NEW YORK—In a bold move to protect the lungs of New Yorkers, Mayor Eric Adams has announced a groundbreaking ban on the infamous Canadian wildfire smoke that has been wafting its way into the city. Concerned about the potential health risks posed by the foreign fumes, Mayor Adams is taking decisive action to create a smoke-free environment for all residents.
Addressing the press at City Hall, Mayor Adams declared, “Enough is enough! We cannot let our beloved city be engulfed in smoke from across the border. We have a duty to protect the lungs and air quality of New Yorkers. Starting today, we are banning all Canadian wildfire smoke from entering our city limits!”
The announcement came as a surprise to many, with some questioning the mayor’s authority to control the direction of the wind and the behavior of wildfires in a neighboring country. Nevertheless, Mayor Adams remained resolute in his determination to create a smoke-free oasis within the bustling metropolis.
The ban will be enforced by a crack team of air quality inspectors stationed at various entry points into the city. Equipped with giant fans and oversized fly swatters, these vigilant officers will stand guard, ready to intercept any rogue plumes of Canadian wildfire smoke attempting to infiltrate New York City.

On the road, baby.

Be safe out there Shannon and watch for the State Troopers.
Well it’s Friday and the last full day here at the beach but it has been a great trip. Last night we went over to Pineapple Willy’s and the food was really good as usual. I had the Blackened Mahi Mahi with Mango Pineapple Salsa, corn on the cob, fries and coleslaw. The wife of course had the big seafood platter and she also got peel-um and eat-um Cajun boiled shrimp. I didn’t really want an appetizer but I did eat a few of her shrimp and man they were good, big 27 count size shrimp. I think I could have made a meal out of them with a couple of sides.

It feels so weird, not having the constant “bookkeeping warning” in my head. Yeah, I still have stuff to do, but it shouldn’t have that “urgent” feel to it. Hubby said he has a wad of receipts for me to enter. He waits until he has a big bunch of them for me; maybe now I have the time to break him of that habit.
I’m about 70% packed for the trip. I had to wash some clothes last night, and I’ll be packing some kitchen items later today. The condos don’t usually have immersion blenders, so I’ll be packing mine. Kitchen spices that I’ll want to use on the trip. My languishing crochet project. The weather is, as I’ve been told, 40’s at night and almost 70 during the day. That means I have to pack some long sleeves as well as shorts. I tend to overpack, so I’ll be reviewing my items and trying to cull some pieces.
I have to go meet Hubby for breakfast soon, then we shop for tile for the upstairs bath. It’s exciting to finally be finishing up the upstairs. We’re talking aobut where to put my as-yet unnamed freeze dryer.

Condo ? Hmmm.
I must have missed where you are going. I thought you were going to Denton.
-
As usual I’m NOT keeping up so Tedtam where ya’ going?
Edited; Texpat didn’t know either. 😀

Tedtam – when you consider where to locate “anonymous” freeze dryer, remember that it is not as silent as “Fred”… Not loud but definitely NOT silent… When the pump turns on to pull the vacuum, it’s prolly the loudest – and sounds kinda like a little vacuum cleaner… And it needs a lot of ventilation – we have a fan almost right on the left side (as you face it), another on the right side facing away, and leave the ceiling fan on low to move the air around. Since we’ve started using this configuration, we’ve not gotten the “excessive temp – batch will take extra time” warning… Mind you, “he” lives in Mom’s old bedroom, about as far from our living area as possible, and I can still hear it in the living room – not overly loud but definitely audible…
-
We’re going to Angelfire, NM. I’ll meet them in Denton and we’ll drive from there.
Bsue, we were discussing placement this morning over breakfast. The noise was definitely part of that conversation. I copied your info and sent it to Hubby.

Who is the “we” going to Angelfire? I must have missed something, this doesn’t ring any bells… But hope you enjoy the trip!
-
I’m going with LD and family.
-
Arrived at 10:15. Took a long break in Garrison, or we’d have been here at exactly 10 am.
6 hours total travel time.
Marshall is a nice looking town, where it starts getting hilly.
-
Say, y’all are mentioning trips as though the rest of us know all about ’em… Please assume I have no info on what your trip is all about, and provide at least a clue or two…
-
I’ve been taking about mine for a few days…
-
Tedtam – VERY important information about using the freeze dryer for anything greasy (like our pre-cooked, washed, and frozen breakfast sausages…) Make sure and line your trays with parchment paper (cut to size to line the bottom) AND place another the same size over the meats… Don’t ask me how I learned this lesson – just take my word for it – it was also a tip from RetiredAt40’s site, which I didn’t think I needed to do… until I DID…
-
I was wondering if it’d be worth buying those precut sheets….guess I’ll be doing that.

CLOUD CUCKOO LAND ☙ Friday, June 9, 2023 ☙ C&C NEWS
Roundup:
Good morning, C&C, it’s Friday! Your explosive Friday edition focuses on three historic, never-seen-before developments: The democrats’ world war against Trump moves into V-E Day territory with second criminal indictment in three months — but is it a distraction?; Biden’s Burisma Bribe story gains more legs after leak, but if a story falls in the news forest and no one is there to hear it, did a story even happen?; and the Cat Lawyer faces stiff competition from the laziest lawyer in the world.
News:
The New York Times threw a virtual carnival, a massive celebratory orgy of delight in its offices yesterday, wherein what seems like every single staff reporter and every loosely-affiliated stringer participated in piling on story after story about one single event, with no details. In fact, the entire Times website is right now 100% about this story, until you scroll down many column inches. It looks like how the website probably looked on V-E Day, the day Germany’s unconditional surrender was declared after World War II.
I wasn’t going to put that last paragraph up, but then I thought about the absolute joy the left takes in the destruction of a human being that they have labeled an “enemy,” and I changed my mind.
No President, former President, or Presidential candidate has ever even been arrested, period. It’s never happened. Never mind being arrested TWICE in two completely unrelated criminal prosecutions. And twice in three months in two unrelated cases. That’s bonkers….
Not only that, but they indicted Trump under the Espionage Act, a controversial 1917 law which has never been used against any high-level official before. It was passed two months after the US entered World War I, at a time of social panic over espionage and disinformation. So, this case is historic first piled on historic first, built up into a stratospheric tower of implausibility.
We are so far into uncharted territory at this point that…it’s starting to make me believe in the Flat Earth theory, with all those new, undiscovered continents lying far beyond the antarctic ice wall.
But following precedent has never stopped this crowd. IMHO, they believe they are so close to achieving their dream of authoritarian guardianship of every soul in the US – and however many they can ship in – that they are pushing harder and faster to make it happen. These events seem to be spiraling out of control, with no slowing down in sight.
Speaking of shipping in souls, will those souls stay when their American dream turns into another version of “back home”?
Every legit Republican elected official is sitting in the same sinking boat with Trump. If democrats can do this to Trump, they can do it to anybody. If it isn’t stopped in its tracks this time, right now, then Republicans are destined to become a footnote of history, since from now on they’ll have to fake being an opposition party, rolling over whenever democrats poke them, out of fear of being Trumped.
On the very same day the New York Times celebrated Trump’s indictment ….the New York Times buried the Joe Biden bribe story under the chicken coop, which is a story that is 1,000 times more explosive and newsworthy than the story about the latest trumped-up Trump persecution.
Friends, the democrats have built themselves an edifice of injustice rivaling the Biblical Tower of Babel. They think they’re gods. Merrick Garland thinks he can throw down lightning bolts of selective justice like Zeus’ elderly grandmother. This new indictment will — I believe — be one lawless brick too high. I think it will be the brick that breaks the back of America’s patience.
We can hope.

Childers goes on about the Biden illegalities:
In a statement following the leak, House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer said it’s not just the Burisma thing, and not just Ukraine, either. Joe shook down other Eastern European countries. Comer said:
This is a very serious accusation. This accusation fits a pattern that we uncovered especially in Romania, where then vice-president Biden visits the country, talks about foreign policy and foreign aid, and then two weeks later his family starts getting bank wires from foreign nationals in this country, to the different Biden family members.
We also want to know what exactly the FBI did to investigate this very serious allegation.
/snip
Instead, the Trump indictment story blasted nearly all the news about the Biden bribe investigation into digital oblivion, and for sure it virtually guaranteed that ordinary democrats will never hear about the Biden Bribe document, since they are too consumed with ecstatic joy over the happy news of another Trump arrest, …
I’ll leave you with this thought: there is NO WAY that Joe Biden could have gotten away with this kind of racket for this long, unless there were a LOT of other people involved. First of all, that old ice-cream-licker is just not smart enough, even before he got dementia. Second, Biden has obviously been incredibly reckless. Third, plenty of people close to Biden must necessarily have seen all the signs, over and over. None of them said anything.
It seems much more likely that a lot of folks in government were getting paid, than that Biden ran the racket alone.
Very good point, there.

Just a friendly reminder of how smart the Texas Cornhole really is.
This morning, I had a very good conversation with Judge Merrick Garland, who President Biden has nominated for Attorney General.”
“Judge Garland’s extensive legal experience makes him well-suited to lead the Department of Justice, and I appreciated his commitment to keep politics out of the Justice Department. That is my number one criterion for who should be the next Head of the Department of Justice as Attorney General.”

#18 Tedtam – I’d thought the same thing… and thought “Nah… I have parchment paper” but Im seriously reconsidering!!!! (Also IF you do sausage – in addition to cleaning the inside of the “barrel” you gotta remember to pour HOT water down thru the drain hole to the hose – into a bucket to toss outside…). Currently, Nat is pre-rolling for more hashbrown potatoes – since I have them and they are already FROZE!!!! And we like them a LOT…. both in loose form (which could be turning into mash, I suppose) and patties that are pre-browned and hold together really well…
And Squawk noticed the “system name” and duly inserted “Nat King Cold!!!”
-
#24 – I’ll have to do that, too, when I get a name!
Thanks for the info. I told Hubby I was excited about making cheesecake snack bites. He’s still trying to understand how the whole freeze drying thing works…
-
Bsue – did you see R.A.40’s video on using the system test selections to vacuum seal multiple jars? You can “test” the vacuum system by itself with jars in the chamber. He got a heckuva seal on 9 jars at one time.
-
Tedtam – tell him it’s simple… super froze then suddenly warmed – the water turns from a solid to a gas thru “sublimation” – I think RoseRed Homestead even has a video explaining it 😉
-
I’ve tried to explain it, several times. I think he won’t get what “freeze dried” means until he sees it.
-
Just for the record and without further details, I am on two treatment programs – one involving an injection every two weeks and another every 12 weeks now. It so happened the calendar fell with one injection on Wednesday and the other, stronger one on Thursday.
I never should have taken them so close together and should have notified the doctors, neither of which was aware.
Anyway, I have been bedridden with nausea for over 24 hours now.
-
Oh, Texpat – so sorry! Hope things get better for you. Like yesterday.
-
Tom Fitton tweeted this:
I’ve carefully reviewed the indictment of Trump by his political opponents at the Biden Justice Department.
has nearly 30 years of experience litigating federal and presidential records issues, including the famous “Clinton sock drawer” case.) The document dishonestly ignores the U.S. Constitution, the Presidential Records Act, legal precedent, and the DOJ’s/Archives’ previous position that WH records a president takes with him when he leaves the White House are presumptively personal and not subject to review by partisan Biden appointees at DOJ or Archives. Under the Constitution, federal law and precedent, none of the documents are currently “classified” or “national defense information” that restricts Trump’s handing of them. They are ALL his personal records and, frankly, should be returned to him. If justice prevails, this indictment won’t survive scrutiny by honest, constitutionalist judges and will be thrown out.

Tedtam
Thank you for all the forward posting you did for next week.
-
Texpat, sorry to learn of your maladies. Get weller sooner.
-
Heads up, guys. Moderators have email from me.
-
Sorry to have gone silent mid-word… Our internet went south and just now came back up…
-
Texpat,
I sympathize with you and your upset stomach. Nasty stuff when something assaults the tummy with ice skates: figure skates and hockey skates together.
-
Texpat, hope you recover quickly, and that never happens to you again. How dreadful to be taking medicines that clash and make you feel worse.

It’s a beautiful evening here in Texarkana. We’ve done a little exploring, seeking sustenance for an early lunch. The parts of the city we have seen are really nice. Reminds me of Kansas City….so clean.
Ate Mexican, had the finest Margarita I’ve ever had.
Came back to the Hampton Inn and crashed for 5 hours.

A few days ago we had an article stating that the Canadian Province of Alberta would like to join the US as the 51st state. Socialist Ontario and the other eastern provinces now have little in common with the western provinces that are much more like our mid-west and western states. Maybe we could trade our socialist NE States for the Canadian Western Provinces. 🙂

Well PC Beach June 2023 is now history. Wife headed out about 5 PM and I’ll load up and head home in the morning. After we loaded up the Tahoe my wife took a selfie of us by the gate to the beach.
-
It’s official. I’m jealous of SuperDave. That beach looks delicious.
And then I remember the story that broke a day or so past, of a guy getting eaten by a shark in front of his father, girlfriend, and the whole beach. This was in Egypt, the guy was Russian. There’s gotta be a political motive in there somewhere….
-
Sneaked into Arkansas and quickly returned.
Checked myself for fleas.
All clear. Back in the great state of Texas.
-
It’s official. I’m jealous of SuperDave. That beach looks delicious.
Me too.
I’ve been trying to get back to the coast for at least three years.
-
Certainly, this is the first time I ever heard of sharks in Egypt.
