Thursday’s Cowboy Appreciation Day – Open Comments & Complaints

The Fall of the Cowboy by Frederic Remington

A Cowboy’s Prayer by John and Alan Lomax

Recorded by Johnny Cash

I thank you, Lord, that I’m placed so well
That you’ve made my freedom so complete
That I’m no slave to whistle, clock or bell
Nor weak eyed prisoner of Waller Street
Just let me live my life as I’ve begun
And give me work that’s open to the sky
Make me a partner of the wind and sun
And I won’t ask a life that’s soft or high

Let me be easy on the man that’s down
Let me be square and generous with all
I’m careless sometimes, Lord, when I’m in town
But never let them say I’m mean or small
Make me as big and open as the plains
And honest as the horse between my knees
Clean as a wind that blows behind the rains
Free as the hawk that circles down the breeze

Forgive me, Lord, if sometimes I forget
You know about the reasons that are hid
You understand the things that gall or fret
Well, you knew me better than my mother did
Just keep an eye on all that’s done or said
And right me sometimes when I turn aside
And guide me on that long, dim trail ahead
That stretches upward toward the great divide

The rest of the lyrics are here.

I had some glitchy thing happen last night when I was composing the OC post today. Suddenly, when I was almost through, Word Press had a big hiccup and my post vanished. Never happened before. I started over and reposted and then the vanishing original post reappears here this morning.

The other day I mentioned Burt Munro and “The World’s Fastest Indian” the movie (2005) and this morning I see this neat picture of Burt Munro at Bonneville.

Burt Munro and “The World’s Fastest Indian”

The Top 20 Best Movies with Motorcycles.

No article on Charles B. Franklin’s Indian Scout would be complete without a mention of the fastest Indian Scout ever taken to the Bonneville Salt Flats.

A gentleman named Burt Munro from “The Land of the Long White Cloud” (i.e New Zealand) purchased an original 1920 Indian Scout and rode it until 1926 before deciding he’d like to make it go a bit faster.

Burt’s bike had been the 627th to leave the Hendee Manufacturing Company factory and had been fitted with the original 37 cu. in./606 cc engine. By the time he took his heavily modified Indian to Bonneville in 1963 the engine displaced 850 cc and he set an 883 cc class speed record of 178.95 mph/288 km/h. When he went back in 1966 the bike’s engine was now 920 cc and he set a 1,000 cc Class record of 168.07 mph/270.476 km/h.

    Sad, sad story.

    Marriage is tough, folks.

Sometimes, even the best partnerships fall apart, despite every effort to save the union. And there’s no better example than transgender influencer, model, and Mariah Carey impersonator “Suellen” Carey, who has announced an end to his one-year marriage … to himself.

    and,

“Initially, Carey’s self-marriage symbolized self-love and independence, challenging societal norms. Despite her [sic] efforts, including attending couple therapy, she [sic] found it difficult to maintain high self-demands and perfection,” Pubity said. “Now, she’s [sic] returning to the dating scene, emphasizing the importance of knowing when to close a chapter.”

On Tuesday, Gavin Newsom signed a bill to outlaw AI deepfakes in California that are made with the purpose of deceiving voters.

(It’s anybody’s guess what exactly that means, which is the point.)

The Babylon Bee (with its office in California, by the way) decided to put together an election ad with Newsom’s voice to test the new law’s exception for satire.

    And it is perfect.

I meant to post this yesterday.

The Rise of the Keffiyeh Karen

But if that original Karen caricatured the wrong person, then there are some modern female types that deserve closer scrutiny. There is the person I like to call the Keffiyeh Karen — the female student with a bare midriff and her head wrapped in the black or red and white patterning of Palestinian liberation, yelling anti-Zionist slogans with manic passion on elite college campus quadrangles and lawns.

In her ready and confident fury, her rudeness, her iron-fisted appetite for confrontation over infractions of what she deems political and moral gospel, the Keffiyeh Karen is related to a broader epidemic of the Gen Z Mean Girl. These Mean Girls have graduated from running the schoolyard to terrorizing the workplace. If there is one type to be afraid of in modern offices, it isn’t the lech or the shouty, hungover male middle manager. It’s the twenty-three-year-old gluten-free vegan graduate, wet behind the ears. We know what these misanthropic misses are capable of — we’ve seen the Phoebes and Annas of Just Stop Oil chuck soup on Van Gogh.

    and this,

The other cause is the massive shift leftwards of young women. Forty percent of women aged eighteen to twenty-nine identify as “liberal” (which often means anything but) — opening a sizable gap with men of the same age, according to Gallup data. That gap is five times larger than it was in 2000. It’s not that right-wing ladies can’t be aggressive — see Ann Coulter, Katie Hopkins, Giorgia Meloni, Marine Le Pen. But there is something particularly humorless and stern about the self-styled progressive Lefty Lass — nothing is ever proper enough for her, or miserable enough, or righteous enough.

    The esteemed Douglas Murray…

There are a number of joys in life that do not get enough attention. One is the sheer, unadulterated pleasure that can be gained from watching a politician speak about something they know nothing about. This season Kamala Harris is giving especially abundant material for connoisseurs. Recognizing that there is plenty she doesn’t know about, her campaign team are hoping that she can glide into office without having to say anything about what she might do once there.

    and,

An equal pleasure can come from seeing a politician talk about something that they cannot do a darn thing about. Ever since Tony Blair government’s appalling process of devolution in Britain, the devolved governments in Scotland and Wales are absolute fly-traps for this sort of grandstanding. It is one of many reasons why, when I assume power, their horrendous buildings will be shuttered, bulldozed, and the earth salted over.

Lawprof Josh Blackman unloads on Justice Elena Kagan. Wow !

South Texas College of Law Houston professor Josh Blackman argued in Reason that the New York Times’ report was “far worse than the Dobbs leak” in 2022, when Alito’s draft decision overturning Roe v. Wade was leaked to Politico. He noted the latest leaks are “systematic and thorough,” requiring insights from “so many different people.”

“Moreover, all of this comes after the Dobbs leak when Chief Justice Roberts (apparently) put strict limitations on access to Court information,” he wrote. “What did all of those measures accomplish? Apparently not much.”

Blackman wrote that he believes Justice Elena Kagan’s absence from the reporting suggests she or her surrogates are behind the leaks.

“If Kagan is willing to publicly undermine her colleagues in a speech at the Ninth Circuit, why would she do any less off-the-record?” he wrote. “Moreover, this entire story is consistent with Kagan’s MO, and describing the Court as bending over backwards for Trump.”

This reflects the “secular left’s” inability to deal with the frustrations of life in an adult way. The article suggests that the liberals’ frustrations with being in the minority has resulted in their acting out by leaking secret court dealings and trying to undermine the court.

The mayor and local officials have been strangely silent about the George Ten gangster living in their midst. I wonder how much money and favors are getting passed around in little, old Springfield.

But in just 72 hours, I uncovered something sinister that is the real story in this town of about 58,000 locals and an estimated 15,000 migrant workers—a long-standing, hidden human trafficking network that has upended the lives of both the Haitian migrants and local residents. According to sources, with whistleblowers coming forward, FBI anti-trafficking agents and Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost are investigating the allegations of human trafficking in Springfield.

What began as my efforts to track down a rumor about animal cruelty has turned into an investigation that reveals a malignant system of labor exploitation involving a local businessman, George Ten, whom Haitians and local residents call “King George,” the chief executive at First Diversity Staffing Group Inc., a Springfield company that has been the tip of the spear in the alleged trafficking operation of Haitians to the town.

While Haitians have lived in homes condemned now with an “X” on the front door, he lives in a $1.35 million mansion on Pawleys Plantation Court in a ritzy neighborhood called “Estates at Country Club of the North.”

    He’s right, you know.

The only thing that would’ve made Israel’s actions funnier would’ve been if they triggered the beepers to play a few bars of “Hatikvah” before detonating.

The big story that the media are missing, however, is what comes next.

The pager bombing may or may not be over: Today, there are even reports of walkie-talkies(!) exploding in Lebanon!

But if hair dryers start blowing up, I guess we’ll all know who was responsible. Well, those terrorists were forewarned: You DON’T mess with the Zohan.

Either way, Israel’s actions carried a secondary message — one that the media overlook but will soon coalesce in the hearts and minds of Israel’s adversaries: We delivered you these pagers. We’ve been tracking your movements for months. We know where you are currently. We know where you go for your “secret meetings.” We know who you’re meeting with. We know everything about who you are and what you do.

And furthermore, if we want a drone to drop a bomb on your head, we’ll do so at a time of our own choosing.

Interesting facts emerged when Gaetz grilled Homeland Security Investigations Chief Katrina W. Berger. Other than the fact that he’d been on their radar for his Ukrainian antics.

The WBA (wannabe assa$$in) was married, to a woman that some social media sleuths tracked down:

If it’s her, Kathleen works for a giant, international, publicly traded company you never heard of called Maximus.

According to its LinkedIn profile, Maximus Corporation —just wait, you can’t make this stuff up— is headquartered at 1600 Tysons Blvd, McLean, Virginia. Just six miles to the Northwest of Maximus HQ lies Langley, Virginia, where the United States Central Intelligence Agency is located:

    You don’t say!

The rather vague company website is probably so on purpose, but Maximus is linked to pushing the jab and also helping “asylum seekers” get into the country. Go figger.

ChatGPT said “Maximus Corporation has significant connections to the U.S. security state.”

It is difficult to imagine what unemployed ex-contractor Ryan Routh and Ms. Shaffer might have in common. But love is a mysterious thing. Assuming we have the correct Kathleen Shaffer in Hawaii who funded Ryan Routh’s Ukrainian adventures, it is very weird she works for a murky, security state-connected, multinational corporation located just down the street from the Central Intelligence Agency.

It takes longer to drop the kids off at school than drive from Maximus to CIA HQ. I’m just saying.

But nevermind! It’s probably just a coincidence. Matt Gaetz’s interview of Director Berger ended with his question why, like the FBI before it, Homeland Security also declined to follow up with investigating Ryan Routh. Director Berger didn’t know, but promised to find out.

I’m not holding my breath. Are you?

Mr. C. reports that the source of the exploding comms devices is more murky than a dark pond. Interesting read.

He follows that with the dismal state of American health care system. Yeah, another reason to pursue healthy lifestyles rather than depend on my doctor and Big Pharma.

    And finally – Teamster news:

On Monday, the IBT’s leaders created history by splitting the baby, announcing the union will not endorse either candidate this year. The reason for the historic non-endorsement is that most of its Democrat-leaning members (60%) supported Trump. Why not endorse Trump? The Teamsters are probably fearful of crossing easily-offended and revenge-minded Democrats.

If the Teamster’s own internal poll of reliably liberal, politically active membership breaks 60%/34% in Trump’s favor, what are we to make of corporate media’s polling showing the candidates neck-and-neck?

    Something isn’t adding up.

If the Teamsters supports Trump 60% to 34%, I’m thinking the corporate media polls are completely fake. What do you think?

Me thinks the Dems are trying to pull a fast one, and the Teamsters knew that and are seriously ticked off that the Dems think they would fall for it. It’s the Dems who are dumb as a post. They certainly do know how to insult folks.

And the Dems must be braindead not to realize the work those folks do reaches every part of Americans’ lives in that they deliver lots a stuff, to about everybody in our nation. Not once nor twice but constantly to everybody who buys almost anything in stores, for a big instance.

You’d think the Dems might have noticed that grocery stores are not found on great big farms that produce your food. It has to be moved to the grocery stores before you can shop for it. Same goes for any kind of store, the items sold within were not made there on the spot. Somebody who makes things brought them there or sent them there for sale. They did not arrive by ox cart.

I keep hearing on the carnivore videos, especially from Dr. Chaffee, that “plants are trying to kill you!” I’d never heard this before, so I went to find a web site that might explain the why’s and wherefore’s. Here’s one that I found. The plants have developed natural defenses against herbivores and pests. Those herbivores have developed defenses against them, while we humans haven’t done that yet.

I’m not saying I’ll never eat a vegetable again, but it gives me pause. The study report that said we eat 1.5 gms of natural pesticide (from the plants themselves) was eye opening. I do love broccoli and tomatoes. /sigh

That is so much bull. With the fall of man in the garden we became carnivores. It is no longer natural for our bodies to subsist on plant food only. I have read where so called vegans are actually very unhealthy because they are not receiving the proteins only meat can provide. Furthermore the problems as you pointed out is the presence of pesticides in our foods and the genetics of plants have been messed with. And yes there are some plants that have NATURAL pesticide by most have been changed by man to be buf resistant through changing the plants genes.

The state of journalism is so poor and squalid today it is no wonder this story has been missed or ignored by what constitutes the mainstream corporate media today. It took a serious, professional investigative reporter named Asra Q. Nomani, a politically conservative, Muslim reformer and critic of Islam to go to Springfield, Ohio and do the work no one else has done. Nomani wrote the book, Woke Army: The Red/Green Alliance That Is Destroying America’s Freedom.

Here is her report from Springfield, the real truth, and it is not about cats, ducks and dogs.

But in just 72 hours, I uncovered something sinister that is the real story in this town of about 58,000 locals and an estimated 15,000 migrant workers—a long-standing, hidden human trafficking network that has upended the lives of both the Haitian migrants and local residents. and,

According to sources, the network has become so significant and, thus, drawn the attention of the area FBI field office and Ohio Attorney General Yost, with the whistleblowers revealing the inner secrets of this operation. According to sources, the FBI has binders of evidence documenting the properties owned by “King George” and the systematic transport of Haitian immigrants to Springfield, Ohio, in dilapidated, unmarked white vans from Florida and other states. The areas of investigation include the almost 50 homes that George owns in Springfield, housing the migrants in squalid conditions, under the name of a limited liability corporation. George oversees a spider’s web of at least 10 shell corporations that I’ve discovered through court records and sources say he uses them to funnel money, property and assets, including his Audi, Mercedes and Porsche cars.

This is a story of unchecked greed and cruelty, committed not by the immigrants, but to the immigrants, with local residents of Springfield also a casualty.

A journalist and strategic analyst focusing on Middle Eastern affairs from the United Arab Emirates took aim at Iranian-backed anti-Israel terrorist groups Wednesday, castigating them for the attacks on Israel on October 7th, and mocking Hezbollah after a pair of apparent Israeli attacks left thousands of terrorists injured.

Amjad Taha, author of The Deception of the Arab Spring, excoriated Hamas and Hezbollah in a tweet Wednesday night, while cheering a pair of attacks – widely attributed to Israel – targeting Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon and Syria.

“You dared to strike at a smart and courageous nation on October 7th—committing genocide, kidnapping their children, and violating their women,” Taha wrote.

“You thought they would fall, but they rose again, returning after 11 months to correct what had only momentarily slipped—their intelligence. Now, they will send you back 1,000 years, to a time without technology, where a ringtone feels like a death knell and a beep is a nightmare.”

With my dietary changes and my inability to easily eat – or simply avoiding using my mouth – I can report that I’ve lost some weight. Since eating is uncomfortable (it took me almost an hour to eat a dinner of ground beef in small pieces last night), I’ve been adding extra fat to my coffee. In the keto world, we call it “bullet proof coffee,” and it means we add butter and coconut oil to our morning beverage.

Coconut oil has medium chain fatty acids (MCT’s) that are supposed to be good for weight loss. And it has lots of good nutritional value. Hard core carnivores won’t like it, but I’m still trying to decide how strict I’m going to be on this change in my eating habits. C.oil is one of the safer non-meat fats that I think will be good to include in my diet. It’s not processed like seed oils, which are highly inflammatory.

I’d been on a plateau for some days, but after adding the stuff to my coffee, I dropped a pound overnight. Reducing caloric intake doesn’t necessarily result in weight loss, as the body goes into survival mode and adjusts metabolism to the lower energy input. Going to bullet proof coffee has helped me get the fats I need into my daily diet. I use my stick blender to mix everything in a big tumbler before pouring into my coffee mug.

Losing weight will make it easier to manage the blood sugar monster. And I can fit into the cuter clothes, too. Some day.

I’ve been wary and distrustful of ProPublica since they first appeared in 2008. They have done nothing to disabuse me of my absolute disgust for them.

Far-left nonprofit organization ProPublica has released a story of a woman they claim is the “first preventable death” due to Georgia’s pro-life laws.

When they broke the news on X, the reaction was immediate.

The Left quickly began spreading the story that Amber Nicole Thurman died due to laws in Georgia that outlawed lifesaving D&C procedures on women who are miscarrying.

Oh, self-righteous Kamala tweeted about it. Here is what really happened. She was murdered by an abortion clinic.

Thurman discovered she was carrying twins in 2022, and decided to abort them. She drove to a North Carolina abortion clinic for a surgical abortion. After running into traffic, she was late, but the murderous psychos at the abortion clinic refused to save her spot. They canceled the surgical abortion and instead sent her home with a mifepristone and misoprostol abortion pill regimen.

As a result of the abortion pill, contents were left in her uterus and she got an infection. She checked into a Georgia hospital with “acute severe sepsis.” A D&C would be required to remove the remaining pieces of her dead twins and stop the infection, a procedure that is 100% legal in all pro-life states, including Georgia. There was no pro-life law that prevented her from receiving the treatment. The hospital cared for Thurman for 20 hours before finally taking her to surgery, but by then it was too late. There is no evidence whatsoever that her surgery was delayed due to pro-life laws.

I probably won’t watch it because I need to maintain an even keel with my psyche and that video may enrage me to where I am unpleasant to be around. I don’t like feeling that way.

I inderstand. I am pretty jaded and hardened but I was not prepared for some scenes.

      Yes. I do.

Over the years I haven’t watched any of the videos of the horrors perpetrated by the Muslim cowards upon their captives. I don’t need to see it.

      This is different.

Just took a tour through the house.
When I left on the 6th and upon my return on the 13th this place was spotless. Nary a piece of paper out of place. Clean beds, made. Sinks empty and shiny. Etc.

A week later it looks like a bomb went off in here. Half-empty suitcases. Papers, mail, and documents everywhere. Sink full.

I guess I’m not re-adjusting well to real life.

    Might be champagne withdrawal.

Boris Johnson says it’s time for Ukraine to join NATO.
    What an idiot.
I tell ya what. How about the US leaves NATO and you Euros run it as you see fit?

That moment near midnight when you remember that you have some egg rolls in the freezer.
