    Jardiance sales must be down.

Texpat’s favorite commercials are back with a vengeance.

Undoutedly some jackass had previously hurt her by hitting her on her head or otherwise abusing her. Patience is required and perhaps some advice from a vet.

A suspect is in custody following a manhunt after a Texas deputy constable was shot and killed on his way to work, police said.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 identified Deputy Maher Husseini as the officer who was killed. Police said that the suspect was in custody following a short manhunt. The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office spotted the suspect’s vehicle and gave chase before it crashed into the water by Old Causeway in Galveston, FOX 26 Houston reported.
Calling the suspect an “assailant,” Houston Police Department Chief Noe Diaz said that Husseini was on his way to work in his personal car and had stopped at a red light when a man exited a vehicle, walked up and shot the deputy.
“We are working on an unfortunate, a tragic incident, where a local constable was shot by an assailant who we have yet to identify,” Diaz said, noting that Husseini was shot multiple times.
Authorities have not provided a name of the suspect, but said that he was a Middle Eastern male, 35 to 40 years old, 5-foot-9, 200 pounds, who was last seen wearing a dark shirt, dark pants, with dark thinning hair.

After the Dr. visit this morning, we had lunch at Olive Garden and are recovering from that. Leftovers are safely asleep in the fridge. The people are thinking about naps.

It is overcast and downright covered with rain clouds that are not producing anything except shade. Obviously, we have been calling on the wrong bunch of rain gods for help. Not that the plants and grasses are gasping for rain yet, but some would be nice to wash off dust that has taken advantage of the dry spell.

Have not yet ventured very far into the Chron to discover what insanity has been revealed on various topics. Best to not read such things on a full stomach.

Commie-la has called for oversight on X because there is no control over what get said. Commie-La wants the 1st amendment gone; she didn’t say it directly, but that is the result.

It urinates me off the arrogance of these people that think for any of us to speak requires oversight.

Next up is another military story. Or rather – the lack of military story – in the US. The military recruitment numbers are dismal at best, frightening at worst.

Vox described what it called “a political horseshoe effect,” meaning that both right-leaning and left-leaning citizens are equally eschewing military service, and “refusing to fight what they call unnecessary, unwinnable wars.” Imagine that.

The article then noted, almost in passing, the “especially sharp decline in enlistments by white men and women.” So weird.

You’ll be disappointed if you go looking in this article for any mention of diversity policies, the effect of vaccine mandates, or the military’s new obsession with promoting atypical sexual preferences in the ranks. Too late: [insert image of recruiting flyer emphasizing that the jab is no longer required – go figger]

With such low levels of enlistment, current military members are being sent on longer and more frequent deployments -> leads to miserable attitudes -> lower recruitment levels->longer and more frequent deployments->leads to miserable attitudes-> oh, you get the idea.

Vox grudgingly admitted that a well-needed draft would be difficult. Not just politically. Americans of prime draft age are fatter and sicker than ever. Fewer than three out of ten American young adults can pass basic health and physical fitness requirements for military service.

But you know what could stop the doom loop? Fewer combat assignments. You know what could reduce combat assignments? Fewer proxy wars. If only we had a presidential candidate whose platform included fewer proxy wars and healthier Americans.

Mr. C. goes into a discussion on the Ukrainian war – it seems Russia is finally making its death thrust into Ukraine. If you’re interested in the details, just go to the column.

But Mr. C. asks “Why now? Why, after 2 1/2 years is Russia now racing into enemy territory and is close to destroying its most important logistics hub?”

It all looks exactly like we suspected, that Russia has held back for two years, exhausting Ukraine’s ability to fight, and now that U.S. presidential elections are imminent, is doing what it always could have done: easily overrunning Ukraine’s positions with superior manpower, equipment, and air supremacy.

This story is most remarkable because of its incredible timing. A massive loss in the Proxy War is the last thing Democrats want people thinking about going into the November elections. We’ve spent enough money in Ukraine to rebuild Maui, build six border walls, and give free houses to every homeless person in America. And for what?

    Beginning the column:

Our favorite space billionaire may be launching the most adventurous part of his career. Traveling back to the land of the Taj Mahal for pro-Trump news, we begin with India Today’s morning headline, “‘I can’t wait..’ Elon Musk on reports of role in Trump cabinet to audit US government agencies.

[Insert image of Elon with a chain saw in hand]

I know that Vivek was jonesing to do the same thing. And RFK wants to gut the “health” beaurocracy.

Will the next Trump presidency be a huge brooming of those federal buildings? A rat killing extraordinaire? I can dream…

    Mr. C. makes this point:

Maybe, instead of asking how much more a handful of billionaires could pay in taxes, we should be asking how much less tax money the entire federal government could spend.

Elon is a CEO with a history of waste reducing and deadwood trimming, most notably at Twitter/X.

Like MLK, I have a dream. A dream where government is run by competent individuals, and not blood sucking economic vampires; a legislature that is populated by public servants and not public divas; and by leaders who have real world experience in leadership and not just in pandering to their base.

This is not a good post by the vidiot maker. He throws out an accusation and does not tell us what Kamal toe says. He only informs us that she politicized Gold Star families. Anytime a politician mentions anyone it is considered politicizing. YAWN. Contrary to what he says Kamal’s Arse is not dead. We thought Obama was dead especially the second time around yet he survived, then we got Biden. There are too many in this KONTRy that will give Kamal Face a pass cause she is allegedly a woman and want to be part of hisotry and all that stuff. More to be revealed later.

    Today’s C&C roundup:

Good morning, C&C, it’s Tuesday! Thank you for the massive outpouring of prayer and well wishes for my father yesterday. Our medical adventure continues, as does the news. In today’s roundup: surprising suggestion for new American auditor-in-chief makes headlines — in foreign press; deeply ironic Walz driving mishap fuels inevitable political comparisons; Russian war strategy changes dramatically, becoming more aggressive and faster paced, just in time for U.S. elections; and media admits the US military is running on recruitment fumes, for some reason.

So y’all know that I’ve not been keeping up like I should but yesterday Tedtam said; I’m hoping the crickets here mean that everyone is out enjoying themselves. Except for Texpat, who needs our prayers for healing.
So is he hurt, or having an operation? I missed it. FIWW: I did scroll back a few days and saw his posts but didn’t see anything about needing prayers or anything.
