Monday’s Remembrance of the Defenders of the Alamo Open Comments

Earliest Known Photograph – circa 1849-50

Close to two hundred men died in this battle on Sunday, March 6th, defending the four day old Republic of Texas in brutal, bloody horrific combat.  May God bless their souls.

There has been a great debate raging for nearly two centuries since the dust and gunpowder smoke settled in San Antonio de Bexar about exactly how many Texians and Mexican soldiers died in this famous battle.

This is the list published by TheAlamo.Org and totals 195 defenders.  It is quite well done with each man’s name accompanied by his state or national flag of origin.

The great Sons of DeWitt Colony historical website has compiled 27 different sources all claiming to know “the God’s honest truth” about how many died at the Alamo.  “It depends on who you ask ?”

Among those listed, I choose to believe the late, sainted columnist and historian Frank X. Tolbert who, with Wick Fowler, founded the Terlingua International Chili Championship.  Frank believed there were 187 Texian heroes killed in battle and 1,600 Mexican soldiers slain.  Tolbert and Fowler believed true, pure chili contained no beans and no tomatoes.  A man that intellectually honest and culinarily precise could not have lied about the casualty count at the Alamo.

I doubt that neither Frank Tolbert nor Wick Fowler know anything about Texas history

That’s just ridiculous.

#65 – Sorry about Your luck Brother! As a customer for 50+ years I found the chili 100% the same as I helped make = meaty & delicious! My ONLY gripe is they used much LESS chili sauce on the dogs – SO I learned to allllllllllways ask for ‘heavy onions & heavy chili’ on the dogs – they came… Read more »

I watched TuCa this evening with the videos of the capitol on the Jan 6 fiasco.  Pretty damming of the lies told by out politicians.  But really nothing that is not surprising except for the poor schulbs who are still rotting in jail for just having gone to DC that day. The Dallas weather man today said that his earlier… Read more »

I am confident that back in the days when you worked at JCI the quality control was much better.  I kid you not, the last couple time I went to JCI (different stores too)  the dogs were good but the chili and the sauce sucked.

#55 – I’m only responding to YOUR words Brother – indicating that chili w NO beans is merely soupy hot dog ‘sauce’. I used to personally help MAKE BOTH items as an employee of JCI – then as a semi continuous customer for over 50 years. Huh uhhh no deal.  This is about the soul of Texas.  Wick Fowler has posited a lie that these poor folks have bought into.

Somebody has to stand for the truth.

You may not know that, over the weekend, Antifa-affiliated Leftist Terrorists in Atlanta attacked a law enforcement training facility that was under construction. First responders, including police, were attacked with bricks and Molotov cocktails.

One of the Antifa members arrested is Tom Jurgens, a staff attorney for the Southern Poverty Law Center.

One thing I have never understood is the prevalence of American black families to name their children with bizarre surnames like Takeisha and LaQuon, etc.

We have self-fulfilling prophecies to fulfill.

I would not touch James Coney Island with a ten foot pole.  The last time I wasted my money in that place the hotdog sauce was so thin it could have been classified as soup.  I shudder to think of what I would get with their chili  “bowl version of hotdog sauce”.

Tucker is supposed to do an expose on J6:

In a March 3 follow-up post on Twitter, Carlson wrote that “the results of our investigation will air Monday and Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET on the Fox News Channel,” referring to his timeslot. Carlson did not provide further details about what has been “hidden from the public.”
