Went to HEB pretty early today – scored 4 packages of thin sliced raw chicken breast reduced 25% (already “on special”) and loaded “Nat” up when I got home. This is my first time starting with a load of meat that wasn’t frozen when I put it in, so we’ll see how long it takes to get to the drying phase (even with them being pre-frozen, most of my loads have gone thru a 4-5 hour freezing cycle before the freeze drying begins. Also got packages of frozen shoe-string potatoes, stir-fry veggies, and broccoli/cauliflower mix for the next couple of loads. So now I can relax with crossword puzzle, and the Astros LOL

Dang, GJT slipped one past the goal post while I was typing. About the Huff Po piece, Dustin J Seibert doesn’t have a clue, what an IDIOT, he doesn’t understand anything that is going on in the country.
These quotes stood out; Imagine Donald Trump, but with brains and savvy. As if a self-made billionaire doesn’t have brains and savvy.
And this one; To me, Trump has always been, at his core, an avowed iconoclast and solipsistic opportunist who probably decided on a lark that he’d run for the U.S. presidency and managed to sweep his competitors on an anti-establishment platform. The reason trump ran was because he loved this county and didn’t like the fact that the Deep State was set about to destroy it.
This one is my favorite; Trump had the hubris and gall of a man who had no intention of adhering to the conventions of the White House, and he had (and still has) the benefit of unwavering support from a bunch of mouth-breathers frustrated with eight years of a Black man in the office. These people were aimless, looking for someone to follow off the edge of the flat earth. Trump was their man. This always pizzes me off, that is, if you don’t like Obama’s destructive policies well it’s because you’re a racist

My wife finally got a room yesterday after over twenty four hours in a holding pattern in ER. But it was worth the wait as she got a dang suite! This room has has a separate sitting area with a couch and a table breakfast type table with a couple chairs and a bar with sink! I do not know why it is there, obviously it is not held for rich folk or big families as we poor and so far it’s just been me and her.

May 19 (UPI) — The world’s largest steam-powered locomotive is hitting the rails and will be featured prominently at baseball’s College World Series taking place next month in Omaha, Neb.
Union Pacific’s Big Boy locomotive 4014 will leave Cheyenne, Wyo., June 7 on its Home Run Express Tour, which wraps up in Omaha, where the company is headquartered.
The engine will stop at five destinations along the way.
It will then spend 11 days on display during the college baseball championship tournament, parked outside the city’s Charles Schwab Field between June 15 and 25.

Reminded me of why I stopped shopping at Target several years ago. It used to be one of my favorite stores because they had some casual clothing lines that I really liked. But when they announced that males could use the females’ bathrooms there, I was bummed out. My last trip to the local Target had me going in the store and seeing the big door into what had been the women’s restroom was chained wide open. -

This is a very sad notice I have to make.
RIP Katfish.
David Russell aka Katfish was riding in a Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) public ride today in the Harris County area and had a fatal accident. David did not survive and was apparently declared dead at the scene.
He was a dear and loyal friend of our family since childhood and Shannon’s lifelong best friend. We have known David for nearly 60 years and he will be deeply missed on this site and many other places.
I don’t have any other details at the moment and this is just an initial notice. We will publish further details as they become known.

Good Afternoon Hamsters,
The promised weak front rolled in and left us with lower temps and lower humidity for a time, but that wonderful gift is already sliding away. Our overnight low was 71 with a humidity in the mid 50s. It was actually pleasant out fetching the Chron, which arrived on time today. And Canada, keep that door open a little longer, please.
Spouse and I went on safari to Fort Bend County’s lovely shopping center in Sugar Land, as I was looking for a lightweight quilt for summer duty on our bed while the winter duty quilt goes to the cleaners and then for a rest in the closet until needed sometime late in fall. We hadn’t been over that way for years, and yesterday noted how large the trees were now. When the center started out lo these many years ago those trees were mostly young and propped up to keep them from falling over in high winds. Now they are a canopy over the area where the large department stores sit.
Some businesses surely had come and gone since our last visit, guessing that having been 10 or so years ago. JC Penney was the place we found the right quilt, and amazingly I had recalled that the linens were on the second floor so we went straight there. The store looked to be very much laid out as it had been years ago, only the merchandise had changed with the times.

What an awful shock that Katfish has passed away. What a wonderful man he was. Prayers for him.
I first met him when he picked up a donation for the bikers charity some years ago. That was when we were staying in a hotel on I-10 west after Harvey had put 2″ of water in our house, and we had to stay out of it for 3 weeks. And I had visited with him at a Fort Bend County Tea Party event.

Katfish was one of a kind. There was no doubt about it. David lived his own life in his own way and never looked back.
He will be missed.
