G’mornin’ all. Gee, the blog is having a harder time getting out of bed and seems to be retiring earlier.
Must be gettin’ old.
This getting old is getting old.™

I was talking to a friend last night, and I’m officially jealous. She and her hubby just spent the last 3 years or so on their boat, cruising “the loop” from the Gulf, up the east coast, down through the Great Lakes, and finally back to the Gulf via the Mississippi. Then they just hung out in the Caribbean for a while. Now, they’re back in town, but “we left our boat in the northeast and bought one of those camper vans”. She knows I want one. They’re just tooling around now; this weekend they are planning on visiting some park between Huntsville and Dallas.
I’d probably find a women’s camping group to tool around with, at least at first. I know they’re out there because the Parks Department had some brochures that I picked up at the Crockett craft fair one year, and there was a group featured in one of them. While the idea of tooling around on my own is inviting, I need to get used to the camping/RVing life a bit. And while I can always make a friend no matter where I go, I think I’d need to find a social group at first. Plus, they’re probably some pretty fun folks to hang out with. And if they wiss me off, well – the beauty of having my own camper van would be that I’m in control of the ignition key.
But that’s not something that’ll happen in the near future. /sigh/

Mr. C. is back!
HARROWING ☙ Tuesday, November 14, 2023 ☙ C&C NEWS
Good morning, C&C, it’s Tuesday! Your long wait is over, and today’s roundup includes: Republicans bobble effort to impeach disgraced DHS Secretary Mayorkas; Senator Joe Manchin and another democrat congressman bow out; the Eric Adams investigation starts to get real; San Francisco gets a long-overdue makeover, but for the communists, not the residents; SADS a-list Hollywood producer; SADS comedian; SADS soccer player and on-field collapse; BMJ asks whether VAERS is broken; and more blue-on-blue prosecution as former Soros DA finds herself under the prosecutorial harrow.
NEWS:
He starts with the defection of 8 RINOs who sided with the dark side against impeaching the guy in charge of the border (since Kamala is AWOL on purpose and without consequences). The impeachment has been sent to committee to die a quiet, ignominious death. Marjorie Taylor Greene put for the motion to impeach. Mr. C. suggests that Rep. Crenshaw speak up in like fashion. Hint, hint.
…Twelve other lizard-lipped Republicans failed to show up to vote. I hope palmetto bugs skitter up their pajamas legs in the middle of the night. I say that from personal experience.
Here are the eight Republicans, may they step on tiny legos whenever they get up at night to use the bathroom, who think lying liar Secretary Mayorkas is doing a bang-up job down at the border:
- Rep. Ken Buck (R-Co.) 202-225-4676, @RepKenBuck.
- Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Ca.) 202-225-5672, @RepDarrellIssa.
- Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Ca.) (202) 225-2511, @tommcclintock.
- Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) (202) 225-2576, @PatrickMcHenry.
- Rep. John Duarte (R-Ca.) (202) 225-1947, @RepDuarteCA13.
- Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) (202) 225-2071. @virginiafoxx.
- Rep. Cliff Bentz (R-Or.) (202) 225-6730, @RepBentz.
- Rep. Mike Turner (R-Oh.) (202) 225-6465, @RepMikeTurner.
Extra credit for Floridians: Maria Salazar (R-Fl.) was a no-show to vote. (202) 225-3931.
Back in 2021, we started a ‘5-a-day Army’, where every day, C&Cers each called five legislators to deliver a quick script. Five calls, under five minutes. And it worked! We shut down entire offices and finally got the state Congress back to a special session in November 2021, to pass protections for employees against vaccine mandates.
Let’s do a one-day operation! It will make you feel better. Today’s C&C Army Orders: using any method you like, randomly pick three of the eight names above, add any from your home state, and either call or tweet the following script (feel free to improvise, but be polite):
Good morning(afternoon), Representative. Please explain why you voted to table the Mayorkas impeachment vote. From now on, please do whatever it takes to seal the border and deport every person illegally in the country. Thank you.

Today is National Pickle Day! So get yourself a jar of pickles and celebrate!!!
The picture is from the Andy Griffith Kerosene Cucumber episode. Clara Edwards who always won the pickle contest at the county fair and Aunt Bea who couldn’t make a decent pickle if her life depended on it.
This year I just went crazy with Allspice……… 😀

The weaponized DHS now has its sites on Mayor Eric Adams. It seems that he is no longer rowing the Democrat boat in sync with his fellows, and so must be destroyed and thrown overboard:
BETTER CALL SAUL. The New York Post ran a story Friday headlined, “Eric Adams had cellphones, iPad seized by FBI as part of corruption investigation.”
Mayor Adams’s political career is taking on water and looking a lot like the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
In a scene that could’ve been copied from any spy novel, we have this:
In something that must have felt a lot like a tense action-movie moment, FBI agents unexpectedly surrounded Mayor Adams on the street and ordered his security team to stand down. The mind boggles with all the violent possibilities thinking about how everyone must have calculated what to do next. But fortunately the Mayor’s security force yielded, and then FBI agents climbed into Adams’ black-windowed SUV for a closed-door private chat with the Mayor.
They took all of Adams’ electronic devices. Weird. When Giulanie pointed the Feds to Hunter’s hard drive when they were seizing G’s stuff, they refused to take it. But now – nothing was left behind. Weird. /sarc off
So now the feds prolly have all of Adams’ data and contacts, his text messages and emails. They’ll find something with which to hang him. Or they’ll plant it. I wouldn’t put it past this administration to do that.
What the WDHS is gnawing at right now for charges involves some kind of “bribe” involving Turkey. From what I gather, it’s some kind of gossamer thread that they plan to weave into a web strong enough to capture Adams – and probably his friends – as a message to other left wing mayors and governors to keep quiet about any failings of the Meat Puppet Regime.
Folks are speculating that the FBI’s process-crime-fueled escalation against Adams is politically-motived and not a legitimate federal criminal probe. The thinking is that Adams has been scoring points on Biden over the country’s wide-open southern border. That’s possible. Or maybe Adams’s border rhetoric is part of a Newsom-like play relating to a potential presidential run against Biden.
No matter how many times it’s happened in history, leftists never learn that weaponized law enforcement always turns inward. And usually sooner rather than later.

The above kill switch was inserted into the infrastructure pork fest bill.
An amendment proposed by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) to stop the federal government from basically taking over private vehicle ownership in 2026 and beyond has failed, meaning Americans will soon become prisoners in their own cars.
Massie, disappointed in his amendment, known as Part B Amendment No. 60, to H.R. 4820, the “Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2024,” tweeted the following after it was shot down, including by 19 House Republicans who voted against it.
Who were these 19 Rs who voted against it? Make them defend their votes.
What a bunch of back-stabbing, traitorous, scum-bag, liars. May they all roast on a spit in hell for eternity.

Childers discusses the sudden improvement of the street environment before the upcoming conference, which involves the Chinese leadership. Drugs? Gone! Tents? Vanished! Zombies? Moved to unsuspecting parts of town and out of sight! Dirty sidewalks? Cleaned! Trash? Bulldozed into trash trucks and hauled away! Hookers? They’ve probably been installed in (reasonably) clean hotels, available to service the APEC attendees.
So, it can be done after all!
And the residents are all asking “WTH?! Why not do this for US, the taxpayers?!”
And then, there’s this:
The City’s deplorable condition is not just a lifestyle issue. The City’s official dereliction of what is obviously a pretty simple security duty is literal property theft. By deliberately allowing rampant drugs, petty theft, and homeless mental patients to occupy downtown, the City has also accomplished the purposeful demolition of its commercial real estate market.
Hundreds of millions of private dollars have been vaporized, so that well-connected, donor-class oligarchs can snap up downtown San Francisco real estate at pennies on the dollar.
I believe that voices here on The Couch have made this point. Multiple times.
They’re not even trying to hide it anymore. After last week’s spectacle, residents and property owners can see it for themselves: the City could’ve fixed the rampant crime problem anytime. They just haven’t wanted to solve the downtown crime problem.
/snip
Haha, a quick makeover won’t solve all the problems. Consider yesterday’s Bloomberg headline: [Czech journalists get robbed headline]
Demonstrating to the Czech journalists how the first world operates nowadays, armed bandits robbed $18,000 of camera equipment from them in broad (dusk) light in San Francisco’s North Beach area, about two miles from downtown….

Bones – I mentioned the kill switch and the implications a few days ago.
I see a black market in kill the kill switches.

More SADS stories from the Suddenly & Unexpectedly Department:
1) An up-and-coming Hollywood producer. Kevin Turen was only 25 years old and already had some great successes under his belt. His mysterious death will remain so. I’m sure his wife will find some way to comfort their two children.
2) A victim of a rare and aggressive colon cancer will no longer tell his jokes. Marc van Gestel was 55 when he succumbed after only 16 months fighting against Death. “Marc wrote about his battle with his cancer on his website. Things were going well until last month, when the comedian informed fans his disease had rapidly turned for the worse…[Marc tweeted that he suddenly had only 3-6 months left]….Marc’s life expectancy was much shorter than doctors thought; actually it was less than one month. He kept performing comedy shows, right up to the end. We admire his sense of humor given the tough material Marc had to work with.”
3) A soccer player from Ghana was just standing on the pitch when he just plopped over and left Earth. No one was near him, no one hit him. Just here—-and gone. Raphael Dwamena was only 28, and a top scorer. He had been treated for heart problems since 2021. When was he hit with jab mandates? Despite emergency care and defibrillator action, he failed to recover.
RIP to them all, and to the vast unnamed, and comfort to their loved ones.

VAERS:
QUESTION ASKED. The prestigious British Medical Journal ran a story Friday headlined, “Is the US’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System broken?” The article reported on the BMJ’s own investigation of VAERS. And their conclusion wasn’t good. In typical British circumlocution, the sub-headline politely explained, “A BMJ investigation has raised concerns that the VAERS system isn’t operating as intended and that signals are being missed.”
IMHO, yes, it’s broken. On purpose.
The article was remarkable in what it implied. The BMJ didn’t come out directly and accuse the CDC of lying, not exactly, but it came very, very close:
The BMJ has learnt that in the face of an unprecedented 1.7 million reports since the rollout of covid vaccines, VAERS’s staffing was likely not commensurate with the demands of reviewing the serious reports submitted, including reports of death. While other countries have acknowledged deaths that were “likely” or “probably” related to mRNA vaccination, the CDC—which says that it has reviewed nearly 20 ,000 preliminary reports of death using VAERS (far more than other countries)—has not acknowledged a single death linked to mRNA vaccines.
Indeed. Here is the summary of the BMJ’s findings, which condemned the CDC’s antiquated system:
/snip
For example if a patient who had an adverse reaction winds up dying, their death isn’t shown on the public website. For “privacy.” So, not only is VAERS terrifically under-reported, but the data it does show is unreliable and out of date. Terrific.
It’s almost like they’re trying not to find the signals.
Indeed. It’s harder to see the dirt if the rug you’re sweeping the dirt under is just as dirty. Telling the truth doesn’t benefit the

The souls of the children of Gaza are poisoned. The adults who turned them into these little subhuman savages are among the most evil to ever walk the face of the earth.
EILAT, Israel—Eran Smilansky, a 28-year-old potato farmer, watched Gazan children go from house to house in his kibbutz on Oct. 7. Hamas terrorists followed. The boys laughed as the gunmen shot or dragged away Israeli families
“They were like young, young kids,” said Smilansky, who defended his home from terrorists for more than six hours that day. “They were going in front of the terrorists, laughing with their friends and looking very calm. I remember thinking, What the f**k?”
and this,
Like most of the Nir Oz survivors, Eyal Barad and his family hid in the safe room of their house from about 6:30 a.m. until the Israeli military evacuated them 12 or so hours later. But Barad, an engineer, had a rare view of the outside world thanks to a speed camera he had recently set up to bust his neighbors for driving on the sidewalk.
On the camera’s livestream, Barad watched three types of Gazans pass by his house: uniformed Hamas commandos carrying automatic weapons, RPGs, and grenades; casually dressed gunmen; and ordinary-looking men, women, and children. Barad said the ordinary Gazans vastly outnumbered the armed terrorists. He estimated that he saw at least a dozen children, who were between the ages of 10 and 15, and 30 women from Gaza.
The armed terrorists were in charge, Barad recalled. They gave orders to the ordinary Gazans, like sending the children to loot specific homes. At one point, Barad saw a woman run up to an armed terrorist and point him toward a house.
plus,
While Barad’s speed camera lacked the capability to save the livestream footage, it did snap photos 155 of moving objects between about 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Barad shared the images with the Free Beacon. At least five Gazan boys and two Gazan women can be seen riding stolen bicycles.
also this barbarism,
Raziel Tamil, 26, was hiding in a citrus grove a few miles north of Nir Oz on the morning of Oct. 7. Tamil, a restaurant worker from Kiryat Ono, had fled the Nova music festival in Re’im, Israel, after terrorists showed up and began massacring at least 260 of his fellow partygoers.
When Tamil looked back toward the festival grounds, several hundred feet away, he said he saw Hamas commandos holding a group of Israelis at gunpoint. Several children, ages about 6 to 10, then emerged from a pickup truck wearing Hamas outfits, he said.
According to Tamir, the commandos gave some of the children rifles and directed them to execute hostages, which they did. The terrorists shot more of the hostages and loaded the survivors into the truck, he said.

#3 Bones, as Tedtam stated this was posted a few days ago. As to the 19
RepublicansTrators, the answer is found in your second link.“Here is the roll call,” Massie added, linking to the House Clerk’s “Final Vote Results” for his Part B Amendment No. 60 to H R 4820, the “Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2024.” 19 Republicans joined 210 Democrats to defeat Massie’s amendment:
Gus Bilirakis (FL), Brian Fitzpatrick (PA), Mike Carey (OH), Chuck Fleischmann (TN), Andrew Garbarino (NY), Mike Garcia (CA), Garret Graves (LA), John Joyce (PA), Thomas Kean, Jr. (NJ), Kevin Kiley (CA), Young Kim (CA), David Kustoff (TN), Mike Lawler (NY), Nancy Mace (SC), Michael McCaul (TX), Zach Nunn (IA), María Elvira Salazar (FL), Chris Smith (NJ), and Glenn Thompson (PA).

From the C&C comments:
Regarding the BMJ article that said “A BMJ investigation has raised concerns that the VAERS system isn’t operating as intended and that signals are being missed”: as they say, “that’s not a bug, that’s a feature”. I think it was in the book “Turtles all the way down” (by Anonymous, not the John Green novel of the same name), it explains that the FDA or CDC designed a much better replacement to VAERS, but the government shuttered it because it worked way too well at exposing vaccine adverse events, deaths, and links to other diseases.
I think I’ve heard of the “Turtles” book. May have to seek it out. Follow-up comment has the link:
It’s a life changing book. It’s mind boggling how poorly vaccines are tested, including and especially childhood vaccines. The book breaks the myth that the government health agencies are testing vaccines the proper way. The link for anyone who’s interested: https://www.amazon.com/Turtles-All-Way-Down-Vaccine/dp/9655981045/ref=sr_1_1?crid=21JBCSQ6UMFXQ&keywords=turtles+all+the+way+down&qid=1699970203&sprefix=turtles+%2Caps%2C101&sr=8-1

I posted a comment about this right after the vote was taken. The vote count is out there, but I didn’t have time to search for it.
I did point out that Rep. Michael McCaul R-Texas, moron of the US 26th District of Texas, voted against Massie’s amendment to kill the kill-switch.
McCaul is Shannon’s representative and may also be for GJT and Phil as well as any other reader living in the Katy or Waller area. Somebody needs to primary this guy out of business.

I’m making more rosaries for church, since Father Felix is kicking off his rosary apostolate and we have a rosary for peace prayer event this weekend. The good thing is, I make pretty rosaries. The bad thing is, I make pretty rosaries – and I hate to let them go.
But they don’t do their job sitting in their bags in my house…

Here I am, y’all! I woulda logged in before 12 noon had I not just been on the phone making appointment to go to the optician this afternoon to pick out the frames for my new glasses. I just saw one of the Biden liars on TV that I’ve not seen before. He’s Mathew Miller, the State Department’s Spokeshole, so is he new or have they been keeping him hidden?

In other news in earlier hospital visits unrelated, it was found I had five kidney stones in my left kidney. Went yesterday afternoon for a ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy procedure to zap them. Supposedly minor but it hurts! Not as bad as trying to pass the stones I guess.

Before this Miller guy, we had this effeminate gay dude with the squeaky, high pitched voice. Miller is an improvement if only for appearances sake. The substance is still ineffective and regressive.
If you want to have a genuine State Department spokesperson everyone pays attention to then bring back this highly intelligent former Trump era State Dept spoxbabe after the 2024 election.

I’ve been drinking from Niagara Falls for the last three weeks,” Johnson said on Tuesday. “This will allow everybody to go home for a couple of days for Thanksgiving, everybody cool off — members have been here for, as Leader Scalise said, for 10 weeks, this place is a pressure cooker. And so I think everybody can go home, we can come back, reset, we’re gonna get our group together, we’re gonna map out that plan to fight for those principles.”
principles? Principles?

One of my cardiologists told me this evening to get one of these. I was aware of the product, but a little skeptical about the ads saying it would produce an EKG. It is a limited form of EKG that gives an actual real-time graph of the heartbeat in addition to the rate. Plus, the doctor said if I was feeling weird, I can email him my current EKG through the app and then give him a call.
Okay, I was sold.
Kardia.com has these for $79 and I got a 15% discount with this code: LIFEMART
The credit card version is $89 and I assume the code works with it.

It’s about an independent Catholic filmmaker.

Yes, I did. I wanted to see Exemplum but forgot about it.
December 1 is the debut of “Shift,” another Affirm Studio film. I want to see that one, too.

Ah, it’s from Angel Studios. The same folks that made “The Chosen” and “Abraham” possible.
I watched the recent movie about near death experiences, but the name of the documentary movie escapes me at the moment. Let’s just say that while most people have a good NDE, some of ’em don’t. They tend to change their lives when they return to this mortal coil.
