Today is first of four cataract surgeries between me and the wife, me first. One eye at a time plus follow ups, will be twelve trips to The Woodlands by the first part of next month. Then eye exam for new glasses, which started all this in the first place.

Good luck. I’ve mentioned that my wife had both eyes done and the whole thing went flawlessly. She noticed improvement on the drive home. Also I don’t think you’ll be needing glasses, she no longer needs glasses for reading or driving.

Before my wife had surgery she refused to drive at night but the surgery fixed that. FWIW; Her night driving only got bad after we retired in 2019 before that she might drive all night to/from Texas and Alabama/Florida.

Authorities believe fugitive wanted for multiple killings still in Arkansas.
The suspect is identified as 50-year-old Stacy Lee Drake out of Birmingham, Alabama.ARKANSAS, USA — 50-year-old Stacy Lee Drake is suspected of multiple killings across Alabama and Oklahoma, and is believed to be on the run and armed and dangerous, according to Arkansas State Police (ASP).
Police say Drake has a homicide warrant out of Alabama, where he lives, and is suspected of three other homicides in Oklahoma, including a double homicide in Sequoyah County on Tuesday, June 18.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) says Drake is also wanted for aggravated robbery and carjacking in addition to the homicides.
While ASP said in a statement on Wednesday that Drake is wanted for three homicides in Oklahoma stemming from two separate carjackings, Hunter McKee with OSBI says as of Wednesday afternoon, Drake is only their person of interest in the Sequoyah County double homicide.
“So I know that the Arkansas State Police put out a post, and they had talked about other crimes being committed,” McKee told 5NEWS on Wednesday. “Right now, we are not connecting this person of interest with any other crime at this point, besides the double homicide in Gans.”
McKee said that other crimes that have possibly been committed are still being investigated by OSBI and they are working “to piece that together the best we can.”
The Fort Smith Police Department said on Wednesday that Drake has “ties to Fort Smith.” We’ve reached out to FSPD who could only confirm previous encounters with Drake dating back over a decade.

I would like to like Tucker Carlson, but he’s been such a deep disappointment in his opinions of Jews and Israel. He was raised an Episcopalian and they were historically pro-Israel until recently. I don’t know where it comes from unless it was his parents.
He’s talented, likable and a good interviewer so why is he hanging out with people like Alex Jones ? I can’t figure out where Carlson is trying to go with himself.

I heard this woman interviewed yesterday on the radio. I’ve never heard of her, but apparently she is a big deal in San Francisco Bay Area as a prominent Democratic fund-raiser. She just quit the Democratic Party and is now a Trump supporter.
Her name is Allison Huynh [pronounced Win], obviously a child of Vietnamese immigrants who grew up in New Braunfels.
An ex-Obama fundraiser who once raked in millions of dollars for the Democratic Party is none too happy with the direction of the country these days, telling Fox News she is so dismayed, she’s switching her vote to Trump.
“Biden has been asleep at the wheel,” Allison Huynh said Tuesday on “Fox & Friends First.”
“He’s allowed Big Tech as well as the looters to take over Silicon Valley. San Francisco has been the science experiment that’s gone awry. The generation that was raised during the global financial crisis and the onsets of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars has been a stalwart for the Democratic Party for over a decade. I was knocking doors for President Obama and local Democrats in 2012 even before I could vote.
I served as a College Democrats chapter president through the 2016 election cycle, and then voted for President Biden in 2020. In 2024, less than four years into the Biden administration, the world and our country have entered alarming trajectories. While visitors to the United States have been asked basic questions about their military service before, it appears the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has singled out Israelis with a new policy.
Attorney Liam Schwartz, head of the relocation department at Tel Aviv-based law firm Goldfarb, Gross, Seligman & Co., told Ynet the new policy is “intended to ‘catch’ military personnel and police officers who participated in arrests in Judea and Samaria.”
The hunt for information may also be used “by the authorities for the purpose of formulating their position in relation to acts defined as genocide,” he told Ynet.

Following an enrollment decline, Emerson College, in an email sent to faculty and staff Tuesday, announced that it will lay off staff and not fill some vacant positions in fiscal year 2025, according to The Boston Globe.
The college is blaming the enrollment decline in part on “negative press and social media” from the pro-Palestinian demonstrations and subsequent arrests.
In the early morning hours of April 25, 118 student protesters were arrested by Boston police when officers swept through the pro-Palestine encampment at Boylston Place Alley, a public right-of-way that leads to the State Transportation Center.
President Jay Bernhardt wrote that he expects the enrollment decline to last only one year, but the effects will ripple through the budget for the next several.

The report by the Inspector General of the Health and Human Services Department comes two years after the FDA’s investigation into the Abbott baby formula contamination that caused nine infant deaths and triggered a nationwide formula shortage in 2022.

- While other good, faithful priests of various ordinational levels have been canceled (removed from parish or office, with no income on which to support themselves, and often prohibited from preaching or exercising their priestly duties for the public), for Vigano to be ex communicated will have ramifications that will reverberate within the Church Militant (we souls on earth, waging war against evil).
- In America, an organization was founded for those canceled priests (The Coalition for Canceled Priests, they have a web site), in order to provide support for those men. They have purchased an old monastery to provide housing for some of these priests. Remember – these are men who trained to preach the word of God and provide the sacraments. Most of them were not trained to be carpenters, or engineers, or to have any other marketable skill. That guy at Lowe’s helping you find the right screws for your project? Some of them are canceled priests.
- Vigano started an overseas version of the CFCP, called Exsurge Domine (Lord, Rise Up) for priests globally who have been canceled by pachapapa and his minions. I’m sure this didn’t go over well at the Vatican.

- Other latest news this morning is the beginning of the effort to declare the miraculous changing of the substance of bread and wine to the Body and Blood of Jesus (transubstantiation) to be in error. - Along those lines, the number of men entering seminary and weekly attendance at NO parishes has dropped precipitously. If the Church is a reflection of the world and not of God, why bother? It’s no longer calling us to something bigger.
- The number of seminarians from TLM parishes is skyrocketing, as are the population of those congregations. This scares the dickens out of the powers in the Vatican. Having a whole generation of traditionally minded Catholics would undermine their whole goal of the transformation of the Church of Jesus into the Church of the World.

Okay, MHarper seems to have lost our phone numbers, she called me only because she got my phone number from the message I left yesterday.
She has her backyard cleared out, but lost the gazebo, so Billy Cat lost his home. She still feeds him twice a day. She’s managed to clear enough stuff from her front yard that she was finally able to mow, but neighbors are dumping rather questionable and odd things at her curb rather putting them out as their own trash. I recommended she call 311 and report that her neighbors are dumping stuff at her curb and that she can’t remove it herself. One of the items is a concrete statuette that is “weird,” as she calls it. I told her that if she reports it to 311, that her yard is becoming a dump site, then she probably won’t get cited for having unacceptable trash out at the wrong time. She liked that idea.
It seems that she missed paying her power bill with all of the kerfluffle with the tornado she says came through her neighborhood. She spent a lot of time trying to call people and no one suggested that she might’ve missed a bill. She finally found someone who helped her figure it out, found her old bill (now two weeks late), and called her power company to make a payment over the phone. She now has power, but still hasn’t gotten a computer up and running.
I looked up the nearest Best Buy store for her and explained what the Geek Squad was. She’s put on her list to take her old laptop to them; if they can’t get her original laptop working they might be able to back up her stuff onto a flash drive for her. Quite likely they’ll sell her a new laptop. That might even be the best thing for her, since they can help her get it up and running. So, hopefully, we’ll be able to see her here on the blog in the coming weeks. She doesn’t seem to be in much of a hurry. She’s more concerned about her garage door that has started to make funny noises…
Anyway, she seems to be doing okay.

Mary Harper is not okay. Sitting in her house without power and not knowing why is something Joe Biden would do without his wife and staff to take care of him. This is really disturbing. I don’t know exactly how you help someone with no family or friends for support. I am very paranoid about calling social service eldercare outfits. Who knows what kind of people work there ? Anybody know an alternative ? A private non-profit that is trustworthy and could help ?

My wife is dealing with a very similar situation as MHarper’s with a friend of over fifety years in Austin. Lady is elderly, lives alone, mostly estranged from her daughter and brother. She is a hoarder, just came out of rehab from falling thru her rotting deck, half the electrical has been turned off due to shorts. Place is worth three quarter if a mill as a tear down but she refuses to let anyone touch anything.

I’m not one to pay compliments to the US Congress, but the House alone has introduced at least six different bills to reform immigration policy at the border and they have all been killed in the Senate by Chuck Schumer after being threatened with veto by Joe Biden. I’m just saying it isn’t fair to say nothing was tried by Republicans.
Even if those bills had passed, they would have been vetoed by Biden and there would never have enough votes to override it even if every Republican in the House and Senate voted to do so. Unfortunately, that’s the way American government works.
