle East, Ukraine gets unlimited taxpayer dollars, and FEMA is running low on funds because they spent billions on illegals. This is what America Last looks like. “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”

  15. Tedtam Avatar

Screw FEMA. Mountain Mule Rescue is getting things done.

I just heard a guy on the Clay & Buck show, he’s holding over to the next hour. He just got his power and internet back, and he’s going to describe what they’ve been going through. So far, he’s said it’s neighbor helping neighbor, private citizens bringing their own supplies in and helping the stranded folks.

I also heard earlier on the radio that the government is stopping others who are trying to bring in supplies by boat, car, trailer, truck, guardian angel, whatever. The gubmint weasels want to consolidate everything and distribute it themselves.

Yeah, if I were heading in with supplies, I’d avoid the government stops like the plague. Like the plague they are.

WTH?! Does this mean no more helicopters bringing in aid???

Slow roasting over hot coals is too good for these morons.

  17. Tedtam Avatar
    Tedtam

h/t CFP: The reason the gubmint is halting supplies and aid to the disaster areas is…..MONEY!

I was able to coordinate several trucks full of supplies to be brought down to the EOC in Marathon. I was privy to the EOC meeting, BUT was informed in that meeting, that all of the semi trucks full of food, water and hygiene supplies were to be turned around and not allowed to be offloaded for distribution by the EOC.

THE REASON they gave us, was that these donations were not from companies on their “preferred vendors list” and that they would not accept them or give them to the residents of the keys impacted by the storm.

It was at that point that I realized, this is ALL ABOUT MONEY.

These ‘preferred vendors” are getting part of the money being released by the state and federal govt for each disaster. In turn, some of the “vendors” make it on the list because a friend gets them on the list, and in return for getting ridiculously outlandish amounts of compensation for the services they render, they give kickbacks.

So accepting outside donations, even though they are on location and can help people NOW, they would rather let people suffer so they can get their kickbacks.

This is an incredible story from a guy who organizes private relief during disasters. He was in Texas after Harvey. From CFP.

I cannot confirm the reasons why in NC, but i can tell you the reasons in other storms i have worked – i’ll explain below.

Let me share with you the first disaster area that i finally realized that this was all about money.

In the FL Keys with Hurricane Irma, after Texas got hit with Harvey, we finished our efforts in Texas and were the first citizen team to make it to Key Largo.

The federal agencies had US1 shut down just South of Key Largo and wouldn’t let anyone in or out, even though the road was okay to pass.

We explained to them that we had boats, Jet skis, food, water, chainsaws and fuel to bring these people.

They didn’t care and wouldn’t let us in.

Pretty slow around here, so I’ll rant about light bulbs.
My master bath has a three bulb triple flood light fixture.
In vain, I’ve been trying find replacements.

The government boobs and the advent of LEDs apparently have many retailers so confused that even Walmart has thrown up its hands and completely reduced their bulb inventory…..until everyone figures out what the hell they actually want to buy.
I stood in Walmart for some time looking at the offering of interior flood lamp bulbs. The are no incandescents, of course. Which is fine with me.
    Insert cuss words here.
They’re all Smart bulbs that require you to download an app or use Siri or some other crap. These damn bulbs use WiFi for God’s sake!!!
I bought the cheapest one (which I thought was not a Smart Bulb, even after reading the box). I was wrong. It will be returned.

Found a basic LED, 65W, interior flood lamp on Amazon. Thank God.

If you think I’m turning this house over to the Smart Cartel like ElGordo did, you’ve got another thing coming, Honey.

I am very blessed that I don’t have to get up in the middle of the night like many men my age, but if it comes to that, I can damn sure turn on my bedside lamp and walk into the bath room and flip a light switch without any help from the beady-eyed, pocket-protector engineers of the Smart Cartel.

I was highly disappointed with my numbers this morning. I’ve decided to keep a food diary and track my numbers in a spreadsheet. I suspect it’s a particular type of cheese that may be triggering the spike, but unless I write it down, I won’t know for sure.

And I forced myself to eat 3x today. I’m just not hungry, and watching some of the gurus of the diet last night, one of the main pitfalls of newbie carnivores is not eating enough, and not eating enough fat. It’s still hard for me to understand how these people in the videos can eat so much at one time, but I hear that in time, my body will crave it as well. Right now, I can eat a small plate of ground beef cooked in a skillet with some tallow or butter and be perfectly content all day. Then I see these skinny people eating a 10 oz. ribeye with 4-6 eggs, with butter slathered all over. Sometimes they do this twice a day. One guy doubles the amount of those meals, but he works out a lot, too. They sometimes snack on sticks of butter like they are popsicles. (I’m nowhere near that!) “Your body has to learn how to eat again.” Blows my ever lovin’ mind. Still. I’m told to stick it out for at least 90 days before evaluating my health status.

I’m interested in seeing how my labs look, after almost a month in this new way of eating (WOE).

    1. Tedtam Avatar
      Tedtam

I agree, but I also know that those fruits have been selectively bred and engineered to have more sugar than their originals. The before/after pictures of how our food has changed is amazing.

I indulged in all of that in my earlier years. For a while, ice cream was a whole separate food group in our house. I don’t know if all those years of indulgence caused my current sugar sensitivity, or if it’s just genetics. I guess it doesn’t matter now, I have to deal with what’s on my plate now. Metaphorically AND physically speaking.

    2. Texpat Avatar

One of the factors is American affluence and abundance. When we were kids, strawberries and pineapple were rare seasonal treats for short periods. Nobody was even growing peaches in Texas and avocados were very seasonal and expensive.

Watermelons lasted what – 3 months at the most ? There were Texas oranges and grapefruits. Pears from somewhere but they were here and then. I can walk into my Maywood Market or a local supermarket today and find fruit from all over the world all year long. It is amazing.

The best part is Mrs. Bonecrusher set the thing up (it was a freebie from her company insurance broker) and she shot as well and liked it. I think I can get her to do this more often on our dime. It only makes good sense to have a spouse that knows how to shoot. She used my Beretta semi-auto shotgun that my dad gave me when I was about 12 . . .over 50 years ago, the stock was shortened and it worked well for her. I never use it anymore because I shoot left and it ejects right . . . right past my face. I use a left-handed Remington 1100 in 12 ga, 28″ bbl, modified choke.
