Biden tries to create his own amnesty program.

Because…laws don’t matter.

President Joe Biden’s administration is abusing federal law with its new program that is set to grant tens of thousands of immigrants authorization to live and work in the United States, a new lawsuit alleges.

Federal law enables the secretary of homeland security to grant “parole” to illegal immigrants after determining, on a “case-by-case basis,” that an immigrant is facing a humanitarian issue or that allowing the person stay in the country would have a “significant public benefit.”

But the administration is enabling tens of thousands of immigrants from four countries, including Venezuela, to receive parole after going through a background check and convincing a person already inside the United States to sponsor them.

The program “flouts, rather than follows, the clear limits imposed by Congress,” a new suit from Texas and 19 other states charges.

It’s asking a federal court in southern Texas to declare the program illegal and order the administration to bring it to a halt.

I don’t know about y’all, but I am so sick of the willful destruction of our country by those unwilling to follow laws, enforce those laws, or respect our Constitution,

#2 Katfish, I assume that you mean a container ship? I didn’t know that Pensacola had any commercial shipping or port activity left. During the war Pensacola, Mobile and Pascagoula all had big shipyards but I thought Mobile and Pascagoula were all that was left and they’re much smaller than they once were.

#3 – SD only 1x 40ft High Cube – this shipper owned box coming from Savannah port via long stepdeck trailer.

Cargo is yacht spare parts for the ‘American Magic’ sailboat racing team.

I have moved some of these shipper owned containers dozens of times all over North America.
And Yes Pensacola currently quite a tiny terminal but a good staging spot for these racers.

We salute Mirabeau B. Lamar on Lamar Day, January 26.

Republic passes homestead law, sets aside land for education
    January 26,1839

On this day in 1839, the Congress of the Republic of Texas passed two important pieces of legislation: a homestead act and an act setting aside land for public schools and two universities. The homestead act, patterned somewhat after legislation of Coahuila and Texas, was designed to encourage home ownership. It guaranteed every citizen or head of family in the republic “fifty acres of land or one town lot, including his or her homestead, and improvements not exceeding five hundred dollars in value.” The education act was inspired by President Mirabeau Lamar’s determination to establish a system of education endowed by public lands, but failed to produce the desired results immediately because land prices were too low for this endowment to provide revenue. (Later to be started with Texas A&M University and the University of Texas.) Nevertheless, Lamar’s advocacy of the program earned for him the nickname “Father of Texas Education.”

Lamar’s brother Lucius committed suicide in 1834, and a grief-stricken Lamar began traveling to escape his memories. In the summer of 1835 he ended up in Texas and decided to stay, after traveling to Texas to visit his friend James Fannin, who had recently moved and begun slave trading in Velasco. After a trip back to Georgia to sell property he returned to Texas and learned of an upcoming battle. With a horse and a sword, he joined Sam Houston’s army in spring 1836 and distinguished himself with bravery at the Battle of San Jacinto. On the eve of the battle, Lamar made a courageous rescue of two surrounded Texans in a move that drew a salute from the Mexican lines. One of those rescued was Thomas Jefferson Rusk, Texas Secretary of War. He was promoted that night from Private to Colonel and was the commander of the cavalry during the battle the following day. Houston noted in his battle report “Our cavalry, sixty-one in number, commanded by Mirabeau B. Lamar, (whose gallant and daring conduct on the previous day, had attracted the admiration of his comrades and called him to that station,) placed on our right, completed our line…

Texas was his first love, and in everything he put her interests above his own as a public force. While there has been a tendency in recent years to overlook Lamar’s contributions to Texas by historians and advocates of Lamar’s well-known “enemies,” his contributions as the author of education, the Homestead Law, the Texas Flag Act, the Texas Bar act, the Texas State Library, and other bills under which we still live impact our lives daily. He created the National Library of Nicaragua when he was American Ambassador there, by donating his personal books.

Lamar ’s quotation: “a cultivated mind … while guided and controlled … is the noblest attribute of man. It is the only dictator that freemen acknowledge and the only security which freemen desire” has been emblazoned on Texas university walls, inscribed on university rings, and perpetuated in Texas texts to inspire students to honor education. The novel element of the Texas Education Act, the essence of Lamar’s annual salute as a DRT honor day, was that millions of acres of land in Texas were used to guarantee free schools.

For these and other contributions, we salute Mirabeau B. Lamar on Lamar Day, January 26.

    DIRECTED SIMULATIONS ☙ Thursday, January 26, 2023 ☙ C&C NEWS

I don’t think he’s talking about J. Toobin.  Let’s see what the round has:

Happy Thursday, C&C! I had to do a LOT of last-minute research this morning on the biggest story breaking on the Internet right now: Project Veritas’ blockbuster exposé interview of an alleged Pfizer executive who claimed that Pfizer is at least thinking about manipulating viruses to improve profits. But is the story too good to be true? I rounded up all the latest information for you so you don’t have to go digging all over the web.

Also in the roundup: FDA watch; good news from the California doctor-speech case; a SADS bobsledder death; great news from the Economist about Ukraine’s corruption problems; and another trans teacher self-destructs.

Project Veritas is always good, and I haven’t heard the latest.  Let’s go see what’s happening….

My planned news roundup was blown to smithereens late yesterday, when Project Veritas posted a brand-new hidden-camera interview purporting to show a senior Pfizer manager discussing how the pharma company was considering intentionally creating, and presumably releasing, profitable new mutated virus strains using “directed evolution.” [emphasis mine]

The executive also made remarks about how helpful it is that government regulatory employees want jobs at Pfizer, and said the Wuhan virus must have been a lab leak.

First things first. Let’s slow our roll. This is breaking news and everybody’s blowing up the hot takes. There are LOTS of reasons to be cautious about this story.

I wouldn’t put it past them.  But I think Childers is right in being cautious.  A story this big is like a glacier about to calve.  It demands your attention, it’s interesting, it’s dangerous.  Approach with caution.

Here’s the link to the PV video:  (  https://twitter.com/JamesOKeefeIII/status/1618419406878433281  )

I just watched the video.  Holeee moleee.  Un-freaking-bee-leev-uh-bull.

Childers documents how PV verified this guy’s bona fides.  I can imagine they would, this story is so explosive that they REALLY want to be sure the source in the video is legit who he is.  The profiles mentioned have now been scrubbed.  This guy may be arkancided, but that’s just supposition on my part.

Brian’s research seems to confirm Walker’s bio, but it’s not completely conclusive, either, as Brian appears to acknowledge. Especially suspicious is the absence of any publicly-available information confirming Walker’s employment at Pfizer.

    /snip

Walker’s interview comments confirmed just about everything we’ve long suspected about pharma. In fact, his claims are so believable that it is also unbelievable. It’s an explosive story tailor-made for conservative conspiracy television. In fact, it’s SO believably unbelievable that some people literally don’t believe it and think Project Veritas — and the rest of rightwing media — are being set up to be totally discredited.

In other words, it seems too good to be true. If I were suing Pfizer and someone sent me all these materials, I would be EXTREMELY cautious about running straight to court with it. I would want to triple-check it first. You could lose the lawsuit if it turned out to be fake.

Exactly what I thought.  Check, double-check, triple check…

Not quite a Rainbow Six scenario, but getting there.  (Love my Tom Clancy.)

Further investigation shows that this guy may be a prankster.  Maybe.  So caution is definitely required. But the fact that this scenario about Pfizer creating more virulent viruses is believable says a lot about where we are in expecting corruption.

    Moving onward…

    Next up at C&C:

The lawsuit about the muzzling of doctors’ discussions about SCIENCE and how to treat the WLR has resulted in a judge basically b-slapping Newsom.

From the “Suddenly and Unexpectedly” department, an Australian Olympic bobsledder has passed away, at home. He was definitely jabbed, loved the juice.  No cause of death was given, but the stories reflect on his gay bona fides.  Perhaps it was monkeypox?  Nah…

Whatever the cause, I pray for his soul.  May he rest in peace.  And all of the nameless ones, as well.

  11. Tedtam Avatar

Next up, C&C reports on a trans teacher in a Maine school.  Of course, said teacher can’t just live its life, it must foist its desires upon the students.

Parents were not pleased.  It was offended.

    Childers opines thusly (emphasis mine):

I’ve been thinking a lot about this whole bizarre transgender “movement.” Although the unhappy former substitute teacher clearly gives off strong vibes reminiscent of “it puts the lotion in the basket,” and obviously was unable to restrain his urges while in charge of children, in a way he is also a victim, a victim of a strong delusion manufactured by the government, its so-called “experts,” and the sycophantic corporate media.

    Trans is a mind virus.

These poor, unattractive, unloved souls have been completely captured by a strong delusion, the insane idea that they can somehow become “real” women by taking hormones, wearing makeup, and castrating themselves. When kids do it, we call that “magical thinking.”

When I see the numbers of kids “coming out” as trans, I shudder.  The whole “mind virus” thing is so true, and the alphabet activists are passing it on to impressionable children.  Those kids who are seeking to belong somewhere, trying to figure out their bodies and their social status, are bait for these soul-sucking vampires.

Otherwise, why would the numbers be so high?

The original feminists have a lot to answer for, since they came up with the original delusional idea that men and women are “equal” — in other words, the same. It’s a short logical leap from that principle to the “fact” that, since they are the same, men and women are fully fungible and any perceptible differences are merely cosmetic.

But simulated women are NOT equal to biological women. And they never will be.

    Interesting topic.

BTW – the tweets below the PV video are interesting.

Seems Pelosi sold off a lot of Google stock before an investigation began.

Yep, that’s how she made her fortune.  Insider trading.

Good bright and beautiful morning, Hamsters.  Yesterday’s gloom and windy destruction of many things all over the Houston area can now be seen in sad detail.  Yesterday one death of an elderly lady was reported on the news, and thus far from reading the Chron I have not seen more deaths reported directly involved with the tornado. I hope there are none.

The ruins in Pasadena and Deer Park look to be the result of a bombing, utter destruction to pieces.  Prayers for those folks affected and thanks to the good folks helping them recover as much as possible right now.  Also thanks to folks helping those affected elsewhere in the jumped-on areas as the tornado hopped, skipped, and jumped a ways before crashing on the ground. Such events are not common this time of year; it isn’t “tornado season” now.  That usually starts in spring.  Mother Nature does not read calendars….

I was able to set up my specialized ring tones this morning.  Fortunately, the clips I’d downloaded from a ring tone site transferred to the new phone.

Then there’s a couple of numbers that have been assigned the Cheech and Chong warning to “don’t answer da phone, man”.  Take a wild guess.

Still cool outside but the radiant heat from the bright sun on the south side of the house feels good.  I opened one of the access panels to the greenhouse and warm, humid air came out from inside, so looks like it’s acting like it is supposed to.  I posted a couple of pics over yonder.  I think this dinky little thing is just a fit for my limited needs and will allow me to get some seeds going to be prepared for spring planting.  I might have to hang my shop light in there if I think it needs night time temperature assistance in February.  Put a few little trial plants and seeds in there just to see what happens. So long as it doesn’t blow away I think it will do the job.

So there I am, running my errand, and I took the shortcut by going through the other side of the neighborhood — our only through street. A block in, and I saw a huge bird standing in the other side of the 2-lane street. It looked at me but didn’t fly or skedaddle. I braked and stared at it. It didn’t move, so I was afraid that it might be injured. And then I saw 2 cars coming my way in the other lane, but paused for the 4-way stop sign a block away. Big bird not moving. I started honking my horn to see if i could motivate it to move. Or at least call the attention of those 2 oncoming drivers to the obstacle.

Finally the big bird flew up into a tree branch in an adjacent yard. From its feet dangled a long mess of intestines from some poor animal that probably had been run over right there in the street.

Squawk has hypnotized me into buying an Apple computer.  You can replace a typical desktop computer tower with a Mac-mini for $599 right now.  You can also use your existing keyboard, mouse and monitor with it.  I was going to have to spend a lot more than that on a Dell enterprise computer.  I was taking Her Highness to the Apple Store tomorrow anyway to get her iPad problems solved.

Once upon a time, Patty Murray was the perennial vote-getter for dumbest member of the US Senate in polling taken among Senate staffers each year.  She has nominated a Washington state judge, Charnelle Bjelkengren, to the federal bench and that woman just got asked questions by the honorable Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana.

    Ouch and more ouch.

Kennedy doesn’t play political favorites either.

In 2017, President Donald Trump’s nominee to the federal judiciary, Matthew Petersen, pulled his name from consideration after a video showed him unable to answer questions posed by Kennedy.

“Just because you’ve seen ‘My Cousin Vinny’ doesn’t qualify you to be a federal judge,” the often-folksy Kennedy told Petersen at the time.

The reason that was urgent is anything I don’t get into the CoH trash bin on Wednesday for Thursday pickup… Well, if I don’t have the bin on the curb by sundown Thursday, that stuff is going to be around for another week. Thanks for the tip.  I’m only interested in the basic Mac-mini M1 model.  You have to realize I’ve been operating off a 13 year old Dell desktop with only 4 GB memory so almost anything I buy now is going to be an upgrade.  My iPhone probably has more real power than this old Dell. The Apple Mac-mini M2 Pro is the top end and a lot more than I need so it’s not going to affect me one way or the other.

Also, external hard drives have become so cheap, it’s crazy to buy that memory in the package when you can get a 1 terabyte memory HD for $50.

Well, if you are anything like me, you will later decide that you need to upgrade your network in order to take full advantage of all that new and improved computing power at your fingertips.  After that, you will probably want to boost you isp provided network speed a notch or two to take advantage of all that new router capability that you have now.  And BTW, you must have a mesh network so as to not be switching between the separate range extenders that you have to cover dead spots.  You can always offset some of these additional costs by cutting off the cable service with all the wife’s favorite soaps and such along with it.

And don’t forget about how easy it is to add all sorts of smart devices around the house with all that extra networking power and seamless movement from one end of the property to the other.

It’s just like the old story about trying to just paint one side of the door.  Enjoy, and BTW, check with me before you invest in that new mesh network – I’ve figured out that you don’t need a 10 gig wireless setup if you’re only getting 100 meg from the ISP.

That reminds me of my cousin’s funeral.  She loved to ride her motorcycle, and belonged to an all girl biker group.  There was a fraternal men’s biker group.  She was buried in an ancient cemetery in the New Braunfels area, and as I rode with my cousin in my cousin’s car, there was a very long double line of motorcycles which pulled into the cemetery behind the hearse.  As I gathered with my cousins at the graveside, I was wondering why all the bikers kept their motors running; I thought it was rude.

As they removed her casket from the hearse, all of the bikers revved their engines as loudly as they could.  It was deafening.  One cousin turned to the one next to me, and I started tearing up as she said, “They’re doing it for her.  She wanted to hear the pipes one last time.”

Getting a little weepy just remembering it.  She was a very cool lady, tomboyish and very mechanically minded.  She was so level headed and common sensical.  I miss her muchly.

An observant Jew will be buried in a relatively plain pine box after being prepared for burial by a specially trained group of volunteers called a Chevrah Kadisha.  The body is either clothed in white or his/her own clothes and wrapped in a shroud and a tallit (prayer shawl).  There is no embalming, no open casket and four holes are drilled in the bottom of the casket to hasten the return to the earth.  The wooden casket is supposed to be made without nails or screws utilizing wooden dowels and methods like mortise and tenon joints.
