R.I.N.O.? In a little bit I’ll be off to chase Bambi again and at 33 degrees it’s going to be nippley but I’m suiting up in layers so I’ll be good.

Morning Gang… Stay warm, Super Dave… Come on, COFFEEEEEEE

The SEC Shorts college football videos are almost always really good. This one is among their best ever.
-
Batten down the hatches. The weather dove says it is going to get nasty today.
-
SuperD – be safe and warm out there. And good hunting!

I hate Walton and Johnson

Waking up rough this morning. I’m wondering if the pending bad weather is what’s spiking this headache. It’s not too bad, but it also doesn’t bode well.
And my back is trying to spasm. So, I’ve taken two meds already and am sucking down my caffeine source, coffee. The caffeine helps with the headaches, or so I’m told.
I’m hoping that things subside. I’m trying not to take the hard core stuff if I don’t have to.

#6 – How ’bout Stevens & Pruitt?

Katfish
Liked Stevens & Pruett. Brian Shannon aka Eddie “The boner” Sanchez and I were pretty good friends. I used to hang out at Jim Pruett’s Guns & Ammo alot before BSue and I got back together.

SIMULATED RESILIANCE ☙ Tuesday, January 24, 2023 ☙ C&C NEWS
Good morning C&C, welcome to the Tuesday roundup! In the news bag today: Great news! Or is it? Hamlin game clips leave viewers puzzled; ANOTHER weird Buffalo Bills medical mystery; FDA signals new covid jab strategy … could it be the long-awaited “off ramp?”; a fashionable SADS death; Florida Supreme Court deals a blow to pro-abortionists; media’s favorite conspiracy theory featured in The Hill; irrational requirements to hear an irrational speaker; and the most outrageous, infuriating story of 2023.
That last one….that’s a high bar to be the “most outrageous, infuriating story”. But he said 2023, 2022…We’re just getting started on ’23.
Onward….
First off, confusion over various appearances of Hamlin. Last I heard, he was doing so well and the jab really wasn’t to blame, nor did it injure him (much). Then Childers has this video: https://twitter.com/TheChiefNerd/status/1617533688153096196?s=20&t=Wb6Tcf3X9WhsSdwV2e3-VQ
1) Why is Hamlin wearing a mask, thick jacket, and hoodie — and often giant sunglasses — in every single shot, even though nobody else is?
2) Why did Hamlin arrive separately from his family?
3) Why is Hamlin surrounded by lots of security personnel who OBVIOUSLY try hard to block good camera shots? In the first clip, you can even see one of the security team look back over his shoulder to check where the camera is, then move right in front of it, even raising his arm to help block the view. And notice how three guys crowd the elevator, standing shoulder-to-shoulder to block the view as Hamlin gets on. And notice how ‘Hamlin’ often hangs his head, making any clear shot of his face impossible.
4) Why does Hamlin keep his hoodie up and thick jacket on throughout the game, even though he’s inside and standing right next to his little brother — who is dressed normally for indoor temperatures?
5) If Hamlin felt peppy enough to walk briskly, stand up, clap, make hand signs, and flap his arms, why couldn’t he say a few words to a friendly sports reporter?
Like Childers, I had to ask if it was really Hamlin. It was so weird, seeing him isolated in that room with his supposed mother and brother, NOT removing that body hiding parka, hood up, mask on, etc. If he wanted to be seen, he was doing his best to hide it.
Any way you slice it, the acrid odor of another covid coverup is hanging all over this Hamlin thing.

#4 – If Yall aint WET yet it won’t be long until we ALL are…………

From “Suddenly and Unexpectedly” department, from the “story hiding” desk:
On January 13th, sports media site SB Nation published an article headlined, “15 Ways the Bills’ and Buffalo’s Resilience Have Been Tested Over the Past Year.” One story you might have missed is that of billionaire Bills’ owner Kim Pegula, 53, who was hospitalized for “unexpected medical issues” in June of last year.
[Insert picture of a very young, beautiful, smiling lady here]
She hasn’t been heard from since June. JUNE. She’s a billionaire and just dropped out of sight?
Two weeks after she went into the hospital, the Bills published an update saying Pegula was “progressing well.” That’s the last time any real news was published about the billionaire.
I’m just going to leave that story right there. Between Hamlin and this lady, football’s having an enigmatic season.
Next up from the S&U department:
The fashion world was shocked yesterday when news emerged that New Jersey male model Jeremy Ruehlemann, 27, went out in style, suddenly and unexpectedly treading right off the catwalk of Life on Sunday.
Yep, he was jabbed. I wonder if fashion designers are going to start screening models for the juice? I mean, it might have a detrimental effect on sales if models are known to go careening off the catwalk and dying in the laps of benefactors while wearing their latest…But nah, those “benefactors” would probably never believe the juice had anything to do with the dead body by their Prada shoes. -
Here’s the “off ramp” that Childers mentioned in the roundup:
Yesterday the FDA released what is basically an agenda for the upcoming vaccine committee meeting on Thursday. The FDA’s notes disclosed a brand-new covid vaccine strategy that, “moving forward, most individuals may only need to receive one dose” of a coronavirus vaccine “to restore protective immunity for a period of time.” Just like they do with flu, the proposal would aim to play the “guess the dominant variant” game in June of each year, so as to start giving the shots in September, so that people will be all set for the winter covid season.
According to an “anonymous source,” the new strategy also reflects the growing view that “chasing variants” with ever-changing booster formulations will be ultimately futile. Hmm… sounds familiar … sounds familiar. Oh! On January 11th, Dr. Paul Offit, vaccine expert and an FDA committee member, made that exact point in a New England Journal of Medicine “perspective” titled, “Bivalent Covid-19 Vaccines — A Cautionary Tale.”
Childers thinks this may be the beginning of the end of the manipulative media and government tyranny over the jab. Once the virus is treated like other viruses, e.g. the flue, the panic will eventually die. We hope. There will always be the Karens out there, with their masks and fear.
The article made some other remarkable admissions. Check this out. First, the article all but admitted the efficacy of the unpopular bivalent vaccines has FAILED.
“The agency last fall authorized an updated bivalent vaccine that targeted the original strain of the virus and omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5. But by the time the booster was released, another variant was ascending rapidly. “
/snip
Then, in the very next paragraph, the article admitted the FDA wants to ashcan the “base” vaccines, since they uselessly target the long-vanished Wuhan strain:
The FDA, according to the document, also is seeking to retire the original vaccine formula that entered the market in late 2020 — the monovalent that focuses on the original virus.
/snip
As further evidence for my theory, diminutive, bowtied-wonder Peter Hotez, a reliable vaccine apologist, “expressed concerns” about the FDA’s annual covid strategy. Hotez “isn’t sure” that an annual flu model will work for covid, because — get this — mRNA vaccines don’t last an entire year. Haha! You can’t make this stuff up!
-
And the C&C reports a win for life – in Florida, yet once again:
Florida’s Voice ran a late story yesterday evening headlined, “Florida Supreme Court Denies Request to Temporarily Halt 15 Week Abortion Ban.”
/snip
Florida’s new law holds that abortions are banned after 15 weeks, unless two doctors certify in writing that in their reasonable medical judgment, the termination of the pregnancy is necessary to save a pregnant woman’s life, or stop her from facing irreversible physical impairment (excluding psychological conditions).
And an interesting observation from the lawyer:
In overturning the Leon County injunction, the First DCA held that Planned Parenthood and the other plaintiffs failed to show “irreparable harm,” one of the elements plaintiffs must prove to get an injunction. This was interesting because it suggested the First DCA — which found mask mandates unconstitutional in my lawsuit — did NOT find that the 15-week abortion ban was also unconstitutional.
The Florida Supreme Court has yet to rule on the new law’s constitutionality. Stay tuned.
God bless DeSantis and his legislators. The libs are all about protecting the weakest among us, but for some reason babies in the womb don’t deserve their attention. Evil. Demented. I dare say, even Satanic. Satan loves him some dead babies. And the libs have no problem with dismembering young babies.
Because in the womb, no one can hear you scream.

Skimming over the Congress and its UFO funding, we find the most aggravating story:
It’s coffee and climate change. /facepalm
This is it! They’ve finally gone too far. Prepare to be outraged. The usually—reliable New York Post ran a revolting story this week headlined, “People Should Drink Less Coffee to Combat Climate Change, Study Says.”
… They can pry my coffee out of my cold, dead hand. They’d better remember what happened to the British during the late, great unpleasantness, when we told them at musket’s end where they could put their precious tea.
According to the Post, some criminals posing as researchers excreted this explanation:
“Limiting your contribution to climate change requires an adapted diet, and coffee is no exception. Choosing a mode of coffee preparation that emits less GHGs (greenhouse gases) and moderating your consumption are part of the solution,” the researchers at the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi wrote.
Canada again! That figures. And, not surprisingly, it all goes back to the war on energy and fertilizer:
“This mechanization, irrigation and use of nitrous oxide-emitting fertilizers — the production of which requires large quantities of natural gas — greatly contribute to coffee’s carbon footprint,” the researchers said.
They want to legislate us back to the Stone Age. Although, I will admit that the Amish did pretty well during the pandemic and never took a single jab. It’s something to think about. Plus the Amish drink as much coffee as anybody.
The article continued its obnoxious report, adding insult to the already-abundant injury, when it crossed the final, fatal red line:
They found that instant coffee was the most environmentally sound.
Oh, no you don’t. You HAVE to be kidding me. Where are the Mounties when you need them? Round these people up! …Seal them in a sack with a bobcat! Lock them in the lowest cell and throw away the keys!
This aggression toward coffee will not stand. Prepare for war.

Morning gang. Cool and light rain out here today. TOK discussion was routine, and not much to talk about except the Cowboy which I could care less about. Not sure what’s on the agenda today, but I’ll not be getting outside much. Have a good one you all.

Question: Periodically I listen to M. Berry on the live stream out here since their OTA signal does not reach us. Historically, I would get the full show live with commercials for the companies that he endorses and who subscribe to him, etc. Lately, it seems that all the commercials are for other iHeart stuff, most recently a PSA encouraging people to improve the planet by going meatless at least one day per week; otherwise all these music performers which they offer and such. I don’t get any of the local commercials, assuming that those do still support his show. If they are all gone, that would imply that his show is on the rocks and about done, but I can’t tell out here what’s really going on. Does he still have an advertising base over the air? Just curious.

#20 – Thanks.
In other news, I may have dodged another bullet, or at least avoided some of the pain. My brother stopped by and was headed to the feed store, so I asked him if he would stop by the tax office and take them a check. I’m uncertain of the exact amount, but I’ll let him go in a take care of that and I can avoid that ordeal. I’ll probably choke when I see it hit my bank account, but I think it’s easier having my brother pay my ransom than me having to go do it. Not quite as agitated as I might have otherwise been, and I don’t have to wash my mouth out with soap for using bad words.
-
I had a late visit with a doctor who only comes out here from NYC two nights a week from the Mount Sinai Medical Center. It ran later and longer than I thought so when I got home I was too tired to finish my RNC report for today.
Then I got up this morning and went to uninstall an old MS program from this Windows 10 unit and the computer froze up like a block of ice. I finally had to do a hard shutdown. Startup…fail. Startup…fail. Crap, I don’t want to have to go buy a new CPU. Startup…fail. Startup…back on the air. I’m still not sure what happened.

I hate Walton and Johnson.
Ditto that, I hate their fake southern/Redneck accent.Didn’t care much for Stevens & Pruitt either.
-
BTW Michael Berry ain’t goin no where cause he is the president/ceo of KTRH. that is what you call job security right there.
-
Well I made back from the outback and it was a nice cool morning, cool being about 32 when I climbed up into the stand but it was over 40 by 9 AM and 54 now, warming up fast. I came down about 9 and stalk hunted for an hour and a half then came home for coffee. While I was at it, I warmed up some leftover sausage N grits and fried up a couple of yard eggs and now all I’m set. Wife wants me to hook up her trailer to her Mule so no telling what I’m in for today so I better go sharpen the chain saws and gas/oil em up.
Oh and if you’re wondering if Bambi is OK, he and his buddies are just fine, romping about in the woods and if you think my hunt was unsuccessful, you don’t understand hunting at all. 😉

Looks like we’re about to get a tornado warning. There’s one over Waller, N. Ft. Bend and areas west.
Storm is moving east-northeast.
-
Good rainy morning Hamsters,
Calling it dismal and miserable nicely describes today. Currently 59 with off and on cold rain pushed around by the wind that thus far is not threatening anything. Here at least that is. Rain total thus far is 40/100, but the day is not over yet. A recent burst of rain is making homes across the road a bit harder to see. Sky to the west is a little lighter than to the east, but that likely doesn’t mean much. No thunder heard over the raindrops.
-
I had to go lay down for a bit, and just got up.
Some days, it’s just better to go in a dark room and close the eyes.
-
Lost power here… yay!
-
Cut-N-Shoot here. Storm is building and getting nastier here
-
Y’all be safe down there.

The weather folks are hyped up like they’ve all snorted a pound of krystal-meth.
I think it may be time to head to cut-n-shoot.

OMG, just looking at the weather map for Harris County, and seeing a color — BRIGHT PINK — that I don’t recall noticing before. Look at the key and it says Tornado. On the map, the big pink shape is centered on Tomball! Batten down up there, Abuck!

I don’t understand what your problem is with Michael Berry, ElGordo. You’re always predicting the demise of his show as it consistently grows with new affiliates around the country.
I listen to the morning show and he doesn’t seem to have any problem maintaining advertisers and adding new ones.
I don’t think he has a whole lot of room left for local advertisers.
What little competition he has in the mornings is excruciatingly boring.
-
And in case you didn’t know, Berry has zero control over what ads iHeart Radio runs in their designated spots.
-
Shannon
Wishful thinking on El Gordos part/
I heard predictions of the demiise of KSEV for years it is still holding its post.
I cannot recall how many times I heard Rush was dying yet he was strong till the end.
Some people is all I gotta say. And those same people cannot intelligently express why they do not like someone. But by gawduhhhh they have their finger on the pulse of the person they have so much disdain for.

Greeting from Lake Johnson in east Austin County.

I cannot even see my neighbor one block up.

#32, 33 – I have no problem with Berry and his show at all. My question was legit based on what I hear over the internet and I was merely asking if his ad base was still in tact because I used to get them and I don’t any more – I get the iHeart ads only it seems these days. I’m a long way from being mistake free, and I realize that Berry’s mistakes are amplified by virtue of his large megaphone. And he has made big mistakes although he has recognized them and somewhat admitted them over time. He bitterly complained that Trump was a complete fraud and would do none of what he promised, but of course he was in Cruz’s corner at the time. At some points I felt as if he was doing Cruz more harm than good. And of course he jumped on the Eye Patch McCain train early, and even after EP was exposing himself, Berry was taking up for him and saying he was new and subject to making mistakes, etc. He has also denounced him now, but EP is firmly entrenched in office in no small part due to Berry’s endorsement early on. I merely say this to just remind myself to temper my enthusiasm for Berry’s endorsements as he has been fooled before. But make no mistake, I do appreciate what he does and the message he delivers most all of the time. So no, I’m not anti-Berry at all.
PS – add #34 to the list as well. I do not know where you get the impression that I’m not liking Berry simply for asking a question based on the information I have at hand. That’s why I asked in the first place.

In 1993, Evergreen Media bought KTRH and KLOL for $49 million. Evergreen Media was later merged into Chancellor Media, which in turn was bought by Clear Channel Communications, the forerunner to today’s owner, iHeartMedia. In 1995, Clear Channel also acquired KTRH’s chief talk radio competitor, AM 950 KPRC. That means Clear Channel, and now iHeartMedia, has two talk radio stations in Houston, each airing slightly different programming. However, Houston-based syndicated host Michael Berry has shows on both stations, airing at different times.
KTRH was the Houston affiliate for CBS Radio News, before switching to ABC News Radio in 1997 and then to Fox News Radio in 2003. In early 2016, KTRH switched back to ABC. The Fox News affiliation moved to sister station KPRC.

Rain is pounding against the windows, and I’m very glad I can stay at home with the cats today. They don’t like noisy weather. Well, neither do I.
Yesterday I was looking at my ligustrums and saw that about half of them had tiny new green leaves on some twigs of their otherwise bare branches. Got a long way to go before I’ll know if they will be salvageable. After 27 years of annual Spring shaping, it has been harder the last several years to make them look good.
-
Well I do-dee- clair I don’t know what y’all would mean me not liking that ole Michael Berry.
/goes on two minute rant about Michael Berry

You boys need to play nicely now, enough of that huffing and puffing about radio stations.

Our power has flickered off/on here a coupla times, but I can’t tell if we’re on the generator or not. We are getting some wind.
-
I just walked out to talk to Hubby, who was sitting in his truck. I didn’t hear the generator, so we’re still on city power.
But man, those clouds are RACING across the sky!
-
After sitting in the dark for an hour, I saw on Centerpoint’s site that there was only one customer without power in my section of the neighborhood. I texted my neighbor. She had already been in contact with Centerpoint and they said power will be restored by 3:15 pm today.
Since wife is working from home today, we broke out a small battery pack for the modem. We retrieved the big 100 Ah battery from the garage. Her computer is up and running again. I also plugged in a bright DC light so we are not sitting in the dark.
It pays to be prepared!
Oh … and don’t worry about ol’ TexMo’s TPN pump. That thing can run 24 hrs on a single charge so I’m not gonna starve or get dehydrated.
-
It is getting darker from the NW so that yard lights are now on all over the neighborhood, and the wind and rain are more vigorous. We now have a little over half an inch of rain that is coming down with more energy. Still no puddles of any consequence on the sidewalk or driveway, but a heavy band of rain just moved in and brought lightning with it. This is likely the main storm approaching. Well, we are getting a refill of nitrogen for the plants to slurp up.
-
Indeed the main event has moved in, and we just passed 1.5″ in the gauge. Can barely see the house across the road, and many puddles are forming fast. In the back yard and pasture we can barely see the barn only 50 feet away from the house. It’s sort of a rain whiteout.

News reported touchdown tornado in Pearland. I put on the TV news and the circulation went right through my old stomping grounds, near my childhood home and right through my current route: bank, thrift store, etc.
It may have lifted, since the news guys couldn’t find a debris wall on their radar, but they are now saying a lot of damage as it crossed Hwy 8, and it’s headed for Baytown.
Image of tornado right now.
Headed for Deer Park and Baytown, “catastrphic” damage predicted if it stays on the ground.
-
Debris ball going of Hwy 225 – refinery area.

Oh crap. A school is right in its path.
Lord watch over those kids and their teachers.
-
Hubby and I both noticed sideways wind as it passed through Pearland. We were just to the northern edge of the storm cell.

Drunk man trying to steal St. Michael statue from Catholic church trips, falls on angel’s sword
According to the report, Alonso allegedly broke into the church and tried to steal a St. Michael the Archangel statue, but he then tripped and fell, landing on the statue’s sword. The sword cut his neck, seriously injuring the thief, with passersby noticing the wounded man and calling for emergency help for him, with Monterrey Civil Protection arriving soon after. The man was later hospitalized while the statue was returned to the church, apparently undamaged by the incident, reported CNA. Alonso is expected to face charges for his actions.

I reported on that story a few days ago, remarking on the instant karma.
I think it was Bonecrusher who said no, it was the thief being smited. He likes the word “smite”.
I like it, too.
Thief was smited on his own petard.

Just saw some video of Beamer and Hwy 8.
Yep something passed through there.

I was smitten by the sight of my wife the very first time I saw her. Happens pretty much every time I see her.
-

Yes, the NWS rarely uses the language “large and dangerous” for the short-lived, little tornadoes that we usually get around here.
Damn climate change.
-
Another tornado, but near Mt. Belvieu.
Moving fast, at least it’s not nearby any more.
-
Not scared of any tornadoes either.

But goopeecon liar mike McCall says give ‘em more.

pretty muchevery time I see her.Fixed it for you cause that is the way it is between me and my lovely wife. Fun to be bitten by the smitten ain’t it? Even when I get THAT LOOK when I have done something wrong that only she knows about and she ain’t telling me.

It seems to be over at Chez Harp. I was able to use an umbrella for all the dripping trees I had to walk under to make it to the mailbox. I had one small dead limb down on the driveway, tossed it onto the discard pile. I had 6 squirrels putting on a show for me under the breezeway, so I put out some Wild Mix and a lot of peanuts in the shells. Now I’m about ready for my afternoon nap. Glad we didn’t have any Hammysites reporting in with problems from the weather today. (Hope I’m not celebrating too soon!)
-
Gracias moderator Bruddah Squawk.
-
At least bsue doesn’t have a 10″ butcher knife in her hand.
-
The storm passed here leaving 2.41″ behind and lots of puddles that seem to be draining. The sun was out for a while after that but is now hiding off and on under some fluffy slightly gray clouds. A subdued light wind is still with us. Some small dead tree branches fell off in the yard, and that seems to be the only damage.

The first interview I saw was with a CrossFit fitness business owner in Pasadena. Like most Crosssfits, his building was a simple metal warehouse.
The weather deteriorated so he went to close the roll up door. He couldn’t get it closed and the door disappeared out of his hands.
He and the other three people there ran to the restrooms for shelter.
They had to claw their way out because the building collapsed around them.
-
This is very interesting and disturbing.
In a book by the late Pope Benedict XVI, published posthumously, the pontiff wrote that homosexual clubs openly operate in Catholic seminaries, which prepare candidates to become priests. Much of this activity is specifically in the United States, he wrote.
Benedict’s posthumous writings also heavily criticize current Pope Francis, who Benedict says is pushing a progressive agenda. Benedict, who died on December 31 at 95, wrote that the church was on the verge of “collapse” and said that priests and bishops were being permitted to watch porn at the seminaries.
As translated from Italian, Benedict’s writings state that he no longer wished to publish anything so long as he lived, because of the fierce opposition he would face if he made such revelations. Much of Benedict’s criticism of Francis, and the progressive direction in which the Argentine Pope is leading the church, has emerged since his death.
and this,
The writings also go into detail about the homosexual nature of the seminaries, which he equates to gay clubs. Much of this, he said, is in the United States.
“In various seminaries homosexual ‘clubs’ were formed which acted more or less openly and which clearly transformed the atmosphere in the seminaries. In a seminary in southern Germany, candidates for the priesthood and candidates for the lay office of pastoral referent lived together.”
The West and particularly the United States needs the Roman Catholic Church remain a stable anchor of our Judeo-Christian civilization or it will collapse. Protestants and Jews can’t do it alone and isolated.
-
#69 Shannon – no Spatula City spatulas for me… Unless I miss my mark, that’s a Walmart dollar bin find… Some of my husbands were not so well trained as Squawk, and would do the unpardonable – use a “rubber” spatula as an implement to break up browning ground beef… So I started shopping “cheap” for them… LOL
-
Of course this was before the baking soda/ground beef phenomenon was discovered which, presto, needs no such accessories.
-
Wife just completed day two of a four day real estate seminar (they left after lunch today due to flooding in the area) so the cooking has been left to me. Preparing beef stew, again I’m getting the side eye cause I don’t do things the way her and her mama did. Again she will be eating it saying “this is good!” But tomorrow will be the same drill.

Cousin in Lubbock is reporting 4.75” of snow in her backyard. I would clarify this is on flat ground but everybody knows everything in Lubbock is “flat ground.”

We’re supposed to get that big blizzard out of Texas tomorrow. So far per the forecast, 1/2″ of snow and 1.06″ of rain.

That is exactly the way it happens around here. She really gets irritated because my chicken soup is so much better than hers, but she won’t admit it.
I really do make mine from scratch starting by boiling a whole chicken, saving the broth, deboning, etc. She thinks I’m just showing off.

Roof was taken off of Pasadena Animal Shelter by the tornado, but all the surrounding municipal shelters are converging to remove — mostly dogs there — and relocate. I imagine they’ll have to go to foster homes because all the shelters in Houston have been full for several years.

Tonight was easy in the cooking department – browned up a pound of Jimmy Dean sausage and stirred it in to the remains of the last batch of pinto beans I’d cooked and froze for later… heated til all was good and thoroughly hot. Good stuff on a coolish evening, and minimal effort. And I even have a small bowl left to add to the pot of soup for tomorrow nite’s church potluck. Them beans be good til the last one.
-
Looking like we will stay above freezing tonight, but we’ll get down into the 20’s later in the week. Guess I’ll prepare to cover the outdoor plants that are in pots along the south side of the house since they have decided to start putting out early. I should be getting some seeds tomorrow, and I may get started on planting some of them in peat pots. Still haven’t figured out exactly how I’m going to do this since I know they need both light and heat to germinate, so I might wind up doing that indoors just to get them started. Don’t have the longer range February forecast, but I would not be surprised if we did not have at least one multi-day cold spell before winter is over. I will be taking TexMo’s advice and planting seeds a couple of weeks apart to see if I can lengthen the harvest season or at least spread it out. I’m starting on the veges right away and will let the flowers wait another month or so before starting them.
PS – #79 – What, no cornbread?
-
#80 El Gordo – nah…. we had cornbread with them the first time around… and I didn’t want any left over leftover beans…

I just picked up my phone to find almost 40 family messages. Seems NASA Sis had a close call. Houses very close to her were damaged or demolished, and there’s part of someone’s metal building in her back yard.
But her house is okay . She’s the one with Sjorgen’s Syndrome and she doesn’t do well with stress. Her house may not have been hit, but her body is reacting to the event.
Another sister has a daughter and family in a neighborhood that was hard hit. They live in or near Deer Park.

I cannot even see my neighbor one block up.
They’s behind a dang forest! You can’t see them on a clear sunny day.

I think it was Bonecrusher who said no, it was the thief being smited. He likes the word “smite”.
**ahem**
I am the forgotten and forlorn fan of the verb “to smite”.
-
Sorry. I shall try to remember you are the smiter in the group.

According to the Harris County Flood Warning System, we got approximately 4.68” of rain today.
That’s a lot of water. Been a while since I saw that.

Here’s a really scary story, and I’m not kidding around. All these places are near where BFF lived. https://www.aarp.org/politics-society/advocacy/info-2022/texas-elder-murders.html
Kind of discouraging to hear that they don’t seriously investigate elder deaths in the city. For sure they don’t out here.

So I guess that y’all made it through the storm OK? Wife contacted Huntin’ Buddy’s wife in Clear Lake and they did fine except for being with out power for an hour. That is a fast moving front. It’s supposed to get here around 4 AM and be gone by 6 AM. I just hope we get a little more rain. The bad stuff is going to be south of us in the Florida panhandle. Still cool here, we didn’t make it past 54 and that was the temperature about 10 AM. It’s 49 now and they say it’ll be 64 in the morning! Lots of warm moist air coming in from the gulf.
-
3″ of rain here – of course, it seemed like most of it fell in about 30 minutes… and it’s 48 outside right now. From what the news had to share, it seemed like it was much worse after it got into SE Houston/Pasadena

Dang the Apache’s are tearing up Longstreet Range tonight! Mostly Gatling guns but a few cannons every now and then, those really rattle the windows. Ahhh the sound of Freedom. 😉

My wife has real been busy today. She is determined to clear out all the underbrush in the little patch of woods between the Horseshoe Trails, just past the second terrace. Now, all that’s left to whack down are a few Bradford Pears and some privet hedge so I’ll get after them with the trusty Stihl and chop them up with the wood chipper the next chance I get. That’ll leave just some Sweetgums, cedars and a few oaks so it’ll look so much better.

5-6 inches of rain between Eagle Lake and far NW Houston.
Including me.

Well, there’s trannies and crossdressers and then there is this…
A man who had extreme body modification procedures to look like a ‘black alien‘ revealed he can’t eat in restaurants anymore.
Anthony Loffredo, 33, from France, dreams of becoming a ‘black alien’ and has put his body through several procedures to remove his ears, nostrils and some of his fingers in order to achieve the look.
Speaking to LadBible TV, the Frenchman has admitted that his extreme look has earned him some criticism, and that local restaurants won’t serve him on the terrace anymore.
Anthony, who took up body modification because he felt he was born in a body he didn’t belong in, said he has had to make his peace with people who are ‘close minded.’

Hubby got a pic from a friend in the car club. CCFriend had another friend whose valve shop is utterly toast. Just a pile of rubble.

Texpat 9:29: The dude is severely mentally ill. It does neither him nor society any good to indulge his illness. He defines someone who needs to be institutionalized for his own and society’s good. His ‘body modifications’ are outward manifestations of of his illness.

A Chapter Brother’s Sis n family’s roof+2 walls of their home was ‘removed’……in Baytown IIRC
Amazingly enough Dad, Mom, + 1yr old stayed safe huddled in family Van in the driveway
God’s own personal SAWZALL *shudder*

Bedtime out here. You all have a good night. More tomorrow.
