Yup, that pretty much says it all. Well we’re loading up to head back to Alabama and even though I had a great mini-vacation, I’m ready to head home. We got together with 4 of our best friends yesterday and had some fine seafood @ Pier 6 down on the bay. We all had some of their grilled oysters and I tried one of every variety, not sure how many different ones they were but it must have been 5 or 6. Later we tooled around in Bruce’s E-Z GO 6 place off road cart. I thought it was a battery job but it’s gas powered. No worries about charging or replacing the dang batteries. We had a great time down by the bay.

Morning gang.  Spring like day today with low 80s in store.  Once again it’s another holiday for some reason or another, so my trash will not get picked up.  I’ll get out and do a little more gardening today, but I’m still not going to let this nice weather trick me in to planting something too early and have it get nipped by a freeze.  No sporting events of interest going on today, so just not sure what I’ll be up to.  You all have a great day now.  More later.

Well, I took meds last night and slept like a rock a little past my normal wake up time.  I’d turned the volume down on my radio so it didn’t wake me up, but I missed it by only 20 minutes or so.

Took another Aleve this morning, waiting for the sciatica to settle down, and am sitting at my computer with coffee in hand..y’all know that makes a little dangerous…

Limping off to see if Mr. Childers is awake yet…

Bur first, someone posted last night that Richard Belzer passed away.

    Here’s a report.

I always like seeing him coming over my TV screen.  The dad in “Dirty Dancing” and the sarcastically quipping cop on “Law & Order”.  That’s how I’ll remember him fondly.

    We’ve lost another great talent.

Woke up to a grey sky full of sneeze-worthy pollen…  Tedtam – thanx for the reminder about Belzer’s role in  “Dirty Dancing” – I’d totally forgotten that.  He was my favorites in L&O

    EMBRACED ☙ Monday, February 20, 2023 ☙ C&C NEWS

    Roundup:

Happy Monday morning, C&C! Today’s roundup includes: Where in the World is Joe Biden?; Idaho legislators seek to make it illegal to give mRNA vaccines to anybody or anything; Bruce Willis won’t be back to acting anytime soon, after all; actor Tim Sizemore has brain surgery; coach Chris Mooney has heart surgery; FBI chief arrested for treasonous hi-jinx; East Palestine resident relocated; and the trend of apologies for pandemic conduct appear online and on TV.

In his Army Post, Childers posits this idea:

What do you think about this? Here’s the humble, narrowly-focused title for my book: “Coffee & Covid: The Book; how small-firm lawyers, independent doctors, and soccer moms saved the world.”

It would be a gathering of all the info on how government corruption hit us, and how he and his legal compatriots, and other little people fought back.  Frankly, I think it’s a good idea.

But where will he find the time?  I’m sure he can get help; his Army is huge and quite motivated.  Somewhere in there is talent willing to help him collate, organize, and write.

    More C&C:

He reports on Bidenco’s surprise visit to Ukraine.  [Probably to promise more taxpayer money if only Zelensky can help quash any future investigations into his family’s crooked dealings.]

    Onward…

On Saturday, Forbes ran a completely [/sarc on] fair and unbiased [/sarc off] article headlined, “New Idaho Bill Would Criminalize Anyone Administering Covid-19 mRNA Vaccines.”

    /snip

The news is, two Idaho Republicans, State Senator Tammy Nichols and State Representative Judy Boyle, have co-sponsored HB154, which would make it a criminal misdemeanor to inject an mRNA vaccine into a human or animal in the Gem State.

    /snip

While the author was clearly passionately against the bill, what was notably absent from Forbes article was any broad defense of the jabs. Much of the article complained about healthcare workers being criminalized for giving jabs instead of pharma companies, and generalized outrage about criminalizing other, future mRNA drugs in Idaho.

So it seems like the conversation may be shifting. As it gets harder and harder to defend the covid shots, the number of folks willing to give a full-throated defense is shrinking. Meanwhile, the number of people who are furious about the shots keeps growing. It’s just math.

Personally, I don’t believe it should be a misdemeanor, considering the side effects of mRNA.  But I guess they have to start somewhere.

  8. Tedtam Avatar

This is sad:  Bruce Willis has a terminal, horrible, brain disease:

One of my personal favorites, actor Bruce Willis, who temporarily stopped acting last year because of a little “aphasia,” now has a diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia, or FTD, which is not the happy floral delivery kind.

Although last year they said Bruce was just taking a little time off, this is permanent. The family’s statement recognized the fact there’s no treatment for FTD: “Today there are no treatments for the disease, a reality that we hope can change in the years ahead. As Bruce’s condition advances, we hope that any media attention can be focused on shining a light on this disease that needs far more awareness and research.”

FTD is a very difficult diagnosis. It get progressively worse as patients’ brains atrophy, and many experience bizarre, erratic behaviors, like cursing uncontrollably or drinking an entire bottle of maple syrup, two examples cited in a New York Times’ article on Willis’ diagnosis.

Gives the title “Die Hard” a whole new meaning.  God bless him, and may God comfort his family.  This is going to be difficult for everyone involved.

  9. Tedtam Avatar

Next up, in the “Suddenly & Unexpectedly” Department:

Actor Tom Sizemore, 61, was in critical condition yesterday, after suffering a “brain aneurysm” AT HOME in Los Angeles on Saturday morning….The well-known actor played in blockbusters like Passenger 57, Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan, and Pearl Harbor.

    /snip
Richmond head basketball coach Chris Mooney, 50, has been scheduled for heart surgery next week to remove an aneurysm from his ascending aorta.
I don’t know that the aneurysm is jab related, but if you’re a basketball fan, you might find interest in the story.
  10. Tedtam Avatar

Next up: Bidens and the corrupt FBI (again)

The FBI got another black eye last week when the New York Post ran a story headlined, “Hunter Biden’s link to disgraced ex-FBI official Charles McGonigal.”

Charles McGonigal, former chief of counterintelligence for the FBI’s New York field office, was indicted on two counts last week for: taking secret cash payments from a former Albanian intelligence officer, holding secret meetings with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, and trying to get top Kremlin oligarch Oleg Deripaska off a U.S. sanctions list.

    Russia-gate.

/snip  – more documentation of McG’s illegal dealings

Curiously, emails on Hunter Biden’s laptop from 2017 repeatedly referred to a person named “Dorian” who “was a real help early on.” They were probably talking about McGonigal. So.

Hunter Biden.  The gift that keeps on giving.  I’m surprised he’s still alive.  It would be easy enough to manufacture a drug overdose or something.

  11. Tedtam Avatar

Then, from the “Lefties Return to Some Sort of Sanity” Department:

The trend continued as more apologies for being wrong about the pandemic appeared online this weekend. Here in the next clip is social media influencer Daniela, who now calls herself a “covid contrarian” and who worked to keep NY schools open, confessing supporting early mandates:

[insert tweet where she apologizes for being wrong about mandates, and hopes her apology is enough]

Next, on Fox News’ prime time with Laura Ingraham, California doctor Michael Huang said he no longer recommends the vaccine and said he was sorry: “I have to apologize on behalf of my profession. Physicians have really fallen on our face, and they have refused to listen to patients when they come in with vaccine injury symptoms.”

We all hope this trend continues.  When we reach critical mass, perhaps there will be repercussions.

    I can dream.

    Clarification

This is Richard Belzer, stand-up comedian and actor, who played Detective John Munch on several different shows including Law & Order: SVU.  He passed away on February 19, 2023.

He was never near the set of Dirty Dancing.

This is Jerry Orbach, actor and singer, who played Detective Lennie Briscoe for 13 years on the original Law & Order series.  Orbach also played Jake Houseman, the father of Jennifer Grey’s character in Dirty Dancing. He passed away in 2004 – almost 20 years ago.

After such a grossly misogynistic remark, added to his list of offensive behavior, how can CNN avoid firing the sodomite, Don Lemon?  He was a failure in prime time and even worse in the morning (not that I have ever watched him), and now he insults over half (morning shows are more heavily watched by wimminzes than men) of his viewership; how does rational management (I know, CNN and all) not cut him loose?  If he were white and straight he would have been gone a long time ago;  by the way, how is that not racist?

BREAKING: James O’Keefe REMOVED from Project Veritas following Board dispute

Founder and CEO of investigative journalism organization Project Veritas is reportedly leaving the company he founded in 2011. This comes after some 16 staffers tried to oust him from the leadership of his own company….

    /snip

Veritas said that they were confident in their ability to stay the course and continue to deliver on the mission O’Keefe set out for them, whether he was in charge the project or not. Now they are likely to find out.

I imagine the cackling and grave dancing on the other side is immense.  And that breeze you feel?  It’s a huge sigh of relief from them as well.

Well, I got rain-threatened out. Got everything on the list done, down to heading to Walmart with a short list of items I am low on. But during my prior 3 stops, the clouds had gotten darker and lower, culminating with sprinkles on the windshield. So I headed home.

Stop #1 was to the CoH fenced area close to White Oak Bayou. A long time ago, CoH had a water tower there, but it’s been unused for probably 40 years. It has a paved driveway off of Tidwell, and has trees growing along the fence. That’s where I release anything I catch in my trap. I had a small gray mouse in the laundry room this morning, but he lives at the CoH lot now.

True to form, James O’Keefe is not laying down.

A leaked letter exclusively obtained by The Post Millennial reveals Project Veritas’ founder James O’Keefe’s statement to staffers on Monday after he was effectively removed from the organization by the board.

“I was asked to be gone until the 20th– it is now the 20th,” wrote O’Keefe. “I asked the board to resign for their conduct– they did not. So currently, I have no position at PV based on the board’s actions. So, I’m announcing to you all that today on President’s day — I’m packing up my personal effects from headquarters, and I’m intending to start anew.”

    /snip

“I haven’t always been the most ostensibly compassionate leader – and that is admittedly a fault, something I need to work on,” he wrote.

Since being suspended by the board, supporters of O’Keefe have speculated about the timing given that only days earlier Project Veritas had broken the most-viewed story in its history about a Pfizer executive who said that the pharmaceutical company worked on mutating the Covid-19 virus. O’Keefe references this in his letter.

    /snip

O’Keefe continues sharing his side of the internal dispute and closes the letter by suggesting he is prepared to start a new organization.

“So our mission continues on — I’m not done. The mission will perhaps take on a new name, and it may no longer be called Project Veritas. I’ll need a bunch of people around me and I will make sure sure you know how to find me.”

I’m sure James has loyal donors who will follow and fund him. And sources.  That’ll hurt original PV.  I see James starting up PV v 2.0.  James admits he needs to change his management style.  It’s a shame the board didn’t let him do that while continuing his current position.

Frankly, I wouldn’t mind two investigative journalism organizations, as long as they don’t focus on each other and remember who the enemy is.  Here’s hoping James isn’t so bitter that he destroys his original organization, and vice versa.

Don’t be a Trump Chump.  Just do the work and do it well.

    #3 Tedtam,

My sciatica came back with fangs out last evening, likely because I reached for something on the floor and put more stress on that side and had to reach out fast to keep from falling.  That reaction must be like being hit by lightning.  Zap. You certainly know precisely how that happens.  🙁

Fortunately there is prescribed medicine left from the initial event. Things had been going so well and it was down to minimal discomfort.  Exercises help a lot, so I shall continue them when the current pain is brought to heel enough.

Well we made it back to the Farm, 579 miles in 9 hours and 20 minutes. Not a record but pretty good. We only stopped for gas (15 minutes) and a Rest Stop (10 minutes) so we made good time and I’m glad to be home. But nearly as happy about it as my Lil Dawg, she went nuts, as usual. Also scrolling up I guess I’ve not missed much on this Monday Holiday. Later,…….

I finished 1.5 miles at a good clip today.  Didn’t want to push past that, but it’s good to be getting some exercise in today.  And the stretching felt wonderful.

I’m tired of being a brick.  It’s good to move.  When I woke up, I wasn’t sure it would be a good enough day, but I decided to make it a good enough day.

    Yikes!

You’re right, it doesn’t take much.  Hubby’s mentor/2nd Daddy was working on a tub faucet and reached into the tub to retrieve a wrench he needed.  Threw his back out.  And this was a dude who was strong, strong, strong, and was used to lifting and bending, as all plumbers do.

He just hit the “sweet spot” that time.  Heck, I was sitting on a chair playing with LD2 when I reached down for something and set my back off again.  Fortunately, I could sit and drive; I just couldn’t bend over to pick anything up.  I was very careful when I made my stops not to drop my keys.

  32. El Gordo Avatar

We’re showing 86 degrees out here with high broken to scattered clouds.  I opened up the greenhouse today so that the germinating plants could get a little taste of sunshine.  The squash and melons are coming on like gangbusters while the maters are a little behind.  Of course the tomatoes are such tiny, frail little things anyway so I’m still treating them with kid gloves as a few green shoots are starting to surface.  Got a couple more bluebonnets starting to bloom on the outside of the greenhouse, but have several plants that are looking all good and healthy, so maybe I’ll make a crop of bluebonnet seed this year.  My two hedges lost all their leaves due to the December freeze, and there is no sign of new buds anywhere, but the twigs are not brittle.  I decided that it is late enough and probably about the right time to t;rim them up with the clippers, so I cut them back about 1/4 of what they were.  They still seem to be green inside, so hopefully the warm weather for the next week or so might begin to show spring like signs.  I still have not fertilized anything to spur them on since I think it is just too early out here.  We could still get one of those 3 or 4 day long lasting polar vortex type freezes before it’s all over.

That about all from centex today so far.  Think I’ll get back outside and sip the greenhouse back up now that everything is watered and the sun is moving westward creating shade.  More later.
