GJT, what do you know about this?

Elvis Presley’s iconic Graceland to be auctioned amid foreclosure, granddaughter Riley Keough ‘traumatized’

Elvis Presley’s legendary Graceland mansion is on the verge of being sold at a foreclosure auction on Thursday — sparking a dramatic legal battle from his granddaughter, Riley Keough, who called the pending sale “fraudulent.”

A notice from the Shelby County Courthouse states that Graceland and its surrounding property in Memphis, Tennessee, will be auctioned off to the highest bidder for cash on May 23, WREG-TV News reported.

Keough, 34, the current owner of the property and granddaughter of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, is fiercely contesting the sale. She filed a lawsuit calling the auction a sham, and on Monday, her attorney secured a temporary restraining order.

    With that, Mornin’ Gang

Read the whole thing. It’s important news.

On today’s Bearing Arms Cam & Co, California Rifle & Pistol Association president, and co-founder of the Second Amendment Law Center Chuck Michel sits down to game out some of the options available to the Court, and says he’s keeping “all his fingers crossed” that there are at least four justices who are ready and willing to take up the issue of bans on commonly-owned firearms.

Michel says there’s a procedural reason why the Court may decline to hear these cases: all of them have yet to be decided on the merits in the courts of appeals. The justices may want to let these lawsuits percolate in the lower courts in order to flesh out the arguments on both sides.

    and,

I know that Justices Thomas and Alito are fed up. The lower courts are basically thumbing their nose at them again, just like they did after Heller, but back then we had Justice Kennedy on the Court. The conventional wisdom is that he didn’t want to take another Second Amendment case… so we didn’t get any of these cases that we asked the Court to take between Heller and Bruen. We didn’t get any of them accepted for twelve years.

But now we have six, even though one or two might be a little squishy, in favor of the Second Amendment and also, I think, tired of the lower courts basically thumbing their nose at the Bruen ruling. I think they also know that the other side is playing the long game. The other side is hoping that Biden wins and one or more of the older justices will have to retire, and Biden will get to put another justice in there and change the vote around. I think they’re probably inclined to do something sooner rather than later so they can set the record straight.

    Jack Cashill at American Thinker:

In researching my new book, Ashli: The Untold Story of the Women of January 6,I discovered something unexpected: an alarming confirmation of my September 2022 article in which I argued that Educated Liberal Females (ELFs) are the single greatest threat to our enduring liberties.

My new book deals specifically with the ELF’s natural foes, the women of January 6. Among the ten women I profile is Dr. Simone Gold. Even before getting caught up in the events of that memorable day, Dr. Gold had set the ELFs on edge through her work with America’s Frontline Doctors, a group she founded.

    plus,

On March 9, 2022 the New York Times celebrated Gold’s impending imprisonment in an article headlined, “A doctor prominent in fomenting opposition to Covid vaccines pleads guilty to riot charges.” The article’s subhead described America’s Front Line Doctors as “a group that spreads pandemic misinformation.” That same subhead claimed Gold “stood by as a Capitol Police officer was assaulted.” Video released after the fact would show that the officer fainted and was helped back up to his feet by the protestors. The prosecution knew this at the time of Gold’s plea deal — the officer had admitted as much to the FBI — but she did not.

    also this,

The first 19 people to post an original comment were female, all of them hostile. A supportive male broke the streak. Of the first 50 people, 42 were female. Of that 42, two more or less defended Gold, but the other 40 met the general definition of an ELF. These are New York Times readers after all. The comments of the 40 were uniformly negative. Of note, some expressed as much anger at Dr. Gold’s Covid skepticism as they did her designation as insurrectionist. Some samples:

It worries me that I hear so few people talking about this. The only country not worried about an energy shortage is China because they’re bringing online a new coal plant each week. The rest of the world is screwed and Texas better get its act together quickly with a surge of natgas turbines and small nuclear plants in the near future.

Sweden announced last month they were through with the “renewable wind & solar” fantasy. No more windmills and solar panels for us because we’re going full speed all nuclear.

After defying the Covid fascists and now on energy production, Sweden looks like the most intelligent nation on the planet. Who knew ?

Figuratively speaking, arguably many of the largest firms presiding over monopolies already have a lot of it. But literally, the need for power to run AI models and data centers is rising rapidly. The IEA estimates global electricity demand from AI and traditional data-centers plus cryptocurrencies could almost double in their base case and see almost a 150% rise in their high case by 2026.

This will put tremendous strain on Western power grids which are already running at close to capacity, as well as increasing demand for oil and gas.

Compounding the problem is many of the top tech firms’ commitment to being carbon free by 2030 (several are already carbon neutral). That means they require a rising share of their power from renewable sources, such as wind and solar, putting pressure under commodity prices such as copper and silver.

Commodities are already on the rise this year. The Bloomberg Commodities Index is up almost 12% since February, while almost all major exchange-traded commodity futures have risen over the last three months. Non-exchange traded commodities have begun to rise too.

A Texas high school valedictorian gave a powerful, emotional speech dedicated to his father just hours after attending his funeral.

Alem Hadzic, 18, still wearing the muddy shoes he wore to bury his father, Miralem, revealed the tragedy when he stood at the podium for his speech to his fellow graduates of Early College High School on May 16.

“I have one more thing to say, I want to see if I can get through this,” Hadzic said before delivering the gut-wrenching news. “My father died yesterday, May 15, 2024, and I attended his funeral today right before graduation.”

“That’s why my shoes are muddy, that’s why my arms are shaking because I had to carry him into his grave and bury him,” he said in a video posted to Facebook.

    CORRECTED.

This is how stupid the Biden Crime Syndicate thinks you are.

The USA consumes 20,246,000 barrels of oil per day 368.63 million gallons of gasoline per day.

Biden is releasing 1,000,000 barrels of gasoline (42,000,000 gallons) from federal reserves because it will bring down the price of fuels.

That is 11% of a single day’s use.

Is there any thing in America not corrupted ? Maybe this kid can get a scholarship to Harvard.

Krish Pai, 17, of Del Mar, California, received the second Regeneron Young Scientist Award of $50,000 for his machine-learning research to identify microbial genetic sequences that can be modified to biodegrade plastic. His new software, called Microby, scans databases of microorganisms and determines which ones can be changed genetically to biodegrade plastics. In tests, he identified two microorganisms that can be genetically modified to degrade plastic at a cost he believes would be ten times less than traditional recycling.

The Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) is the world’s largest and most prestigious science fair. ISEF 2024 took place last week (May 11-17) at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

    but wait,

However, the image boxed in red above is a falsified image taken from online, and has had mirroring performed in the hopes that no one would notice.

The original image can be found here: https://www.mci.edu/en/news-filter-en/228-researchnews/4728-microorganisms-can-degrade-plastics and is from a European University Ulysseus lab testing Ideonella sakaiensis, a completely different organism than the one the Regeneron ISEF finalist used.

The ISEF finalist very clearly labels the figure as: ‘‘Plastic degraded by discovered microbes’’, which is clearly false – a clear cut case of fraud. The ISEF Finalist is taking other people’s data for completely different research projects, and claiming it as their own.

This 17 year old kid cheated like hell and it has become now the worst kept secret on the internet. An anonymous dossier is being widely circulated full of damning evidence of fraud. The event only concluded 5 days ago. What will happen ?

Popping in briefly. Good reading today. It’s about time for another lay down with ice packs and pain pills.

Only two implants put in yesterday. Time constraints was part of the delay on the third, but more important is that they wanted to wait until that bone graft in the right lower jaw is more mature before they decide to drill into it and do other unnatural but necessary things, like shoving a piece of metal into my jaw.

It looks like I may also need a tissue graft at yesterday’s surgical site. Those two left side molars have been missing for years, and the skin covering that part of the jaw had thinned out from non use. Yay me.

So, I have special mouth washes and antibiotics to take, plus Ibuprophen and acetaminophen. We get to repeat this again in a few months.

After the next implant on the right side lower, we’ll Begin to tackle another bone graft and baby tooth extraction on the upper right jaw. A baby tooth that cracked and had to be jackhammered out during my college years left an Everest looking gap in the jaw, and the baby tooth to which the later bridge was attached is showing signs of failure, 35 years later. The plan is to go ahead and extract the failing baby tooth when they do the next bone graft next door. When the graft is ready, I’ll get two more implants to replace those missing teeth. Then there’s some rebuilding of the front teeth after that.

Gonna be a long haul. I’m losing Dr. Gabriel, as he’s graduating. He likes me, so I asked him to make sure I got a good replacement. I’ll miss him.

I’m going to take some drugs, get some ice packs, and lay down for a bit now …

  10. Tedtam Avatar

Btw ..I got a look at an implant. Those things are bigger than you think. This is the part that goes into the jaw, not the crown.

If you, unfortunately, received the Moderna vaccine, I recommend you go be checked out by a pulmonologist. If you don’t have one, get one. This is serious.

A damning new study from some of America’s most well-respected researchers has determined that Covid mRNA shots are causing surging cases of strokes and sudden deaths.

The case study was conducted by Harvard Medical School and chronicled soaring cases of fatal cerebral ischemia over the past three years.

Cerebral ischemia is a form of deadly brain damage triggered by insufficient blood flow to the brain.

The Harvard researchers found that Moderna’s Covid mRNA injections specifically caused the recent spike in the fatal disorder.

Leading experts have been responding to the explosive study by raising the alarm about the mRNA vaccines.

For anyone who is interested in the drama and future of Facebook vis-a-vis Zuckerberg this guy takes a deep analytical dive into the fading company.

Over the last decade, few platforms have declined quite as rapidly and visibly as Facebook and Instagram. What used to be apps for catching up with your friends and family are now algorithmic nightmares that constantly interrupt you with suggested content and advertisements that consistently outweigh the content of people that you choose to follow.

Conversely, those running Facebook groups routinely find that their content isn’t even being shown to those who choose to follow them thanks to Meta’s outright abusive approach to social media where the customer is not only wrong, but should ideally have little control over what they see.

Over the next two newsletters, I’m going to walk you through the decline of Facebook and Instagram, starting with the events that led to its decay and those I believe are responsible for turning the world’s most popular consumer apps into skinner boxes for advertising agencies.

and here is what the author really thinks…

And I want to dispel a notion that many people have: Facebook has, from the very beginning, been a rotten, manipulative company, one that acted with little regard for users, even at times when it pretended to do so. The goal has always been more — not just more money, but more engagement, more time on the app, more visits to the website, and perpetual growth, all mandated by Mark Zuckerberg and a rogue’s gallery of rot economists.

I’ve taken the pain killers, so I’m going to try to get some work done while I feel all vertical and stuff. But no treadmill. Breathing through the mouth is something I want to put off for a while. Dr. Gabriel was giving me post-op instructions yesterday, and he told me that my jaws might be sore for a while since they were really pulling on them. (I must have a small jaw, because I kept hearing “Wider, dear” as Dr. Al-Safar was practially ripping my lower jaw loose from its moorings. They had a hard time getting the drills in and out of the operating area.)

I told him that I’m half Italian and I do a lot of talking with my hands, so I’m only going to be half-mute. He cracked up. He said he’s going to miss me.

  17. Tedtam Avatar

And while I’m vertical, I would be remiss in my duties if I didn’t at least share the roundup from the C&C:

Good morning, C&C family, it’s Wednesday! Your essential roundup of news and events includes: President Trump rests in Manhattan trial and heads toward closing arguments; controversy firestorm as previously redacted FBI operational instructions show lethal force authorized for Mar-a-Lago raid; shrimpy Red Lobster update; prison-planet caricature Klaus Schwab makes a big move; extreme hail events seem to be getting bigger and terrifying insurers; space weather records still falling after the solar storm and worldwide aurorae; and more good news in the conservative counter-revolution from the unlikeliest place yet.

  18. Tedtam Avatar

From Mr. C’s commentary on the Trump trial:

The precise wording of both the verdict form and the jury instructions can make or break the case.

At this point, Trump probably relates more than anyone to the Biblical character Job, feeling like it’s been one damn thing after another lately. Reading the comments to the Times article (not recommended) was a masterclass in how politics warps people’s perceptions of reality. Commenting democrats discard the details and view this trial as some form of ultimate justice for the many untold crimes of Donald Trump* (*sold separately).

Meanwhile, legal experts impatiently wait for the Supreme Court’s decision on presidential immunity, which could easily and instantly erase any jury verdict against the President, since all the alleged “crimes” of writing the wrong words on check stubs happened after he took office.

The only way out is through.

I bet that if all of the never Trumpers, Trump’s-a-racist, Trump’s-a-rapist, etc., were asked for the specifics that define their view, they’d get defensive and call the asker a racist, and/or then walk away.

  19. Tedtam Avatar

Re the “lethal force authorization” during the Mar-a-Lago raid:

Grassroots reactions to yesterday’s disclosure were (and still are) incandescent. Julie Kelley demanded, “What country is this?” Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), angrily tweeted “The Biden DOJ and FBI were planning to assassinate Pres Trump and gave the green light.” Social media influencer Tim Pool opined in outrage, “This was either an attempt to kill Trump or incite civil war, maybe both.”

    /snip

Here’s my hot take: The FBI’s “standard procedure” argument stinks. There was nothing normal about the Mar-a-Lago raid. It wasn’t like the FBI was raiding a Harlem crack house. The FBI was raiding a high-end luxury property secured by the Secret Service where the most recent former President lives with no intent to arrest anybody. The FBI knew that people with guns would be there — Secret Service agents — and yet proceeded with its “surprise” raid in undercover clothing.

It is also difficult to credit the lethal “boilerplate” to simple negligence. The layers of required approvals ran all the way up to Grandma Garland herself. Under no circumstances should deadly force have been authorized. The Secret Service should have had prior notice. The agents should have been unarmed to exclude any possibility of an accident.

A Vast, Untapped Source of Lithium Has Just Been Found in The US

In September 2023, scientists funded by a mining company reported finding what could be the largest deposit of lithium in an ancient US super volcano. Now public researchers on the other side of the country have uncovered another untapped reservoir – one that could cover nearly half the nation’s lithium demands.

It’s hiding in wastewater from Pennsylvania’s gas fracking industry.

Lithium is arguably the most important element in the nation’s renewable energy transition – the material of choice for electric vehicle batteries. And yet, there is but one large-scale lithium mine in the US, meaning for the moment the country has to import what it needs.

Officials at the US Department of Energy are desperate to change that. By 2030, they want all lithium produced domestically.

Expanding America’s lithium industry, however, is highly controversial, as mining can destroy natural environments, leach toxic chemicals, and intrude on sacred Indigenous land.

You want to know how stupid Americans can get ? There are evil, ugly tyrants living inside at least half the country just waiting for an opportunity to unleash a fresh hell on their fellow citizens. How much time and money do people in the US waste on stuff like this ?

An Indiana court recently touched off a firestorm of media attention and online debate by ruling that burritos and tacos are sandwiches. The decision exemplifies a longstanding issue in legal interpretation: how to figure out the “ordinary meaning” of words in a statute or regulation. It also highlights the absurdity of zoning rules restricting the development and use of property.

The case arose because developer Martin Quintana wanted to use a property he owned in Fort Wayne, Indiana for commercial purposes. In order to be able to do that, he had to get the Fort Wayne Plan Commission (a local government agency) to “upzone” the area from allowing single-family residential housing only, to allowing some types of commercial uses. The Commission was only wlling to do that in exchange for Quintana signing a “Written Commitment” (required at the behest of a local NIMBY group) under which only certain types of restaurants would be allowed in the area.

you’re not going to believe this,

One of the businesses Quintana recruited as a tenant for the new development is a Famous Taco establishment—a Mexican restaurant that (as the name implies) serves tacos and burritos. The Plan Commission contended the Famous Taco should be barred because these food options are not “sandwiches.” Indiana Superior Court Judge Craig Bobay rejected that argument, concluding that burritos and tacos are, in fact sandwiches:

Soreness from yesterday’s injection is relieved by 2 Tylenol tablets so far and makes working on range of motion much easier. Then I would have to deal with meager if almost non-existent revenue from internet ads to try and pay for broadband service.
