Morning! Getting out of Niagara Falls, Canada before we go broke. Headed to Manchester, NH to visit wife’s nephew, Robin’s son, and baby we’ve never met.

Niagara Falls is breathtakingly beautiful, so glad we made the trip.

Scalise bows out, and this is probably a good thing for him: the stress of the speakership – particularly now – coupled with his cancer diagnosis is just not a good combination.  The big question for me is would Scalise endorsing Jordan help or hurt the chances of Jordan getting the Speakership?

I think that Jordan is the better choice and I have read accounts that many in the moderate wing of Rs really like him on a personal level.  Perhaps because he is a decent guy, they will be willing to work with him.

According to today’s C&C, DeSantis and Florida’s Division of Emergency Management is running charters to pick up Americans stranded in Israel.

I’m just now settling down in front of the pooter.  Had another bad sleep night.  Around 3:00 a.m. I decided to read some from the Good Book, watched a video on knot tying for my rosary project at hand,  and thought maybe I had done enough to make sleep possible. I had taken off the knee brace, which felt AWESOME.  I thought that its removal would make me more comfortable, which it did.  The brace pulls on the sheets and is even more of a PITA in bed than during the day.  I rolled over and tried to  rest my knee on my body pillow (I have a hard time sleeping without pillows under my knees, back issues) and tweaked the dang thing. Nothing like an OUCH as you’re drifting off to sleep to ruin the mood.

Woke me back up, put the *%!%@!! brace back on, and eventually fell asleep.  Woke up at 7:30, closed the eyes, woke up at 8:30 – just in time to get a phone call from Hubby.  He’d left the eviction papers behind when he left for Bryan this morning.  So, I had to hustle butt out of bed and find a place where he could pick them up and make those arrangements.

You know, I would say the day only has to get better from here, but I know better than that…

The OC pic – what a beautiful young lady.  So sad.

RE: previous C&C story mention (I haven’t had time to meander over yet) – why hasn’t Trump done anything?  This surprises me, as this is exactly the kind of thing he’d do.

Or maybe he is, but keeping it under the radar for some reason.  He’s not an under-the-radar kinda guy, but he’s quite capable of keeping his mouth shut when it’s absolutely necessary.  War plans and rescue missions would fall into that category.

    JILTED ☙ Friday, October 13, 2023 ☙ C&C NEWS

Good morning, C&C, it’s Friday! Your roundup today includes: Governor DeSantis does something practical to rescue Americans stranded in the war-torn Middle East; Steve Scalise drops out of Speaker’s race; Harvard’s woke president reels under Hamas controversy; Middle East war briefing; secret Hamas planning documents surface suggesting larger operation; world support for Israel is bad news for Ukraine; Putin calls for immediate ceasefire; Friday medical emergencies update; SADS comedian; and good counter-revolutionary news as ‘anti-racism’ begins to topple in the New York Times.

    News:

First up, Kristi Noem is TALL.  A beautiful, statuesque woman.

Next up, the aforementioned rescue flights sponsored by Florida:

DeSantis estimates 20K American citizens stranded in the area, including a group from his church.  I watched a video last night about a Catholic tour group that was in the last plane allowed to land as the war began.

So yesterday afternoon, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed an executive order directing Florida’s Division of Emergency Management to immediately charter planes to retrieve Americans who are stranded amidst the conflict — regardless of which state they’re from — and get them safely back home from Israel at no charge.

DeSantis’ administration reported that at least 35 Americans stranded in Israel have reached out to the Florida governor’s office for help so far, after being ghosted by the U.S.’s useless Embassy in Israel, which Biden and the State Department told them to call in their social media advisories.

Florida’s rescue planes will also haul emergency relief supplies to Israel on their inbound trips.

This is presidential behavior.  Good for him.  Supposedly DeSantis took action after watching the current admin’s “buffoonery”.  His word, not mine, and totally accurate:

First, admin said they’d do something…then not sure how many, if any, Americans were stranded…then ran into logistical problems ….no timeline…then looking into other options…

What? Land or sea? Like walking across the desert or swimming the Suez Canal? And, exploring options? They’re exploring the options? Like Cortés or something? Do they plan to get back from the exploration before the holidays?

Kirby said there was no timeline yet.

You can tell Childers is wissed off.  This is incompetence at its public worst.  Biden Co. looks even more infantile and ineffective than usual, if that’s possible.  And lives are in the balance.

Wiss you, Biden, and the horse you rode in on.

So, DeSantis put down his middle finger and signed an executive order.

Next up, the connection between terrorism and our non-existent southern border:

Also yesterday, Governor DeSantis — I have intel suggesting he got our letter — connected the dots between what’s happening in Israel and our own border problem. In an yesterday’s extended tweet expressing support for Israel, Governor DeSantis concluded with a three-part action plan ending with fixing America’s broken border:

    image 5.png

It’s a start! It’s not enough though. Our elected leaders must start imagining the unimaginable — which Israel’s leaders failed to do — and must consider how to mitigate and respond to well-organized, well-equipped terrorist sneak attacks on soft civilian targets and infrastructure inside the United States.

… it seems entirely uncontroversial that we urgently need to get our own citizens ready to fight back if there’s a sneak attack here on soft targets with power knocked out and with local police somehow having been neutralized. If the power goes out, that should be a red alert for citizens to prepare for the worst.

Since our governments have been more interested in funding their cronies instead of shielding our power grid, it wouldn’t take much to literally make us powerless.  And since we now have swaths of dependent, victim-martyr people in our population who wait on the government to fix their every problem, we have a lot of folks who would be paralyzed in the face of an attack.

…Since the federal government will never do it, if for no other reason than that it makes their wide-open border policy look bad, the States must start preparing their citizens…

RE: Harvard anti-Semites and their crawdad dance

Yesterday there was discussion about the 37 groups and their constituents signing onto a declaration that Israel was responsible for their just punishment.  At least, that’s the gist of the letter.  When CEO’s began unhiring their Harvard applicants, there was a sudden WHOOSHing sound as those students realized that their loud liberal leanings have real world effects and they began shutting down their social media accounts to hide their potentially scandalous backgrounds.

I hate to tell them, but the internet never forgets.  It may get slowed down, but somewhere out there is their signature on all sorts of nefarious platforms….

After the anti-Israel letter went viral, major donors demanded that Harvard identify the students who signed the letter. Former presidents and high-profile alumni denounced the letter. An LCD panel truck drove around Cambridge yesterday displaying the names and photos of alleged student signers of the letter.

Meanwhile, the brave students who anonymously signed the letter have turned chicken in the face of potential cancellation. Well, they should know.

The head of Harvard has been doing her form of crawdadding, but on a tightrope.  She’s trying to protect the students and make things all better, without actually changing things.

As the Crimson’s article reported, Gay — who is so unqualified to run Harvard that it insults unqualified people — is on her fourth try in four days to condemn Hamas in sufficiently strong terms to placate offended stakeholders. When at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Gay steadfastly refuses to disclose any student names though, patriotically but ironically calling for — I promise I am not making this up — everyone to appreciate the Founding Fathers’ values of freedom of speech and free expression.

Based solely on the photo, above, I probably don’t need to tell you that Gay’s entire academically-uninspiring career is 100% pure racial grievance politics, and the words “freedom of speech” are painfully difficult for her to pronounce since she’s never uttered them before. It’s currently coming out more like “fweedern of swiss,” but she’ll get the hang of it if she keeps trying. Try, try again.

It looks like Israel is preparing for a ground war, and is warning Palestinians to leave the potential battle ground.

Israel’s opponents are scoffing just where are the Palestinians supposed to go?, since it appears nobody wants them. At least, none of the otherwise outraged Muslim countries in the area have so far offered to shelter any Palestinian refugees.

This has been the plight of the “Palestinian people” ever since that group was created some years ago.  They are political pawns that no one likes or wants. They are pit bulls of the terrorist world: vicious, capable of great violence, trainable to attack, but who the heck really trusts the breed?

I’m sure there are some nice, regular Pali people.  As I say: People are people, no matter where you go.  Most people just want to live their lives in peace.  They are being lumped in with the fanatics.   Unfortunately, this group was designated to be the Middle East’s pinata, and they are all inside that pinata, being banged around.

Zelensky panics as he hears about money drying up.  His “support flag” is being replaced by the Israeli flag.  He’s finding himself all alone on the dance floor, pathetically looking for a partner.

Russia is amping up its offensive.  Never let a good crisis go to waste.

And surprisingly, Putin is beginning to appear to be more of a diplomat for peace in Israel than the meat puppet.  I guess it really isn’t too surprising.  That’s a pretty low bar.

If you believe groups like Hamas actually care about other Muslims…you would be and could be dead wrong.

A Muslim doctor who normally comes to the rescue of others needed to be rescued himself when he was shot and held hostage by Hamas terrorists disguised as Israel Defense Forces soldiers and used as a human shield.

When Hamas launched its terror campaign on Israel Saturday morning, Dr. Tarek Abu Arar, 33, became instantly ensnared in the surprise attack en route to his shift in the ER at Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon, a coastal city near the Gaza border.

As the United Hatzalah volunteer physician approached a junction near Sderot, he encountered someone who appeared injured on the side of the road next to a 4×4 vehicle.

“At that moment, there had been no reports of any infiltration,” recounted Abu Arar, who heard the country’s “red alert” siren some 20 minutes earlier — prompting him to make what would be a life-saving decision.

I mentioned it last night, but today is the anniversary of the “Miracle of the Sun” at Fatima, Portugal.  I pray a daily rosary for the intentions of Our Lady at Fatima, for world peace.

One of the most documented and witnessed miracles ever.

Three young children had witnessed multiple apparitions of Mary, but there were skeptics. The communist governor actually kidnapped the children so they’d miss one of their Marian “appointments”.

A few years before, a revolution had led to the establishment of the First Portuguese Republic in 1910 and a new liberal constitution was drafted under the influence of Freemasonry, which sought to suppress the faith from public life. Catholic churches and schools were seized by the government, and the wearing of clerics in public, the ringing of church bells, and the celebration of public religious festivals were banned. Between 1911 and 1916, nearly 2,000 priests, monks, and nuns were killed by anti-Christian groups.

This was the backdrop against which, in 1917, a lady believed to be the Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children — Lucia dos Santos, 10, and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto, 9 and 7 — in a field in Fátima, Portugal, bringing with her requests for the recitation of the rosary, for sacrifices on behalf of sinners, and a secret regarding the fate of the world.

To prove that the apparitions were true, the lady promised the children that during the last of her six appearances, she would provide a sign so people would believe in the apparitions and in her message. What happened on that day — Oct. 13, 1917 — has come to be known as the “Miracle of the Sun,” or “the day the sun danced.”

According to various accounts, a crowd of some 70,000 people — believers and skeptics alike —gathered to see the miracle that was promised: The rainy sky cleared up, the clouds dispersed, and the ground, which had been wet and muddy from the rain, dried up. A transparent veil came over the sun, making it easy to look at, and multicolored lights were strewn across the landscape. The sun then began to spin, twirling in the sky, and at one point appeared to veer toward the earth before jumping back to its place in the sky.

The stunning event was a direct and very convincing contradiction to the atheistic regimes at the time, which is evidenced by the fact that the first newspaper to report on the miracle on a full front page was an anti-Catholic, Masonic newspaper in Lisbon called O Seculo.

The miracle of the sun was understood by the people to be “the seal, the guarantee, that in fact those three children were telling the truth,” Duarte said.

We need to just shut down the state of Oklahoma until we can figure what the hell is going on there.

    This is beyond disgusting.

An Oklahoma judge caught playing with her phone as a mother sobbed about the murder of her child faces a formal push to remove her from the bench after it emerged she sent 500 texts to her bailiff — including some ridiculing the prosecutors and calling the dead toddler’s mom “liar, liar.”

The chief justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court recommended the removal of Lincoln County District Judge Traci Soderstrom in a court filing Tuesday following an investigation by the state’s Council on Judicial Complaints.

Soderstrom — who had only been sworn in as a judge in January — had been caught on surveillance footage in June constantly playing with her phone during Khristian Martzall’s trial for the murder of beaten 2-year-old Braxton Danker.

When the toddler’s mom, Judith Danker, took the stand as a key prosecution witness against Martzall, her boyfriend, Soderstrom texted: “Can I please scream ‘liar, liar?”

Travel up here is a little different, you don’t just dive off the interstate for a quick pee and grab a sammich, you go to a “travel plaza” with several food joints, restrooms and gas. What usually is a fifteen minute stop is a half hour plus due to food court/airport quality service and cattle lined up to the restrooms. I get the concept but…realities.

In an interview late last night, the former director of the Israeli program that provides electricity, water, food and building materials to Gaza was on television.

He said for several years Israel has supplied only 45% of the electricity and 10% of the water to the Gaza Strip.  Hamas didn’t want Israel to have total control over this even though it was free.  Hamas went to Egypt who now sells 55% of electricity and 90% of the water to the area.

Once Hamas started with Egypt suppliers they began adding a huge tax on electricity and water before they billed the Palestinian people.  This money amounts to many millions of dollars each year and is completely unaccounted for in any audits.  It goes right straight into the pockets of Hamas leaders.

The state owned rest stops in the Northeast and New England are merely a way to generate more corruption.  It is very expensive to bid on and get accepted as a vendor in one of these places while greasing palms and moving money under the table helps greatly in getting contracts.  It’s all about government control and graft.  The locals raised around here blindly accept it as if it were an organic reality and the whole country operates this way.

You mean people can own private property on an interstate freeway and open their own restaurant and gas station ?  And the government doesn’t tell them what to charge customers ?

Who would have ever thought that was possible ?

Texas Tech University education Professor Jairo I. Fúnez-Flores wrote on X hours after Oct. 7 attacks that “decolonization is not a metaphor. It’s about a free Palestine.”

The professor, who specializes in “decolonial theory” and “activist research,” wrote “decolonization is about dreaming and fighting for a present and future free of occupied Indigenous territories.”

This piece of human debris is among many American academics advocating “decolonizing” Gaza and law prof Glenn Reynolds suggested decolonizing by giving the Gaza Strip back to Egypt, but Israel tried to do that in the past and the Egyptians said, “Oh, Hell no !.”

As noted, if Egypt were to accept Gaza back deadly ethnic laundering and deportations would occur by the hundreds of thousands.

There was a great song back in the 1960s or ’70s by a guy and his big lovin’ girlfriend.  A number of people covered it.

Her name was Rosie, too.  I don’t think Jardiance had been invented yet or all the nauseating Big Pharma commercials.

The great American songwriter, Johnny Mercer, founder of Capitol Records and native of Savannah, Georgia wrote it.

    Huggin’ and Chalkin’

    I got a gal that’s mighty sweet
With big blue eyes and tiny feet
    Her name is Rosabelle Malone
And she tips the scale at twenty stone

Oh, gee, but ain’t it grand to have a girl so big and fat
That when you go to hug her, you don’t know where you’re at
You have to take a piece of chalk in your hand
And hug a ways and chalk a mark to see where you began

    One day I was a-huggin’ and a-chalkin’ and a-chalkin’ and a-huggin’ away
When I met another fella with some chalk in his hand
Comin’ around the other way over the mountain
    Comin’ around the other way
