Weekend Paganist Revision Time – Open Thread

WE ARE REPAGANIZING   by Louise Perry

There’s a very short and very brutal poem by the Scottish poet Hollie McNish, written in 2019 and titled “Conversation with an archaeologist”:

he said they’d found a brothel
on the dig he did last night
I asked him how they know
he sighed:
a pit of babies’ bones
a pit of newborn babies’ bones was how to spot a brothel

It’s true, you know,” said the writer and lawyer Helen Dale when we had lunch in London last year and I mentioned this poem, which I chose as one of the epigraphs to my book The Case Against the Sexual Revolution. Helen was a classicist before she was a lawyer, and as a younger woman she had taken part in archaeological excavations of ancient Roman sites. “First you find the erotic statuary,” she went on, “and then you dig a bit more and you find the male infant skeletons.” Male, of course, , whereas the female infants born to prostituted women were raised into prostitution themselves.

and do tell for the generations,

To mention abortion and infanticide in the same breath is a provocation. A majority of voters in Britain and America regard abortion as permissible in some circumstances, whereas very few are willing to say the same of infanticide (with some notable exceptions, as we will see). But this distinction has not been made by all peoples at all times. The anthropologist David F. Lancy describes the “far more common pattern”:

Among the ancient Greeks and Romans sickly, unattractive, or unwanted infants were “exposed” or otherwise eliminated; the Chinese and Hindus of India have, since time immemorial, destroyed daughters at birth, to open the way for a new pregnancy and a more desirable male offspring; the Japanese likened infanticide to thinning the rice plants in their paddies; among foragers such as the Inuit or the Jivaro, unwanted babies were left to nature to claim.

Do read it all.

Good Morning from Lampasas Texas. I rolled in here about 7 PM after having lunch with the NASA Crew at the Classic Cafe and yes I did get my Blackened Snapper, Fries N Slaw fix, oh and Cherry Cobbler for dessert. I’m heading over to San Saba to meet up with El Gordo at Larry’s Corner Cafe for breakfast then I’m off to Sweetwater where I’ll meet daughter at the WASP Museum. Daughter says that tonight we’ll all watch the Alabama/Georgia game and it should be a good one. Later,…..

Behind-the-Scenes Details: The decision to eliminate Nasrallah was made on Wednesday, and the Prime Minister’s flight was a deception maneuver.

The decision to eliminate Nasrallah was made on Wednesday. From that point on, they waited for the necessary intelligence. After the decision, they debated whether to cancel the Prime Minister’s trip abroad. Ultimately, they decided to proceed with the trip to maintain an appearance of business as usual to Hezbollah.

This morning at 10 o’clock, the Prime Minister held a briefing from his hotel room with the Defense Minister. After the meeting, they continued waiting for intelligence. Today, just half an hour before the Prime Minister’s speech at the UN, sensitive intelligence arrived, providing a definitive indication: Nasrallah was present at the location. The Prime Minister approved the operation and immediately delivered his speech. Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi oversaw the attack from the Air Force command center.

This is really disturbing. Did Newport News hire a bunch of illegal alien Chinese welders ?

Shipuilder Newport News Shipbuilding, Va., informed the Department of Justice of faulty welds that may have been made intentionally on non-critical components on in-service Navy submarines and aircraft carriers, USNI News has learned.

HII reported to the Navy that welds on new construction and in-service submarines and Ford-class aircraft carriers were made not following welding procedure, according to a Tuesday memo from Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition Nickolas Guertin to Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Lisa Franchetti.

Guertin told SECNAV and CNO the workers did not follow proper techniques to weld the suspect joints with an early indication that some of the welding errors were intentional. Based on the Newport News assessment of the welds, the shipyard notified the Department of Justice over the issue.

The U.S. delegation raised eyebrows when a gray-haired, bespectacled man—whom JNS has not yet identified—occupied the ambassador’s chair, with two other men sitting to his left. Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. envoy to the global body, and Robert Wood, the political special affairs ambassador who tends to take her place at the Security Council, did not appear to be in the room.

Dorothy Shea, the newly-appointed deputy ambassador and former envoy to Lebanon, also appeared to be absent, as did the other two people listed on the U.S. State Department website as among the mission’s “leaders,” Christopher Lu and Lisa Carty, when the camera panned across the U.S. delegation’s section about 19 minutes into Netanyahu’s speech.

    Elise Stefanik…

“Not only did Kamala Harris fail to attend Prime Minister Netanyahu’s joint address to Congress, but now both Secretary Blinken and the U.S. ambassador to the U.N. failed to attend Prime Minister Netanyahu’s historic speech at the U.N.,” wrote Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), the chair of the House Republican Conference. “Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have turned their backs on our most precious ally Israel again and again.”

    He is dead
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the leader of the Hezbollah terrorist organization, Hassan Nasrallah, died in its strike Friday against the group’s headquarters in Lebanon.
“This is not the end of our toolbox. The message is simple, anyone who threatens the citizens of Israel – We will know how to reach them,” the IDF’s Chief of the General Staff, Ltf. Herzi Halevi said of the elimination of Nasrallah.
The IDF attacked the Iran-backed terror proxy’s headquarters in southern Beirut, revealing that they had targeted Nasrallah. A Hezbollah media relations official initially claimed he was “fine and well,” but the Israelis confirmed his death early the next morning.

Finished my rosaries, the praying and making, plus I watered my garden while grounding, and harvested three items. I’m not really actively gardening; haven’t been for a while. Been too dang hot and I’ve been a bit preoccupied with healing up from dental trauma to focus on the failing, aging plants outside.

Don’t know that I’m going to do much from here on out. Maybe some leafy greens for Hubby’s salads, some tomatoes and stuff. Herbs. My herbs don’t seem to succumb to the insects like the veggies do. I don’t think the herbs will interfere with my carnivore diet much.

My blood sugar was way high this morning, and I think I’m going to have to do the elimination diet: start with the BBBE diet (beef, butter, bacon, and eggs) for a while, then when I’ve stabilized the blood sugar, start adding other food items. I’m suspecting there’s some dairy item that’s a problem. I made a butter cream sauce for my fish last night, and had cream in my coffee after dinner. My ketones are the at a higher level than ever, which means I’m supposed to be burning fat, but the BS and weight aren’t reacting as I suspected.

I may have to join one of the carnivore communities to get some insight as to why my numbers aren’t behaving as I expected them to. My BS numbers have improved, most days, so I’m on the right track.

    Today’s C&C:

Good morning, C&C, it’s Saturday! Power at the house came back late yesterday afternoon (office remains dark), but internet is still down. I’m blogging in slow motion using my cell tether which, based on its glacial performance, is what everybody else must be doing too. Your essential news today begins with — what else? — a Hurricane Helene roundup.

    ***

Category 4 Hurricane Helene raced right into the Sunshine State’s armpit around 11pm Thursday night, about 10 miles west of sleepy Perry, Florida and just 100 miles from where I live in Gainesville. Then the storm shot, as though fired from a cannon, tearing across several southern states and wreaking havoc as far north as Tennesee, collapsing interstatesopening sinkholesoverwhelming damsspawning tornadoestumbling rockslideswashing cars and homes away, and wiping some small towns completely off the map. The New York Times ran one of the many stories headlined, “Destruction Spreads Across Southeast as Helene Spawns Floods and Landslides.

He goes on to describe the swath of destruction. Devastating.

Record flooding is happening worldwide, and seems related to the massive amount of extra water in the atmosphere that I reported on back in July of 2023 (“Overheated”), and to all the extra solar energy we’ve been getting lately. If you prefer to chew on some insightful conspiracy theories about the hurricane, I recommend In2ThinAir.

And fluoride is now being studied. I’ve heard off and on over the years that fluoride was suspect:

NBC ran a truly remarkable story this week headlined, “EPA must review risks of risks of fluoride in drinking water to children, judge rules.” Not that long ago, questioning flouride was on par with the Lizard People Hypothesis and was more likely to get you a lithium prescription than a court hearing.

    /snip

“The scientific literature in the record provides a high level of certainty that a hazard is present; fluoride is associated with reduced IQ,” wrote Judge Edward Chen, an Obama appointee. It was a cautious decision that stopped far short of concluding the flouride is actually a public health menace. But it’s opened the door.

One thing is sure; flouride is big business and has long enjoyed the protection of the mindless follow the science trickery that deceived so many of us for so long.,,,,

A brave decision like this would have been impossible until very recently. Even if some judge somewhere had ruled against flouride, the media would have relentlessly mocked it into oblivion and the judge had retired under pressure. But things are different now; now the media reported the story straight. We can thank the lost trust in our so-called expert class from the pandemic. Nobody believes their pallid assurances now, not even Obama judges. We want proof.

Speaking of suspect, it seems the Secret Service’s behavior is more suspect than ever:

According to officers’ testimony in the Senate, a Butler County Emergency Services officer fired at Thomas Crooks less than six seconds after Crooks began shooting. The officer’s bullet made Crooks recoil and stop shooting—ending the threat. Only then did the Secret Service sniper fire at Crooks —about 15 seconds later.

Count out fifteen seconds to yourself to see how long it is.

There appears to be some dispute about whether Butler’s officer shot Crooks or not. The FBI says they missed. Butler thinks they wounded and disabled Crooks. We’ll never know, since the FBI quietly and inexplicably released Crooks’ body for cremation in the days following the incident. Maybe when they tested Crooks’ body, it came up positive for covid and they panicked.

IMHO, the coroner’s report that a SS bullet ended the WBA’s life is suspect, just like anything else coming out of this administration.

The fact is, a local cop was the first to react to the threat, and the SS waited an interminably long time to do their job. I think it’s despicable the SS is taking credit for eliminating the threat. Or, rather, eliminating the threat to their credibility, employment, and the Democrat plans to take out their main competition to the seats of power.

When Crooks was no longer a danger to anyone, was it then his time to exit the world’s stage? I wouldn’t even entertain a conspiratorial question like that if it weren’t for the equally unbelievable alternative explanation that the Secret Service catastrophically failed in about a dozen different ways.

After all, local cops were presumably less well-trained than the Secret Service snipers, and the cops occupied a less favorable position to take the shot since they were shooting at Crooks from the ground and not a sniper’s perch.

Why were local police more effective than trained Secret Service snipers?

    Good question.

And promising news on Trump’s appeals:

In the best story of the week, the New York Times ran an article headlined, “Trump’s Huge Civil Fraud Penalty Draws Skepticism From Appeals Court.

The headline referred to Trump’s Inflated Real Estate case, where New York Judge Arthur Engoran soaked Trump for a $500 million dollar fine, for “overestimating” the value of his priceless real estate holdings. You’ll recall that wispy-haired Judge Engoran,…, substituted his own judgment of what Trump’s totally unique properties like Mar-A-Lago were worth.

…Whichever, Judge Engoran found Trump liable for civil fraud despite there being no fraud victims, despite that all Trump’s loans were paid back in full, and despite that the involved banks all testified they didn’t rely on Trump’s financials anyway.

According to the story, during the oral arguments the five-member panel of appellate judges asked lawyers questions seeming highly skeptical about Judge Engoran’s judicial misadventures. Justice Moulton, who seemed generally unsympathetic to Trump’s lawyers, still observed at one point that “the immense penalty in this case is troubling.”

I recall my conversation with BETA yesterday. Her TDS on full display, she was almost gleeful about Trump “trying to stay out of jail”. There would be no explaining just how stupid these charges are, even if I have some modicum knowledge of real estate, loans, etc., and she has no clue. It’s Trump, and any charge is valid, as long as the means justifies the ends. It’s sickening, and I have to l love her in spite of the madness.

Mr. C. discusses the questions and behaviors of the parties involved in the appeals process. It seems these justices may actually be reasonable.

It wouldn’t take all five justices to vacate the judgment. Engoran’s excessive award could be reversed with a decision by only three of the five justices. Questions appellate judges ask at oral argument aren’t always reliable signals but in many cases, they are decent barometers of the way things might be trending.

I predict they will send the case back for a drastically reduced award. While there is a chance they could reverse the judgment altogether —which is what should happen— given the politics involved, a full reversal seems unlikely.

The whole fluoride dispute is obviously a conspiracy of collusion by America’s Dental Cabal. Over the last 60 years, the prevalence of fluoride in the public water supply has reduced children’s cavities to near zero. Some of these poor dentists are starving unless, of course, they have the good luck to run across a patient like Tedtam.

And the reason American children’s IQ is down is because we have a Department of Education in DC and social media like TikTok. I know it’s hard for people to accept, but it is the cold, hard truth.

    1. Bonecrusher Avatar
      Bonecrusher

I would submit that the fluoride in THE TOOTHPASTE has much more to do with the reduction in cavities than having it in the water. Show me the study that ingesting fluoride in water has any additional benefit to simply brushing the teeth with fluoridated toothpaste. Calcium fluoride is naturally occurring, potassium fluoride is a by product of aluminum production and nuclear reactors.

When we were showing our horses in amateur-to-show classes one year and were also vehicle hunting, we decided that looking at vehicles was not much different than judging halter classes. We caught ourselves looking over the vehicles the same way we would judge horses. And that was much more looking and judging than we had ever done with vehicles before, 🙂

There are ways to create support for your candidacy in key battleground states, particularly a volatile place like Michigan. This is not one of them.

University of Michigan fans vigorously booed Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz Saturday as he forced them to wait in the rain while his motorcade arrived at the Wolverine’s game against Minnesota Saturday.

The drenched fans at the Ann Arbor stadium also chanted “Tampon Tim” at the Democratic vice-presidential nominee — an apparent dig at a law Walz signed in Minnesota allowing free tampons in schools, including in boys rooms.

While some bused-in supporters held signs backing Walz and Vice President Kamala Harris, his hefty security detail prompted booing as it forced Michigan fans to wait up to 30 minutes in the rain before they were allowed to enter the venue.

I went in and informed the cashier what had happened, she pulled the manager aside who showed her how to do the refund on the computer and assured me that he was putting my order in immediately. and this,

Following the assassination of IRGC General Mohammad Reza Zahedi in an Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus in April, Nilforoushan “assumed command of the Lebanon front,” according to the Tehran-based Fararu website.

Nilforoushan was killed in an Israeli attack on a meeting between Nasrallah, top Hezbollah members, and IRGC commanders. In a statement about Nasrallah’s death, Khamenei said that the meeting was focused on designing a military plan to counter the recent wave of Israeli attacks in Lebanon.

There is a video linked here everyone should see.

    The Giorgia Meloni Death Stare.

I don’t have much use for European governments, particularly the French and Belgian versions. My hostility for the EU is unlimited. You might have thought the old days of 19th century soul-sucking exploitation of poverty stricken nations is a relic of the past.

Little Emmanuel Macron started a war last summer with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the big G-7 Summit hosted by Italy. They fought over illegal immigration, abortion and other issues. This is the look Giorgia gave to Macron. If she looked at me like that, I’d hire more bodyguards.

But this is the super knockout punch. Meloni has won unanimously and humiliated France forever.

There aren’t enough words in English to describe how much I hate the mainstream media in this world.

Nasrallah rose to the top of the terror organization in February 1992. A month later, Hezbollah operatives killed 29 people in a suicide bombing attack on the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires. The terror group’s subsequent 1994 attack on the AMIA Jewish community center in Buenos Aires killed 85.

In 1983, one year after Nasrallah helped found Hezbollah, the terror organization murdered 32 Lebanese, 17 Americans, and 14 visitors in its bombing of the U.S. embassy in Beirut. The attack’s planners became commanders under Nasrallah, who died a rich man, carrying a net worth of $250 million thanks mostly to illicit drug smuggling.

Most of those details were left out of lengthy obituaries published in the Washington PostNew York Times, and Associated Press.

The Post lauded Nasrallah’s “folksy yet articulate manner” and described the terrorist as a “savior” among his followers. The Times billed Nasrallah as a “charismatic religious and political leader and military strategist who had dedicated his life to ‘resistance,’ or the fight against Israel.” The AP lamented the Jewish state’s dangerous “escalation” in killing Nasrallah and called him a “charismatic and shrewd strategist.”

Lee Smith at Tablet, always brilliant…

Israel Teaches America How to Win Wars

By ordering the strike on Nasrallah while attending the U.N. General Assembly, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu underscored the Jewish state’s independence from the global consensus that has resolved not to confront terrorists but rather to appease them, whether they’re plotting in the Middle East or living among the local populations of Western nations, including the United States. Israel’s attack also shows that almost everything U.S. and other Western civilian and military leaders have believed about the Middle East for the last 20 years was simply a collection of excuses for losing wars. The questions that senior policymakers and Pentagon officials, think-tank experts and journalists have deliberated over since the invasion of Iraq—questions about the nature of modern warfare and the proper conduct of international relations in a multipolar world, etc.—can now be set aside for good because they have been resolved definitively.

The answers are as they ever were—at least before the start of the “global war on terror.” Contrary to the convictions of George W. Bush-era neoconservatives and the pro-Iran progressives in Barack Obama’s camp, securing a nation’s peace has nothing to do with winning narratives, or nation-building, or balancing U.S. allies against your mutual enemies for the sake of regional equilibrium, or any of the other academic theories generated to mask a generation’s worth of failure. Rather, it means killing your enemies, above all those who advocate and embody the causes that inspire others to exhaust their murderous energies against you. Thus, killing Nasrallah was essential.

For you Dietrich Bonhoeffer fans from the people who made the Sound of Freedom cinematic blockbuster that went on to make $250 million worldwide.

    Bonhoeffer: Pastor. Spy. Assassin.

“I hope it inspires youth and everybody and demonstrates the courage of this man,” Emmanuel Kampouris, one of the producers of the film, told the Washington Examiner. “It’s very uplifting, and especially in today’s environment. You see a very truthful man who saw the world as it was and stood up to what was evil, essentially, and spoke the truth.”

Camille Kampouris, Emmanuel Kampouris’s wife and co-producer, explained she and her husband are both Christians, and they hope this film will “raise up” modern young men and women to speak up and oppose evil, even if it means paying “the ultimate price.”

The film’s release comes as antisemitism has grown exponentially in the United States and across the world, including the Oct. 7 attack by the Hamas terrorist group against Israel. Camille Kampouris explained she and her husband saw a growth in antisemitism when they started working on this film 12 years ago and called it “God’s timing” that it’s releasing later this year.

Using intelligence from an Iranian mole to ensure his presence before launching the deadly attack, “the Israelis went all out; they didn’t want to miss their target,” Le Parisien quoted the unnamed Lebanese security source as saying.

According to the source, the Iranian infiltrator informed the Israelis about the imminent arrival of the Shiite leader on Friday afternoon of Friday, a few hours before the strikes.

Israel’s F-35s, equipped with bunker-buster bombs, were reportedly waiting in Lebanese airspace for the target to arrive at the command center.

According to Le Parisien, Nasrallah arrived at his command center for an emergency meeting along with a commander of IRGC’s extraterritorial Quds Force regiment, shortly after the funeral of Mohamed Hussein Srour, a Hezbollah drone unit commander killed in an airstrike the day before.

The liberation of the Iranian people cannot come soon enough.

Take a look at the group photo under the headline.

Hezbollah’s actions have gone beyond mere regional politics. The group has been involved in suppressing dissent in LebanonSyria, and even Iran. During the Syrian civil war, Hezbollah fighters actively supported the Assad regime, known for mass atrocities and human rights violations. Furthermore, many Iranians believe that Hezbollah operatives aided in suppressing protests in Iran, particularly during the 2022 “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement. The crackdown on these protests involved violent tactics, including shooting protesters with shotgun birdshots, resulting in numerous injuries and deaths.

The “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests in 2022 were a pivotal moment in Iran, marking widespread dissent against the regime’s oppressive policies, especially those targeting women. Iranian security forces used brutal measures to suppress the movement. According to reports, at least 138 individuals lost their eyesight. In addition to this brutal repression, at least 46 children were killed by Iranian security forces during the protests, targeted by birdshots, long-range precision weapons, and baton blows. Many protesters, including these children, were systematically targeted, with security forces aiming for their eyes and faces, leaving deep psychological scars on the Iranian populace.

Why Are Iran’s Thugs Free to Walk the Streets of New York ?

Across the city, the 69-year-old Iranian leader’s message of coexistence wasn’t resonating. As he was speaking, Masih Alinejad, who is among Tehran’s most outspoken political opponents in the U.S., got the news that she had been rejected by a Manhattan co-op board.

“The co-op rejected me and my husband. Why? Because, when they Google us, they realize that they don’t want to share their building with someone being followed around by people with AK-47s,” said the 48-year-old dissident.

The board didn’t overtly say that its decision was driven by fear, but Alinejad told The Free Press she’s certain that Tehran’s repeated, and highly publicized, attempts to assassinate her on American soil—including at her home—drove the board’s decision.

Alinejad, who has lived in 21 different safe houses under FBI protection over the past three years, is constantly shifting her locations. “Because the U.S. government can’t protect us, the Iranian regime’s fear is working. They’re isolating us.”

There are hired hit men and thugs from Iran, Isis, al-Qaeda, China and other places looking to murder people in America. The threat has become much worse since Biden/Harris opened our borders.

One of the frontline actors in this week’s drama is Iran International, the 24-hour Persian language television channel that’s officially banned inside Iran. Started only seven years ago, with funding from a politically connected Saudi-British investor and media company, the network has become Iran’s most-watched independent news organization, in part, because of its confrontational approach toward the Islamic Republic.
