The Texas Heist / Do Democrats Run the Texas House ?

By Michael Quinn Sullivan

This is a very well produced video of political history of the state legislature since the 1990s and how Texas arrived at this position today – the lies, the backstabbing tricks and the chicanery.

Shame on you if you don’t watch the whole thing.

Forgot to add:  Texan by choice, not by chance.

Unfortunately Fort Bend County is one of the fastest growing counties in the US.  Got too many northerners escaping the MidWest and East and Californication coming to Texas and to our county.  So we who have lived here for many years are slowly being mixed with newcomers, many of whom come from liberal areas elsewhere and are rather startled to… Read more »

Whooooof…. I won’t have to be rocked to sleep tonight. I finally got my FD stir-fry veggies vac-sealed and put away, and most of my mess cleaned up, after doing some cleaning in/around the chest freezer.  At least, everything is cleaned and put away – still gotta make the coffee if I can find enough energy, and the Astros game… Read more »

Hubby just got back from helping a friend trailer a Karmann Ghia to their house this evening.  As he pulled into our driveway, he saw a wrecker pull in to the driveway next door.  This is the house that’s been vacant for years.  The house where dogs had been left alone inside for weeks at a time. We know there… Read more »

So, I’m not keeping up but daughter and SIL lived in Fort Bend county (Richmond) when it was deep red but they say it’s already turned blue. SIL was a Probation Officer for the county and loved the fact that they had good normal judges unlike Harris County. As y’all may know daughter and SIL have been in Midland for… Read more »

I knew about the whole Covid and Costner thing. I’m still surprised there was zero progress on production prior to the strike.

FWIW; The FEMA folks are all staying at 5 star hotels on Maui, $1K to $1.4K per night.

That is all.

The Fort Bend Sheriff’s race did have some unique peccadillos going for it.

I think there are Texans of many stripes who don’t like the idea of family dynasties when it comes to a Sheriff’s Office.

But, gee whiz, a progressive Democrat????

Perhaps Adee can shed light..

I somehow missed the news that CBS is going to show Yellowstone this fall – starting from the beginning.

I can’t imagine that it won’t be butchered up…..to make it acceptable in prime time.

Waiting for Nat to finish – pretty sure things are good and DRY now… I think I have just enough energy left to empty the trays (I think they are all Stir Fry veggies) into a 1/2 gallon glass jar with a couple o2 absorbers, and call it good.  Trying to remember if the last batch all fit into one… Read more »

Fort Bend County is an enormous blob of humanity, now…….which – judging from some recent Democrat gains – isn’t quite sure what it is politically anymore.

Yes, Doood.

If the Democrats burned down the entire state of Hawaii, they would still vote for Democrats.

And the farthest Left ones they could find.

I bought stuff to make more cheesecake, but I think it’s gonna hafta wait until I get this stuff finished up.  I also ordered an ingredient I needed for a lemon caper sauce that I couldn’t find at the store.  It should be here tomorrow, so I can make that sauce to keep on my shelf, too.

Texpat 6:35, Who have the Donkeys got to blame besides other Donkeys in charge of screwing everything up?  🙂   I am sorry for the long-time citizens of these cities having this mess dumped on them.  Hope they clearly see who dun-it and vote accordingly come election time. But at least they all will get a front-row seat to what happens… Read more »

It’s mostly fun stuff for Elsa this time around.  I’m FDing ice cream sandwich bites and scoops of ice cream.  I am also doing my General Tso’s and brown sauce. Hubby will get one jar of ice cream sandwich bites, and I hope I can keep the rest of them safe until I give them away as gifts. I need… Read more »

We had news here on the banks of the Brazos at Richmond.  We had RAIN here midmorning, a whole 2/100ths of it that washed a bit of dust off everything.  Urged kitty Purrscilla to do her happy dance, but it was all over by the time she woke up and looked around.  These days we are grateful for anything with… Read more »

Hawaiians might be painfully liberal, but they’re not stupid. I think “America Last” Biden can kiss Hawaii’s vote goodbye.

I enjoy the writing of Mr. Childers in general, but I have to say, he’s considerably more optimistic than I am.  Blue zoos always seem to find a way to place the blame anywhere but on their own choices.

Shortie seems like the ideal ‘volunteer pup.’

August 22, 2023 4:35 pm

We don’t know much about Shortie’s history. She walked down the driveway last Wednesday, came up the ramp to us sitting on the porch and hasn’t left since – I’d seen her come out of the woods, so don’t know where she came from but it was pretty obvious, she had been camping “solo.” The first night she stayed outside… Read more »

Sarah, my pup, graduated today with flying colors.  This makes me very happy and her too.  She is calmer when we don’t keep her confined to a very small space.  She KNOWS that I don’t like it when she relieves herself in the house and she wants to please me.  She is a very smart doggie.

#33 Bones – you give us hope… Shortie doesn’t normally do anything in the house, except in the middle of the night… Last nite when I had to get up and go, I took her out… and we awoke to nice, dry floors  😉

My mixed breed puppy, born 20March23 stayed home today and not in the laundry room.  No poop, no pee, not even on the pad.  She is a very good girl.
She had free roam of the house except for the bedrooms, all upstairs.

Here is an interesting bit of Texas political trivia for you….

As of the 2020 Census, Texas state representatives represented an average of 194,555 residents. After the 2010 Census, each member represented 168,456 residents.

I’m telling you, it’s time to close the gates. We have enough people in Texas now.
