Let us all rejoice in the coming of the Savior of man!
Luke 2 6:14
And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Will somebody call Texanadian and tell him to come get his weather? It’s been here on my place since late last week. And talk about a drunk weekend, 17 on Saturday morning, 24 Sunday and now 20 this morning. He also needs to check that fence on the south forty.
Mornin’ Gang
Today was a wonderful Christmas for us, quiet with just the right amount of outside stuff to look at after lunch. Lunch was leftovers from yesterday with some additions from odds and ends hanging around waiting to be noticed. We dined out for our Christmas dinner yesterday at noon and brought a lot of it home for today. We called… Read more »
It’s been a marvelous Christmas Day – starting with a wonderful sermon at church, then we “kidnapped” my singing partner from church, and went to the coast – saw bunches of birds at the Texas City dike, avoided the remnants of a car wreck at the entrance to our favorite Christmas dinner place “Kelley’s” at LaMarque – a place filled… Read more »
It’s about closing time out here now. Temp back down to near freezing. I did get some work done in my flower bed today and added the freeze burned stuff to the compost pile. Having a little small cup of left over chili to help settle my stomach here at bedtiime. Hope that you all have a nice evening and… Read more »
Croquet and puzzles.
Yep. Good times.
Sublime Pt. 2
We had a nice Christmas, just my wife and me until about 3, sister showed up and later I fixed an easy meal of Texas Tamales, rice N beans. I think this is the first time ever that we didn’t have a big meal on Christmas day. When the wife was getting out the Christmas decorations a couple of weeks… Read more »
Sublime.
I believe she’s got it.
Hope everyone had a nice holiday today.
At the last Box reunion, SQK was shocked that his great nieces grew up and started a band.
I have a niece who has her birthday today. I always made sure to get her a birthday present AND a Christmas present when she was young. I always felt like folks with Christmas as birthdays always got short shrift.
Fielded a couple more phone calls and a couple more text messages. I’m about played out, but I’ve got to stay up until later so I won’t get up early in the morning again. All the animals dropped by for their after sunset snack at the cat food bowl – 2 cats, 2 foxes, 2 possums that I’ve seen so… Read more »

Regarding my #46:
To my mind, there is no reason for any pie other than pecan pie. But 80-y.o. does not agree. Honestly, that store-bought peanut butter pie was a yucky mess.
But in his favor, 80-y.o. has 2 miniature, aging dogs. I always enjoy getting to pet the little guys. And they seem to be drawn to me.
#45 – Visiting Barb’s Son, DIL, grandson
Well, I had a fab Christmas with 80-y.o. neighbor, his 60-y.o. son from Dallas, their Houston friend 80-y.o. Peggy, and everyone’s friend Irene who lives in the next block. Ken had cooked all sorts of festive food: roasted beef, rice pilaf, beets cooked with onions, a couple of other veggie dishes that I’ve forgotten the details, homemade biscuits, and anything… Read more »

Why are you in Memphis this time of year ? The last time I woke up in Tennessee was in Nashville, in a Holiday Inn, and it was 4° with about a -15° windchill going on.
Ukranian master blade smith makes a tanto blade from Russian APC gun.
This is a case where the handle really needs to be made for a complete piece, however, I get it. Completely.
All moved in @ Motel (Memphis) – made it by sunset
I see where you have to pay to watch The Lion In Winter. I’m a firm believer that everything on the internet should be free, but I would make an exception for this one. It’s worth the $4 to watch it, especially if you can split up that $4 charge among several people.
Best Christmas movie ever: The Lion in Winter. Check it out. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063227/
It just so happens that I live on the west side of Houston and I like to cook for carnivores. Perhaps we could do this shindig in Glorious Copperfield?
/I prolly should ask my lovely Mrs., but she will go along I’m sure.
I think we should organize a big dinner for TexMo later this year when he’s back to eating like a normal carnivore. Someplace on the west side of Houston?
#37 – Home is always the best place to be. Caught up with several old friends by phone today, and we talked about a number of other old friends that we have lost during the year. We all know that there is a lot more time behind us than there is in front of us, and that’s just a fact… Read more »
I am still in the hospital and I haven’t been allowed to eat in 14 days now. All nutrition is via TPN intravenous feed. Still waiting for my gut to heal itself. It will be a pain, but I should be able be to discharged home this week with all these drains and the IV line still in place and… Read more »
My dad bought me a spring loaded pocket knife for Christmas. It is similar to what he has. He is going on a cruise with Mom and her sisters and their spouses next month. I told him to leave the spring loaded knives at home. They’ll get confiscated at the least or land him in trouble at the worst.
TexMo good to hear from you, did you make it home for Christmas?
Merry Christmas y’all! I’m glad this blog family is still here.
I’ve lost my three favorite pocketknives in the last few years to the TSA because I can’t seem to remember to put them in my checked bag. I finally received a new sodbuster today. I feel whole again.
Merry Christmas and sympathy to all those cattlemen and women who have been out busting up ice in water troughs and stock tanks in the freezing cold across this nation.
I forgot to grouse about the indoor temps during this ice-bound holiday. Centerpoint says set temp to 70° and wear a coat. Well, my cats don’t have any coats except for their own fur, so I’ve had my thermostat set downstairs at 76° throughout the freeze. But we’ve never reached 76°, best so far has been 73° during the daytime.… Read more »
Started watching the new Jack Ryan series on Prime. We’ll see how that goes. I’ve upgraded my internet speed, installed my mesh network. Every device connected to the assorted nodes seems to be operating perfectly and running at virtually top speed where ever located. I had to run one ethernet cable from the kitchen to the den since I located… Read more »
Went outside and pulled up a few dead plants and added them to the compost pile. Ice is floating in the water trough, but if the animals need a drink, they can figure out how to get water from around the edges of the ice plug. Found one ant bed. Sunshine is bright again today, very bright.

No trial for FTX? Just like that phony arrest the day before he was supposed to testify in front of congress committee. None of the politicians want to hear what he has to say since they were all in on the take from the beginning.
I’ve had enough cold weather to last the rest of my life! At least I have hot water. Well, at least I have hot water in the bathroom where I take a bath. In the kitchen — well, ‘fraid not. As I discovered last night, there was only a drizzle in the kitchen sink. I had to get some of… Read more »

It’s hilarious.
Man, the internet is really bogged down today. I haven’t seen it this slow in a long time. I’m also getting security checks trying to open websites where I’ve never been checked before. There must be some vicious cyber attacks going on out there in addition to the usual Christmas Day overload. Even my bank has added extra security checks… Read more »
#4 – Well, I see that Abuck broke through the log jam on his own, so that’s a good sign. Been fielding a few Christmas well wishes on the phone this morning, and since it’s now reported to be above freezing again, I’ll go out and check the water trough. I’m pretty sure it was frozen solid yesterday, but it… Read more »
Waffle House sounds really good.
Took a left in Arkansas and another left into Texas! *Waffle House!*
Alright, you hamsters….
Her Highness’ son lives now with his family in South Carolina. They just moved into a big, expensive new home in August, this morning it hit 23° and the pipes froze somewhere. I don’t have details other than no pipes broke although they froze and they have no water. Strange.
