Thursday Wildflowers Open Comments

Thought I’d share some of my wildflower pictures with y’all.

These pictures don’t even come close to doing them justice.  The purdy was almost too much at times.  I find the symmetry of the thistle beautiful, and I missed a blooming thistle by about a day.  They can have spectacularly beautiful flowers.  I was surprised to find an albino bluebonnet – can you find it?

My friend and I were in thrall over the many fields of bluebonnets – a sea of blue as far as we could see.  The sign on the gate expressed our emotions perfectly:  “Heavenly Acres – Owner: God – Caretaker: (family name)”.

Nice pictures every spring my wife and I say we need to make a Texas Wildflower run but it hasn’t happened yet. And that reminds me, March 21, 2019 was my last day at the Rocket Ranch, 4 years ago! I can’t believe it’s already been 4 years, where has the time gone?

We haven’t been out on the road to see any wildflowers this year. We head out to Corpus Christi tomorrow for a race, maybe we will catch some.

Morning gang.  I’m off early to Marble Falls this morning.  My scouts have reported numerous bluebonnets and other wild flowers along Hi-way 16 between here and Llano as well as 71 from Llano to MF.  So I should have a peaceful and enjoyable ride today.  You all have a good day now.  More later when I get back.

Country Artist Goes on Expletive-Filled Rant After Revealing Who She Introduced Son To: ‘Arrest Me’

Virtue signaling, B-list country singer Maren Morris leapt into the news cycle this week by proudly saying she has taken her 2-year-old son to see drag queens and demanded that the state of Tennessee “arrest” her for doing so.

During Monday’s “Love Rising” benefit event for gay causes, the Texas-born singer, who lives in Nashville, was reacting to a recent law passed in Tennessee that bans children from attending sexualized drag shows in the Volunteer State.

Morris, who has had three number-one Country Airplay chart hits since 2016, was indignant after Tennessee’s Republican Gov. Bill Lee signed a law early this month that designates drag shows as “adult cabaret entertainment,” and bans children from being allowed to attend.

The law, which goes into effect on April 1, features a misdemeanor penalty for those who violate the ban on a first offense and up to six years in jail for subsequent offenses, which are branded felonies, according to NBC News.

“The bill gives confidence to parents that they can take their kids to a public or private show and will not be blindsided by a sexualized performance,” bill sponsor Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson wrote of the legislation.

But Morris, a big supporter of transgenderism and who is a loud-and-proud LGBT advocate, recently told the audience at the pro-gay concert that she is proud of exposing her tiny tot to drag queens.

“And yes, I introduced my son to some drag queens today, so Tennessee, f—ing arrest me,” Morris reportedly said on stage Monday, according to Variety.

I guess the good news is that nobody has heard of her.   ~SIGH~

If you haven’t been following the story, after years of administrative and court cases, the Texas Education Agency finally took over the Houston Independent School District for poor performance.

A group of TEA-hired managers will soon take over from the School Board the operation of the District.

Two of four public meetings have been held, so far, to provide information on process. Both have been raucous events with a lot of loud disruptions of the meetings. The press is having a field day hyping the loud disruptions.

But if you look closely, these meetings are not very well attended. Could it be that HISD parents are relieved that someone is actually trying to correct this decades-old travesty of poor performance?

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the Colt 45 Peacemaker.

I just read an article about Serial #1 being found, wrapped in oilcloth, in a Hashua New Hampshire farmhouse in 1925. It was purchased for $4 and after changing hands a few times was sold at auction for $862,500 in January 2009! It’s now in a private collection.

I took a quick tour of my garden this morning, collected some wild onion scapes for breakfast, and came back inside.  It feels quite moist out there this morning, so I may make errands run this morning.

As for the confused country singer, I hope I never see the day where a tranny country singer takes the stage.  I don’t think my widdle head could handle that.

I have a new, big coffee cup this morning.  My “Queen of the Universe” cup is big, but I had to struggle with fitting my morning coffee into it without spilling it.  And, it has quite a few chips in it.  The biggest one thanks to Hubby.  He felt so badly about that.

I had a big cappuccino mug that I glazed at a “paint your own pottery” place that LD took me to a long time ago.  I painted one of my favorite scriptures onto it, so I saw it every morning. I knocked it off my kitchen counter and it broke beyond repair, which made me sad. I  miss that mug. I had my fallback Queen mug, which wasn’t as large but still my largest of my coffee cups.   I found a plain white cappuccino mug at the thrift store (finally), so I gently placed it into my basket and brought it home.  I discovered that Mod Podge has a dishwasher safe product, so I’m thinking of decoupaging one of my wildflower pics onto the cup.  Maybe I’ll do the scripture again, but I need to be sure my printer ink is compatible.  I don’t have my laser printer anymore, and quite a few of the transfer crafts require a laser ink.

    Thinking, thinking, thinking…but since I’m drinking coffee…

    PUZZLING ☙ Thursday, March 23, 2023 ☙ C&C NEWS

Good morning, C&C, and Happy Thursday! Your roundup today includes: Australia reverses course on boosters; the bizarre, sordid tale of Stanford’s woke law school rebellion last week; New York DA scrambles to get Trump indictment; Israel freezes anti-Christian bill; and you won’t believe the latest delusional young lady who is VERY confused about her identity.

There is your roundup, now onward…

    This is HUGE!

We got some hopeful news for our Australian friends yesterday, when news broke of the ATAGI’s new, updated 2023 covid guidelines. ATAGI is the Australian Government’s Covid Technical Advisory Group on Immunization, which has become a household word in Australia, although it’s a word usually accompanied by other household words that you can’t say in front of the children.

Anyway, forget about booster mandates! Nevermind! At this point in 2023, ATAGI only recommends covid shots for two groups: people aged 65+ and people 18 and over who are at-risk. The new guidelines actually recommend AGAINST covid shots for healthy kids under 18, or even for at-risk kids under five — the opposite of U.S. FDA recommendations.

If you want to talk about over-the-top, draconian, tyrannical approaches to the WLR, Australia ran a close second to China.  They didn’t weld doors shut on their people, but they did kidnap them and haul to isolation camps, where the new residents were not allowed to leave their buildings (even standing on the small front porches might result in a hazmat clad enforcer suit trying to bully you into leaving the sunshine).  Every day those quarantined folks were subject to a harshly wagged finger accompanied by similarly harsh words to force them to take the jab.  I watched one of these videos, jaw dropping, and crossed Australia off my “to do” list.

And I was gobsmacked to see this next section in the ATAGI’s latest guidelines, which actually used the word “risks” in the section headline, and acknowledged myocarditis and pericarditis — another breakthrough! — and, though I searched everywhere, I could not find the words “very rare” or any other reassuring technical mumbo-jumbo suggesting it’s almost impossible to be injured by the shots.

    /snip

This is a gigantic U-turn for the Australian government. Oh, they’ll gaslight everyone by claiming they ALWAYS acknowledged the risk of myocarditis, but the truth is the authorities promised OVER AND OVER this was the “safest vaccine ever made in human history.” The fact that the Australian government has retreated from almost all recommendations and is now recommending AGAINST jabbing healthy kids is huge news.

The next story is about Judge Duncan being invited to the Stanford campus to deliver a speech, only to be heckled unrelentingly by the trans-queer-alphabet groups, followed by their DEI Director (with a weak emphasis on the “inclusivity” part of the DEI acronym) who went to the podium not to quell the mob, but to deliver her own pre-planned six minutes of “I hate you, too” speech.  The administrators in attendance made no effort to calm things down so the judge could give his speech and engage in healthy debate with the students.

Judge Duncan responded by leaving, appropriately angry, and then penning a pretty spicy screed about how Stanford law-school standards have fallen below the Pillars of the Earth, passed Hades going around 90 m.p.h., and are now spiraling out of control in orbit around a gigantic black hole of bat feces somewhere in space. (Or words to that effect.)

The judge’s sharp criticism of Stanford compelled the law school’s Dean, Jennifer Martinez, to transmit a formal written apology expressing the school’s regret about Judge Duncan’s ill-treatment on campus:

    /snip

That should have been that. But on Monday, hundreds of Stanford student activists, which National Review described as an “eerie horde,” lined the hallways outside her Constitutional-law classroom to protest Dean Martinez’s apology. They also masked her whiteboard with marxist prattle:

So, the students are giving the Dean her own “heckler’s veto”.  Who are the adults here?  The students made these demands of their dean:

     (1) she must rescind her formal apology to Judge Duncan, (2) restrict what speakers the Federalist Society is allowed to invite to campus and define what topics may be discussed, and (3) expel the Federalist Society’s board members for inviting Judge Duncan in the first place.

So much for healthy debate.  The forming of the legal mind by discussing opposing views and learning to argue their own side of the debate.  I don’t think they’ll be allowed to heckle down opposing counsel in the courtroom, though I’d love to see all of these overly entitled jerks try.  The pictures of them being tossed out on their rears would be delightful.

    But good on Dean Martinez:

Dean Martinez considered their demands and responded yesterday. She did not capitulate. DEI administrator Steinbach (who joined the student protest) has been placed on administrative leave. Dean Martinez then published a ten-page memorandum addressed to the entire student body which used small words to explain what “freedom of speech” means, and required all Stanford law students to attend a full day of remedial constitutional training.

According to Dean Martinez’s statement, the new training is to include instruction on how the heckler’s veto is totally illegitimate, and how students must tolerate and reckon with opposing viewpoints — both as an inherent virtue, and also because students will become appallingly poor lawyers unless they develop this basic mental discipline.

    Finally, some sanity in Liberaland.

  14. Tedtam Avatar

Next up, members of Israel’s Knesset proposed an anti-Christian bill preventing followers of Christ from proselytizing. Netanyahu is not allowing this to go forward.  BTW – what about the Muslims in Israel?  Is there a similar law against them?

As Haaretz’s article noted (above), banning Christian evangelism would’ve been a pretty bad look right when Israel needs all the help it can get. Ironically, most American jews liberally oppose Israel’s self-defense, and so American Christians have become Israel’s most important allies. Evangelistic Christians are some of the beleaguered country’s strongest supporters because they believe the Bible promised that those who bless Israel will be blessed, and those who curse Israel will likewise be cursed.

Take a look at the last line, inspired by Scripture, look at our government, then our society/economy.  Put the pieces together.

Back from Marble Falls, and Echo went off without a hitch.  I was going to report in from the waiting room, but it was too late and I was unable to scroll through all the superfluous crap before they called my name.  Most of the drive over was in the dark, but as the sun came up there are certainly bluebonnets approaching Burnet from Llano on Hwy 29, between Burnet and MF, and unbelievable displays on Hwy 71 between MF and back to Llano.  From Llano back to SS on Hwy 16 is not as mature yet, plus they have been doing road work, so there are splotches of flowers but not the solid blankets that we are used to seeing on that route.  This has been a great year for wildflowers, and if you are thinking of making one of the bluebonnet trails, it’s time to go.

Unlike Texas where spring crawls in gradually, it arrives here pretty suddenly.  After months of dreary cold, sleet, snow and deadly winds, you wake up one morning and it seems as if everything is in bloom.  Some years it’s breathtaking.  New Jersey is the Garden State, after all.  There are thousands of blooming trees and shrubs in this town like dogwoods.  The difference is dogwoods in this climate grow to the size of oak trees rather than the smaller, delicate versions in the Texas heat.

I’ll never forget the sight in my first winter here when I would drive across several towns to get to my office.  I passed each day a big bus stop for commuters and there would be 18-20 people standing there bundled up like Eskimos against the cold.  You couldn’t even tell males from females.  Then one day it was suddenly warm, spring exploded and the same people were out in the finest.  Probably half were young women in sundresses, miniskirts and colorful outfits.  It was almost a shock, but it made me laugh.

I made it back from the store with a few plants, some on-sale strong storage totes, and a few plants.  I did find reason to call for a manager before I left however, since I cut my finger on the shopping cart and had to ask the cashier for some towels so I wouldn’t bleed all over everything.  A weld near the handle was coming apart, and there was a really sharp, rusty spur sticking up underneath the handle.  The greeter at the door gave me a band-aid and thought it was all good, but no, it wasn’t.  Fortunately, a manager just happened to be walking our direction, so I flagged her down.

I showed her my finger and where I cut it, and suggested they take the cart out of service.  “The last thing you  need is for some kid to cut their hand and his mom be a Karen type,” I said.  She offered to get upper management for me, I guess to smooth over my boo-boo with a credit or apology or something.  I told her I wasn’t worried about my injury, I just didn’t want anyone else to get hurt.

She walked me outside and called one of the cart retriever guys to help me unload and then remove the cart.

So, I guess I just saved Wal-mart a headache.  Now  I have to be sure to wear some good protection when I put my new plants in the dirt, so I don’t get dirt in my new ouchie.

The Business Of Fashion Presents VOICES 2021 - Gala Dinner

This guy is from College Station.  Seriously.  His name is Alok Vaid-Menon.

The first Scholar in Residence will be ALOK, the “creator of #DeGenderFashion, an initiative to degender fashion and beauty industries” and an “internationally acclaimed author, poet, comedian, and public speaker.”ALOK has been the topic of controversy in recent years. In a now-deleted social media postfrom 2021, an account allegedly run by ALOK posted, “I believe in the radical notion that little girls are complicated people. There are no fairy tales and no princess here. Little girls are trans, queer, kinky, devious, kind, mean, beautiful, ugly, tremendous and peculiar.”

UPenn is an Ivy League school.

You have to wonder how long God will be willing to put up with this depravity.  I’ll be the least shocked if these incidents aren’t a precursor to End Times.

Also, I was looking through some Asian news sites the other day and discovered these gems.

BANGKOK — Sparked by a single social media post, Thailand’s school uniforms have become a major draw for Chinese tourists, prompting hopes of a possible boost to the southeast Asian country’s tourism industry.

“This is the first time in the 60 years since our founding that we have received so much attention,” said Yenjit Atsawaprichawong, owner of Sriphan, a school uniform store in Bangkok. Since March, Chinese customers, mainly women in their 20s, have been visiting the shop almost every day, purchasing uniforms to wear while taking pictures in various places.

The boom can be traced to a recent social media post by Ju Jingyi, a popular Chinese actress and singer. In February, Ju posted photos on Instagram of herself wearing a Thai school uniform, apparently dressed as a character from the Thai comedy movie “A Little Thing Called Love.”

They write this with a straight face when it is obviously to feed the pedophilic fantasies of Chinese men with the appalling acquiescence of young Chinese women.  Dress like a child to attract perverted men.

It’s all just a tourism and commerce story.

Another story presents the other side of pedophilia with the glorification of gay romance among Thai boys.  It also depicts this trend as a lucrative opportunity for Thailand’s entertainment industry.  The fact the Chinese are allowing this to be broadcast in China is surprising given their government offensive against all things homosexual.  Perhaps it shouldn’t be since millions of Chinese travel to Thailand to enjoy what one American newswoman in the past called the Disneyland of Sex.

In downtown Bangkok, a crowd of waiting women squeals as rookie actors Jitaraphol “Jimmy” Potiwihok and Tawinan “Sea” Anukoolprasert step out of a shopping mall. With their blushing humility and matinee idol looks, they effortlessly charm the assembled office workers and students in uniform.

Yet it is Jitaraphol’s hand on the small of Tawinan’s back, and their fleeting glances, that elicit the loudest cheers. The intimate gestures echo their exchanges in the new series Vice Versaone of many queer romances that are Thailand’s hottest cultural export. Known locally as Y shows, and globally as Boys’ Love (BL) dramas, the serials are poised to compete with South Korean telenovelas for viewership in Asia and beyond.

Some see BL as Thailand’s soft power, doing for the Southeast Asian nation’s global image what the yoga boom has done for India or K-pop for South Korea. Jitaraphol tells TIME that the country’s queer dramas “can compete with series from other countries.”

The subject of the discussion was not Berry.  The subject is a female judge claiming to be a Rep when in fact she is incapable of ruling on the facts of a case – she rules on her emotions.  Sorry, but that is not justice under the law.  That is why you should not vote for females for responsible positions, especially in politics, regardless of what they claim.  Of course, there a are a few exceptions, but they are rare.  Look at Nooky Haley for instance – she is not a conservative.  Margaret Thatcher had more testicles than George Bush.  Jean Kirkpatrick was exceptional.  Right now Brazil, the Russians, the Iranians, the Indonesians,  and China are planning the demise of the US dollar as the world’s trading currency.  Mexico, India, south Africa and others recognize that America’s day is done and are aligning themselves as the new world force to be reckoned with.   What Berry thinks in pretty irrelevant.  So is what i think.  We need to be addressing the real problems and forget about these little snipes and freaks.

  46. Shannon Avatar
    Shannon

There is no defense for what the Judge did, reducing the brutal basturd’s $200,000 bond by half. But since you listened to the story on Berry’s show, you heard that the rumor is that she did it as a favor to the defense attorney who was an old friend of hers. Which makes it even worse.

I guess if she were a man, that never would have happened.

Well my gardening for the day is complete. I got four new plants in the dirt, which involved me opening up some of the pots, digging them all out, refreshing them with some new material, and then putting in fresh potting soil and plants. One of the big tubs and one of my medium sized planters was filled with dirt that I brought home from the shop in buckets. That dirt had a lot of clay in it, which made it pack pretty darn hard and hard to get out. As a result, I’m going to put some more cream on my elbow this evening. But I got them opened up got all the dirt dug out, put in some fresh material for composting and earthworms, and then replanted the plants in their new homes. So as of now I have a new pepper plant, a new tomato plant, a purslane variety kaleidoscope, and a beautiful cactus flower plant that’s about to bloom. I also had to repot my oregano from last year, cuz it was looking like it was having a hard time getting going, too.

I’m gonna go watch UH and UT basketball. I don’t have anything else important to offer.

We watched a little bit of the new docu miniseries on Waco and the Branch Davidians. Unbelievable how the ATF and FBI were a bunch Keystone Cops. At one point, the negotiator was seemingly making headway getting Koresh to come out, at the same time they were slapping handcuffs on any that did walk out and putting them in orange jumpsuits, knowing the Davidians were watching on TV just like the rest of us. Maybe they should’ve been arrested but could have handled it much better.

#48 – I lived a mere 35 miles NNW of Waco up in Whitney during that despicable ‘kabuki theater’.

The authorities could have EASILY detained Koresh without breaking a sweat much LESS ever firing a single shot! Koresh was casually out in public at grocery stores & such for weeks!

The whole shebang was no more than Uncle Sam & Janet Reno ‘flexing’ their tiny peckers!

    *NO SMILEY*

#49 Katfish: It wasn’t about them flexing their tiny peckers, they were just about to come up for funding in the Congress; they needed to prove their worth.  Both agencies should have been disbanded as a result of that egregious, unconstitutional, assault on US citizens.

I just got through watching Tucker and he had an interesting piece about NPR and their endorsement of the LGBTQ folks arming themselves to fend off all the LGBTQ haters. They had audio clips of the Tranny’s and the like training at a gun range. Is this just UN-DAMN-BELIEVABLE? NPR has always been against anyone owning or using a weapon of any kind but to protect the weirdo’s they’ll make an exception. It was strange hearing them (NPR) explaining how if someone is out to hurt you should be able to hurt them back.

BTW; I spent  a while trying to find a clip but I can almost never find a Tucker clip especially on the same night as it was aired. SO! If some of you fart smellers can find a clip that would be good. 😀

I hope to see my Latin teacher this Sunday.  There’s a guy in class who is struggling because this “natural” method is trying to teach grammar by using it.  But the guy gets declensions (words that are formed using similar endings to indicate what part of the sentence function they are) mixed up with other parts of grammar.  It’s easy to do.  I was lucky that I got started out with grammar instead of just trying to read Latin, even if it was the “See Jane run” Latin sentences.

If we as a class can get comfortable with learning what dative means and how it’s different from – and how it’s related to – the noun declensions, he and the silently confused can learn faster.

Because verb conjugations are coming up…

Those declension charts were a PITA but boy, I’m glad I did the hard work first.  I’d be utterly confused, too.
