On one of my carnivore YT channels, there was an interview with a dentist from down under, Dr. Lin. I found this discussion fascinating, as he illustrated the relationship between nutritional deficiencies and craniofacial (mal)formation, breathing difficulties, and general health. I had never paid any attention to Vitamin K2, but he says it’s important to take with the proper level of D3 – and the RDA for this vitamin is waaaaaaay below what Dr. Lin says we need.
From the little research I’ve done on D3, it’s not really a vitamin per se, but a precursor hormone. It is vastly important for our immune system and a host of other body functions. I never thought of it as part of jaw/dental development. I’ll be sharing this video with Dr. Lucena, my current dentist.
BTW – I’ve seen many testimonials on how curative the carnivore diet has been for folks. It may not be for everyone, but I’ve seen videos and viewer comments that identify diseases and health issues that have improved or have actually disappeared: heart disease, irregular heart beats, psoriasis/eczema, joint pain, better dental health (no more bleeding, gums healing and rebuilding, etc.), diabetic retinopathy, sleeping issues, depression and mental health problems, and many more. And, of course, weight loss and better blood panel results. Bella had a doctor review her blood tests from her vegan phase vs. her carnivore phase, and the results were astounding. Her cholesterol, triglycerides, etc., were all so much better on her high fat carnivore diet than when all she ate were plant foods (carbohydrates). And dang, but she is drop dead gorgeous and a healthy slender – and she eats sticks of butter and chunks of beef fat.
One of the more public and dramatic healings was the daughter of Jordan Peterson: she had rheumatoid arthritis so severely that she had two ankles and one knee replaced by the time she was 15 or 16 years old. She went total carnivore and her RA has disappeared. Had a salad once, had a flare, and noped herself right out of ever wanting any vegetables ever again.
Amazing. Why didn’t we learn this when we were kids? I was taught that we had to eat veggies to get all of those phytonutrients. then I saw the diagram that highlighted all of the vitamins and minerals inside of meat and fat. Game changing image in my head. I was taught that we needed carbohydrates to survive. Heck, carbs were the biggest part of my childhood diet, because carbs are cheap and readily available, so today I have weight issues. It’s a lot harder to lose the fat as an adult and I wish I knew then what I know now – I wouldn’t have these struggles today. Whenever I begin thinking like that again, I remind myself of something I heard a doctor say: “There are essential proteins and essential fatty acids, but no such thing as an essential carbohydrate.” Again, why were we taught we needed them? Oh, Big Food, Big Pharma…
Anyway, here’s the full panel discussion on vitams A, D, and K2 and their link to dental and physical health.
