Pelt Merchant of Cairo – 1869
by Jean-Leon Gerome
This is an 1887 street scene in the port town of Jaffa, founded by the ancient Canaanites, and now known as the old city of Tel Aviv, Israel. (artist unknown)
It has only been 137 years – a little more than one person’s long life and now we see the profound change.
Texpat, beyond happy at the good news.
For you cooking aficionados: stainless steel pan cooking
I am going to watch some of his other videos. tomorrow.
g’night
Texpat Great news on the old ticker. Glad to hear that you healed well.
I can still hear birds outside. Boy do I miss that, my wife likes to sit in the bed early in the morning drinking coffee and listening to her birds out in her feeder. In warm weather she’ll open the windows. Since we’ve retired she has become an expert on bird calls, knows them all by heart and one day… Read more »
Oh and Fay’s hearing aids were high quality OTC devices that did not cost $3-5000.
Texpat – glad to hear you studied hard for your test 😉

Calling your house when you would answer the phone and Fay had the TV on. It was like having your ear drums sandblasted.
This is getting more fun every day.
Let’s line up the rest of the universities and keep this bulldozer moving.
Not that I want to bore people here with this crap, but I did find there were no clots and almost no scarring from the heart attack I had a little over 2 years ago in the test I had tonight.
21 Squawk Maybe Soros’ endgame is to take over all radio in North America. However, it looks like there are only about 8 or 9 talk radio stations out of 227 in the Audacity network and maybe 2 or 3 of those are even major market broadcasters. I don’t know whether they are hard-core conservative hosts or not. It’s difficult… Read more »
Finally got all the stuff done for my ortho doctors appt tomorrow – prayerfully we’ll get some answers and a plan to get this gimpy knee of mine sorted out.
I would come home sometimes and could hear the TV from the bottom of the wheelchair ramp.
And this place has good insulation and double windows.
I was so happy that Fay was happy with her hearing aids. I’m certain the neighbors were, too.
I have since acquired some nice Bluetooth bookshelf speakers.
My TV volume now sits on 6 most of the time.
(Out of a possible 100).
I can still hear birds outside.
Bones, if I thought I could….I guess I could give it a try. He’s had some OTC hearing aids and one of them actually seemed to work for him…for a while.
And I put “The Rockford Files” on for him as he came in. I think we’ve watched every episode of “The Closer” and “Major Crimes” fifteen times over by now….
#26,27 TT: It is time to take Big Steve to go see Dr. Sanchez the audiologist and get him some hearing aids.

Hubby was nice and put on his headphones so I don’t have to banish myself to the bedroom.
I knew he had hearing loss, but…wow. He can hear me talking just fine, but when it comes to watching TV…
Gonna hafta take my computer into the bedroom for my Latin class if he doesn’t use his headset. I’m a room away (though no walls) and it’s too loud for me from here.
Holeeee moleeee.
DAAAAANNNNGGGG!!!!
Hubby just got home and lately he’s been maxing out the TV volume instead of using his headset.
I can’t hear myself think.
Did I killed the blog?
My submission to win the internet today
Bones, that was great stuff! LOLOL
Hammie’d be spinning in his grave.
. . . . .and now for something completely different
Mild language warning
Texpat
Removing the opposition he controls the message. That is all he cares about. All of AM radio can collapse as far as he is concerned as long as right wing radio loses its influence he is good with that. To him that is money well spent.
Texpat
You completely miss Soros’ intent.
He does not care about establishing anything. He does want to remove the right mouthpieces on the radio. That is his goal.
’bout time a judge grew a pair: In his decision, Carney granted the defendants’ motion to dismiss, agreeing that Rundo and Boman were being selectively prosecuted, while “far-left extremist groups, such as Antifa” were not. “Prosecuting only members of the far right and ignoring members of the far left leads to the troubling conclusion that the government believes it is… Read more »
Major Cell Phone Outage Nationwide Affecting AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon; Some 911 Impacted
Cyber attack from Chynaa? Who knows? We can rest confidently that we will never learn the truth from this government.
I refurbed/planted two new tubs. The first one now pees into the asparagus bed, on the other side. I found some seeds for container tomatoes, so yay! me!. But now I can’t find the asparagus bean seeds that I saved from last year. I had them just. yesterday. /scowling Maybe they’re hiding with my engagement ring and missing socks. There’s… Read more »
Shades of — what was that other journalist’s name? Think she was a blonde lady, and her computer would turn on and files open, some deleted, at night?

CBS seized Herridge’s files.
Terminology Matters 😀
Every single attempt at Leftist talk radio has failed over the last 35 years and NPR would be dust without taxpayer money.
Soros is wasting his money and I’m fine with that.
I marvel at the artwork, especially the colors in the pelt.
Me – questionable stick figures are my forte in the art world.
#7 – Seeing the name “Stan Lambert” will forever bring to mind him (as Student Council/Student Body president) saying, as dismissal from an assembly, “School’s not ALL bad – it’s just the Principal of the thing” (which got him removed from the list of those exempt for final exams, after having to make a public apology to the principal AND… Read more »
OMG releases a frightening undercover video exposing at least one part of the IRS.
Finally rolling in/by. Got my morning stuff done and thinking about heading out to the garden for a bit. Today may be bean planting day, but that means I’ve gotta refurb more totes, which takes a while. I told Hubby that one of the tubs I set up yesterday will pee (drain) into the new asparagus bed. Since the asparagus… Read more »
Morning, gang! I got up sleepy so I don’t see much being accomplished today…
However, I really do need to go to the pet store and see if they have Friskies canned cat food in the format that my li’l buddies like. Kroger and Food Town rarely have varieties these days that my cats like..
It is all-out war in the Texas GOP Primary this time.
This race is typical of what’s happening across the state.
Interesting factoid: Of the 150 House districts, only about 15 are west of I-35
Did George Soros’s recent purchase just doom Republican radio media? Is George Soros trying to buy his way into silencing Republican talk show media? It’s a political nightmare that could be a future reality, as the left-wing billionaire reportedly purchased $400 million worth of debt in Audacy, the second-largest radio broadcast network in the country. Audacy broadcasts numerous political talk… Read more »
Man I am so glad I finally figured out it is Thursday.
I thought Texpat had gone weird on us for Brunette Friday.
I couldn’t pass up posting this one. ‘Gangster’ Sam Bankman-Fried pictured in jail, poses alongside Bloods members who call him ‘weird as s–t’ Crypto crime reporter Tiffany Fong posted the image to YouTube on Monday, noting that the inmate next to the disgraced FTX boss is a gangster named G-Lock whom she had interviewed. G Lock told Fong the photo… Read more »
Texpat @ 8:03 AM, I’ve been hearing alarms about China for a few years. Have you Read “The Coming Collapse of China” By Gordan Chang? I’ve not but I plan to, I’ve seen Chang on Fox for years, speaking about China and all that goes on behind the scenes. From Amazon; China is hot. The world sees a glorious future… Read more »
I have a long, busy day and then I have a cardiac test procedure this evening so I won’t be back until tonight.

Oh and if you missed it, you have to go back and check out Texpat’s Clarence Thomas video @ 7:47 PM. Clarence Thomas has a neat twisted sense of humor and always tells it like it is. 😉
China is not what most people think it is and it’s damn sure not invincible. A remarkable number of investors cling to the idea that China – no matter how bad the headlines coming out of the East – is inevitably on the rise and that it’s destined to eclipse America and the West. Those folks should pay closer attention… Read more »
There y’all are! I slept late, didn’t get up until 5:30 this morning but I’ve had my coffee so I ready to go. I mentioned that we got in about 6:40 PM last night and dang it is good to be home, 7 days/ 6 nights is a little too long for me and way too long for Dawg, she… Read more »
If a significant amount of homeowners in a place like Minneapolis cut their selling prices, the recorded comparables will drive down values and then taxable assets. The coffers of local and state governments will decline making it even harder to provide police, fire, EMT and other basic services. This is the kind of thing you can teach a 12 year… Read more »
If you tell the truth about who the cops are shooting, you might get shot yourself, especially if you’re the wrong color.
