    FIRSTICUS!
Why am I not surprised that a governmental agency is destroying that which the fires missed?!?
The millions of chickens that have been destroyed due to ‘bird flu’ or some other such thing, the burning of slaughter houses, etc. it has gone beyond coincidence; the Cloward and Piven types are trying to collapse the system through mass starvation.

Our lives were much less dull when we had Douglas Adams. Here’s a little story from him. I love this one.

This actually did happen to a real person, and the real person is me. I had gone to catch a train. This was April 1976, in Cambridge, U.K. I was a bit early for the train. I’d gotten the time of the train wrong. I went to get myself a newspaper to do the crossword, and a cup of coffee and a packet of cookies. I went and sat at a table. I want you to picture the scene. It’s very important that you get this very clear in your mind. Here’s the table, newspaper, cup of coffee, packet of cookies. There’s a guy sitting opposite me, perfectly ordinary-looking guy wearing a business suit, carrying a briefcase. It didn’t look like he was going to do anything weird. What he did was this: he suddenly leaned across, picked up the packet of cookies, tore it open, took one out, and ate it.

Now this, I have to say, is the sort of thing the British are very bad at dealing with. There’s nothing in our background, upbringing, or education that teaches you how to deal with someone who in broad daylight has just stolen your cookies. You know what would happen if this had been South Central Los Angeles. There would have very quickly been gunfire, helicopters coming in, CNN, you know… But in the end, I did what any red-blooded Englishman would do: I ignored it. And I stared at the newspaper, took a sip of coffee, tried to do aclue in the newspaper, couldn’t do anything, and thought, What am I going to do?

In the end I thought Nothing for it, I’ll just have to go for it, and I tried very hard not to notice the fact that the packet was already mysteriously opened. I took out a cookie for myself. I thought, That settled him. But it hadn’t because a moment or two later he did it again. He took another cookie. Having not mentioned it the first time, it was somehow even harder to raise the subject the second time around. “Excuse me, I couldn’t help but notice…” I mean, it doesn’t really work.

We went through the whole packet like this. When I say the whole packet, I mean there were only about eight cookies, but it felt like a lifetime. He took one, I took one, he took one, I took one. Finally, when we got to the end, he stood up and walked away. Well, we exchanged meaningful looks, then he walked away, and I breathed a sigh of relief and sat back.

A moment or two later the train was coming in, so I tossed back the rest of my coffee, stood up, picked up the newspaper, and underneath the newspaper were my cookies. The thing I like particularly about this story is the sensation that somewhere in England there has been wandering around for the last quarter-century a perfectly ordinary guy who’s had the same exact story, only he doesn’t have the punch line.

H/T The Dull Men’s Club from over yonder. 😉

The Democrats aren’t even trying to hide their support and endorsement of these illegal protests. Excellent report from the fairly new, young reporter Jessica Cotescu:

Scores of “Free Palestine” protesters across the United States took to the streets Monday to block major airports, highways, and bridges. Those who are arrested will receive bail money and legal support from a left-wing dark money behemoth funded by George Soros, an online fundraising page shows.

The protests, which took place in dozens of U.S. cities including San Francisco, Chicago, New York City, and Philadelphia, were organized by A15 Action, a newly formed group that worked to “coordinate a multi-city economic blockade on April 15 in solidarity with Palestine.” The group’s website directs users to a “bail and legal defense fund” hosted through ActBlue, the Democratic Party’s online fundraising juggernaut.

Those who donate to the fund, the ActBlue page says, are sending money to the Community Justice Exchange, which provides “money bail, court fees and fines” and other legal services to “community-based organizations … that contest the current operation and function of the criminal legal and immigration detention systems.” The exchange is a project of the Tides Center, a left-wing dark money network funded by Soros and other liberal billionaires.

The protesters, who organized the global event under the title A15, targeted economic “choke points” with the express purpose of causing as much financial disruption as possible, according to their website.

In a sane world, as opposed to where we are now, Act Blue would be designated a domestic terrorist organization and all the members and funders arrested.

Posts from my family text line:

Military bases have raised to FPCON CHARLIE. I don’t know why, but it was reported that a 911 outage happened today for several states/ Texas being one. The outage lasted several hours.
    Texas News Studio posted this.

      What is an FPCON?

The Force Protection Condition, or FPCON, does two things to counter terrorists or other hostile adversaries:
      (1) It sets the FPCON level at Normal, Alpha, Bravo, Charlie or Delta.

      • Normal: Occurs when a general global threat of possible terrorist activity is possible. The minimum FPCON for U.S. Army commands is normal.
      • Alpha: Occurs when there is an increased general threat of possible terrorist activity against personnel or facilities, the nature and extent of the threat are unpredictable.
      • Bravo: Applies when an increased or more predictable threat of terrorist activity exists.
      • Charlie: Applies when an incident occurs or intelligence is received indicating some form of terrorist action or targeting against personnel or facilities is likely. 100% ID card check required.
      • Delta: Applies in the immediate area where a terrorist attack has occurred or when intelligence has been received that terrorist action against a specific location or person is imminent. 100% ID card check required.

I cannot find a single thing about this FPCon level alert. There is nothing in the news I can find and I checked websites for several military bases. If anything changes from FPCON Normal it gets posted to the front page of base websites and looks like this. Maybe it was only up briefly. I don’t know.
UPDATE: Found the story (posted at 8:50 AM EDT) and the FPCON CHARLIE was probably only up briefly. This report says only Del Rio was affected in Texas.

    More..,
These are site specific. The important question is where. I would assume elevated risk would be the bases we have in Mideast. If it is Charlie in U.S., it is probably result of influx of illegals coming in from open borders that are affiliated with terrorist organizations, or our intelligence agencies have received info on Chinese activity on Taiwan which is deeply worrisome.

Palestinian sympathizers have been blocking bridges here in U.S. San Francisco bridge being one. Glen was in the army and said it is early warning alert for first deployment and nobody can leave base. It is nation wide from what I read. I don’t know why, but do know about the bridges. The 911 outage is a separate situation.

Make no mistake about it. There is a lot of “fake conservative” wealth and influence in Texas behind Dade Phelan.

Texans for Lawsuit Reform is not the same organization it used to be. Dick Weekly and Dick Trabulsi, the founders, have either allowed or led the group to become a player in the power struggles of the state legislature rather than an arm’s length lobbying project for judicial reform. They are sponsoring a fund-raiser for disgraced Speaker Dade Phelan.

The other sponsoring organization is Associated Republicans of Texas (ART). You can see their executives and board of directors here. I have no idea why any of these so-called “conservatives” would want to save Phelan’s political career. Either they owe Phelan in a quid pro quo or they hope to buy his leverage for future favors.

I’ve never been so glad to see a guy quit the Lege. Huberty is the epitome of establishment sleeze.

Former State Rep. Dan Huberty is also on the event’s host committee. After being arrested and chargedwith driving while intoxicated after he rear-ended another vehicle while at a stoplight in 2021, he did not seek re-election and instead opened up a bar and cafe in downtown Austin catering to lawmakers, lobbyists, and reporters.

State rep gets arrested for DWI and reckless collision. Flips the bird at his constituents and then turns around and gets a damned liquor license to sell beer and wine mere steps from the Capitol. Only in Texas can a drunken fool pull that one off.

The 911 outage was this morning across Nevada, South Dakota, counties in Nebraska and Del Rio, Texas. This is ample cause to raise FPCON to CHARLIE level. See my response with links to Tedtam’s 8:35 AM comment.

Cyber attacks taking down national 911 systems are very serious events. What are you going to do when you can’t call the police ? What if your house is on fire and you can’t reach the fire department ? If someone is trying to assault you or kicking in your front door and you live in a blue state without a weapon, you are probably going to end up dead.

just passed the 1 million mark for border storming illegals, probably 3 million since government always lies and add to that the Kenyan regime III is also flying 40k a month in, again probably more like 70k since the government always lies, from all points unknown and dropping them off who knows where.

This is why the finance department of car dealerships is now the number one source of profit for the owners. Parts and service used to pay most of the bills, but they have been outpaced by finance. I sat and watched a finance department manager I knew get vehicles financed for people who had no business even having a car loan. It was some seriously sleazy stuff.

Three years ago, 28-year-old Blaisey Arnold entered a local auto dealership and came away with the keys to an $84,000 Chevy Tahoe.

But this month, the wedding photographer and mother shared a video to TikTok describing how she was forced to sell her dream car.

Despite paying $1,400 a month in payments totaling more than $50,000, she still owes a balance of $74,000 to her lender – GM Financial.

Not only did she not make a down payment, she said she traded in a previous car on which she had fallen into negative equity.

Negative equity occurs when a driver owes more on their car loan than the vehicle is now worth. Sometimes, a dealer or lender can offer to roll the balance of an existing auto loan onto a new one, making it more expensive.

It is not “sometimes”. It is every single time.

I saw this in my very brief association with the auto industry nearly 20 years ago. What I saw there should be criminal and probably is in other sectors of the economy.

This young woman made an immense financial blunder that wouldn’t have happened if we had a decent education system in the USA. She should have graduated high school knowing this was a bad deal.

There is a man who teaches at one of the magnet high schools in New York City. Several years ago he started an after school class on “how to live in America” as an adult. It should be a standard class in every high school in the nation.

He taught students how to open bank accounts, how to build savings, compound interest, how to build credit, about credit ratings, how credit cards work, how stock markets work, how banks function and loan money, how to get a mortgage, what a good deal on car loans looks like etc., etc.

It began as an informal lecture after hours with a dozen kids. Then it expanded into a summer school program and now is the most popular class for enrollment in the entire curriculum. It has the a long waiting list.

Re: high school life skills class / Texpat 12:39

Years ago, when Handsome was in grade school, the nurse and I were working on a class like this, but we never got it off the ground. It wouldn’t have been as full as a high school class, but if we could’ve gotten to those skulls of mush while they were young and taught them something about money…ah, well.

I remember one night I was driving Handsome and a female classmate to their basketball game, and she mentioned she was taking an economics class. I asked her if she understood supply and demand and she had no idea what I was talking about. As I drove, I gave her the Italian hand waving discussion about those two curves and pricing, costs of production vs. profit margins, how business regulation affected pricing and created shortages and overages in the market, etc. It had to be a bird’s eye view of the topics, since I only had about twenty minutes, but when I parked the car she thanked me. Then she added this frightening phrase: “I learned more in your car than I’ve learned all year in my class.”

Then what has she been taught all year?!

    1. bsue54 Avatar

Back in the dark ages when I was in High School the course was called “Home and Family Living” – it included such mundane tasks as making a budget (that fit into the income level assigned for that class), making a menu, “shopping” for the ingredients for that menu and staying within that budget.

This is not good news for the country if she is right.

A financial analyst nicknamed the ‘Oracle of Wall Street’ has said a ‘growing crisis of the young American male’ will cause house prices to fall as much as 30 percent.

Meredith Whitney, who earned the title after predicting the financial crisis of 2007 – 2008, suggested young men increasingly living with their parents and disinterested in starting families will drastically reduce housing demand.

The trend of men refusing to settle in turn means more women are remaining single into later life, leaving them without the income or need for big family homes.

But it comes as baby boomers start to downsize, meaning there will be a surplus of available properties. Much of the last decade’s gains in home values have been driven by high demand and low supply – a phenomenon, Whitney says, is reversing.

We’re going to miss Dickey Betts…Jessica

Jessica” is an instrumental piece by American rock band the Allman Brothers Band, released in December 1973 as the second single from the group’s fourth studio album, Brothers and Sisters (1973). Written by guitarist Dickey Betts, the song is a tribute to gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, in that it was designed to be played using only two fingers on the left hand.

Betts wrote the majority of “Jessica” at the band’s farm in JulietteGeorgia. He named it after his daughter, Jessica Betts, who was an infant when it was released. She had bounced along to the song’s rhythm, and Betts attempted to capture her attitude with its melody. He invited fellow guitarist Les Dudek over to collaborate on it, and Dudek performed the bridge. The arrangement was crafted prior to recording, which took place at Capricorn Sound Studios in Macon, Georgia.

When you mate a 67 Chevelle with a Tempest.

Beaumont was a make of mid-sized automobiles produced by General Motors of Canada from 1964 to 1969. These cars were based on the Chevrolet Chevelle, but the line had its own logo and nameplate, and was neither marketed nor actively sold in the United States. Its logo consisted of an arrow, similar to that of Pontiac, but with a maple leaf to signify its dual heritage from both sides of Lake Ontario.
