I hate the argument about the Bill of Rights being obsolete because “assault rifles” weren’t a thing when muskets were the norm. Or that speech needs to be regulated because times are different and “hate speech” is dangerous.
I call bullwiss on all of that. The cure for speech you don’t like is more speech. And gun control only controls the controllable.
now hold on a sec big fella.
with a nice pair of headphones this one can’t be beat.
Sorry, Doc.

Which is why I’m not making the big bucks writing for SNL.

Darn it.
Nobody ever gets my jokes.
#75 Ahem. WASP Museum is named for: Women Airforce Service Pilots. When I was in 1st grade in Sweetwater, we lived at the “airport” on the edge of town. I’m not at all clear on what my father did there, but there were some barracks left over from WW-II, and we lived in one of them. And no, I never… Read more »
It’s encouraging to know that there is still a WASP (White-Anglo-Saxon-Protestant) museum somewhere.
Daughter and SIL went to the Rattlesnake Rodeo a couple of times.
Come to Sweetwater. Eat Rattlesteak.
And don’t forget the WASP Museum in Sweetwater. It’s small but they’ve added a new hanger that opened in 2022, I think and I’ve not been back to see it yet. I’m hoping to catch it when I visit my daughter again.
I’ve not been to the one in New Orleans yet but it is on my list. My kids went there with our nutty Beach House gal friend when they were 7 and 10. BTW; The air museum in Pensacola is great it’s worth seeing. And of course if I live long enough I going to the Air Force Museum in… Read more »
And my long-retired Boeing 777 Captain uncle, a docent at Kerrville’s Museum Of Western Art, swears he is still up to giving me a private VIP tour.
🙂
Then there are a couple museums in DFW, too.
And one in New Orleans.
More like two weekends. I went 3 different times (weekends) in 5 or so years and I think I finally saw it all.
I spent a little over a month flying in a C 141 testing the Crew Escape Pole for NASA/JSC. I operated the data acquisition recorder when the Navy guys would jump. Good times.
I already have the coolest Rolater picked out.
Because I have a few museums left on my bucket list.
The National Museum Of The Pacific War being tops on the list. Two days minimum, they say.
Let’s hope they have wheelchair access by the time we get there. heh heh. At the polls today, I knew all four of the election volunteer judges, as usual. I always thank them for volunteering to sit there for 12 frikking hours. For many days. Since I failed to be prepared and had to stand at the voting booth reading… Read more »
58 wagonburner I’ve heard the stories about the C-141. In 1970, I was living out off of Hwy 183 on a little ranch on Onion Creek. The creek follows the southern boundary of what then was Bergstrom Air Base. One day I was going home down 183 when I saw hundreds of cars and trucks parked on the side of… Read more »
Re: Uber When Katfish and I stayed in an Austin hotel for that concert a while back, he refused to use Uber or allow me to do so. He didn’t trust the outfit with his personal data. He confirmed weeks before our stay that Austin still had a couple of real taxi services that would show up and work for… Read more »

One of these days.
Let’s hope they have wheelchair access by the time we get there.
We had a fine supper and are now packing up to head home in the morning and I am ready! We couldn’t get a decent flight out of Burbank so we’re leaving out of LAX, bummer but that was the only way we could get to the farm before midnight. We need to leave here about 5:30 AM to have… Read more »
52 Shannon Your Biggio link is behind a paywall for me. The Houston Chronicle is offering me a LEAP YEAR SPECIAL subscription for 25¢. Yes, 25¢. HaHahahahahhahaha……….. Here’s wishing you and I were in West Palm Beach for Houston Astros Spring Training.
You should hear a C-141. The loadmasters pass out earplugs before they start the engines. It’s still really loud.
Yeah, Shannon disappears for days and then shows up and hogs the whole website for hours.
What’s up with that guy ?
/ so weird how that Shannon guy can take over a blog on certain subjects.
I’m no different than the writers.
I can hold a grudge with the best of them.
My huge grudge against Bags was due to him rarely hitting in the clutch in really big games.
/ now holding up large plexiglass shield in front of my face to block thrown tomatoes
I don’t mean to start a controversy, but I was shocked when Baggie was elected to the HOF.
There are at least three or four recent (still playing) Astros who deserve it at least as much as him.
Only time will tell.

It’s hard to say. Baseball writers hold grudges to their graves, sometimes.
The cheating scandal may cost all of them. There are no guarantees.
Altuve should go in on the first ballot.
Bregman is a Jew. So he already has a mountain to overcome.
Perhaps none of them will make it to the Hall Of Fame.
How Matt Galante and Billy Doran turned Craig Biggio into a 2nd Baseman. Before Biggio was ready to use a real glove – much less take the infield in a Grapefruit League game – Galante introduced him to a foam paddle. Soft-hand paddles are common training tools now, but they were relatively unknown when Galante showed his version to Biggio.… Read more »
So how many Astros of the last few years are going to the Hall of Fame ?
I was curious about how many games Bidge played Catcher vs. 2nd Base.
Heh. Looks like he had to start twice in Right Field.
I bet that a rough night.
2,784 total games is a lotta baseball.
I have a big ole pot of chili on the stove and just finished mixing up the cornbread, I’ll let it rise a little and then put it in the oven. We’re shooting for an early 5 PM PST supper the boy is hungry hasn’t ate all day. 😉
I read this, just a good ol boy, is currently on the receiving end of the projecting proglodytes Orwellian sea of hate because he made a comment about the Bey-of-ounces and her country album.
It broke my heart that Nolan chose to enter the HOF as a Texas Ranger, but nobody could blame him.
Shannon
I “think” I heard when they signed Altuve to the recent extension to make him an Astro for life that Biggio was the only other player to never wear another uniform. Not sure, could be just second basemen.
And by the way, Craig was the first to enter the National Baseball Hall Of Fame in an Astros uniform.
Biggio played for the Astros for 20 years. Biggio, who batted .300 four times and scored 100 runs eight times, holds Astros franchise records for most career games, at bats, hits, runs scored, doubles, total bases(4,711) and extra base hits (1,014), and ranks second in runs batted in (1,175), walks (1,160) and stolen bases (414). He also holds the NL… Read more »
Damn.
I just watched Craig Biggio do a brand new commercial for a local foundation repair company.
If that kid looks that ancient now, I must look like an official geezer.

ABC13 also learned on Tuesday that McDougal was seen at a mechanic shop near Highway 59 in Livingston the day Audrii went missing. Workers at the shop told Eyewitness News off camera that McDougal was there trying to get a part for his blue Chevy Suburban, adding that he was filthy, covered in dirt, and acting suspicious. That is some… Read more »
McDougal admitted to leaving the house with Audrii the morning she disappeared but would not tell investigators what happened next. Bones I may have voted No on one other proposition. Embarrassed to admit I didn’t review them before I voted. So it took me a while to review them on site. These Republican Primary props are usually pretty much a Yes. They do serve a purpose. Which is to signal the Karl Rove-types that the grass roots still support conservative… Read more »

He may be running scared because he has spent a boat load of money on this primary. Constant printed mailers, social media. Every other YouTube ad is for him.

My first-term Rep. grabbed his ankles for Dade Phelan…with no real evidence.
Trying to Primary him, today, felt good.
