In an interview with Tucker, John Rich said “he had no choice but to write this song”. He felt like the Lord “hit him with a hammer in the back of the head” with this melody and these lyrics, and this song was written in less than an hour. It was a physical thing, like the Lord “slammed this song through him”. He says he had a similar event with another song, “Earth to God,” but it wasn’t as intense as this one.

Houston, we have a problem. I was picking up eggs the other day and found this fellow helping himself to one of the eggs. But I took it away from him, grabbed him by the tail and whacked his head against a pecan tree. No more eggs for you. It is amazing how a snakes mouth is double hinged and can open larger than his body. FWIW; The picture isn’t very good since I took it with my ancient Flip Phone.
Mornin’ Gang -
I got a chance to read yesterday’s “Where I stand” and it is a worthwhile few minutes of your time. Short but spot on.

This subject is about the Democrat/News Media talking points that are sent out by Bat Signal to stress whatever lie they are campaigning that day. Last night I watched Biden’s speech and he pretty much said exactly what I thought he would. He talked about what a fantastic job he’d done in the last 3 1/2 years and that merited him a second term BUT in the interest of Democracy he was stepping down. He specifically mentioned saving Democracy several times so you have to think that Kamala could save Democracy but he couldn’t.
Now for the Talking Points; On both local channels 4 (CBS) and 18 (ABC) they had reports out of their networks that said Biden stepped down to unite the country!?!? WTH?! I don’t remember him saying that even once, but maybe he did and I missed it but he did speak of saving Democracy several times. Why did they come up with this lie about his speech? I don’t understand. If I had the time I’d get a transcript of the speech and see exactly what he said.
Oh and remember Biden campaigned on uniting the county but once he became President he called me and 70 million other Americans terrorists and a danger to the country. ~SPITS~ -
Good morning gang. There’s a steady rain coming down here at Buffalo Speedway and Westheimer. Trump is right that he should get equal time in prime time to make a political speech; because Biden’s speech was purely political with the intent to get the Ho elected.
-
Texpat has mentioned the dire straights that commercial real estate is in particularly in the north east. This phenomenon has hit Houston, see this video as evidence.
That being said, the property on the west side of Buffalo Speedway, south of West Alabama has been vacant for at least 10 years and now there is quite a bit of activity. The basement has been dug and there are pilings being constructed for a very large building.
Definitely a case of mixed signals or someone has deep pockets for this project. I’m going with the commercial real estate blood bath. -
We do not live in a dictatorship. Delegates are not oligarchs. Any attempt to evade or override the will of voters in our primary system—no matter how historic the candidate—must be condemned. We demand an informal, virtual snap primary now that the incumbent president is no longer in the running.
For the past few years, the Democratic Party has proclaimed that “democracy is on the ballot” in an effort to persuade Black voters to participate in the upcoming general election. They have presented this as the most serious election for democracy in our lifetimes. However, democracy isn’t just an ideal to be protected against Republicans; it must also be safeguarded from erosions within the Democratic Party. Calls for “unity” cannot come at the expense of democracy. The Democratic party, which has been the loudest in defending democracy, is now poised to commit some of the most undemocratic maneuvering to avoid listening to the will of the voters.

Erick Erickson has posted this excellent MRC News Busters video revealing the utter hypocrisy of of the MSM trying to vaporize Border Czar Kamala Harris.

Yes, of course.

Re: Black Lives Matter
BLM has to have an ulterior motive behind this stance, what is it?
-
I’m wondering if Carville hacked the BLM site. Seriously though, it’s a persuasive, coherent statement surprisingly issued by a group not known for its intellect. I think they put the Dems on notice they’re not for sale and crowning Kamala as nominee doesn’t fool them. It also means they need the Left to send more money their way.

A.I.? SO yesterday I built a rack out of fence posts and a pressure treated 2X4 to put the boat on when it’s down at the pond. I took pictures of the rack before and after I put the boat on it and put those pictures in a Power Point file so both pictures would be on the same page. While adding the picture with the boat, a subtitle popped up that said; “A boat on a stand in the woods” SO! AI is smart enough to recognize a Jon Boat upside down and a rudimentary rack? Amazing,…..
-
My @ 8:30 AM, the old Jon Boat stays at the Tractor Shed most of the time but I sometimes leave it at the pond for a few days in the Summer and I don’t like to just put it on the ground.

I find the claim to be staggering: 30% of DNA tests indicate that the supposed father is not the real father. Forcing a man to pay child support for a child that is not his, which also proves infidelity on her part, is just wrong yet it still happens.

We have some very nice tenants. One of them just texted me, to inquire after my well being after the power/headache issues from the storm.
We’ve had bad ones, but we’ve had good ones, too.

Good morning, C&C, it’s Thursday! Your morning roundup of essential news and commentary includes: a tale of two speeches, beginning with Joe Biden’s short Long Goodbye; then Netanyahu’s triumphant return to Congress and the mostly peaceful protests it provoked; more good legal news for President Trump in his ABC defamation suit; great news for scrappy conservative actress and former MMA figher in her lawsuit versus Disney; and best of all, even for irreligious readers, the Bible lands on Oklahoma schools with a thrilling thud.
-
Re the very forgettable departure speech:
The headlines gave it away. There were tons of them, but none quoted any newsworthy line. In one of his longest speeches in recent memory, President Cabbage ignored the giant groundhog in the room, neglecting any mention of how he’d gotten to this point, and avoiding any reconciliation of his many vows to stay in the race on Friday (“I’m not going anywhere!”) with pulling the plug two days later on his barely-blipping, political cardiac monitor.
It was the same old headache-inducing pattern we are, unfortunately, all used to at this point: deny, deny, deny, deny, deny, deny, suddenly admit. And then shift the blame!
Again – did anyone count the number of lies in the speech?
-
Then Mr. C. compares the departure speech with one from a real world leader – Netanyahu:
Maybe the biggest difference between the two speeches was the optics. Joe delivered his brief, creaky address solo, abandoned and alone. The leader of the free world whispered to the country he allegedly leads for the first time in over a week for only thirteen minutes, through a camera. Nobody clapped.
But inside Congress, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, surrounded by hundreds of admiring Congressmen and other friends of Israel, spoke to a live audience for an hour, enunciating his words, not gulping like a beached goldfish, non-groundhog-like, and for his efforts was repeatedly blessed with rapturous applause — fifty times in 60 minutes.

And Trump wins again in the legal arena: Trump’s lawsuit against George StepOnAllOfUs for defamation will move forward.
Trump’s lawsuit alleged ABC’s anchorman defamed him. Stephanopoulos repeatedly stated on-air that President Trump was found “liable for rape” in the stale, thirty-year-old lawsuit brought by advice columnist, card-carrying cat lady, and one-letter first named E. Jean Carroll.
But the jury had found Trump liable for sexual abuse, not rape. They actually found him not guilty of rape.
For some reason for which ABC’s lawyers must someday answer, Stephanopoulos repeatedly and stubbornly refused to correct the record when given the chance. So Trump sued him. If the network’s lawyers ever wake up from their legal coma, they will advise ABC to settle. Now that the judge has denied dismissal, Trump’s team is entitled to discovery and the case will proceed to trial.
I’m tired of reporters and congress critters lying to us and hiding under the skirts of their “privilege”. I hope George gets thoroughly financially laundered.

Another win in the legal arena (dang, that’s a busy place these days!):
In a story with potentially Galactic consequences, scrappy ex-MMA fighter and actress Gina Carano enjoyed a huge legal win yesterday. The actress starred as a popular regular in Disney’s top new Star Wars-themed show The Mandalorian. But Disney fired her in 2021 over a conservative
tweet.
Yesterday, California U.S District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett wrote a 23-page order denying Disney’s motion to dismiss Carano’s lawsuit. Presumably, Judge Garnett is not a Baby Yoda fan, and probably thinks he looks like a stupid puppet. But I digress. Disney tried to argue that its corporate mission was really to promote liberal values, and that Carano’s continued employment damaged the Disney brand.
I am not making that up.
With its motion to dismiss having been denied, Disney now, just like ABC, faces discovery. And in Disney’s case, discovery will be much more potentially risky and damaging than the kind of discovery ABC faces. Just imagine all the virtue-signaling emails about Carano that must have been shooting around the woke media company at the time.
They picked the wrong ex-MMA bounty hunter to pick on. If Disney were smart, it would settle. But Disney is woke, not smart, so who knows. But Judge Garnett just handed Carano a fully-charged blaster.
You go, girl!

Oklahoma has joined the “teach Bible as history” movement:
If you’d like to see the details for yourself, the link to Walters’ tweet (above) included several sample pages from the new guidance. It focuses teachers and students on the Bible’s historical context, including themes like literary analysis, comparative ethical traditions (with other influential religious texts), historical documents and speeches, referencing Biblical sources, and critical thinking about how the Bible has influenced things like the development of Western Civilization and the civil rights movement.
Before our valued and respected secular C&C readers take umbrage, Oklahoma’s carefully written new standards also included a fulsome section on legal concerns, including forbidding the Bible from being used for religious indoctrination:
Mr. C. discusses the legal history and ramifications of such moves. I encourage you to read them for yourself.

Hubby asked how I slept last night. Around 1:30 a.m., I had to jerk myself out of a nightmare that was so frightening that I got up and found my bottle of holy water and blessed myself, went back to bed and fell asleep with my blessed rosary in my hand, praying all the while for protection from the Holy Family (Jesus, Mary, & Joseph) and my guardian angel.
It was bad. Really bad. Never want to go through that again. I did fall asleep, which I was wasn’t sure I’d be able to do.

The nightmare of High-Tech.
Scams involving fake emails in real estate deals have exploded over the last decade, rising from less than $9 million in losses in 2015 to $446.1 million by 2022, according to FBI data.
I used to do a lot of wire transfers, particularly in the pre-internet days. I always went to the trouble of going to the bank, filling out the forms and dealing face-to-face with a banker. Yeah, it was a little inconvenient and took some time, but when you are sending 5,6 or 7 figure sums you want to make sure, absolutely sure, it’s going to the exact party you intend to receive it.Now, it’s so easy…just hit a few buttons on the keyboard and…
After a yearlong search, Rana Robillard was elated to learn she’d beaten three other bidders for a house in the leafy California suburb of Orinda, just outside of San Francisco.
So when Robillard, who works at a software startup, received an email in late January from her mortgage broker with directions to wire a $398,359.58 down payment to a JPMorgan Chase account, she wasted no time sending the money.
After all, the email appeared to be a response to one Robillard had sent her broker asking about final steps before the closing, which was rapidly approaching.

Does Oklahoma not realize it would take about one day for “Teach the Koran” classes to be mandated?
-
Yeah, I thought about that, too.
-
Fine. I’ll volunteer to teach the Koran in this context:
…and critical thinking about how the Bible has influenced things like the development of Western Civilization and the civil rights movement.
The truth about Islam is exclusively ugly and bloody regarding the development of Judeo-Christian Western Civilization and the human rights movement.

Herb Kelleher is rolling in his grave. I was 19 years old when Southwest Airlines started up. I grew up with the airline from its early, scrappy days confined to the Texas border.
Older friends of mine called it cattle car flying, but I liked the cheap fares and planes leaving every 30 to 60 minutes any destination in the state. Besides, they were flying on company accounts and I was paying out of my pocket.
Southwest Airlines is ending open seating and will offer extra legroom seats on its airplanes as mounting pressure on the carrier to increase revenue prompts the biggest changes to its business model in its 53 years of flying.
The airline plans to start selling the first flights that will offer extra legroom next year, it said Thursday. It also plans to begin overnight flights, starting in February.
Southwest executives have said for years that they were studying such changes and hinted in April that the airline was seriously considering assigning seats and offering extra legroom options.

The Cackler will be toast in any international relations. Her nervous laugh will make her useless in any negotiations or if she needs to get along with leaders she doesn’t like. What an obvious tell. Love him or hate him, Trump is a good negotiator.

My gaster is completely flabbered that anyone would think she could possibly be good at anything in government. That woman is dumber than a bag of dog crap!

What is most shocking is Harris was totally unaware of GovTrack and its very public ranking of her as most leftwing member of the US Senate. You can tell by the look on her face she almost certainly never that before. Kamala thought she could brush it off blaming it on Mike Pence. How do serve as senator for California and be completely unaware of what the media is saying about you ? GovTrack is quoted constantly by the MSM.

I loved my Motorola Startac flip phone. I was sad when I finally had to give it up.
The foldable phone would arrive no sooner than 2026, as it takes about two years to go through the process of manufacturing a new iPhone model. It’s also still possible that Apple will abandon its plans in the future.
When the foldable iPhone does arrive, it will reportedly have a clamshell design similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. Codenamed “V68,” the device would be much thinner when opened up than current iPhones, as Apple’s goal is to make sure the foldable device is not too thick when closed.
Apple has invested design effort into solving the problem of the screen crease that appears on foldable phones that tends to worsen each time the device is folded. There are still barriers for the new device, though; the information’s sources note that “Apple’s designers also have struggled to come up with enough compelling features that would make consumers want one, especially given its high retail cost compared to nonfoldable phones.”
There is more information on other new lines of iPhones. I’m holding off until the fall or end of the year to replace my old phone. The heat problems with my phone are irritating and cause the phone to go dark. The new line has a graphite plate to cure that.
-
Battery for my iPhone 11 is what annoys me. Max capacity is down to 87%. I have to refuel it at least every other day. GRRRRRRRRR. Lord he;p me if I have an above average day of activity.

I love Carl Higbie.
Just now, discussing Biden’s speech, where B says that he’ll continue to grow the economy: “The only thing growing right now are calls for your resignation!”
He’s become my favorite talking head.

I don’t get it. How can liberals have a gender reveal when their baby has not been born yet to decide what gender it is?

How can burning the American Flag be an act of free speech while burning another countries flag is a hate crime?
How come the burning of a Rebel Battle Flag is not a hate crime?

It was 73 this morning at 6 and has made it to 74 today. Rain overnight and today thus far is 1.02″. We don’t need more rain, thank you, as the ground is already full of moisture far enough down.
Spouse and I went out for lunch today, managing to make it about noon, when the rain here was light. Coming home the car’s thermometer insisted the outdoor temp was 70, and it felt like it. Yea
Now what about all those ignorant folks who insist and whine this is the hottest summer, and it’s all the fault of that evil climate change. Duh, those who must have been asleep in grade-school science classes describing weather and our Sun that rules his planets and controls their weather among other things.

I spent $120 dollars on groceries last Saturday.
That figure includes no non-food items or alcohol.-
It’s a real thing. We spent $70 couple days ago just grabbing a few things – no meat, beer. Add beer to it and it almost makes a feller wanna quit drinking. Almost.
-
I just went to the Maywood Market. I bought a pound of cheddar, a pound of Swiss, a pound of mozzarella, a dozen eggs, loaf of multi-grain bread, 4 tomatoes and a small package of sliced watermelon. It cost me $65. Three years ago the same groceries would have cost me about $35. I guarantee you at least $15 of that increase is in the cost of fuel.

I can’t even speak….but watch out Squawk, one of these days those pine trees in your yard are going file a class action lawsuit against you.
The eminent Christian theologian, Wesley Smith, wrote recently:
Smith argued the effort to give rights to non-living things “isn’t science. It is neo-pagan mysticism.” He cites a passage from Rodriguez-Garavito’s book that states there are spirits in the forest.
The forest is alive, there are spirits in the forest, they are the real rulers of the forest’
A relatively new legal field gaining traction aims to establish rights for natural formations and other inanimate objects.
One of the law schools leading the charge for this novel legal theory is New York University School of Law, which in 2022 launched the More Than Human Life Project, or MOTH, an initiative of the law school’s Earth Rights Research and Action Clinic.
The project “is an interdisciplinary initiative advancing rights and well-being for humans, non-humans, and the web of life that sustains us all,” according to its website.
In addition to NYU Law, for example, Harvard University will offer a course this fall titled “Rights of Nature” that “will examine this fast-growing field, assessing the origins, practice, and potential of granting legal personhood to natural objects.”
-
Texpat, those pine trees in our yard can’t file anything against us… We evicted them from our acre of woods before we built… We have magnolia, holly, and a bunch of different kinds of oak… but if there’s a pine here it’s less than a foot tall and will get cut off next time we mow…
-
Oh, the magnolias, hollies and oaks will hire their own lawyers.

Ya think they will believe me?

It is Dr. Jill in the ring for a double smackdown match against Barack and Kamala.
As my colleague Nick Arama reported, it’s been a whisper campaign of epic proportions regarding Barack Obama’s feelings about Vice President Kamala Harris and her chances of winning the 2024 election. Expect these whispers and leaks to continue up to the convention, and possibly beyond. There’s a revenge tour going on, most likely engineered by First Lady Jill Biden.
According to one article, the Bidens never really forgave Obama for pushing Joe aside in 2016 in favor of Hillary Clinton, and there is even more bitterness over Biden being forced into one-term presidency status.
the drama is just beginning, believe me,
Her words drip with venom. Because for those who did waver and were a part of throwing her husband under the bus, there will be hell to pay—probably at the Democrat National Convention in August. There is even more scuttlebutt that Obama never wanted VP Kamala Harris to be at the top of the ticket, and Biden’s instant endorsement of her was another way to stick it to Obama.
