The British really blew it badly in the Middle East. They’re responsible for much of the ceaseless strife and war-mongering, not only against the Jews, but among all the Muslim nations, Sunni versus Shiite being the worst. Here is one of their worst mistakes.

The Mufti’s rise to power was itself owed to intrigues. The British, who ruled Mandate Palestine after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, made al-Husseini the grand mufti of Jerusalem in 1921, making him both the country’s highest Muslim cleric and leading Arab political figure.

As Wolfgang Schwanitz and the late Barry Rubin revealed in their 2014 book Nazis, Islamists and the Making of the Modern Middle East, the 24-year-old with no religious training was likely chosen in recognition of his service as a spy for the British in the final years of World War I. The decision, the historians conclude, “was one of the most remarkable errors of judgment ever made in a region rife with them.”

Indeed, al-Husseini would spend the next two decades inciting anti-Jewish violence and refusing numerous British-led attempts to broker peace. By the 1930s, the Mufti was actively seeking—and receiving—support from fascist Italy and Nazi Germany. U.S. intelligence would later conclude that the 1936-39 Arab Revolt, in which Palestinians led by al-Husseini murdered rivals, Jews and British officials, “was able to continue only because of Nazi funding.”

Rod Dreher in the European Conservative:

Like Legutko before him, Janowski asks questions that are at best uncomfortable for liberal democrats, and at worst heretical. We still have the Cold War habit of getting our backs up when anyone dares to question what institutional elites are lately calling ‘Our Democracy’ (by which they mean unquestioned rule by liberal elites). But nobody today believes that the models of post-Soviet Russia, or even the totalitarian-capitalist colossus that is the People’s Republic of China, pose threats to liberal democracy, in the sense of offering systems more appealing to Western peoples. The enemy this time is … us.

“Democracy in 21st century is no longer a system that requires responsibility, intellectual alertness, and moral discipline from its participants,” Janowski writes. “It is a realm which promises to fulfill everyone’s infantile and unrealistic whims.”

No doubt owing to what he saw in the classroom, as young adults from the richest and freest society that ever existed manifested as petulant, spoiled brats, Janowski has grave doubts about America’s future. I first heard these kinds of thoughts from a European friend who had spent a year at Harvard, and came away shocked by how emotionally and intellectual fragile the students were—and how America’s most prestigious university catered to their immaturity. My European friend said this would surely have grave consequences, not just for America, but for Europe too.

Janowski had two and a half decades teaching in U.S. college classrooms to inform this statement in Homo Americanus: “Society ruled by intellectually adolescent adults is bound to lose not only its freedom, but against any civilization that understands that there is a difference between children and adults, and that adults always win.”

    Good news…

When Yarden Gonen told Gray that she hopes she believes female victims who say they were sexually assaulted by Hamas terrorists, Gray rolled her eyes and abruptly ended the interviewvideo shows.

“I really hope that you, specifically, will believe women when they say that they got hurt,” Gonen said.

Gray lets out a sigh, appears to roll her eyes and says, “All right thanks for joining. Stick around,” as Gonen is still trying to get a word in.

    but then,

A political commentator was sacked from The Hill — days after rolling her eyes while interviewing the sister of an Israeli abducted on Oct. 7 victim.

“It finally happened. The Hill has fired me,” Briahna Joy Gray wrote on X Thursday. “There should be no doubt that @RisingTheHill has a clear pattern of suppressing speech — particularly when it’s critical of the state of Israel.”

An outlet spokesperson also confirmed to The Post she was no longer employed at The Hill.

In a follow-up tweet, Gray said her firing was “clearly part of a coordinated effort.”

According to Briahna Joy Gray, mocking the innocent victims rape and murder is legitimate political criticism of Israel. Rot in hell, b*tch.

I still have a hard time understanding these evil females and aren’t a lot of the Israel haters female? Also BEING female, wouldn’t you think she’d have sympathy for rape victims? Not to mention rape, torture and murder.
Yup, there is a place in hell reserved for her.

They were warned over and over again. I also believe the 10,000 number is probably a lowball.

California fast food restaurants have slashed nearly 10,000 jobs because of the state’s new $20 minimum wage as struggling franchises cut labor costs and raise prices to survive, a major trade group said Thursday.

The California Business and Industrial Alliance (CABIA) slammed Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom for pushing through the law, which went into effect April 1 – and was blamed for forcing one beloved taco chain to shutter 48 locations in the state last week.

“California businesses have been under total attack and total assault for years,” CABIA president and founder Tom Manzo told Fox Business.

So Shannon covered all the bases on his blonde, brunette and redhead O.C. for Friday. Still in paradise and this will be our last but Sister is coming down for the day and we’ll probably head over to Barefoot’s for supper. Last night wife and I went to the Shrimp Shack, a hole-in-the-wall place and it was packed luckily we were early, about 5:30 so it only took about 20 minutes to be seated. We were #4 on the list when we got there and by the time our name was called there must have been a dozen names on the list. Oh and the Blackened Snapper on Cajun Rice was outstanding. Wife reported her Low Country Shrimp Boil was also delicious.

BTW; What got my attention is that the Trooper is wearing his S&W 357 cross-draw, right handed but on his left hip.I always do this while hunting because I carry my rifle on my right side so having my 44 on the left keeps it out of the way. Also this makes for a faster draw because it’s easier to reach across your belly than lift your right hand up high enough to lift your weapon out of the holster. Try it sometimes…….Oh and that’s a 54 Ford. 😉

Next he marries some Bimbo and then screws a pole dancer, she gets pregnant and has to fight him for any child support. Meanwhile Joe and Jill disown the bastard child. Oh and Joe Biden took showers with his own daughter. How many showers would you have to take after just being near ANY oy these people.
FWIW; I do have a little respect for the pole dancer, she is honest, she did it for money, capitalism at it’s best.

Hubby will be picking me up soon to take me to mass and then our meeting for the Rosary Center with Fr. Felix. after. Hubby, being the engineer type, wanted to nail down my pickup time after:

Hubby: “When do I pick you up?”

Me: “It’s a meeting, I really don’t know when we’ll be done. Probably around 2-ish. Maybe later.”

H: (5 minutes later) “Well, when should I be there?”

M: “I don’t know. I’m sure Father is busy and the meeting won’t drag on, but I also have to meet with this summer intern and figure out what she’s capable of doing. Father wanted me to supervise her, but I wasn’t allowed to help interview so I have no idea what her abilities are.”

    H: “So, sometime after 2?”

    M: “I. Don’t. Know. I’ll call you when I’m ready.”

    H: “Okay. But you’re sure it’ll be after 2?”

M: “It depends on her and Father’s schedule, but yes, probably after 2.”

H: “Do you think you’ll go to 3?”

    M: “I. Don’t. Know. I’ll call you.”

H: “Okay, then, call me when you’re ready.”

I had an epiphany last night about the Rosary Center database. I was trying to figure out how to deal with a relationship issue and about 10:30 pm I figured it out. By 11:00 the changes were made, but then I had to reprint my handouts for today’s meeting. That’s been done, as well as the garden harvesting, breakfast, and blanching/freezing of my green beans. And the changing of clothes from jammies to my church duds for mass.

I have time to peruse the Coffee & Covid column before I go.

    Today’s C&C roundup:

Good morning, C&C, it’s Friday! I’m heading out soon to attend the first day of NACL’s annual conference and deliver my panel presentation. Your quick roundup of essential news includes: D-Day veterans steal the show while Biden badly tries to compare World War II to his Proxy War with Russia; Putin interviewed by corporate media reporters and actually quoted in print; and a corporate media regular tentatively asks balanced questions about zany climate change plans.

Speaking of Normandy, if you haven’t seen this guy, you need to take time to do it now:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phXXBqwvfuI

It breaks my heart, for him and for our country.

  26. Tedtam Avatar

    From the C&C:

Former vice-president Biden was the day’s least interesting feature. Watching the various clips of the Nation’s top executive slowly maneuvering around the event was a nerve-wracking experience, like watching a video clip of a toddler crawling toward a busy intersection.

But the aged soldiers stole the show. Many of our troops still stood smartly in their uniforms for the proceedings. Biden faded in the background, looking older, frailer, more past his expiration date, and less alert than even the oldest attending warrior.

    True dat.

As soon as she could, the main handler for the impotent “leader of the free world” was led off stage, leaving the French guy to greet our American veterans. Jill took Joe away, probably because he’d already embarrassed her a few times with his dementia and old age – or age old – behavior.

Biden’s speechwriters swung for the fences and missed. The presidential address, a failed and inappropriate attempt to directly compare our sacrifices in World War II to the Proxy War in Ukraine, blew up on the launch pad like a jammed SCUD missile. Biden’s effort to draw the awkward comparison went on far too long.

One can only imagine what our heroic veterans must have been thinking.

Mr. C. points out that it is our turn to defend our nation. These venerable men have done their part.

  27. Tedtam Avatar

RE: Biden Co. sending and authorizing the use of American weapons to Ukraine to fire into Russia. Putin responds:

Then, he suggested Russia’s possible counter-move. “If someone sends such weapons to a war zone to strike our territory and create problems for us,” he wondered, “then why don’t we have the right to send our weapons of the same class to regions of the world where strikes can be made on sensitive facilities of these same countries?”

In other words, Putin noticed that just as the U.S. is arming Ukraine with better, modern, high-tech weapons to fire into Russia, Russia can similarly supply better, modern, high-tech weapons to the U.S.’s enemies, like Iran and North Korea. Which would cause huge headaches for the world’s police force, the United States.

The very last thing Israel and South Korea need is better-armed antagonists.

One suspects Biden and his insulated war planners are like chimpanzees trying to play checkers. Who is advising them? It’s like they simplistically concluded, Russia can’t do anything, so let’s go for it. But now that they’ve moved up one square, Putin is showing them his move, which jumps four checker pieces.

When you read the rest of the interview, you may marvel at a world where a former KGB agent turned tyrant sounds more reasonable than our “elected” leader.

The disgusting personal cruelty here is holding up this poor girl to the shame and mockery certain to come her way in this day and age. It is also the beauty pageant equivalent of every child on every sports team getting a trophy.

The larger crime is the destruction of the ideal of feminine beauty. It is part and parcel of Marxism doctrine to defame and destroy anything admired or cherished by the bourgeoisie. I messed up the link in the original post yesterday. It was this.

If they consider it possible to deliver such weapons to the combat zone to launch strikes on our territory and create problems for us, why don’t we have the right to supply weapons of the same type to some regions of the world where they can be used to launch strikes on sensitive facilities of the countries that do it to Russia?…We will think about it.”

I find myself in complete understanding with why Russia is going to further arm every enemy of the US around the world. I don’t like it obviously, but there it is.

“Tipping point” is something that can mean different things in different contexts. I think we hit the tipping point in the culture wars a few decades back. This tipping point above strikes me as being on a more existential level, and although it’s been building, things seem to be getting out of control more quickly now.

On “our” side we have a drooling imbecile of a POTUS who pokes the bear for campaign jollies. On “their” side they have a cunning and intelligent planner who, by all appearances, is doing what he should be doing for his country. Also, Russia has been busy making alliances with countries around the world who have no particular reasons to like the US either. Thucydides trap. YAY US.

Brit (and I) watches the trends. He knows his stuff. Right now the only thing holding stuff together is God himself.

      The culture has collapsed
The moral compass of this country and the world is shot
Our country has no borders and the people coming across are not our friends
      Our economy is shot
The world is full of wars and rumors of wars and our country is rapidly become target 1.
God’s time clock Israel and Jerusalem has Biblical signs occurring rapidly
As written the world is turning against Israel
As written persecution of the Jews and Christians is on a meteoric rise
We are involved in a world war it just has not been declared.

Hubby took me to church before noon today, to attend mass and then my meeting. We took a route down Mykawa Road towards Loop 610, which carries a lot of heavy traffic. We got caught behind a rig that Hubby refused to pass, even though he was going slowly. The driver couldn’t keep the rig between the lines, so I agreed with Hubby taking a back street parallel to the Loop and avoiding getting too close to something that could’ve knitted a sweater if yarn had been attached to its bumper.

  33. Tedtam Avatar

The meeting went well. the summer intern knows nothing about databases, so I gave her the 30,000 foot view and tried to download Libre Office so she could play with what I’ve done so far. We were unable, because we needed an admin password. Maybe she can get it done later.

I think my pastor is finally warming up to me. He made some very positive comments about my rosaries and welcomed some of my suggestions for the development of this rosary center.

  34. Tedtam Avatar

The intern also has the YT Channel I am using to tutor myself through using the Base database that comes with Libre. I told her she might want to look into learning how to use it; it’s a skill that would help her in college. I also told her that at some point, someone is going to ask her for a report, and it would help if she knew more about the product.

And I told her A Very Important Lesson, one that I learned over many years of IT experience: “Managers often don’t know what they are asking for. They may know what they want, but they have no idea for what they are asking.”

One project – basically one report – that I was contracted to do for one of my last jobs was one that my boss thought would take me 3-4 easy weeks. It took over 8 weeks of blood, sweat, and tears that had to be cleaned off of my keyboard before I could hand in a finished product. He didn’t thank me, just said “It’s about time.”

But the part-time programmer that worked for him from home? She completely understood. “Do you realize that you’ve done in a few months what no one has been able to do in 15 years?!” And darn straight she wanted a copy of the program. I asked if she’d let the big boss and his annoying second in command know what I’d managed to do for them. I was very glad to leave that contract. The PTer told me to leave several times, saying I didn’t need to be treated the way Bos and SIC were treating me. I was too professional to leave any client in the lurch, so I stuck with it. I’m glad I did. I was very proud of what I accomplished, even if the Boss wasn’t.

So, the summer intern should know that up front. Managers can be both a blessing and a curse, sometimes both.
