Doug Schoen is an honest, smart guy even if he is a life-long Democrat.
Donald Trump may well have sealed the outcome of the 2024 election with a performance on Thursday night in Milwaukee that has largely been unmatched in recent American political history.
The former president eschewed the polarization and division that has marked much of his rhetoric in the past. In his speech officially accepting the Republican Party’s nomination there were only a couple of references to the 2020 election. Trump was able to hit on key messages when speaking about topics like inflation, and especially immigration, in ways that were compelling and arguably responsive to the fundamental concerns of Americans.
I say this not to engage in hyperbole, as I have never been – and am not now – a Trump supporter. But as a political analyst, you have to acknowledge reality. And the reality of this speech was simple: Trump spoke of the American Dream, he spoke of bringing people together, he spoke of helping African-Americans, Hispanics and those who have been left behind.

Former Obama adviser Van Jones argued Thursday that the energy at this week’s Republican National Convention was comparable to what he saw when former President Obama was first nominated in 2008.
Jones, now a CNN senior political commentator, talked about the palpable “spirit” and enthusiasm he could feel among the people at the RNC.
After CNN contributor Scott Jennings spoke with excitement about wrestler Hulk Hogan, UFC head Dana White and former President Trump’s upcoming speeches at the RNC, Jones said, “This spirit that this guy [Jennings] has, you guys think it’s because he’s drunk, he’s not, this whole thing is like this.”

I have discussed and taught the same thing the old boy is espousing and I agree totally with what he says. I adopted the “literal” interpretation of Revelation years ago. It rocked my belief system and opened my eyes to many truths I had missed. The only thing I would add is the tribulation is for the salvation of the Jewish nation.

The man killed by an Iranian-made Houthi drone in Tel Aviv fled two years to Israel from Belarus to escape the Russia/Ukraine war.
Israel shoots down similar drones regularly, but they missed this one due to “human error.” I suspect the real target was the American consulate offices nearby.

An Israeli man was killed and four others were wounded overnight Thursday when what the Israel Defense Forces described as an “aerial target” exploded in a residential neighborhood in central Tel Aviv.
During the search of a building, Magen David Adom emergency medics found the lifeless body of a man in his 50s with “penetrating injuries” and determined he was killed by the blast.

As usual I’ve not been keeping up here but I’m fairly up to date with all the mayhem in the world, from the Biden Dumpster Fire to the RNC Convention. BTW; I watched almost all of the RNC, sometimes catching parts of it the next day.I made it almost to 11 PM last night with Trump’s speech but just couldn’t finish it so I watched it this morning. I’ll say that Trump did pretty good and would have been great without the rambling parts in the middle. That is, the first 20 and last 20 minutes were great. It was when he went off script and shifted to Rally mode that he lost me and I think that added to much “fill” and if we’d just had the 40 minutes of beginning and end it would have been better for the Independents. It was so long I bet some folks lost interest.Just my Dos Pesos.

I’ve long believed that (most) people will live up or down to expectations. I treated every one of my students as if they were intelligent and capable of keeping up with the fire hose stream of information that I fed them (the book was so watered down, they would’ve been bored to death if I’d only taught from the text – the book assumed they were dumb and could only handle a dropperful of info at a time. /smh )
99% of my students lived up to my expectations.
Trump is telling us to change our thinking: we can and should expect more. Find leaders who can live up to our expectations, and demand their best.
Possibly the best message of the night. Don’t settle. You/We are better than that.

First, I heard on Salcedo’s show this morning that someone took a picture of the CNN booth during Trump’s speech, and Tapper, Bash, et al, had their backs turned to him. I expected no less. And I mean less. As I said before, people live up/down to expectations, and my bar for CNN touches the floor.

Depressed corporate media’s response to Trump’s speech was muted. I won’t bore you with it, except to say they desperately fact-checked the President, unpersuasively concluding nearly everything Trump said was either false or “without evidence.” For just one example, the New York Times fact-checked Trump’s assertion that the globe is on the precipice of World War III, somehow finding that obvious truth both false and without evidence.
The Times needs to get its medication levels checked, because it is distinctly delusional.
As I scrolled through the results of my search for Trump’s speech transcript, I kept seeing the “fact checking” count of “errors” in the speech.
I have a strong expectation that those “errors” are actually differences of opinion. But I’m not reading the articles since I have something better to do.

- CrowdStrike is now vulnerable to an incomprehensible number of potential lawsuits.

Regarding the meat puppet’s “sudden cognitive decline” and the subsequent attempts to push him down the political stairs (but he’s taking the short stairs, so no serious damage, right?):
But the Democrats face an intractable problem. Joe Biden continues to publicly and loudly insist he is not dropping out and he’s going to keep driving as much as he wants. After all, Joe won fifty state primaries fair and square. What about democracy?
Like relatives who hate conflict and wonder what’s the harm of letting them keep driving, since they only go to bingo and the store, many rank-and-file democrats who just voted for Biden, and have been repeatedly reassured by experts that he remains “sharp as a tack,” are now baffled by the sudden, treacherous plot to boil President Cabbage. They smell a corporate media rat.
One of Mr. C’s favorite terms for Biden is “President Lettuce,” so this is amusing:

I never liked the idea of everything in the cloud and have been quite vocal about it. The cloud has never been secure and as has just been demonstrated it is not robust. Putting everything in the cloud is insanely risky, just like ‘Just In Time Inventory.’

QB keeps trying to force me to use their cloud service. I keep refusing. I pay a premium and at some point may have to go there, but I’m delaying it for as long as I can. Call me a control freak, but I like the idea of my data in my hands, on my computer, and not in control of some cloud service that is a bigger hacking target than my puny, one in many millions, computer.

As I keep saying:
- My CPA’s office uses and is proficient Quickbooks and I am keeping it so we can exchange files; i.e., she can fix my mistakes. I have managed to “break” Quickbooks on occasion, and professional fixes were required. I know, I know – it’s a gift. :/
- Not using it would cost us more money as the CPA office has to do extra work to manage our account.
- QB is the most user friendly, widely used accounting program available for small businesses like us. As we gradually sell our properties, there will come a point where I can stop using that software. Not sure what I’ll use at that point, but I do look forward to it.

Yesterday, Arizona’s GOP announced a terrific election integrity victory in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. The appellate court reversed a lower court’s stay of an Arizona law (HB 2492) requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote. President Trump even weighed in: [insert Trumpian tweet]
Arizona still has a giant problem with mailed-in ballots, which are multiplying like Florida cockroaches, but this decision was terrific progress.
Like he said: progress. Still a long way to go.
I heard on the radio that the R’s or some conservative vote watching group (I missed that part) is signing up many thousands of poll watchers and finding 500 lawyers per state to file voting challenges.
The preparation is strong for this election. Fool me once, etc.

Some very fascinating clandestine history here between Israel and Morocco.
Home to the largest number of Jews in the Arab world, Morocco has always been intrinsically linked to Israel. Today, over a million Israelis have direct roots in Morocco and celebrate their ties to the North African country nearly 2,000 miles away. Moroccan-Israeli cooperation stems unofficially to 1961, the year King Hassan II took power in Rabat. At this time, Israeli officials were able to cultivate a relationship with the king after uncovering a plot designed by an opposition leader to overthrow him. The relationship Hassan forged with the Jewish state would initiate the clandestine cooperation the two countries would continue to utilize for decades.
Leading up to the 1967 Six-Day War, information-sharing and surveillance technology transfers between Morocco and Israel placed the Jewish state in a superior position for the looming combat. Rabat’s officials allowed the Mossad to bug the meetings between Arab military commanders in Casablanca in 1965, tipping off Israel with valuable intelligence. About a decade later in 1976, Morocco would play a crucial role in promoting dialogue between Egypt and Israel in the lead up to the Camp David Accords.
Although Moroccan-Israeli ties were on an upward trajectory near the end of the twentieth century, cooperation between the two countries was halted by 2000. Hassan, who had been a friend to Israel, died in 1999. The king’s death the failure of the Camp David peace conference, and the emergence of the second intifada in Israel all contributed to the loosening of ties between the two countries.

I used to watch a YT channel, “Jar of Fireflies,” about an orthodox Sephardic Jewish mother and her life raising her family. I’ve learned a lot about Jewish customs and traditions from her. Her husband is Moroccan.

More good legal news emerged yesterday from the Eighth Circuit. Politico ran the story headlined, “Appeals court blocks Biden’s student loan repayment plan, in latest legal blow to administration.”
Yesterday, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals completely stayed Biden’s moronically named “SAVE Act,” which buys votes by requiring plumbers and contractors to pay off degrees earned by unemployed baristas, like Bachelors of Arts in “Black Lesbian Dance Theory” and “Critical Studies in Indigenous Gender Mustard.”
Senator Bill Cassidy (R-La.) applauded the court’s decision, sensibly explaining that Biden “isn’t ‘forgiving’ debt. He is taking the debt from those who willingly took it out to go to college and transferring it onto taxpayers who decided not to go to college or already paid off their loans.”
I was very happy to see this. I hope this ruling sticks.
If you are old enough to decide on body bending surgeries, you are competent enough to decide on a degree that’ll help you get a job that will allow you to pay those contracted debts that you put your John Hancock on.
As I keep saying, grow the hell up. The world owes you nothing, nothing is free, and you are accountable for your decisions, successes, and failures.

I have never really trusted the NYT, but even I am shocked at the depth of trashy, unprofessional behavior over there since 2016.
In “New York Times Columnist Promotes Political Murder,” published just three days before the attempted assassination of President Trump, I pointed out that a regular Times columnist, John McWhorter, had called for the murder of President Trump. And when questioned about it by Glenn Loury, McWhorter’s remorse was limited — He emphasized that his regret was only that he said it in “a public space.” And he promised, “I’m gonna say it again.”
Since the July 13 attempt on President Trump’s life, the murder of Corey Comperatore, and the critical wounding of David Dutch and James Copenhaver, I have questioned whether we would see any apology from McWhorter or even any acknowledgment by the Times of its columnist’s calls for political murder.
You may not be surprised to learn that the answers are “No” and “No.”

After the attempted assassination of President Trump and the successful murder of Corey Comperatore, the Times continued to worry about inflammatory language. But the rhetoric that the Times is concerned about is Trump’s language. Five days after the shootings, it published a column that condemned Trump’s exhortation to “Fight! Fight! It is all a partisan scam. The Times is not concerned about “violent speech,” “menace,” or bellicose, dehumanizing and apocalyptic language” when it comes from its own house.

Is it really altering the Earth’s rotation? Reports indicate that the dam holds water at a level 175 meters above sea level, with a weight exceeding 39 trillion kilograms. This massive weight affects the Earth’s rotation due to the moment of inertia.
In simple terms, the farther a mass is from its axis, the higher its moment of inertia, which in turn slows the rotational speed.

China witnessed water levels surpassing flood control alert thresholds in 81 major rivers at 8 am Wednesday, as relentless downpours continue to affect a vast stretch of areas across the country, triggering national emergency responses in many regions.
The water courses are located in nine provincial-level regions, according to a news release issued by the Ministry of Water Resources on Wednesday.
The situation is especially serious in sections of the Jialing River in Gansu province, the Honghe River in Henan province and the Xihe River in Anhui province, where embankments are facing the most severe floodwater levels on record.

Arizona residents who try to register to vote with the widely used state form will have their registration rejected unless they provide proof of U.S. citizenship, under a temporary ruling Thursday from a federal appeals court…. Arizona law requires voters to provide proof of citizenship to register, whereas federal law requires only an attestation that a voter is a citizen, but not documentation proving it.
Under a previous ruling, folks without proof of citizenship could vote federally, so Arizona was keeping two voter rolls – federal and not. Geez, I can’t see any problems there! /sarc off/
With 9th Circuit decision, federal election voters have to fill out a federal election form. Well, they’re still being allowed to vote, but they have another hurdle. At least they’re (supposedly) being restricted from voting in non-federal elections.
The stay will be in place until an appeals panel hears the case, currently scheduled for September. While it’s in force, a county recorder could be charged with a felony for knowingly adding a registrant using the state form to the voter rolls without proof of citizenship.
The court’s decision upends voter registration practices set by a 2018 consent decree requiring officials to accept the state forms even without proof of citizenship.

I see from some headlines that Kamala is meeting with Dem donors, and Biden’s wissed off at her.
Could Biden drop her from the ticket and get another VP? If he did that, then the election would really be Trump vs. VP, and the complexion of the whole election would change.
