I just watched – for the first time – Out Of The Past (1947) starring Robert Mitchum, Jane Greer, and Kirk Douglas.

“Out of the Past is considered one of the greatest of all films noir.”

I heartily agree. Highly recommended.

This is a cool new aircraft design. Instead of movable surface for control they are experimenting with pulses of high pressure air through ports.

I grew up with not a single one of those sandwiches.
They have a strong whiff of being from north of the Mason Dixon line.

All the polls you see are full of bull. the steal is on and all the male republican’t politicians will be caught flat footed with their puds in one hand and a best of Heather Locklear magazine circa 1987 in the other. since 3/4 of the can’ts want the steal they’ll be more than willing to comply and accept it.… Read more »

The runoff to hopefully oust Drunken Dade Phelan is next Tuesday. This is the Houston Comical’s write up about the race.

The good news is that since the joined@thehipVampyre parties have already destroyed the country from within a few republicant’s are expressing faux concern over the amount Chinese illegals coming in.

Go get em concern expressors. You’ll whup em now.

It’s a never ending doppelgänger clown show.
or maybe you prefer this one.

This is Politico’s writeup on the GOP collapsing in Texas. They are such ridiculous drama queens. When nearly two dozen Republican state lawmakers defied Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to oppose a centerpiece of his agenda — the creation of a school voucher program — they knew they’d face political payback. But Abbott’s vengeance has been ferocious, even by Texas standards. He helped… Read more »

So, I was looking up nations who remained neutral during World War II at History.com. They listed 14 countries including several micro-states in the Pacific. There was no mention of Argentina remaining neutral until a few months before the end of the war in 1945. WTH ? Argentina was a major supplier of beef, wheat, corn, other foods and commodities… Read more »

Shannon and I are direct descendants of this man. They just trashed his legacy. Revolution was in the air when Benjamin Rush, a prominent Philadelphia physician, prepared the charter for Dickinson College in 1783. A grammar school founded in Carlisle in 1773 served as the foundation of the new college. In the decade prior to laying the groundwork for Dickinson,… Read more »

Frankly blogs are bottom of the information barrel. I am like Shannon, I refuse to pay to play. I have a couple good friends that make their money on Patreon. They are very successful but their presentations are all videos and the communities are echo chambers. I do not care for echo chambers.

I suck with dropping stuff into my eye, so they’d probably have to double the amount of medicine to make up for what ends up on my cheeks.

Amen.

When it comes to politics and culture I find that there is less free content out there, which has led to a lot of duplication in the “Free Zone”. And many of the free sites now require registration, which I’m not willing to do – I get enough annoying junk in my email already. Some of the best writers are… Read more »

On October 8th in Tehran, one day after the Hamas massacre in Israel, the Iranian Shiite dictatorship tried to rally support for Hamas by displaying the Palestinian flag at a huge soccer game event at a packed stadium. This is why we need to support the people of Iran and help them overthrow these thugs. The crowd was screaming, “Take… Read more »

Didn’t Google’s motto used to be ‘Don’t be evil’? Why did they abandon that position?

RE: Squawk @ 8:24 AM Squawk’s comments are all true. However, the dynamics of the internet are quite different than the early days when sites like LST were ascendant. Traffic was driven mostly by bloggers linking each other and blog rolls. It was spontaneous, organic, free and open until Facebook and other social media almost killed it. Today, any website… Read more »

Texpat’s lament  if this site is of no interest to anybody but mainly Tedtam and me then I am not seeing much future for it. Well we have till February of next year to decide what we want to do. The light bill is paid up till then. Building a blog to the heights LST reached is not easy. Content,… Read more »

Well, I have not had a garbage pick up since Tuesday of last week. My days are Tuesday and Friday. I completely understand not picking up last Friday but not picking up on Tuesday of this week is not acceptable. Dooood @ 7:00 AM I have several motivations for trying to keep this site alive, none of which are affirmation or recognition. If I were looking for either one, it certainly wouldn’t be here. I have done most of the headline posting here for over 10 years, 42+% to be exact. However, since this site’s daily content consists of a… Read more »

We are headed out to The Woodlands to Berkeley Eye Center to see about removing the cadillacs in our eyes. I’m hoping this place does not diagnose everyone who comes in the door with them but we both do have symptoms.

Can you say Fish Fry? 😉 We went fishing yesterday and didn’t have a lot of luck because the Bream weren’t biting, not even any bait-snatchers. We only caught 2 Bluegills on worms but I caught 2 Warmouth Perch on live Bream while trying to catch a Bass. Blue Gills don’t usually hit live bream but the Warmouth has a… Read more »

They went woke a while ago; I guess the amassed good will took a while to burn off. Will they be allowed to go broke?

Just my inflation devalued 2 cents on the subject of “audience”…

It’s been my experience that if you engage in any creative endeavor, you have to do it because you enjoy doing it. External affirmations of your work may well never come. Examine your personal motivation for doing what you do and proceed accordingly.

About Texpat’s comment about this place no being much of a use to us. I’ll say that I certainly don’t help a lot but this time of year I’m outside most all day but when I do come in for a few minutes I try to catch up and sometimes comment on what is going on but if I think… Read more »
