mharper42 – I still remember trying to go get my DL renewed shortly after the advent of covid… and not having an appointment… so I got to wait in line to make an appointment to come back a different day. So many things that seemed second nature had to change “after covid”…

Thanks, everyone, for all the suggestions as to which DPS station I should go to. I chose the one closest to home, and having done that (online), that is where my appointment is tomorrow afternoon. I can’t go somewhere else, even if the street location sounds easier.
The presentation tonight was very interesting. I learned how generous George Strake was with his immense fortune, for one thing. Re Abbott and the announcement of invasion, yeah I knew he’d done it already. In his release today he said he’d already done it. I think the rerelease of the declaration today was to emphasize the middle finger salute to… Read more »

Well, I already make my selection on Monday, of closest DPS address to drive to from Chez Harp, so that is where I have to show up tomorrow. I’ll head out very early to be sure I can find it. Don’t worry, “very early” doesn’t mean much at my place.
We got lucky with our dad, he took himself out of the driver’s seat about a month before he got ill and didn’t recover. He still had his senses and directions ok but one day his shoe slipped off and hung between the brake and throttle pedals and hit a curb in his bank’s parking lot. He said he felt… Read more »
If Harper can’t drive down TC Jester in her own neighborhood of many decades to Dacoma and turn right a couple of blocks, then she needs to consider whether she should renew her drivers’ license. I am serious and concerned for her safety. I’m not trying to be harsh. I’ve been through this with a few loved ones and somebody… Read more »
Yeah, they want you to show them that at age 80 you still have to still have all your faculties about you. Don’t mention you drove all over the city looking for their office going off three (different) peoples directions. 😀
Mary Harper, this is for you: You need to go down T.C.Jester to Dacoma and and turn right. The DPS office will be on your left before 290. Please read the following: Drivers Age 79 or Older In addition to the regular driver license renewal requirements, if you are 79 years of age or older you will be required to… Read more »
I thought you wanted the Northwest office instead of the North Mega Center which is near Dewalt/Veterans Memorial . That actual address is 8418 Veterans Memorial.
Thanks for all of y’alls prayers for Headcrusher’s surgery. The surgery was a success, the work zone, however, is quite painful today. Hopefully tomorrow will lower that pain level. The burning lava going down his leg to his toes is gone.
#30 mharper42 – I have but it’s been a LONG time. I don’t remember it being hard to find but we were in an ambulance LOL… Looking at the map, it looks like if you go UP Veteran’s Memorial til you see Dewalt St… cross that intersection and turn into the first drive. Rain should be gone by sunrise. That should help tomorrow.
Knowing that you want to avoid the freeway, it looks like TC Jester all the way south to Dacoma, then turn Right.
DPS will be on your left, shortly before you get to 290.

Has anyone ever been to the Texas Department of Public Safety Driver location in Northwest Houston? I had a lovely lunch with Hubby. He likes to treat me every now and then. I have a little time before I start on dinner, then to church for the presentation on finding St. Peter’s tomb. I’m looking forward to the talk.
