Houston is a beautiful city and very photogenic. I stole these from ABC13’s weather head. I wish I could say I took them but alas I did not. Oh wait I did “take” them.

Shannon, are we there yet?
Well we finally got a little rain and yes it was a “little” .78″ since noon yesterday. Mostly a slow drizzle but we’ll take it and maybe it’ll save the grass.

How about a nice 56 Chrysler 300, you know, the one with the 354 Hemi. 😀
What car?
Nice hemi’s
Look out for those things Super Dave!!
Sixty eight degrees right now going up to mid eighties today, sunny and getting down to less than 50% humidity. Nice.
I was watching Jesse Watters show on Thursday and he was showing all the talking heads commenting on the newest Russia Hoax and one of the commenters was the old has-been, John Bolton. He had the audacity to say that Putin thinks Trump is an easy mark. I had to laugh at the utter stupidity of that remark but the butter slid off of John Bolton’s noddles a long time ago. He may even believe his own BS.
I’m on the back porch drinking coffee in shorts and t shirt watching Sarah and Rosebud enjoy the ZOOMIES. I’m a little chilly and I love it.

This is a little strange.
Clint McRae has been sheriff of Walker County for 20 years and claims to be completely unaware of the nationally notorious Harris brothers’ Colony Ridge land development ? Really ?!!!
After two arrests for driving with a blood-alcohol content nearly four times the legal limit, prominent land developer William “Trey” Harris III received a 45-day jail sentence earlier this year in Walker County, just north of Conroe.
But Harris, one half of the team behind Greater Houston’s sprawling, controversial Colony Ridge development, would only serve half of that sentence — the beneficiary of uncommon treatment given by longtime Walker County Sheriff Clint McRae.
and,
The finding is based on an analysis of county jail records that show Harris is the only one of nearly three dozen people released early while serving time for a drunken-driving conviction from January 2023 to July.
here is the weird part of this story….
McRae added his decision came after two judges — both of whom he declined to name — contacted him to encourage an early reprieve. The sheriff said Harris’ criminal defense lawyer, family, and friends did not ask for leniency.
Waiting on connecting flight to final destination. But I can assure you…

Where are you going?
why’d you fly out of Austin?
I must’ve missed sumtin’.

Now this is a good idea;
Made zucchini and banana bread in a jar today. For those who haven’t seen this, just make your favorite cake or sweet bread, pour half way in jars. Bake as normal and immediately put clean washed lids on when removing from oven. If it rises above edge, trim before sealing. They seal and have a very long shelf life.
I dated a woman in Kyle, Texas about 30 years ago. There were a couple of thousand people living there. It was a ranching & farming community. The big business was the large fuel stop/convenience store out on I-35. Now there are over 60,000 people living there. Sheesh !
Despite its heat-related woes, Kyle’s population has jumped from 5,314 in 2000 to 62,500 in 2023 – making it the second-fastest growing city in the whole country.
A new pipeline is currently being built to bring water to the community, at the cost of $250 million. Delays, however, have hindered the project. Heat-related deaths, meanwhile, remain higher than ever, reaching a record 341 in Texas last year.
Squawk commented on this earlier. Glenn Reynolds, Tennessee law prof said before adding the link to Professor Robert Leider’s article on the Georgia school shooting.
Mostly I think this is just a search for scapegoats. And even when — as with the Trump assassin — parents call the police, how much is done? And if the parents are responsible for the Georgia kid, what of the FBI, which had him “on its radar” (as usual) long before?
Prof. Leader from the Antonin Scalia School of Law:
The law traditionally has not imposed a general duty upon parents to protect third parties against the criminal acts of their children. And for good reasons. Parents are not in a position to control their children’s behavior at all times. Although parents may choose to have children, they do not choose the children that they get. Unlike the employer-employee relationship, parents cannot terminate a child who exhibits problematic behavior.
But there are some exceptions where parents may violate duties of their own. A parent can become liable when he fails to exercise control over the child and the child’s wrongful act is reasonably foreseeable. Even here, however, courts (usually in the tort context—criminal cases are rare) have imposed a strict standard for what qualifies as reasonably foreseeable. To quote the Alaska Supreme Court:
A plaintiff must show more than a parent’s general notice of a child’s dangerous propensity. A plaintiff must also show that the parent had reason to know with some specificity of a present opportunity and need to restrain the child to prevent some imminently foreseeable harm.
I have been under the weather for over two weeks and left the house briefly for the first time today since August 23rd. I had to buy a birthday card for a daughter. I am still weak as can be though. A man doesn’t bounce back at 72 like he does at 42.
The passage of years can take a toll in small ways that can clump together at some point to become an issue later in life, much to one’s amazement.
I have found it helpful to start out recovery from something that seemed to be quite exceeding my ability by taking on some smaller aspects of it rather than trying to take on everything at once.
Perhaps consulting a physical therapist could be helpful for things you can do at home after several sessions to learn what does help you. That is, what works for you and what doesn’t. Physical therapists do make house calls.
Good Afternoon, Hamsters
What a lovely weather change cometh by tonight. Currently we have a reasonably comfortable 85 with 64% humidity getting us there, and the “cold” front has already passed us. The wind has picked up and is steady from the north. Looks like a good promise that Fall really is coming before October.
Greetings, from the Pacific Ocean.
Mexico?
I see some Igloo coolers full of cocaine floating in the surf.
I’ve only seen the Pacific once before – sixty years ago.
Bahía de Baderas. (Banderas Bay), Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
That’s about what I guessed by the picture. Have fun. 😉
Be sure to get in the water, it will surprise you at how cold it is.
I remember from the first time how cold it is.
O.C.P. D.O.A.
My one and only time I ever went to Kalifornia it was in LA, July or August. Went to the beach and the water was cold! I’m like, we’re all those beach movies even real?
Mine was to San Fran-freako…. with record high temps… for a conference at the Sir Francis Drake – just a short hop down the hill to the Bay… I thought we’d been sent to Hades as some kind of punishment because they had to rent portable A/C units for inside the ballroom/conference center before people started passing out from the heat!
Finally checking in – had mass and a Catholic Daughters meeting, then Hubby took me out for steak. We came home and both fell asleep. I didn’t get nearly enough zzz’s last night.
I’m glad Shannon is in a beautiful place. He didn’t say whether he was alone or no, but either way, I hope he’s having a pleasant trip.
And yes, the water on the west coast is cold, just like the water on the west coast of Europe is cold. Same reason – the global ocean currents travel the same way, due to the rotation of the Earth and the Coriolis Effect. Water travels from east to west along the equator, gathering warmth. Then it moves northward and southward when it reaches a land mass, taking that warmth with it. That’s why the Gulf and the lower east coast waters are warm, because the Gulf Stream has all of that equatorial heat. The current loses its warmth as it moves northward in the northern waters. The Gulf Stream eventually becomes the Labrador Current and travels down past England, France, and Italy, where the cycle repeats itself.
Same thing on the Pacific, but California is on the downward side, bringing the cold water from the Arctic regions down. I think it’s fascinating, all of the systems our home has for regulating temperature and stuff.
I had a really good geography teacher in college.
When I went to Sicily with Lovely Daughter, our friend and tour guide asked if we wanted to go to the beach. I told him I didn’t fly for hours over the Atlantic to miss dipping my toes in the Med. As I told people later, when you got over the heart attack from the cold water and the body went numb, it was quite pleasant.
There’s a headline at CFP that ISIS wants to take out pachapapa.
I’m trying to moderate my feelings on this issue.
Fay’s son and his wife gifted me with this trip.
They insisted I come with them.
It is a very nice place.
It is like something out of a Hollywood movie.
‘Never Has America Faced A Greater Threat Than Donald Trump,’ Says Guy Who Started Two Wars And Shot A Dude In The Face
Cajun Spoon gumbo shrimp, sausage and chicken. Good eatin right there. Okra and celery optional.
Celery may be optional but okra isn’t. 😀
Did uncklo go south to find a sponge cake, parrot, shaker, a cutie and to get a tattoo?
its amazing how Trump exposed the entire scumbaggery of the GroupofCons party which it turns out has pretty much been a scumbaggery party for decades.
the illusion of choice.
This may be the best damn post on X (Twitter) I’ve ever seen:

Stunned by the value the Trumps received, commentators on ESPN have stated that this is the most one-sided trade since the New York Yankees acquired Babe Ruth for cash used by the Boston Red Sox’s owner to finance the Broadway play “No No Nanette.”
Rumor is it that the California Harrises are working on an off-Broadway play called “No No Kamala.”
More news to follow as we receive updates….
Lol
That’s great!
Watching the Alabama game is tough, fourteen eleven dozen penalties. But they’re hanging in there against a mediocre team. 21-13 Bama 4th quarter. ~SIGH~
Touchdown! 28-16 5:50 left in the fourth.
Alabama woke up in the last 5 minutes, 42-16.
Remember the days of neat ads? Budweiser, 1980’s.
-Liz “Little Dick” Cheney.
-Adam “Crotch Rot” Kinzinger
Don’t get no better’n that.
It’s Sunday and it’s gonna’ be a Good-Un, much cooler and dryer today.
Mornin’ Gang
And a local weather prognosticator just spoke of possibility of tropical storm in Gulf by mid-week… oh joy…
I also saw/heard that too on last night’s 10pm news. Let us hope that does not come to pass around our area. Better still let us hope it falls apart before landing anywhere.
Good morning fellow couch dwellers. Little Rosebud is starting to whimper at my office door or the back door when she needs to relieve herself :>) She is starting her 11th week; hopefully in another month or so, she won’t go in the house anymore. I should note that within the last week or so, she rarely misses the pads, so she is learning quickly. The little chunk really likes to cuddle on the couch. I may wind up with a 60 lb velvet hippo lap dog.
I know there has been major blowback against Tucker Carson and Darryl Cooper in Carlson’s self-immolation of his reputation. However, the lies are so big, so outrageous there can never be enough criticism.
Cooper’s first argument was that Churchill “was primarily responsible for that war becoming what it did, something other than an invasion of Poland.” Yet in the moment that Adolf Hitler invaded Belgium, Holland, and Luxembourg at dawn on May 10, 1940, Winston Churchill was not even prime minister. Unless Mr. Cooper is arguing that from his position as First Lord of the Admiralty—the head of Britain’s navy—Churchill was somehow able to force Hitler to unleash Blitzkrieg in the West, his first argument falls to the ground.
and,
When Carlson commended Cooper’s “belief in accuracy and honesty,” it provided the only comic moment in the whole interview, unless one also counts Carlson’s estimation that Cooper—of whom I confess I had not hitherto heard—is “the most important historian in the United States.”

Andrew Roberts, Baron Roberts of Belgravia, is an English popular historian, journalist and member of the House of Lords. He is the Roger and Martha Mertz Visiting Research Fellow in the Hoover Institution in Stanford University and a Lehrman Institute Distinguished Lecturer in the New York Historical Society.
The goals for today are to clean the downspout by the back door, use the floor machine on all the floors downstairs, go to the grocery store, and bake bread.
It’s 58 degrees and heading down to 38% humidity today with a high of only 71. It’s almost sweater weather.
Today, son-in-law has planned a major 40th luncheon surprise party for our daughter at a very swanky joint near here. It should be fun. She was barely out of the hospital with Ellie Ruth when her actual 40th birthday arrived. It’s going to be my first escape into the public in over two weeks.
Researchers uncover the lies in Northern Ireland…
In the entire 4-year period of covid up to March 2024 there were a total of just 275 deaths due to covid alone and that figure includes deaths which mentioned covid with pneumonia.
In the 15-44 age group there were just 8 deaths. Moreover, the youngest person in this age group was 38, so no one younger than 38 died from covid in Northern Ireland in the entire 4 year period.
Flu suddenly disappeared during the main covid mortality period March 2020 – Oct 2022 and then just as suddenly reappeared after that.
In addition to continued excess death numbers, the data suggest a large increase in deaths from chronic diseases, which may be due to lockdown measures and the decision in March 2020 to shut down all medical diagnosis and treatments for all diseases including cancer. There is also evidence of significantly increased waiting times for treatment of diseases like cancer.
and these shocking statistics,
On 28 March 2024 the Department of Finance (DoF) responded to Kathy’s request for information about total number of covid ‘related’ and covid caused deaths:
I can confirm that the Department holds the information requested.
Of the 5,674 Covid-19 related deaths that had occurred up to 15 March 2024 (accounting for registrations up to and including 20 March 2024), 275 had Covid-19 as the only cause of death mentioned on the death certificate. The remaining 5,399 covid-19 related deaths had at least one other cause of death mentioned on the death certificate.
Heads should roll. ™
Today is the birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She’s pretty special to me, so I always make an effort to go to mass on her birthday, so I guess I get a two-fer today because I’m already going to mass because it’s a Sunday.
Good morning.
iPhone camera cannot do it justice.

I’m a little surprised that I’ve not heard of this. I generally have a pretty good vocabulary especially on things that interest me.
BUT, I learn’t sumpin new today. 😀
Porta Valata Valatar Viagra looks like an awesome vacation. We just booked a cabin in the Smokies in October.
My ancestors navigated the ocean using stars, and here I am missing my exit using GPS.
I just read the C&C from yesterday and the notion occurred to me that both the WLR and the UKE war are designed to get as many fighting aged men out of the picture so that conquest becomes easier. Izzit the muzzy hordes, New World Order/Rothchilde types, a coalition of some groups, . . . .only the shadow knows.
Pretty sure that if the above even approaches correct, the perps are all avid worshippers of lucifer and are psychopaths.
Man the weather is fine here. Bright and sunny, 83 degrees with 68% humidity. Makes sittin’ on the front porch nice. 😉
Attention! Susan Page is a Liar! But you already know that.
Carry on,……
Oh and Antony Blinken is a pathetic little eunuch.
Well, I got the down spout cleared, I think, went to the grocery store, put together osso buco, got the floors cleaned (wife and son did most of that), and have a batch of bread on the first rise. This may be all I accomplish today.
One could get one’s self in lots of trouble with one of these.
Well don’t I feel like a homunculus; I put the osso buco in the wrong danged oven, the one that wasn’t turned on. The good news is that the bottom oven was on (even though the dutch oven was in the top) and it is warming up the upper oven which is what I wanted for the bread to do the 2nd rise.
Our priest mentioned in the announcements today during mass, that he had met with a meteorologist over the weekend. The meteorologist had attended one of our church functions, that’s how he ended up talking to our priest. This is not the meteorologist that you see on the TV news, this is a serious one that deals with commerce and industry.
He told father that we need to prepare for a hurricane that we have one coming our way. So, just in case he’s right, y’all buckle up, hunker down, and get prepped. And never hurts to be ready.
Except Squawk. He doesn’t hunker.
Where I grew up, if you were standing on a beach, you had (at least) a 500 mile drive to get to a real mountain.
where I grew up you had (at least) a 360 mile drive to get to a real beach… and probably more to get to a real mountain
I asked her permission to take her photo.
Drop dead gorgeous.
I shall use a mior pa (sp?) henceforth when cooking a pot roast! The pressure cooker is faster but using the Dutch oven in the big oven and being able to check and adjust if necessary temp, liquids, and/or flavors is possible. Great results overall.
All the folks I knew in West Texas and the Panhandle always ran over to Ruidoso, Taos or northern New Mexico ski resorts. If they wanted to put up with the arrogant, snooty locals, they would go on up to Colorado.
Saw something over one Gab that cracked me up:
Caption under a picture of a grill with several steaks and bacon strips on it: “Have a wonderful second hand vegan day!”
Second hand vegan. heh heh heh
One more.
Wish I had SQK’s camera and expertise.
Okay – if you insist. One more of my accidental acquaintances from early this morning.
I regret to inform y’all that I stumbled across Texpat on the beach late today.
Selling pony rides.
He seemed to be happy.
But, I’m worried….it’s not like him to hook up with such an ugly dog.
🙂
Actually the dog was really cool, if a bit weird.
Perhaps a cross between a miniature greyhound, two different kinds of terriers, and Lord knows what other breeds.
She was a wonderful clown side show, totally devoted to her master. Quite entertaining. Helping her master sell pony rides. He had three other horses (not pictured).
Too much fun.
