Coming in late on the Hummingbird bird discussion, but here is what I do. I keep the feeder out all year long and change the water weekly. I have had 2 hummers stay all Winter for the past 3 years. Even during the Big Freeze.  I changed the Water every 8 hours for 3 days and they made it through.… Read more »

Vinyl Production

The vinyl polymer is unusual, however, because it is based only in part on hydrocarbon feedstocks: ethylene obtained by processing, or cracking, natural gas or petroleum. The other half of the vinyl polymer is based on the natural element chlorine.

I had a lovely afternoon nap, but now I’m yawning so it’s possible I’ll sack out early again tonight. The last few days, I’ve noticed a large black and white cat has started coming here for what the nighttime crew gets. I need to get a pic of it and post on the neighborhood chat methods, just in case some… Read more »

When you speak of the waxing of kitchen floors…..man, it’s been a long time since I lived on floors requiring waxing. Very long.

The new kitchen/office AC is running just fine.  The floors have been cleaned, mopped, and waxed.  Moving furniture to one side, clean and wax, wait an hour or so, move it to other side, clean and wax, wait, etc.  Everything is now back in it’s place, or in some cases in its new place, and the floor is shiny for… Read more »

Have been enjoyingTedtam’s posts earlier today reporting that conservatives all over are fighting back the wacko lefties who arrogantly have been congratulating themselves on their success in taking over.   Not so fast, turkeys. The successful conservative states that have overcome the lefties’ demonic and fraudulent covid hoax of the last 3 years are marching right along through the mess that… Read more »

Been busy, since I’m running out of room in the tractor shed I decided to make a shelf to store my new Lane Shark brush mower. The shelf is in the west stall right above the Bush Hog. I used 2 X 6’s lengthwise and 4 X 4’s crosswise. The floor/ground isn’t exactly level so I ran one 2 X… Read more »

Two trips to Brenham and over a hundred dollars later, I have two new 6×15 front tires on my riding mower.

I guess this is the high point of my week.

I can see it now.

Let your tax lawyer or at least a CPA handle it. They told me they can’t help me with this one, as it involves my IRA. I’ve been trying to be nice to the lady who owes me the documentation, but she promises me she’ll deliver, then…crickets.  Phone calls, emails, certified letters from a lawyer…nothing. So after I was told… Read more »

Texpat – re political shenanigans coming after us relentlessly

I do admit, I get tired of fighting.  They are relentless and cunning.

that’s because most of the ones that have pretended to be on our side the last 4 decades have been and still are on their side.

I was trying to clear up a problem with the IRS.  It’s a weird one, and I got passed around for about an hour and finally found someone that I thought I could help.  I was with her discussing the issue and waiting for her to research the problem for me for another hour or so. We’d already pretty much… Read more »

These Jeep Wranglers, Rubicons, and Gladiators sure are popular vehicles with the young women around here.

My favorite one has a decal on the back window: Look Pretty Play Dirty.

We had three feeders on the front porch and Fay was cooking juice almost every day. It was nothing to have 30-50 of the little piggies. I was looking for 20 lb bags of sugar.

My hummer feeder recipe is 4 cups sugar in one gallon of water, and I just keep it in the refrig until I’ve used it up.  I put mine up a couple days ago but nothing so far.  AC guy is gone, and he helped me move my office desk back into position in the kitchen.  I did the half… Read more »

How does this forced unionization square with freedom of assembly?  And Right to Work laws?

Sometimes I think the left is trying to provoke a genuine armed insurrection . . . . . they may be successful.

I have not seen a hummingbird in my yard for several years. Used to be, I’d see them on my hummingbird bush I planted in the backyard soon after we bought the place in 1995. I put it along the wooden fence on the not-80-Y-O side of the yard, and it put roots under the fence and soon there was… Read more »

That pic is from a couple years ago.  We have a feeder up but no joy yet.  Yanno ever since Harvey our population of hummers here has been slim.  I hope that changes this year.

After my long sleep overnight and into the day, I felt like shaking a leg after breakfast. Mowed the back yard, and still had a bit of stamina.
