If the weather is bad and the stores are closing, my backup is Ortega – a box of 18 yellow corn shells, a package of their taco seasoning, a pound of ground beef and extra Ancho Chile powder. Some shredded cheese and anything else appropriate on hand. The other brands like Old El Paso just aren’t up to par.
Sure as I said something about generators for Aquatex, YES GJT God blesses cause we now got water. No electricity but we do got water. Thank you LORD GOD.
Talk about living a sheltered, blessed life, we got power back last night early, all other utilities humming along. It’s over, right? Wife had a hankering for TexMex so I ran into Magnolia to grab some. Magnolia is flat shut down, not even traffic lights working. I did not know! Thank you for the blessings Lord.
BTW wasn’t there a law created that water companies are required to provide generators to the well so that we have water? Seems I heard at least the debate after Ike.
I guess three consecutive strong Spring storms have played havoc with my TV antenna, no doubt misaligning it a bit. Of the local Houston stations, I lost ABC13 and PBS 8 a few weeks ago. No big loss. Now I have lost CBS KHOU11. Which is a pretty major loss for me – just about the only network I ever… Read more »
Ya gotta love it. I live with a “community” water well. No power to the “community” = no water to the “community”. But Aquatex, by gosh they are on the ball and posted a boil water notice at the entry point to the “community”.
Marilyn’s neighbor called back.
His patio door faces her house and they saw her moments ago come out to her back patio and mess around for a little while.
He confirmed that they have no power in that neighborhood yet.
We were supposed to have our second cataract surgeries yesterday, but that got knocked out. No word yet on a reschedule. Probably next month. I’m ready to get this over with.
Dr Phil Good, you better call your office. Speaker Kevin McCarthy held meetings ostensibly with Biden, but Jill Biden was there too to “communicate” for Joe ? It is outrageous this would happen, but worse is the fact McCarthy knew about Joe’s condition way back when and never said a word. But at the same news conference — about 12… Read more »

My parent’s home in Spring Branch is without power. All the probate stuff is wrapping up, we hired a lady to do an estate sale which is done. We were scheduled to meet with a house cleaner today to get ready to put the home on the market but that has been rescheduled for tomorrow.
Centerpoint was reported to have had 2,000,000 customers without power early on. They say now they are down to 8,015 customers without power. They are restoring 300 to 400 a day because the last group have been directly affected by damaged high transmission lines.

Her neighbor says he will have someone check on her today. And he will let me know.
He is pretty elderly himself and a bit hard to talk to.
Wife bought a little one burner propane stove in preparation for the storm. Even though we have power back she is cooking breakfast out on the porch, just cause breakfast is good cooked outdoors.

A fascinating discussion on the new age of materials and composites. When we talk of composites, we’re speaking about such things as the carbon-fiber ones in wind turbines, race cars and the Boeing 787. People can live without power for a while but in my experience most get really nasty without water. Quickly.
I flushed my toilet three times and washed my hands twice.
Man, I’ll be glad when the Secret deodorant advertising budget runs out.

I went down a rabbit trail from one of Texpat’s links and found this Spanish (located in Spain) website. Some of the links at the bottom of the page speak of using powdered hydrogen and others speak of using ammonia for internal combustion engines. It is nice to get a different perspective of things.
Wife bought a little one burner propane stove in preparation for the storm. Even though we have power back she is cooking breakfast out on the porch, just cause breakfast is good cooked outdoors.
