I received this in an email from Chris Rufo.  Don’t know why, or how the guy got my email.  Probably a referral from another substack account, probably Dr. Malone’s.

THE QUIET RIGHT

A new counterculture with the potential to disrupt left-wing institutional capture.

The idea of a conservative counterculture might seem like an oxymoron. The term itself has been colored by the 1960s, when left-wing intellectuals, revolutionaries, and artists captured the spirit of revolt against a supposedly homogenous, oppressive, conformist America. That old counterculture has become the dominant culture, having been absorbed into the bureaucracies of universities, schools, government, and now major corporations. The left-wing culture no longer carries a critique; it is the status quo.

… Conservative critics have long lamented the lack of right-wing pop-culture production; some have rallied to such troubled figures as Kanye West, hoping that dissident celebrities could break through the stranglehold of left-wing ideological control.

But this pessimism is misplaced. The solution… is to go deeper—to rebuild the structures that provide the basis for healthy, integrated human development: families, schools, churches, neighborhoods.

Though few have noticed, this is already happening. A “Quiet Right” is patiently, and nearly invisibly, building a viable counterculture.

The main locus of this movement is in education, where conservative families have created robust alternatives to the…left-wing public education system. Many have turned to homeschooling, … Others have enrolled their children in a fast-growing network of “classical schools,” which have returned to the traditional liberal arts curriculum of logic, rhetoric, grammar, mathematics, Latin, and music. And the small but influential network of traditional, faith-based colleges, such as Hillsdale, Benedictine, Thomas Aquinas, and University of Dallas, have seen record-breaking enrollment.

In the cultural domain, the Quiet Right has broken significant new ground….More mainstream companies, such as the Daily Wire, have sought to create conservative media institutions at industrial scale. …faith-based and family-oriented social media content have seen rapid growth, …

The Quiet Right is also reshaping America’s social geography. The past decade has seen a movement to repopulate small towns and create culturally moderate communities… They fled California, Illinois, and New York for Florida and Texas. Even within states, the flight to the suburbs is, in large part, a flight from left-wing culture and policy.

Though it might not make headlines, the Quiet Right represents a key social shift…They sense the danger of captured institutions and are determined to build viable alternatives…the Quiet Right is where conservatives should devote their energy. It is home to the things that will last.

Connections between Jan. 6 enablers and Kevin McCarthy’s speakership chaos

Most of the insurgent Republican lawmakers who are blocking GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) from claiming the Speakership also happen to be election deniers who promoted former President Donald Trump’s conspiracy theories about the election, and objected to the counting of votes on January 6, 2021, as violent insurrectionists tried to storm the Capitol

I wrote out all but two property tax checks yesterday.  Waiting for the last of our late rents to arrive to finish writing checks, even though we’d have enough to cover.  I wanted to be sure that we would have enough for some other bills before committing.  I got notified by the bank that we got another late rent in, with late fees.  Got another one like that, and Hubby picked up some yesterday and will pick up another today, from folks who like to pay cash.

Then our warehouse guy will pay this weekend. We don’t charge him late fees, because he’s an auto repair/bodywork/paint guy who helps Steve with his stuff often.

So, I’ll have enough to cover our bills, and I need to start putting money aside again for next year.  It’s a cycle.  I need to add up all the bills for this year, add some extra for the inevitable increase, divide by 12 and that’ll give me the monthly set-aside for next year.

Because we don’t own our properties.  We rent them from the county.

Out in California this month they’re looking at a different but related crisis. Instead of a shortage of fuel, the state will be looking at a shortage of trucks. All tractor-trailers and buses made before 2010 are now banned from the state’s highways. That adds up to an estimated 200,000 vehicles, including more than 70,000 tractor-trailers. And you probably don’t need me to tell you why. It’s because of climate change, of course.

The state is generously allowing older big rigs to remain in service if their engines have been replaced with ones manufactured after 2010. Of course, new engines for those rigs cost up to $25,000 and represent the lion’s share of the cost of the rig to begin with. This likely won’t put many trucking companies out of business, but it will definitely drive up their costs significantly. And those increases will be passed on to recipients, leading the price of pretty much everything to go up… again.

The foolishness of this rule is exacerbated by the fact that you can upgrade the pollution controls on older vehicles with readily available kits that will reduce emissions by as much as 60%. Yes, that will impose some costs on the trucking companies, but it’s still vastly cheaper than having to buy a new truck or even have a new engine installed.

    DOCTOR HONEY-DO ☙ Friday, January 6, 2023 ☙ C&C NEWS

Good morning, C&C, it is Friday! Today’s roundup includes: Damar Hamlin wakes up; I discovered another fake doctor spreading covid misinformation, this time overseas; Brunson v. Biden heads for Supreme Court review; Kevin McCarthy is still not Speaker; the other Pennsylvania Senator gets a sudden and unexpected diagnosis; Tufts University experts drop bivalent jab mandate but go all-in on sugar; Epoch Times gets CDC jab data and finds tons of bad signals that should have been reported; and Ukraine makes a Christmas decision.

After a few stories, Childers reports yet another fake Twitter “doctor” that is – SHOCKER! – pro-trans, pro-vaxx, etc.  The name is – get this – Dr. Bunsen Honeydew.  The picture is stolen from the Czech minister of defense.  Obviously not a real doctor.

Dr. Honeydew’s beside manner is even more appalling than our other fake doctors. On December 16th, this unrelated widower Gareth tweeted about his dead wife, who died suddenly and unexpectedly after getting the jab: [insert tweet of man reporting death of his wife after getting jabbed]

    Dr. Honeydew responded thusly:

That sound you hear is millions of doctors throughout the world suddenly cringing in synchronized horror.

Childers did report this fake doctor account to Twitter.  Good for him.

Y’all may remember this story from some weeks ago, about the long-shot attempt by a couple of non-lawyer getting their suit in front of the Supreme Court.  Update:

Today the Supreme Court will consider the case of Brunson v. Biden, which I reported about back on December 2nd…. The case is on today’s calendar for a private conference vote by the Justices. It takes four Justices voting “yes” to move a case to the argument calendar. Very, very few cases pass that bar.

We should find out on Monday.

Brunson’s petition argues that 385 members of congress, as well as Biden, Harris, and Mike Pence, all broke their oaths by failing to investigate fraud claims in 2020, and by certifying the presidential election over the objections of a handful of courageous lawmakers seeking an investigation. Brunson now asks the Supreme Court to remove from office all those officials plus all the agency heads Biden has appointed since infesting the White House.

It’s an extreme long shot, if not a Constitutionally impossible one, as I explained in my previous post. Honestly, I don’t see it happening. Feel free to root for the case if you want, but I’m worried about a lot of folks who seem to have pinned their hopes on some kind of miracle happening, which is what it would take.

Long shot or not, I’m rooting for them.  The sheer audacity and fancy two-stepping required to get this fired has me rooting for them.

The Brunsons sent out a message that they do not expect to be successful today – but that they still have moves to make and “have a queen”.  Don’t know what they have up their sleeves, but it is delightful to see how a coupla amateurs have been able to play the system so far, and for such a good cause.

    Go Brunsons!

Pennsylvania, the land of “sudden shocks” and demented representatives:

Yesterday, the Hill reported third-term democrat Senator Bob Casey (D-Pa.), 62, up for reelection in 2024, announced he was diagnosed with a sudden and unexpected prostate cancer, which he described came as “a shock.”

    /snip

The other Senator from Pennsylvania is stroke-addled John Fetterman. That’s two for two. What are the odds.

  23. Tedtam Avatar

Childers reports more on the Epoch Times’ findings on the jab (emphasis mine):

On Monday, the Epoch Times ran an investigative report headlined, “EXCLUSIVE: CDC Finds Hundreds of Safety Signals for Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 Vaccines.”

The Epoch Times’ investigative reporter got the results through a Freedom of Information Act request, after the CDC refused to make its data public. According to the report, the CDC internally analyzed adverse events reported between December 14th, 2020, and July 29th, 2022.

… CDC has always used three types of statistical tests to link an adverse event to a vaccine. The tests use different statistical techniques to compare incidences of adverse events from the subject vaccine to the same incidences in existing vaccines already considered safe, like the flu vaccine.

Pfizer and Moderna failed all three of the CDC’s historical tests in the data accompanying its undisclosed analysis. But who cares? Wheee! Jab harder!

The Epoch Times sent the CDC’s data to several public health data experts. They crunched the information and discovered over FIVE HUNDRED different types of adverse events showing statistical signals even larger than myocarditis and pericarditis, including, not surprisingly, Bell’s palsy, blood clotting disorders, and sudden death.

At minimum, these signals should trigger further investigation, if not outright recall of the drugs, as one of the article’s experts recognized:

“We know that the signal for myocarditis is associated with something that is caused by the mRNA vaccines, so it’s more than reasonable to say that anything with a signal larger than myocarditis/pericarditis should be taken seriously and investigated,” Josh Guetzkow, an Israeli professor who trained in statistics at Princeton University and has been studying VAERS data during the pandemic, told The Epoch Times via email.

The article reported the FDA also analyzed the same data, using one of the CDC’s tests — a technique called Empirical Bayesian data mining — but so far has refused to release the results of its analysis….

The Epoch Times has made the CDC’s data available for download in the article, and independent analysts have been crunching the numbers all week. Stand by for updates.

Heads should roll.  Lawsuits should clog the courts. Jobs should be traded in for jail time.

    From the C&C comments:

First, a LOT of discussion of Hamlin’s condition and his ‘recovery’.  Some very good points made in there.

I’m seeing moves for nominating Kari Lake for Speaker of the House. Wouldn’t that be a big boom.

The funniest thing about today’s fake doctor is that they literally used a MUPPET NAME!! The person who made the account didn’t even *try* to come up with a realistic name, and that’s hilarious to me.

McCarthy has been rejected 11 times. This is not the same as trying to kick a field goal, where persistence can develop your skills. It’s more like failing a driving test 11 times. He should give up before people get hurt. Or more like, someone rejecting a marriage proposal 11 times. Have some self respect dude and walk away.

Today is the day to finally sort out changes for an agreement. The Dems only need six Republicans to do a back room deal and put Hakim Jeffries in the Speaker’s seat.

Anyone who thinks the Dems are not trying to pull that off is mistaken. 218 is the number.

I really want Damar Hamlin to be ok. And I love how so many have put aside differences and come together to pray for another human being. I want it to be true, but something feels off…orchestrated. I know it’s cynical, but why do I feel like some of these folks are angling to save the Super Bowl (because it’s what Hamlin wants/do it for Damar)?… and that whatever bad news might come won’t until after they “save football” and tidy up the narrative?

Again, I was thinking the same thing. Billions of dollars are at stake with the NFL, and that’s not counting sports gambling. I’m thinking we’ll get little snippits of “good news” about Damar until the SB is played. Then who knows. The NFL has to placate the players and the masses for the time being. Just my opinion.

    As to the speaker issue..

Rep. Chip Roy did an interview with Glenn Beck that gave some insight as to what’s really going on with the whole thing. McCarthy is a swamp creature to say the least. And a lot of them have been lying as to why the hold outs

I really relate to this one, as I’m sure other Couch Citizens do as well:

Yes, I got a kick out of Brunson v Adams story and props to them for trying. But yeah, a lot of folks pinning their hopes on this – the same ones who think Trump is going to ‘save’ us, and so on. My mantra: NO ONE is going to ‘save us’ but US!

    Good Morning Hamsters,

At 6am we had smothering fog and 54 degrees, no breeze, and were barely able to see the barn’s nebulous outline only 50 feet from the house.  The fence lines around the house were just blobs here and there.  Could not see the road in front of the house or even much of the driveway, and nothing in the back pasture was recognizable through the white wall.  But the Chron was there on the driveway though not visible from the house, and we wondered about the safety of the carrier in that dense fog.  Spouse retrieved it once we could see clearly out there. Everything is wet from the fog-meets-sun reaction, and other than that one would never know that the fog shroud had been there.

Christmas season ends today with celebration of the three kings, the Magi, bringing gifts to Baby Jesus.  So tomorrow the Christmas decorations are put away, but the winter decorations stay to bring some life to the dead of winter that seems to last so long.  And red also is the color of St. Valentine’s Day, the brightest day of February.

I usually feed the 2 big Gypsy Boys first, as I take their bowls to rooms where I can close them in until everyone else has gotten their food. But this morning, I put Millie’s chow down right there in front of the kitchen counter where I was processing the bowls. After everyone else had gotten their bowl, I filled 2 more for Millie and took them around to my spot in the breakfast room. Here we are, over an hour later and she is still munching and crunching and slurping. She takes little breaks and wanders around a bit, then comes back to her bowls and eats some more.

Matt Gaetz is fine right where he is.  He might make it as Speaker some day, but being the Speaker is about a lot more than fiery rhetoric or pure policy, especially for a Republican majority.  Republicans are never going to line up like good, goose-stepping bootlicking soldiers the way Democrats do.  There are all kinds of Republicans, a spectrum from full-fledged RINOs to red-blooded hardcore conservatives and the Speaker has to have the temperament and wisdom to keep all this rank herd headed in the same direction.  Convincing squishy New England Republicans, California reps terrified of losing their seats, weird Michigan reps and stubborn, hard-headed Texans to vote the same way every day is not an easy job.

I’ve never been a McCarthy fan and was surprised to see him rise through the ranks in this environment.   But it’s not surprising given the House was run by John Boehner and Paul Ryan for 9 years from 2011 to 2019.  I would love to see a smart backbencher come forward who has no baggage like McCarthy and some others do.

Amongst the incoming 118th Congress are several freshmen progressive representatives who say that having to spend their $174,000 congressional salary on housing in the District is not just difficult but a deliberate effort to exclude them from the government.

“For those of us who are working-class, this is yet another reminder that this place wasn’t designed for people who actually represent their communities,” said freshman Rep. Delia Ramirez (D–Ill.) to The Cut yesterday.

Ramirez—herself a homeowner and landlord back in her district—said that D.C.’s housing costs are so high that she’s had to give up on her plan of renting an apartment by herself. Instead, she is splitting the $3,000 rent on a Capitol Hill rowhouse with another congresswoman.

This problem isn’t such a big deal for a single member who can maintain an inexpensive address back home.  It can be a burden on a House member with a home, wife and 3 kids in school back in Phoenix, Atlanta or Houston.  Children in college can be an even extra burden for them.  It’s obviously doable, but most of these House members are not living the high life in DC unless they have other income like a partnership in a lucrative law firm.  If you have $140,000 after taxes and $90K overhead back home, it leaves $50K to live in a very expensive place.

The senators are almost all wealthy so forget about them.

I remember years ago when Texas Monthly did a piece on Houston’s Jack Fields and Mickey Leland.  Most folks thought they would be enemies given Fields’ conservatism and Leland’s liberalism, but it turned out both had significant overhead with families back home and couldn’t afford to support fancy digs in DC.  They rented a cheap, 2-bdrm DC apartment and were long time roommates and close friends.  I think Fields was a pallbearer at Leland’s funeral.

Here’s my take on McCarthy now.  A few Reps have exposed him as the no good RINO weaseling snake that he is to the public, so they have accomplished that mission,.  By forcing their concessions to be reduced to writing, they further acknowledge just how much they do not trust him to keep his word, and even with it in writing, the know that he will not keep his word.  But there is no other heir apparent, so they have gotten what they can get, which is a lot more than most, and they will use it as needed to try to keep his RINO tendencies at bay.  You can expect to hear frequently about the Speaker promised this and the Speaker promised that as legislation runs through the sausage grinder.  The Dems and the press (one in the same) as well as prominent eReps, hare hounding these guys to get on with business, and I tend to agree with them now.  Let him, in his weakened condition, try to become too dictatorial, and they will bring these promises back to the floor.  As noted, everyone knows that he is a snake and that he cannot be trusted, but at this point there is no willing alternative.

He got 214 votes last round I think.  He has 2 more votes flying back to DC today which leaves him only 2 votes shy of the coveted 218.  When the dust settles, Boebert and Gaetz will remain as the only 2 hold outs, maybe a couple more, but he will still make it.  If I were those 2, I would go ahead and bite my tongue and vote for him just to show some unity even though they know he is a no good SOB.  They have made their points – it’s time to move on.  We’ve got another election in 2 years – a big one, and it he falters, he will be the first to go.  I don’t like it, but politics is a dirty business.

And one person can stand up and make a call to vacate the chair, and all business comes to a halt until that issue is resolved.  That’s a pretty big stick – almost as good as a government shutdown.  So I think we will be on pretty good footing despite having an awful Speaker.

Good news from TexMo – every little half step is still progress.

Went to visit my friend in Goldthwaite this morning.  He’s looking better than I thought he would.  His leg is still immobilized with an unbending brace, but he can move around slowly on his walker.  He’s compromised on non-alcoholic beer for now and limiting his cigarette intake.  His brother is there helping his wife, so that’s a good deal.  He does not seem too combative although it may be just because he has company.  Overall, I’m pleased with what I saw, and I made sure to let them know that I’m available whenever I might be needed.

So we are getting some good news today.

OK, that’s about all for now.  More later.

    A Contrarian Opinion

I don’t think Gaetz made a lot of friends with his personal attack on McCarthy on the floor of the House today.  You may dislike or despise Kevin McCarthy, but Gaetz calling his campaign for Speaker “an exercise in vanity” is an ad hominem insult rather than an appeal for policy and personnel change.

I realize most here probably have so much hostility for Congress they don’t care about rules of debate or civility there anymore, but if Gaetz’s goal is to persuade more Republicans to vote against McCarthy I don’t think going full-on personal assault is going to convince any of them.  I mean, what’s the damn point of speaking at all, if not that ?  It just looks as if Matt wants to draw attention to himself rather make a persuasive argument.

Hey, good news from TexMo, and let’s hope he can start eating again pretty soon!

  62. El Gordo Avatar

TP – I don’t think your opinion is contrarian at all.  When we are down to just throwing around personal insults in the absence of policy differences, the game is over.  Boebart is an impressive little firecracker, but she may be overplaying her hand as well.  Again, she has made her points, and if McCarthy comes back later with some revenge tactics, she can readily call him out on it.  One of the talking heads pointed out that this exercise should make McCarty a better Speaker as he has learned quickly that the idea of ignoring or rolling over the opposition is not going to work this time around.  Like always, we’ll just have to see how this plays out, and knowing that McCarthy is a snake should by itself have everyone on guard.

In other news, I’m learning a new skill set today.  I’m learning how to put those little fastening clips on the end of ethernet cables.  It’s not that easy to do, but I can see that after only a few I’m getting better at it.  I’m sure the pros whip them out in about 10 seconds, takes me several minutes to get everything lined up right and even then about half the time they don’t slide into the clip properly.  Practice, practice, practice.  I’ve about learned and memorized the order the colored wires go in, so I’ve got that going for me.  And the little continuity tester that they sent along with the crimper tools is very helpful.  Got one more cable to make right now, and then I’ll put that away for the day.  –

PS – If you ever decide to try to do this, get the clips that allow the wires to pass all the way through so you can easily check you work and then clip off the excess yourself. Much easier to work with that way than using those with blunt ends.

    Cruz on Crenshaw

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, urged Republicans to avoid personal attacks in the ongoing leadership fight in the House, chastising his fellow Texan Rep.-elect Dan Crenshaw for using the word “terrorists” to describe the 20 GOP holdouts who have refused to throw their support behind Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif.

On Friday’s episode of the “Verdict with Ted Cruz” podcast, the senator warned that “overheated rhetoric” would not help the party reconcile and unite behind a leader in the House.

“My view is ‘settle down.’ This will work out and it’ll be fine,” Cruz said. “That kind of overheated rhetoric, calling people ‘terrorists,’ is not terribly conducive to anything resembling Republican unity. It’s not conducive to having strong leadership for the next two years in the House, engaging in vitriol and personal attacks.”

I think you’re correct on your assessment on this Speaker drama.  If this doesn’t make McCarthy a better Speaker it will certainly make him a more careful one.  Maybe he’ll shock all of us and be a great one.  Who knows ?

Some wit commented yesterday, I think, that the Founding Fathers would’ve enjoyed and approved of this whole Speaker fight.  I agree with that sentiment and believe the whole thing has been healthy for Republicans and the House as a whole.  The Democrats can take a few lessons now from their colleagues about reining in their leadership.

**You can save quite a few dollars making up your own ethernet cables.**

I agree, this is the best deal we can get at this point and probably more than could have been expected. Sounds like conservatives will have voices in the committees now, ELG is right, McCarthy and the E-Pubs will pull their shenanigans to go around the agreements made but I believe the 20 or so will keep up the battle. They will need to, not to convince any Dems, but to remind all those Republicans, who campaign on all these conservative issues but once inside vote otherwise, who have been peeing their panties over this fight that the voters are watching.

Your next nightmare:  Feds regulating every private creek, pond, stock tank and bayou in the entire country.

By Zippy Duvall, President of the American Farm Bureau Federation

In 2015, the Obama-Biden administration enacted a WOTUS rule that essentially gave the federal government jurisdiction over every body of water in the country, including streams and ditches.

Now, the Biden administration is back with a new WOTUS rule that will create more uncertainty and condemn communities across the country to regulatory limbo.

The Supreme Court heard oral arguments for Sackett v. EPA in October and is expected to release a decision in early 2023. The case that will undoubtedly help clarify the definition of “navigable waters.” So, on top of encroaching on private property rights, the Biden administration is wasting taxpayer dollars on an effort that will likely be disputed by the highest Court in the land. Still, the administration seems intent on sowing the seeds of uncertainty for all of those impacted by WOTUS regulations – namely our farmers and ranchers.

Zippy is a passionate advocate, but if he would call me I would help him write a better appeal to the public.

    Just saw this over yonder:

A Beautiful MIRACLE Through The Blessed Hands of Pope Benedict XVI, know the story:
Peter Srsich, met Pope Benedict XVI in May 2012, along with his parents Tom and Laura, and his brother Johnny. Everyone was in St. Peter’s Square at the Pope’s hearing.
They came from Colorado, Peter was 19 and had arrived in front of the Pontifice, thanks to a trip organized by the Make A Wish International Foundation, which makes it a reality for sick kids to meet the Pope.
Peter was so excited he wasn’t expecting a one-on-one meeting. He thought he would have a few moments to tell him about him, when he realized that all those who, like him, were trained, carried gifts with them, but he, on the other hand, had nothing to offer.
Then Peter’s father, Tom, proposed to give him the green bracelet he was wearing, with the words “Pray for Peter” and the passage Romans 8:28: “… And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to his purpose. “, that Peter loved so much.
That was just one of 1,200 bracelets his classmate had made to create a chain of prayer for his health.
Peter had lung cancer, an advanced stage Hodgkin lymphoma that was pressing on his heart. It was so big they couldn’t anesthesia him, because there was a risk he wouldn’t wake up again, so they couldn’t even extract for a biopsy.
Multiple chemotherapy had led him to depression, from which he only recovered when he received the Eucharist. Peter battled that disease and was convinced he could be cured if he would simply go to the Vatican.
So the child stood before the Pope, explaining everything in a few words and asking for a blessing. Pope Benedict XVI blessed him, placing his right hand on his chest, where the tumor was, without Peter telling him where it was.
From that moment, the child never stopped improving, until he was completely healed.
He attended the University and is now a Priest as of May 15, 2021.

Well here is something you don’t read every day.

Prince Harry Says He Lost His Virginity to an Ass-Spanking Older Woman

Prince Harry has described being “spanked” when he lost his virginity “to an older lady” in a field behind a “busy pub” in what he called “a humiliating episode.”

Despite the humiliation, the prince opted to describe it all over again in graphic detail in his new book, Spare, which has been accidentally released five days early in Spain.

According to a translation posted on the Sky News website, Harry described his partner as “an older lady, who loved horses very much and treated me like a young stallion.”

I wonder if we will ever find out who the woman was.

Nancy Polesi, you might know her as San Fran Nan, has denied that she has ever spanked Harry.  She did say ahe would liked to have him**********************, but alas it was not to be.

#47 – TP – I’m planning on doing some custom ethernet wiring around here.  I sort of practicing and learning on making up some shorter “pig tail” connector cables and then I’l tackle the “in the wall” wiring later.  I’m still very pleased with the way my One Mesh wireless setup is working, so this is really just an unnecessary plan to wire the bedrooms with ethernet too, but it’s interesting to see if I can do it and how it works.  I might want to put one outside connection on the patio and have a temporary outdoor network for instance too that I can unplug and bring back inside when not in use.  The One Mesh network already makes my house glow in the dark – not quite like Brother Dave’s of course, but it’s throwing off a pretty good signal and I cannot find any dead spots inside.

Well, I’m surprised that McCarthy did not get the extra votes that he needed tonight to complete his journey to the Speaker’s office.  If you did not see it, he walked back to Gaetz and Boebart sitting on the floor and personally asked them to change their vote, and they refused.  Apparently the words exchanged were not all that pleasant.  I did think, that as I said earlier, that they dissidents have made their point and that it’s time to move on, but there is certainly more than a policy dispute involved there.  Anyway, look for those two to catch the wrath of hades over the weekend, and in this case, at the risk of being called a RINO myself, it’s time to end this.  Either put up a worthy candidate who can get the support of the entire party line, or go along with the rest of them as it stands acknowledging that you have extracted all you can from him and further holding out is most likely counter productive.

Meanwhile, the Reps offered a motion to adjourn until Monday, which of course the Dems oppose.  At the last second, Gaetz ran up to the podium and cast his vote against adjournment, followed by several other Reps.  There is chaos on the floor right now, but it looked to me like Gaetz went over to McCarthy and shook his hand, signaling that in the next vote, since the motion to adjourn fails, he and Ms. Boebert would vote to elect McCarthy.  That’s what it’s looking like to me now just as I was headed off to bed.
