Good morning, Hamboners.
Rolling out to Bush music…

A fantabulous night to make romance ‘Neath the cover of October skies
Standing in line to drop off my checked bag and I look up and my church Music Director is standing there.
Freak out.
He’s headed to Dayton, Ohio for a recording gig.
Safe travels Shannon and have fun up there in Yankee Land. We’ll be waiting for a report on the walk-in Humidor that place is impressive.
Mornin’ Gang
So Shannon are you on United #1268, Houston Intergalactic to Newark? If so that 737 Max 8 is a big sucker, 178 passengers in SW configuration. The 700 series is about 142 and to think the 737 started out at about 80-100 passengers.
1268
They better start backing this baby out if they’re gonna get wheels up on time.
This plane came from Panama City yesterday.
No goat or chicken encounters so far.
They may be holding plane for a late arrival. The seat next to me is the only empty seat left.
Captain informs us that he summoned Maintenance to the flight deck because “a light came on”.
Captain informs us that he summoned Maintenance to the flight deck because “a light came on”.
Oh that’s just the “Low Fuel Light” nuttin’ to worry about. 😀
“Issue on flight deck resolved. Waiting for the paperwork to be delivered.”
Doors and flight deck secured.
Yipppee. A no-show empty seat next to me.
Oh that’s just the “Low Fuel Light” nuttin’ to worry about.
Dang SD, you done won the innernet today! 😀 😀 😀
How about that? We’re getting our third Buc-ees’ on I-65 way up yonder in Athens, next door to Huntsville.
Yeah well Magnolia is getting it’s very own HEB! Opening 11/2.
#15 I wish we could get a HEB. The Pig leaves a little to be desired. I really miss their homemade tortilla’s. While in Midland SIL went to a local Mesican market and got fresh (still hot) tortilla’s for the fajita’s and man they were good. FWIW; They’re made with real lard.
Morning gang. Nice cool morning out here, and maybe some rain on the way in the next couple of days,. Things don’t change much from day to day out here – sort of like the sled dog. It just looks the same unless you are the lead dog. Have a good trip to Newark or where ever you are going this weekend. GF’s trip to Africa originated and terminated in Newark,. Nothing new to report for now, so you all have a great day. Have no fear, and live every day like it may be your last.
PS when you eat at Larry’s Corner Cafe there is a little old Mexican lady back there stamping out those tortillas as fast as she can. Of course, they are not keto, but they look and smell good.
We get the HEB tortillas all the time, we keep ‘em stock here at GJT. We have a Mexican meat market just outside the subdivision but I like HEB’s better.
Got my defensive driving class paperwork yesterday, finally, the day of my court date, though earlier than my court time. The system they have at Todd Mission is really whacked up – they won’t handle it via phone – they say go to the website which tells you to email, which they don’t respond, when they do there are more questions, which means another email, which they don’t respond to… Couple days ago I just drove down there, you guessed it, locked up.Maybe it was lunch, I don’t know.
Wanted to do what they call “Deferred Disposition” – probation, but it was over a hunnerd dollars more than DD. $252 for 48 in a 35!
Going the Defensive Driving route was $143, don’t know what the cost of the class is yet.
Son posted video of them running the “Tail of the Dragon” beginning out of Pigeon Forge, TN yesterday in his knew to him Vette. Looks fun.
The “Tail of the Dragon” is real popular for the Harley riders around here. Usually in the summer because in the fall it’s a Zoo. Everybody and his cousin is checking out the leaves turning.
#21 – So I have been told – best ‘time’ to do the Dragon =Weekday mid mornings.
And beware the crotch rockets + rookie riders not well versed in handling tight switchback corners.
*And* any truckers too dumb to know this AINT their type of road – long rigs WILL occupy the entire width of the road on some of those twisties!
Hang on!!
And beware the crotch rockets + rookie riders not well versed in handling tight switchback corners.
Yup, the Harley dudes complain about that, especially a sports car coming at them in the wrong lane.
#24 Katfish, I’d guessed that was a Ducati and then looked down at the title. 😉
In my son’s video, there was a slow moving “touring” type bike in front of them but he moved over.
This is right up SuperDave’s alley: Passive, home-built radar.
Looking at Flight Aware; Shannon is about to cross the Tennessee/Kentucky line near Knoxville. Doncha’ just love technology. 😉
#28 Bones, that is absolutely fascinating, thanks. BTW; Kraken makes fine radios, their AM radios have a super-duper ferrite core antenna that sucks in far away signals.
Ran my brain ragged on Latin last night, finally getting my butt moving. Trying to figure out my schedule for today, but first…
Good morning, C&C, and Happy Thursday! Lots of interesting stuff in today’s roundup: jury finds Darrell Brooks guilty on 76 counts; Dr. Oz springs ahead in the betting markets as Fetterman becomes a jab-injury poster child; Elon Musk prepares to become the top Twit; Twitter employees make unintentionally hilarious demands; Ben Shapiro finally learns to love vaccine hesitancy; things get weird with Russia’s claim about Ukraine’s dirty bomb; and Russia demands an emergency meeting in the UN over Ukraine biolabs.
Re Elon and Twitter – there’s a short video of him floating around on the internet, and he’s entering a building carrying a sink. I was puzzled until I heard the video caption: “Elon enters Twitter, let that sink in!”
Oh, I never expected plumbing humor….
Oh, and Shannon, please have a very safe and enjoyable trip. Want you back in one piece, despite what the pilot has planned.

I’m bringin this one forward from late last night
A quote I’d have bet a paycheck that I’d never see – much less be able to POST!
“Capitalism is a wild beast. We need to tame it,” Bono said. “But globalization has brought more people out of poverty than any other -ism. If somebody comes to me with a better idea, I’ll sign up. I didn’t grow up to like the idea that we’ve made heroes out of businesspeople, but if you’re bringing jobs to a community and treating people well, then you are a hero. That’s where I’ve ended up.”

Shannon is cruising along at 562 MPH in Northeast Virginia near DC. ETA 10:10 EDST.
Childers on his C&C post, uses his legal background to cover the Waukesha trial. He even resisted posting on it so the perp couldn’t use his posts as a cause for mistrial, so good on him. The perp actually tried to get a mistrial based on a Reddit post, so I can only imagine what he could do with a legal opinion being generated on the C&C during the trial.
As it is, “Darrel Brooks is a monster, an evil demon, and he will be sentenced to life in prison, since Wisconsin does not permit the death penalty. I hope he finds salvation before he dies.” I agree. As a Catholic, I believe there is a purgatory and there is a price to pay before a just Lord for our sins. If Brooks does find salvation, he’ll do his stint to cleanse his soul before entering Heaven. That could take a while.
I hope that my family doesn’t fail to pray for me after I die. There is so little talk of last things in our churches today, because the idea of Hell or Purgatory are so….uncomfortable. And that’s just how Satan likes it.
And on the topic of perps, Childers blames the low-bail judge that let this monster out:
According to a Fox News article about the story, in 2007 Chisholm admitted that his liberal bail policies would lead to additional crimes. “Is there going to be an individual I divert, or I put into treatment program, who’s going to go out and kill somebody?” Chisholm reportedly told the Milwaukee Sentinel-Journal. “You bet. Guaranteed. It’s guaranteed to happen. It does not invalidate the overall approach.”
Yes, John, it DOES invalidate the overall approach. You’re guiltier than Brooks. You should be in prison for life, too.
I don’t even think I can add to that. The judge KNEW this was likely to happen, but he’s a lib, so….
I hadn’t put two and two together regarding Uncle Fester’s stroke:
But Fetterman’s shot-stroke crippled more than just his mind; it also debilitated his candidacy and probably his political career. In hindsight, the democrats should have replaced him immediately after his stroke in April, while there was still time. It’s a sign of how strong a candidate he was that they pinned their hopes on a recovery.
It was a horrible mistake. The problem is, Fetterman ISN’T recovering. He’s getting worse.
The whole nation watched John Fetterman first advocate for shots, then get jabbed, then stroke out, then stumble for words through an entire, critical, high-visibility Senatorial campaign. Fetterman is the most visible, most often seen (and heard) vaccine victim. The democrats should pray John DOESN’T win, or else he’ll continue being a walking billboard for jab injuries for six more years in the Senate.
I feel sorry for Fetterman, on one level. Anybody struggling with a stroke has got to be feeling pain, physical and emotional. To be put out in public and ridiculed is harsh. (When I meditate on the rosary mysteries, Jesus’ feelings about ‘his people’ rejecting him is one of the things upon which I ponder.) To have his disabilities on full display has to be personally painful.
I disagree with him politically, and I see him as a danger in any governmental office, but on a personal level…having his problems paraded in public and having his (dis)abilities dissected as if he’s not in the room has to be hard. I hope he eventually heals. But after his electoral window closes.
Kathryn Limbaugh confirms to me that yes, Rush Limbaugh’s death certificate actually lists his occupation as “Radio’s Greatest of All Time”: “It was a way to tweak the media as a final goodbye from Rush.”
Re: Elon Musk and the sink/Twitter deal
It’s been a long, strange road, and Musk’s ability to actually close the deal was uncertain until this week. Late last week, the rumors were that the Biden administration was pulling out the stops to block the sale. But then over the weekend, this happened:
Now, if Elon Musk were my client, and he told me that the White House was asking for help with Biden’s new color revolution in Iran, and was needing a satellite or two, I would have told Elon to lead off the negotiations with, “first you have to back off my Twitter deal.”
And what do you know? Three days later, Iranian rebels report their Starlink is working great, and Elon is strolling confidently into Twitter headquarters carrying a random piece of disconnected plumbing. Those satellites have been pretty handy.
Interesting.
Then, the Twitter children bigots loons employees sent a demand letter to Musk, demanding protections from him for all of their “protected groups,” including – get this! – “political orientation”! Oh, that’s rich! They spent all of their time spanking and restricting conservatives, but now that they may be in the crosshairs?! POINT: Elon has *always* said that he wanted a free speech platform, which would include liberal as well as conservative views. But then, when one is used to backstabbing people for a living, that’s indicative of how one thinks in general.
Isn’t it hilarious how Millennials view non-discrimination as a “safety” issue? The poor little darlings need a safe space. Second, you couldn’t possible overstate the IRONY that these employees — most of whom enthusiastically work in Twitter’s political censorship department — are now suddenly demanding to be protected from viewpoint discrimination.
/snip
Anyway, I don’t want to oversell this story. The letter was bravely signed “Twitter workers,” which could just be one lily-livered, zoom-masked numbskull terrified about having to go into the office.
I’ve always been a Ben Shapiro fan, though I don’t always agree with him. He has his manhood intact, and has no problem backing up his views with facts and not emotion. I love watching him take on college students and eviscerating their liberal arguments with truth. It’s a thing of beauty.
But his stance on the shots was something that I lamented, but now…
Fast-talking conservative radio host Ben Shapiro ruffled many conservative feathers during the pandemic (including mine) when he started publicly advocating for the shots. He’s often been described as “an outspoken advocate” for the jabs, making him a conservative outlier.
The PostMillennial ran a story yesterday headlined, “’We Were Lied to by Everyone:’ Ben Shapiro Walks Back Support for Covid Vaccine.”
What really seems to have finally gotten through to Ben was the October 10th admission by a Pfizer executive that the drugmaker never actually tested whether the shots would reduce transmission of the virus. Now … Ben finally gets it. On his Tuesday show, he expressed shock and dismay at all the lies:
/snip
“It is now perfectly clear that we were lied to. And we were lied to at a very high level and from very, very early on by both the vaccine companies, in terms of the ability of the vaccine to prevent transmission, and … by our politicians who apparently knew better.”
/snip
I’m confident a lot of you are thinking, too late, Ben! And I don’t blame you…. while I wish he’d been open to considering the developing data last year, I recognize that he can still greatly help the movement with his platform, his voice, and his intellect.
I feel that way because I know a lot of other smart people… who also fell for the government’s medical fairy tale, just like Ben did. Some of those folks are starting to come around, too, and I’m happy to have them back.
We are going to have to figure out what to do with all these people…but who now recognize their mistake. As a Christian, I’m required to give them grace, the same grace I’ve received. But there’s a practical reason to forgive them, too.
The practical reason is that we are going to need them for the next part: making sure this never happens again.
I’m just hoping that Ben doesn’t suffer from fatal myocarditis in a few years. His family may have also gotten the jab, and that means his kids may suffer. Hopefully they are in the population that does okay. Ben has a powerful voice, and it’s nice to have him “woke” up now.
As I’ve said before, I don’t have a problem with those who used the government’s data to make their pro-jab choice. They were lied to, using the only source of information provided. It’s not their fault they were lied to.
But those hysterical Karens with their virtue signaling and mass hysteria…yeah, they owe all of us a big apology.
Then Childers goes into Russia claiming that Ukraine will detonate a dirty bomb – in Chernobyl. It seems the media is blacking out anything about the Chernobyl claim. I guess if you’re politically correct and supporting Ukraine, any mention of them setting off a dirty bomb would go against the grain.
Here ya’ go, Squawk:
The second weird thing is that it’s Chernobyl. Well, maybe it’s weird, or maybe not. I’ve been remembering I heard a sermon about ten years ago on the Book of the Revelation, and the pastor was talking about the odd moment when Revelation describes “Star Wormwood:”
Then the third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star burning like a torch fell from heaven and landed on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter like wormwood oil, and many people died from the bitter waters.
Revelation 8:10-11.
In Ukrainian, the word “Chernobyl” is a name for mugwort, a species of artemesia — which is also known as common wormwood. Revelation’s “star burning like a torch” could easily describe a missile, and “fell from heaven” can also be translated as “fell from the sky.”
Who knows. Either way, I’d sure feel a lot better if the Russians and Ukrainians would stop fighting with nukes over a molten nuclear disaster site buried under a giant concrete and lead coffin.
Maybe it’s about time we should consider shutting down the money-laundering proxy war? I’m just saying.
Russia is lifting the skirts of the US and showing everyone what’s underneath:
On Tuesday, Russia invoked Article VI of the Biological Weapons Convention in the United Nations, requiring a hearing in the Security Council in two days to debate establishing “a commission to investigate alleged violations of the convention prohibiting the production or use of biological weapons by Ukraine and the United States.”
Russian ambassador Vassily Nebenzia circulated a draft resolution ahead of a meeting set for today (Thursday), along with “a variety of documents and evidence that shed light on the true nature of military biological activities of the US and Ukraine on the Ukrainian territory.”
/snip
Moscow alleges that the U.S. and Ukraine conducted secretive, joint biological research on Ukrainian soil, and says it has unearthed incriminating evidence of those illegal activities during the ongoing special military operation. The Russian Defense Ministry has been gradually releasing some of those materials in batches since at least March.
Russia has some proposals for the international world to consider, read the C&C for details.
And I wish the Republicans in Congress would advocate for more transparency over biolabs like Wuhan and whatever else we have going on in Eastern Europe’s crack house, I mean Ukraine.
I agree. We don’t need another Wuhan lab situation. Ever again.
Katfish: Re Bono accepting capitalism as a way of lifting folks out of poverty
I remember Rush saying that we needed to export capitalism instead of goods and money to poor countries.
I totally agree.
Arrived.
#31 SD: I thought you would like that one.
I found this interesting tidbit in the C&C comments:
In effect, they were ‘idiots.’
‘ The interesting fact is that in antiquity, writers used the word as it is used in English and not in modern Greek.
Historian Xenophon, for example, considered the word “idiot” to mean an individual who is inexperienced, uneducated, ignorant, not qualified to participate in political affairs or hold public office. It seems that this ancient derogatory meaning was adopted by modern Europeans to come to the notion of stupid.
This derogatory meaning stems from the ancient Greeks’ perception that all citizens should actively participate in political and public life. Those who did not want or were not able to do so were considered second-class citizens.’
https://en.protothema.gr/idiot-what-does-the-word-mean-and-how-it-has-changed-from-ancient-greece/
I’ve often felt that there is a group of people who should not participate in politics. If you can’t name the president, VP, speaker; know who your local representatives are; cannot give cogent arguments why you support your reps; can’t give your reasons for supporting capitalism, communism, etc….
I watch these “on the street” interviews where bimbos and duck face dudes laugh off their ignorance and yet they stand in line to vote. And they vote based on political correctness, or the way their friends do, or because Whoopsi said to vote this way…
Line ’em up and let me slap the ever-lovin’ crap outta each and every one of them. Don’t vote my granddaughters into servitude because you can’t take the time to stop giggling and learn stuff.

I was confused by that as well. Seems Bono is partway there, but not fully.

The heart of the Deep State Swamp is the bureaucracy and the swarm of regulators. Congress, with the upcoming R majority (please G-D) needs to use the power of the purse to roll back the 1.7 trillion in regulatory costs the deep stat is imposing on us.

GJT
I do not think Bonehead is even partway there. He says “C” has to be TAMED it is a wild beast. That is about as anticapitalist as one can get. I would like to hear his explanation of how globalization lifts anyone out of poverty. that conversation would be good for a beer and a bag of chips as I listen.

From KF’s #32 link, he did say:
Bono, the lead singer of U2, said that he has realized the redistribution of resources won’t help poor people the way that commerce and entrepreneurial capitalism will help them.
The iconic musician and humanitarian made the comments during an interview with the New York Times published Monday. He talked about starting out as a left-wing activist but eventually realizing that capitalism helps the most poor people.
He has one tippy toe on the other side, just can’t quite take the leap.

Peterbilt showcases its new SuperTruck
https://www.ccjdigital.com/trucks/article/15302177/peterbilt-showcases-its-new-super-truck
As promised yesterday evening.
Natural gas prices at the Waha hub in West Texas fell into negative territory Oct.25, 2022, as surging Permian basin production collided with offtake constraints. Spot market pricing for next-day delivery dropped as low as -$2.25/MMbtu. Front-month Henry Hub-basis NYMEX futures transacted at $5.613/MMbtu on the same day.
Ongoing repairs at Freeport LNG’s 2.1-bcfd plant on the Texas coast have removed it as a destination for Permian gas. At the same time, scheduled maintenance on Kinder Morgan’s 2-bcfd Gulf Coast Express pipeline, which delivers Permian supplies to South Texas liquefaction plants and pipeline export markets, has reduced its capacity.
Westward and southbound gas shipment routes out of the Permian have also been constrained. Maintenance on Kinder Morgan’s El Paso Natural Gas Line 2000 has dropped westward shipments by 200-300 MMcfd. Softening demand for southbound deliveries into Mexico since May have also reduced shipments on Energy Transfer Partners LP’s 1.4-bcfd Trans-Pecos Pipeline.
Good morning, all. Finally got some chilly going on in H-town.
Crude, gasoline, & distillate inventories.
US crude oil inventories for the week ended Oct. 21, excluding the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, increased by 2.6 million bbl from the previous week, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration.
At 439.9 million bbl, US crude oil inventories are about 2% below the 5-year average for this time of year, the EIA report indicated.
EIA said total motor gasoline inventories decreased by 1.5 million bbl from last week and are about 6% below the 5-year range for this time of year. Finished gasoline inventories decreased but blending component inventories increased. Distillate fuel inventories increased by 200,000 bbl and are about 20% below the 5-year average for this time of year.

Taking aim at the West, Vladimir Putin warns the world faces its most ‘dangerous decade’
The Russian president said the West was “desperately” trying to govern humanity, and that his country was “trying to defend its right to exist.”
The situation was “to a certain extent revolutionary”, he said, describing the Ukraine offensive as simply part of the “tectonic shifts of the entire world order”.
“The historical period of undivided dominance of the West in world affairs is coming to an end,” said Mr Putin. “The unipolar world is becoming a thing of the past.”
While the West was still “desperately” trying to govern humanity, it was not able to. “Most peoples of the world no longer want to put up with it,” he said.
And the Russian president characterised the current crisis as a battle for survival for Russia.
And now a message form our sponsors

Didja’ make the cigar store with the walk-in Humidor? Google maps shows it to be about 2 miles from Texpat’s place.
There’ll Be No Thanksgiving
But Bones promised me half a turkey breast. And some trimmings.
FWIW; I may have really screwed up. I headed up to Troy today and stopped off at the tractor place to ask them about “Lane Shark”. Like what do they know about them and would my wimpy 7 GPM hydraulic system run the thing like they say it will. Well, he says I have one in stock and yes it’ll work fine after you get the third function valve added to your hydraulic manifold. SO in the morning I’ll be out in the west forty digging, looking for another pot of money buried out there. 😀
Tomorrow, it’s the cigar store and The United States Military Academy, also known as West Point – 50 miles north of New York City. Situated on the site of an old fort overlooking the Hudson River from a strategic high point.
SD, never heard of a Lane Shark but looks very handy. I think I’d want a grapple if I had a third function.
I think for Christmas I’m asking for a set of edge tamers, mostly meant for snow removal but I’m thinking it could be helpful in picking up leaves and spreading dirt. I wanna 3 point rake but they’re damned expensive for no more than what they are.
Maybe he meant Land Shark.
Nite all.
Lane Shark. Get it, make a lane in the trees?
Can’t believe that thing would pass whatever safety regulations there are for tractor implements, thing looks nasty with a fool at the controls. Maybe since they put a sticker saying not California EPA approved it’s all good.

I looked ahead on the weather report for tomorrow and right now the forecast is dreadful for my 2:30 pm appointment for my Medicare Fall checkup. Due to something causing a flooding in the building where my Doc’s group works, they are currently making do in a different building at Mem-H Greater Heights. So they are in the original tallest building, which is attached to the original parking garage — I think I’ll be dry at the destination.

Shannon, I loved SNL “Land Shark” back when comedy was still legal.
Oh and GJT, thanks for posting the video, one of the best I’ve seen but the dude didn’t show the tilt down for the side of a bank. Looking at the mower when it’s extended to the side you can see 3 holes for the stop pin 90, 30 and 45 degrees so it’ll tilt down to mow a bank. I wish he’d have shown that since he mentioned that function at the end of the video.
For ole Dave, that video about sealed the deal,..now where did I put my shovel? Might need my metal detector. 😀
How much to install the third function?
TGIF Folks!
World Series TONIGHT!
GOOOOOOOOOOOOO ‘STROS!
SD, this is a comment on my BX group, don’t know if it applies to your model. Apparently there is quite a difference in brands. Seems it would be pretty important to be able to use all functions at once.
I have the one from summit. I purchased it last winter for $579. It was a fairly easy install. Dealer wanted $1100 for factory kit which in my opinion doesn’t work as well. The summit one you can use all 3 functions at once. The factory can not. Check out biffs equipment he installs one on his 2370.
GJT the third function is ridiculously expensive, $1200 + $300 to install. As far as the three functions working at the seam time they will, IF you have enough GPM so if the mower is spinning, the other functions will be sluggish, not the fault of the equipment but that the tractor was designed with a 7 GPM hydraulic system that was only expected to be used for up/down/tilt and a third function for a grapple or something.
FWIW; I couldn’t believe that a 6 port manifold and electronic valve kit could be $1200 Bucks! $500 would be more like it.
GJT, FWIW; I’ve been kinda’ wanting a grapple but have not been able to justify it but once I have the third function I may revisit it.
