    Good morning.

    .

    A huge win.

    .

Challengers to the law tried to argue that “the law likely violated the Equal Protection and Due Process Clauses,” but Sutton ruled that “the challengers do not argue that the original fixed meaning of either the due process or equal protection guarantee covers these claims.”

He warned against judicial activism, writing:

That prompts the question whether the people of this country ever agreed to
remove debates of this sort—about the use of new drug treatments on minors—from the conventional place for dealing with new norms, new drugs, and new technologies: the democratic process. Life-tenured federal judges should be wary of removing a vexing and novel topic of medical debate from the ebbs and flows of democracy by construing a largely unamendable federal constitution to occupy the field.

The judge also wrote that the challengers did not have case law in their favor; instead, “they seek to extend the constitutional guarantees to new territory.”

“The burden of establishing an imperative for constitutionalizing new areas of American life is not—and should not be—a light one,” he ruled.

“Tennessee’s interests in applying the law to its residents and in being permitted to protect its children from health risks weigh heavily in favor of the State at this juncture,” he concluded.

Somebody buy that judge a bottle of 20 year old scotch.

Well that’s one we need many more but with activist Judges scattered across the Blue states it’ll be an uphill battle. Let’s hope this nonsense makes it to the Supreme Court where it can be decided for all the states.

GJT, a while back I replaced the starter on my old red Mule, I found a replacement at Db Electrical for about $70 bucks and it works like a champ. That was 2-3 years ago?  OH Wait! I looked up my maintenance records and I replaced the starter in November of 2019?! Dang, time flies. And as a Side-Bar, the Mule had 2995 hours on it then and it now has 3333+ I just happened to notice the Hobbs Meter last Thursday when it was on 3333.8 too bad I didn’t notice it earlier so I could have had all 3’s. Seems that Disney has “Bub Lighted” itself.  Good riddance I say.
Disney World Sees Previously ‘Unfathomable’ Sign of Fans Jumping Ship Over July 4 Holiday

Disney World, which is used to selling out tickets and dealing with large crowds, is now faced with a challenge it hasn’t seen in a while — low attendance.

Disney’s theme parks in the U.S. have faced several issues in recent months, according to travel analysts and advisers.

Due to the low crowds, Disney is scrambling to find ways to attract new customers, including offering hotel discounts around Christmas time this year, which is typically a peak period for the company.

Disney’s Magic Kingdom, the Journal reported, experienced its lowest wait times during Independence Day in years. On Tuesday, the park’s average wait time was 27 minutes, compared to last years wait time of 31 minutes and 47 minutes in 2019.

Touring Plans noted this was the “third-slowest day” in the past year.

“It’s something that nobody would have predicted — just unfathomable,” a computer analyst told the Wall Street Journal.

    Then there’s this;

Since 2021, however, Disney has gone fully “woke,” which some attribute to the decline in visitors.

Disney decided to challenge Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis’ Parental Rights in Education Act, which banned lessons on “sexual orientation or gender identity” for children under 10 years old.

Disney also decided to integrate woke messages in its films, including adding characters representing the LGBT community.

Such a decision, however, has cost the company over $900 million in its past eight films, as reported by the U.K. Daily Mail.

Oh and that thumping noise is Walt Disney spinning in his grave, can you imagine how he’d feel about his once great company? The place he built exclusively for kids.    ~SPITS~

I actually fell asleep before 2:00 a.m., so I was able to drag my ever so ample butt out of bed a little earlier this morning.  My computer has finally finished its morning ablutions, so here I am, coffee in hand, thankful that my back neighbor is up and mowing his mosquito farm.

Chris Salcedo has a better than usual show this morning on KSEV.  Their phone app sucks, btw.  I can’t keep the app functioning on my phone, but I did find a “radio station” app that I can use instead when I want to listen while shopping ‘n stuff.

Anyway, coffee in hand and eyeballs mostly open…

    BEAUTIFUL ☙ Tuesday, July 11, 2023 ☙ C&C NEWS

    Roundup:

It’s Tuesday, and good morning C&C! Today roundup includes: working out is racist; it might be a good time to go to Walt Disney World, as long as you don’t mind a little perverted grooming here and there; DoJ speed-indicts Biden Bribery whistleblower on ultra-ironic process crime; CDC data evidences remdesivir claims; Peru’s new Guillain-Barré outbreak; breaking news on the January 6th fedsurrection; Netherlands nominates top beauty queen, I mean king, I mean queen, or whatever; top journalist piles on UFO story; and an amusing de-de-bunking clip to get your day headed in the right direction.

    News:

First up: in the fevered minds of the left, working out is racist.  They actually tied it to Hitler.  As Mr. C., notes, Jane Fonda is all verklempt over this revelation.

Next: Disney story, as discussed above.  It seems “go woke, go broke” is actually true.

Next:  Salcedo reported this story this morning.  Gal Luft has been arrested.  He’s the whistleblower on the Biden administrations traitorous shenanigans, then had to go into hiding because he was being hunted.  The DOJ had had their hounds after him because they want him for a process crime.  Supposedly, he was acting as an agent for another country without paperwork filings, so this is cause for them to toss him into jail so he can’t be heard.  Of course, Gal has already sent out a 14 minute testimony.

    https://youtu.be/J-9a5L_MyKM

Gal Luft, uploaded a viral 12-minute video claiming he was being “hunted” because he was prepared to testify before Congress that Joe Biden is a dirty, rotten traitor and bribe taker who has sold the U.S. out to the Chinese.

    https://twitter.com/bennyjohnson/status/1678528304616226816

Luft explained in his video that a couple months ago he met with no fewer than six DoJ and FBI officials to tell what he knew about the Biden family crime spree. They didn’t arrest Dr. Luft then. The investigation must have started after that.

On the other hand, Hunter’s FARA investigation took five+ years and resulting in nothing, even though the DoJ had a laptop full of his emails and texts with Chinese and Ukrainian crooks. On the other hand, Luft’s FARA investigation only took five minutes. With no laptops.

He is, of course, on the Arkancide list, and he knows it.  I’m sure he’s dropped dead-man bombs all over the place.  Also of note: Hunter Biden is not being hotly pursued for these same charges.  Go figger.

Anyway, until Trump, FARA was known as a joke of an ancient law, originally passed after World War I. Nowadays, everybody violated it, and nobody was ever prosecuted. It was just business as usual. But then Special Counsel Robert Mueller dusted the 1938 law off and weaponized it against the entire Trump political organization.

    According to Professor Turley:

So, FARA has become the tool by which reputations are ruined and the DOJ gets their camel nose into your tent.  Or Luft’s tent, anyway.  But Hunter’s tent remains un-cameled.

Four legs good, two legs BETTER!

    There is a little hope:
In the latest update on this breaking story, Senator Ron Johnson has now called for Dr. Luft to be granted full immunity, so he can testify before Congress about the Biden Bribery case.

On the WLR front:  Times of India is reporting a rise in Guillain-Barré Syndrome.  This is a neurological disorder, which we know is a specialty of spike proteins.  The government is declaring a state of emergency for 90 days in order to study this phenomenon.

G-B killed Justin Bieber’s career.  Mr. C. reports that most of Bieber’s formerly published self-report doesn’t seem to be published any more.  Shades of “1984”.  He did find one: https://twitter.com/EricArchambaul7/status/1535615141005385728

As usual, I’m sure all the experts are baffled.  I wonder – there was one province in India where they pushed HCQ instead of the jab.  Have the experts looked to see if there is a rise in G-B there?  Inquiring minds want to know.

Finally – movement on the Ray Epps & Jan 6 front:

Revolver News, which has been at the forefront of relentlessly tracking the stomach-turning Ray Epps story, released a blockbuster report yesterday headlined “Meet Ray Epps, Part 2: Damning New Details Emerge Exposing Massive Web of Unindicted Operators at the Heart of January 6”.

Revolver has traced Ray’s movements using thousands of hours of independent video clips, and finally identified a much larger group with which it sure looks like Ray was working on that fateful day.

Below is an unknown, bullhorn-equipped person who was coordinating crowd movements and encouraging people to press on to the Capitol from the top of a strategically-placed scaffold, dubbed “the Scaffold Commander:” [insert picture here]

Next is another unidentified man, labeled “Fence Cutter Bulwark,” who methodically removed fencing and “Area Closed” signs preventing access to the Capitol — more than 17 minutes before Trump’s speech ended, right before the crowds arrived. In other words, he couldn’t have known the crowds were coming, unless he knew. Somehow.

Or maybe he just hates fences.

Like Epps, neither Scaffold Commander nor Fence Cutter Bulwark have ever appeared on the FBI’s “J6 wanted” list. Maybe it’s because they aren’t grandmothers or teenagers.

There are more co-conspirators. The Revolver article, which goes into great detail on five standout suspects who had contact with Epps during the protest, is too long and detailed to summarize, but if you’re interested in what caused January 6th, read the whole thing.

The original article began with a story of a young man who took a one-year-long training course at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College to become a power lineman. Upon completion, he is set to make about $105,000 a year, and $165,000, not including overtime, as a journeyman in 3-4 years. In the same amount of time, a graduate of Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in political science will earn a median income of $75,500; a graduate of UC Berkeley with a sociology degree earns about $64,000; a UCLA graduate in history will make about $47,900.

    but, Oh No !…

By contrast, political science majors at UC San Diego earn less than $56,000 a year; a business administration major at the private Vanguard University of Southern California earns a little over $55,000; a similar degree at a community college earns just $40,000. Fine Arts earn the least amount of money, less than $30,000 annually, the report found.

Leftist tear-stained letters to the editor…

“This article, however, reinforces the desperate attempt by the political right to further dumb down America. Banning books, propaganda masquerading as news, and the ongoing damage done by social media are targeted at curtailing education and enlightenment.”

Sales of Michelob Ultra fell by 4.3 percent in the week that ended July 1 compared with last year, and Busch Light was down 8.5 percent, the New York Post reportedBoth brands are, like Bud Light, owned by the Anheuser-Busch brewing company.

“Budweiser trends have been slipping for a very long time, but it’s the Michelob Ultra negative numbers and now Busch Light negative trends that are most alarming to me,” Bump Williams, whose consulting firm ran the numbers from NielsenIQ data, told the Post. “They were very healthy prior to April 1.”

Sales of Bud Light the week prior, ending on June 24, were 27.9 percent lower than during the same period last year. The brand’s troubling numbers came despite Bud Light giving out rebates for free beer ahead of Independence Day weekend.

When the trouble began and that slow, awkward decline.

    December 9, 2014

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – AB InBev is moving its marketing operations from its headquarters in St. Louis to New York.

In a memo to employees, and later a press release to the media, AB InBev announced it is establishing a sales and marketing hub in New York called the U.S. Commercial Strategy Office, and moving sales and marketing executives from St. Louis to staff it.

From a strategic point of view, analysts say it makes sense because New York is the center of the advertising world, home to major sports leagues and the entertainment industry.

The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports the company`s new marketing office is expected to have 250 employees, though the company is not saying publically how many of them will be transferring from St. Louis.

Like this from The Sun Also Rises

“How did you go bankrupt?” Bill asked.

“Two ways,” Mike said. “Gradually and then suddenly.”

    “What brought it on?”

“Friends,” said Mike. “I had a lot of friends. False friends. Then I had creditors, too. Probably had more creditors than anybody in England.”

All those cool kids in A-B marketing hanging out with all the hipsters in NYC (false friends) telling them how cutting edge and truly progressive they would be if they hired a tranny to promote their beer on national TV.  Now it is billions of lost dollars later.

If they had stayed in Missouri and danced with the ones that brung ’em, this probably never would’ve happened.

  22. Tedtam Avatar

Found a handful of green beans this morning.  One of ’em almost got away, hidden behind some leaves.  I have some puny little cantaloupe that I guess I’m going to have to pick tomorrow.  They are failing to thrive and are probably taking all of the vine’s attention.  Next year – one plant per tote.  I have some tomatoes ripening, but they are showing signs of sucking insect damage, so we’ll see.  I’ve only seen a few of those, but it doesn’t take much…

I probably need to harvest my herbs.  I’ve been slacking off on that this year.  My stevia is doing quite well, so I need to harvest that one and plan to repot it next season.  With the surgery, I didn’t have time to do it when I should have.  Peppers, tomatoes, cukes – all are struggling with this heat.  The only items doing well to moderately well are my ginger, stevia, and green beans.  My struggling but producing plants are the tomatoes and cucumbers.  The okra, tiny as they are (planted late) are flowering finally.  Two of my three comfrey seedlings have died, and I’m nursing the third one along until the roots get deep enough that it’ll be impossible to kill.

I’m not putting any new seeds in until this heat breaks.

I pulled some of my little onions today.  Since I let them go to seed, I didn’t expect big bulbs.  I plan on spreading seeds in each tote next year.

On the freeze drying front, I sliced up some avocado for the freezer this morning.  Hubby’s face lit up like Christmas when I told him I wanted to make some powder for the shelf.  He asked me to hold one back for his breakfast. I chuckled and told him I’d be buying more and that some of them in the bag weren’t ripe yet, so hold your horses!  I can get them for a “reasonable” price by the bag at Aldi, where I’ll be shopping later.  I’m going to freeze the slices and when I get enough, make an Elsa run.  It’ll be nice to have some avocado powder to make guacamole any time I want.

“Phil at 4800 Feet” had a video last night where he showed different ways to process tomatoes: soup, sauce, salsa, and chips.  The salsa blew up on him (expanded in the tray), so lesson learned is be sure to not overfill a tray with salsa. I’m sure it was a mess cleaning up the shelves after.  But he used the sauce to make a bloody Mary in a Mason jar.  I’d just keep the powder for recipes, but that’s just me.  The tomato chips are interesting.  He said he really liked them, but they do start absorbing moisture from the air, so they’d need to be dried again to retain their crispness.  I could do that in Fred, but chips don’t turn out as “crunchy” as I think they would in Elsa.  But Fred could re-crisp them nicely, I think.

But, I don’t have that many tomatoes…darn it.  Dang garden is slacking off.

I need to come up with an idea for attaching a “railing” around the surface edge….that doesn’t look like crap.

I had to run over to Home Depot and buy a 48″ oak stair tread to make a stable, safe base for the 55″ Samsung I bought Her Highness for her 70th birthday.  The feet were about half an inch or less from the edges of my big oak lateral file cabinet and I was not going to risk this expensive piece of equipment crashing to the floor.

    WARNING:

    1. I bought a nice Samsung wall mount microwave oven/vent hood a few years ago.  I have yet to figure out how to adjust the power settings.  Manual instructions, online troubleshooting and conversations with useless customer support people have never solved the problem.  It works fine and does a good job as long as I want to cook anything on HIGH.

    2. I bought this Samsung 55″ smart TV in November of 2020.  She and I still struggle with these ridiculous confusing, anti-user friendly multiple online menus.  The picture is spectacular and we enjoy it, but trying to navigate the damn thing takes a lot of the joy out of it.

I’ll never buy a Samsung product again.

Hubby and I just finished a discussion on future home improvement/finishing projects.  He told me that when they finish laying the tile upstairs, he and Handyman are going to build my wall and new Elsa space so I can run Elsa hopefully without blowing the house a/c through the open door with a fan to keep the room cool enough while she’s drying the food.

One of the things that made me fall in love with him is his mechanical ability.  That man can work in wood and metal, and likes to make stuff.  I’ve always admired that ability in him.

We had a similar problem with our replacement TV when our old one burned out.  I found some longer pieces of wood on which to place the TV, on top of our “center”.  At least until Hubby and Handyman could build a new stand.

Ditto Texpat. I had the same situation previously where the TV feet were wider than the table it was to sit on. I cut a piece of 1×6 to length and stained it.

On Sunday my lovely Mrs. asked me to build a 16 x 19 x 5 inch platform for her printer that goes under her desk at the office.  Fortunately, I had a 15 1/4″ piece of 3/4″ plywood scrap and a scrap of 2 x 6.  It took me about 30 minutes to put it together and sand it smooth.  She was happy.

    Super Dave has been upgraded.

His #5 actually landed in the Pending file instead of the Trash.

Dang I’m coming up in the world. 😀

I thought Shannon was early but he was just up late.

He was still up trying to figure out how to change the channel on his new TV.

HA! I know the feeling all electron-I-cal stuff now needs a manual.

I’m calling it a day. I got out about 8 (yes I know late, I blame the Dawg) and spent all day trimming limbs and such around this house. Last week I worked the pecan trees at the farmhouse. Today I did something I seldom do, I used my 20′ extension ladder and that’s not as much fun as standing on top of the Mule, not as steady either. But I got a lot done on a job I always put off. Off to the shower.

Last week; Remember boys N girls don’t try this at home.     😉

BTW; Holding a Stihl Farm Boss at arms length isn’t as easy as it looks.

You can get a nice piece of 3/8” plywood that’s a little deeper than your entertainment complex and clamp/screw/nail/glue/bolt/trust gravity to attach it to the entertainment complex, then lovingly place the TV upon it.

You could also get some metal strapping, loop it over the TV’s feets and attach that to your entertainment complex.

Or just epoxy that ba$tard to the entertainment complex.

The feet on this teevee have a 11 3/4”spread. A stair tread ain’t gonna work. Even a 2×12 wouldn’t work.

I think I’ll stick with the edge rail on the existing surface. Some kind of moulding will work. It can’t be any wider than an inch, though.

I’m really going to miss my Mute button.

    And my Closed Caption button.

    And my Display button.

I’ve been married 35 years, that was the last time I saw a mute button.

    Closed captioning would be helpful.

Never knew about a display button, that I could control anyhow.

    Mute button:
Sometimes I receive calls that I have to take. When you get old it’s hard to leave the television on and listen to a caller at the same time.

When you live with a half-deaf person, closed captioning is a fact of life. And sometimes the audio is so bad (especially on older movies) that it’s nice to have the captions.

On some TVs the Display button will bring up a description/synopsis of the program or movie that you are watching.

    Just saying.

I’m still trying to find out how to turn off the captions.

And I was so excited to figure out how to turn them on…two hours ago.

I found it. Five menus later. With the help of some Indian guy on YouTube.

    I miss my CC button.

So how do you accomplish those functions or are they nonexistent? I heard someone say there was an on-screen menu so that takes the place of the buttons? Sounds like progress to me. Oh wait New and Improved, that’s it. New and Improved is never ever as good as old and regular.

Since I’m 4 thirds deaf I use CC and my wife like it because the audio quality in moves is awful and of course they have the audio going 154 Db while the actors are whispering.

FWIW; I’ve mentioned it before but my wife’s hearing is unbelievable and I know, I’ve seen her audiogram chart.

This guy’s YT channel popped up in my feed lately.  He’s been focusing on the movie “Sound of Freedom” and the media and societal reactions to it.  The last one that I watched reported that some theaters were sabotaging showings by claiming the air conditioning wasn’t working “in that theater” and voluntarily refunding (without a request) for the showing.  He asked for confirmation.

In this video, he says he’s going to cover those bad behaviors.  And others.

I’m still watching it.  There is a global demand for this movie, and TPTB don’t want it to be seen.

    Go figger.

  60. Tedtam Avatar

BTW – I bought some “pay it forward” tickets for the movie.

I think my TV is 54″ and it wasn’t nearly the biggest one they had when I bought it several years ago and I still think that is huge. The wife’s TV is bigger and smarter which means it won’t let you do what you want with the damn thing.

  62. Tedtam Avatar

I leave CC on our TV, even with Hubby’s use of his “TV ears”.

His hearing sucks, especially trying to listen to the TV.

  63. Tedtam Avatar

“Sound of Freedom” is busting loose.  And then there’s this:

I’m waiting for that moral cesspool to burst into righteous flames any moment.

Digging through several menus -instead of having a button at your fingertip – is not progress.

Especially if you need to quickly Mute the volume to answer a call.

Or to take any other action quickly.

Watter’s interviewed the maker of Sound of Freedom and they talked about the Lamestream Media condemning it. I guess if they acknowledge the human/sex trafficking they’d have to admit the border is a disaster. Yanno’ there is a special place in hell for folks like them.

I wonder if you can get a generic remote and sync it to your TV.  The generic one would probably have those buttons.

But you gotta get through those damn codes first.

I use CC often for the reasons mentioned, it’s distracting to my wife so I only use it when I’m watching solo. Netflix, Prime and DirecTV have different ways to turn it off/on. My main TV is a smart Roku, the mute is below the volume button. Yes it comes in handy if either of us gets a phone call or we need to discuss something.

In January 2022, for example, Warner Music Group, via its Warner Chappell Musicsubsidiary, acquired the global music publishing rights to David Bowie’s song catalog for more than $250 million.

In December 2021, Bruce Springsteen sold both his masters, and publishing rights to Sony Music Group in a deal worth $550 million-plus.

Now, a 10% stake in the music of iconic British rock band Led Zeppelin is up for sale

That stake is being sold by Helen Grant, the daughter of the band’s former manager, Peter Grant. The news was first reported by The Times on Monday (July 10), in an interview with Helen Grant.

MBW understands that amongst the companies who approached Helen Grant for a deal prior to going public with the sale was Irving Azoff’s Iconic Artists Group, and that a number of other players have since made offers.

Is Dr. Phil Good one of those other players ?  Rumors are rampant these days.
