More bad news on the FBI,from the Washington Examiner:
FBI whistleblowers: Hundreds of agents have resigned to escape sexual misconduct allegations
A top Republican senator revealed whistleblower allegations and internal Justice Department records showing that, in an effort to avoid being held accountable, hundreds of employees at the FBI either resigned or retired from the bureau after being accused of sexual misconduct.
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) made his findings public in a Thursday letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray, stating that the allegations and records “paint a disgraceful picture of abuse that women within the FBI have had to live with” for years.
“Lawful, protected whistleblower disclosures provided to my office include allegations and records that show hundreds of FBI employees have retired or resigned because of sexual misconduct allegations against them and that they did so in order to avoid accountability,” Grassley said. “This abuse and misconduct is outrageous and beyond unacceptable.”
/snip
The results of that DOJ investigation found that, from 2004 until the end of the review, 665 FBI employees, including 45 Senior Executive Service-level employees, “have retired or resigned” following an FBI or DOJ inspector general investigation “into alleged misconduct, but prior to the Office of Professional Responsibility’s issuance of a final disciplinary letter.”
The FBI involved in scandal? Treating women badly? Not being accountable?
Well, color me shocked.

I am really enjoying watching a chapter or two of The Jewel in the Crown while I eat my supper, in my TV chair with 20+ y.o. Millie asleep in my lap. It’s on 3 video tapes, so there is possibly 18 hours of it, I’ll just find out when it ends as I go from day to day. I just put tape #3 in tonight. After I finish this, I’ll consider some of the other video tapes I have on a shelf in my TV room. I used to watch a soap opera that I’ve been taping for about… Read more »
Oh and #236 Dang y’all did good.

Shucks, Super Dave – it was just a fluke…
Kilt the Blog, that’s my job but I was busy elsewhere. That said ya’ done good. 😀
#230 GJT – did what? Put everyone to sleep???
BSue did it.
#163 MHarper42 – I just scrolled back up and realized I never answered your question about cooking/collecting… We used to collect vintage cookie jars, until the space above our kitchen cabinets got full. I have a number of vintage kitchen utensils that Mama had, and a glass hand-cranked butter churn that was my Daddy’s mother’s…
I was deciding what to microwave for my supper, and noticed the 3 cats asleep on their towels on the breakfast room table perked up, even though they had their supper an hour and a half ago. I commented in their direction “How about some crunchitos?” and Lynx made an approving sound in cat-speak. That caused the 2 other cats to also come running to the kitchen.
Wha’d she say?
I am smiling from the exuberant humor in evidence this evening.
Great nap, backyard critters fed, printed a clean copy of this morning’s sudoku and had it worked in 40 minutes which surely beats my average for the Sunday puzzle. Makes me wonder if I should consider doing something else while I drink my big coffee on Sunday morning, and save that puzzle for later in the day.

HMMMMM Lemme see.

Yup. You earned the button. Good on ya.
Dang I’ve got some catching up to do but sister is still here. She came over for some oyster stew and found out that I’d made a dozen deviled eggs also. I gave her half of what we had left to take home.
I’ve been trying to buy a set since they were $100 bucks, I guess I missed my chance. If you find a set there is almost always one missing, usually the small blue one.
Home buyers will think they are in a superior position if they are paying cash, I’m paying cash I should get 20K off the listing price! Well, no, buyer is going to get full payment whether you are financing or cash. It does go into the equation that you will most likely close quicker, and there is always the possibility of a no-inspection or a light inspection, but it doesn’t carry the weight people think it does.
Is that under 3 inches? Check
Red ink? No
Lime green? No
This post has been cleared to post.

Prolly correctomundo. It just struck me as uber odd to have a credit check for paying cash. I know he had skeins of paper work to fill out I can see grabbing info from the check to fill those blanks out.
Say you walk into a dealership and decide to take a test drive on some vehicle. Oh, that’s perfectly alright, sir, it’s a rule here we have to make a copy of your driver’s license. License copied, into the test drive truck, y’all drive around and before you get back they know the names of your third cousins, your account balances, your ex-wives credit ratings, all about the insurance claim on that Camaro you totaled when you were 19 years old…and your credit rating. Whether you pay cash, finance or crypto – they know all about you. They’re going to… Read more »
212 Squawk A lot of dealerships, maybe most these days, will run a credit check on anybody who gets past the tire-kicking stage. All they need is your name and address. SS# or anything else is not required. They can run a “light” credit check that doesn’t show up to you on your report to see what you look like. That didn’t used to be possible in the old days. A lot of people think it’s clever to go into a dealership and tell them up front, “I’m a cash buyer”. They believe they can negotiate a better deal. Unfortunately,… Read more »
RED AND LIME GREEN
He used red and lime green ink!!! I’m tellin!
214 TexMo…. Hmmmmm…. If he did, he’s kept it hidden from me
#213 BSue, you mean he didn’t get a nice, heavy, metal keychain with the dealer’s name & logo?
211/212 – He just wanted to know if you deserved a license plate holder with the dealership’s name on it 😉
Knowing I was going to pay cash.
Texpat
NOPE he did a credit check. He showed me the report and the numbers.
Squawk
It was an identity verification – not a credit check.
They just wanted to stall you while they filed the form because a lot of people get hot under the collar when they hear they are being reported to the IRS. They’ll walk out and kill the deal even though it’s federal law. If they don’t file the 8300 form with the transaction, the dealership is in for a big fine. I’ve been involved.

Good grief. I will reserve FEAR MONGERING rant for later.
Texmo
Honestly the salesman told me he had to do a credit check on me and was very apologetic about it. I just wanted to get the deal done and never thought to ask why. I have paid cash for many large ticket items including motorcycle and was neve checked. I think Texpat may have hit on it with the money laundering part. oh well.

TexMo and Squawk From the IRS. Generally, any person in a trade or business who receives more than $10,000 in cash in a single transaction or related transactions must complete a Form 8300, Report of Cash Payments Over $10,000 Received in a Trade or BusinessPDF. Form 8300 is a joint form issued by the IRS and the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) and is used by the government to track individuals that evade taxes and those who profit from criminal activities. Although the cash reporting requirements apply to many types of businesses, auto dealerships frequently receive cash in excess of $10,000… Read more »
Man I really miss that Chrysler 300 SRT. It was the perfect sleeper car. Despite all the repairs and headaches, it somehow never left me stranded. I think it was only a matter of time until it did.
Chrysler has stopped selling the 300 SRT in the U.S. You have to go the Charger, Challenger, Durango route to get your big displacement fix.
Of those six purchases, only one was valued over $10k. I had the cashier’s check for the full amount of the car plus TTL. They still made me sit with the finance guy so he could sell me an extended warranty. I actually bought that warranty and it is one that actually more than paid for itself. I ended up charging the extended warranty to a credit card.
I’ll never forget the expression on the bank teller’s face. They were simply amazed that anyone would buy a car without a loan. It was simply unfathomable to them.
Thanks for the CLR tip.
Squawk I’ve purchased three vehicles and three motorcycles with cash, check, or cashier’s check. No credit check required by the three I purchased from a dealer.
If it was over 10K, they were filing a form with the IRS to flag you as a money laundering drug smuggler. It’s the law, doncha know. Seriously. They asked you for credit info just to correctly identify you.
(POSSIBLE FEAR MONGERING)
Hey Texpat
Did you ever pay cash for a car? I was sitting here thinking when I bought my Highlander after the wreck, I paid cash. I found it strange they had to do a credit check on me to sell me a car for cash. Thoughts?
I cannot allow this day to pass without noting this historical event in honor of Hamous who was dedicated to preserving the horror of this depraved, evil man.
Yeah, that’s Che Guevara in Bolivia and he is dead and he’s been that way for 55 years. Thank God.

I saw that story. It made sick.
I used to wanted to visit Maine again, no mas. I did not see if the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital suggested duct tape or not. We are in trouble folks.
Texpat great find on Klaus Schwab.
130 distinct types of trolls?

Shannon,
Are you using this product, CLR Brilliant Bath ? It’s specifically says it can be used on granite. The old CLR calcium/lime/rust remover wouldn’t be a good idea on granite.
I see from Texpat’s #178 that he is lost in the past with those antiquated ideas of American exceptionalism. He has failed to keep up with the Woke Times to acknowledge that tomorrow we celebrate Indigenous People’s Day! Yes those same indigenous people that who suffered painful deaths from Smallpox brought by the vile sailors aboard the Nina, Pinta, & Santa Maria. 😉
yo Brother Squawk.
I’ll catch that bird fer ya.
I am a fear monger.
Did you know there are at least 130 identifiable internet trolls and over 20 years of moderating (I AM RETIRED) several blogs I have seen them all.
All my weekend chores are fait accompli, and done before my back started complaining again like yesterday. Now time for a well-deserved Sunday nap.
