George’s Worst Ever Nightmare

*******************************

In the past five years, a cadre of fact-checkers has marched through the institutions of journalism and installed itself in the U.S. media as a privatized, quasi-governmental regulatory agency. What’s wrong with facts, you say? Fueled by a panic over misinformation, the fact-checking industry is shifting the media’s primary obligation away from pursuing the truth and toward upholding vague notions of public safety, which it gets to define. In the course of this transformation, journalists are being turned into rent-a-cops whose job is to enforce an official consensus that is treated as a civic good by those who benefit from—and pay for—its protection.

and,

You may wonder why Facebook’s designated fact-checker for a claim about inflation in the United States is a state-backed French agency, or who determines how many experts are required to issue a ruling—and what qualifications make one an “expert.” All fine questions to have asked five or six years ago when the planet-sized logical inconsistencies might still have been a liability. At this point, it’s like arguing that America’s tax laws don’t make sense. The industrial fact-checking complex is not a debate society or a branch of science pursuing the truth wherever it leads. It’s an institutional fixture with hundreds of millions of dollars in funding behind it, along with battalions of NGOs and formerly broke journalistic authorities who are more than happy to cash fat checks and proclaim that America’s ruling bureaucrats at the FDA, the CDC, the FBI, the CIA, the Fed—and the entire alphabet soup of government agencies—along with the ruling Democratic Party, are never wrong about anything, at least nothing important.

please read on,

Yet in reality, when it comes to benefiting from state censorship, Democrats and Republicans are not created equal. Another driving force behind the growth of the fact-checking complex is the necessity of enforcing loyalty to progressive ideas that can’t survive on their own. Stripped of their specialized language and social and bureaucratic context, key articles of Progressive Church faith are repulsive to most ordinary voters, regardless of gender or race. That is true of the racialized approach to education that was just roundly rejected by San Francisco parents in recent school board elections. It is also true of calls to defund the police, to teach transgender ideology to kindergarteners, and of approaches to addiction that appear to promote continued drug use. Policies that Biden administration officials would have boasted about in front of an audience of academics and public health administrators sound different—meaning, crazy—to people who have not been socialized to accept professional class bullsh*t. That’s where the fact-checkers come in with their tin badges and unearned air of authority. They can declare that a story is not merely mistaken or overwrought but dangerously defective—because we, the fact-checkers, paid by the tech giants and NGOs that are in turn funded by a seemingly endless tide of dark money from billionaires who want to be woke, or at least buy a woke insurance policy, said so.

Morning gang.  A cool 42 degrees out here this morning, which is a few degrees above the predicted low for the night.  I left my mater plants outside, so hopefully they were able to handle the temp with no problem.  The early forecast for tonight is 37, so I probably will bring them all in this evening.  We’re just a few days before my self imposed planting date of April 1, and I would hate for them to all blow up just before that time,.

I’m looking at a busy week coming up next week.  A trip to Marble Falls for doctor checkups, then a trip to Dallas for BFF’s wake along with other designated related chores while I am there.  So that will just about eliminate my gasoline budget for a while.

But first, before I get too deep into the upcoming plans, it’s time for some Larry’s Table Of Knowledge coffee.  You all have a great day, and more later after the sun come up and my brains starts to function.  More later.

    #106 from last night:
This is the definition of “hot news” and needs to be brought forward for another round of discussion.

The documents uncover a sixteen-month clandestine campaign against journalists in which the DOJ obtained 7 secret orders, warrants and subpoenas from six magistrates within the Southern District of New York.

Strip these miscreants of their immunity and prosecute them for serial violations of basic civil rights. They did it and are still doing it to Trump, what they did to PV is inexcusable in any circumstance; who knows just how bad this has been and will become? These magistrates engaged in criminal behavior and need to do the dance at the end of a rope.

Has anyone else noticed that whenever the left wants to go after the right (because the left can’t compete fairly) they use the SDNY to accomplish their objectives? How about fire and prosecute everybody at the management level and above, break up the SDNY and move it out of state?

This seems to be a novel idea.

    From the Redo Voting website:

Redo Voting is a hybrid of existing secure document technology used by state lotteries, combined with government-level encryption. The result is a voting system that is paper-based, but uses a web browser for data entry. A great example of this is your state’s lottery program. 45 states currently have a state-wide lottery, and because of the massive amounts of money that pass through that system the security is the best available this side of military encryption. If that were “hackable,” billions would be stolen on a regular basis; but it does not happen. We use the same technology and processes. ”

You may not yet have heard about the brilliance of Redo Voting, but it’s the latest rage in Washington, D.C. Everyone is talking about it.

You’ve heard a lot about “chain of custody” problems in the 2020 election. With Redo Voting, chain of custody is no longer an issue. It is 100% guaranteed from the printer right through exhaustion of post-election excuses. You cast your vote on a secure .gov domain website, and no one but you touches your ballot.

Of the many tornadoes that ripped across Texas yesterday, according to the NWS, one of them near Beasley was only 30 yards wide and on the ground for 0.8 miles and took out a mobile home.

HEADLINE: Illinois Town “Issue[s] 62 Tickets to an Elderly Couple for Having Lawn Chairs in Their Front Yard”

    /snip
The Village of Melrose Park decided that it would be a good idea to issue 62 tickets to an elderly couple for having lawn chairs in their front yard. The Village issued ticket after ticket, imposing fine after fine, to two eighty-year-old residents, Plaintiffs Vincent and Angeline Cozzi.

The fines were not small potatoes. Each ticket cost $500, so the Village tagged them with fines totaling about $30,000. And when it was all said and done, the Village slapped them with a lien on their house, for good measure.

The tickets faulted the Cozzis for creating a nuisance and for “unsanitary conditions.” The tickets did not explain what was unsanitary about the plastic lawn chairs. But the Village claimed that they were receiving anonymous calls about “clutter” on their front lawn.
    /snip
{The fact that the Village wasn’t ticketing anyone else wasn’t for lack of opportunities. The complaint is chock-full of pictures of other houses in the neighborhood. The surrounding lawns are adorned with used mattresses, a 15-foot skeleton with a Santa hat, garbage, and trampolines. There are reindeer, swans, candy canes, stars, pergolas, tchotchkes, and Christmas decorations at various degrees of garishness. Not to mention plenty of lawn furniture.

What were those lawns missing [according to the Complaint]? Tickets.
    /snip
The toxicity increased when Michael Cozzi attended a public meeting at the Village in January 2021. Cozzi intended to express his concerns to the Mayor about the treatment of his elderly parents. He came to the meeting after attending other Village meetings, and after expressing his concerns on social media.

That’s when Mayor Serpico completely lost it. He lost his cool. He lost his temper. And if he has any ability to express himself without using expletives, he lost that too.

Mayor Serpico spewed the following missive: “I’m going to tell you something, you’re really reaching me. So, do me a f*cking favor and sit down and shut the f*ck up. How’s that? You little f*cking pr*ck. Go on, shake your f*cking head. You’re nothing but a f*cking punk.”

Michael Cozzi responded with a simple question: “What did I do to you?” That innocent question sent Mayor Serpico into the next stratosphere.

What he lacked in elegance—and in range of vocabulary—he made up for in directness: “You’re a jag off! You look like a f*cking shine {a disparaging term for a black person} on 15th [avenue] because you’re doing it to bust f*cking balls. That’s what your doing. So, go f*ck yourself. Go f*ck yourself!”

    RTWDT

The mayor belongs in prison. For ever. The elderly couple in question should never have to worry about finances again.

This morning, I write to you from the rainy, foggy mountains of Tennessee – but absent a working laptop. In other words, I’ve experienced a technological setback. So that you won’t be stuck waiting for a post that never arrives, I’m dictating this short post to you on my iPhone. We’ll see how it goes.

    COVID NEWS AND COMMENTARY

Great news! Covid deaths are falling! Various non-corporate-media sources reported this week that the CDC quietly reduced its official COVID-19 death count by about -70,000 folks, including shedding a full quarter of its prized pediatric deaths, for accuracy, citing “logic errors.” I am not making that up. The CDC’s data tracker website explained:

“On March 15, 2022, data on deaths were adjusted after resolving a coding logic error. This resulted in decreased death counts across all demographic categories.”

Oh! Now, they really shouldn’t make it this easy for me. Logic errors? WHAT logic? Hahahahaha! Don’t blame me for suspecting politics instead of a virginally pure desire to get it just right.

The story joins a raft of similar stories from state governments around the country which are also “fixing” their own overcounts of deaths. And it’s always the same direction. Down.

This isn’t a good look for the public health team. You’re thinking, wait, this PROVES what we’ve been saying all along, that deaths were routinely being over counted. We TOLD them not to count those lightning strikes and motorcycle crashes, but they just wouldn’t listen. Now they look like morons and and have to fix their work.

It’s all perfectly true, of course, they ARE morons, but that’s not the real takeaway.

The real takeaway is: public health experts can’t even do basic math right.
Seriously, what are they good for?

Don’t answer that. Another – better – question is, why now?
My guess is that to shrink the way deaths will be counted going forward, they have to backfill the original counts.

Think about it. You can easily turn a limp ordinary flu season into a fully-erect fake pandemic just by exaggerating the numbers and then constantly reporting the exaggerated number. Then, when you’re ready, you can just as easily make your exaggerated pandemic disappear by revising the ongoing numbers back down to something like a regular flu season. Ta-da! It’s so simple. A child could do it.

We’ll, a democrat child. If a Republican were in office, the CDC would never, not ever, be allowed to get away with something like this without the media painfully dissecting it in wall-to-wall 24 / 7 coverage for weeks, or longer. It would be a scandal of Watergate proportions.

Anyway, we’ll take the win. It’s another Covid miracle! Deaths aren’t just falling, they are falling retroactively. It’s Joe Biden’s miraculous medical time machine.

I won’t know till tomorrow whether a new laptop is in the cards. Hang tight. See you then, with another quick update.

Just canceled the power to our sold river property, effective about……NOW.

I called the tenant there and gave her two days’ notice to stock up on water. The electricity we cut off powers the well on the property. The past few bills were under $2, but (1) not our responsibility, and (2) they are starting to build, which means they’ll be tapping into the meter soon for their tools – the bill will go up.

I made the effort to provide the buyers all the (confusing) info on the multiple meters on the property after the sale. I called him to follow up. That was back in January. He’s had plenty of time.

Hubby is going downtown to cancel the water account on our big property – the new owners are dragging their feet there, too. Next up will be cancelling the gas for the hot water. I believe the power was finally transferred into their name. Hubby finally got to talk directly to the new manager, and she is frustrated with the owners, too. Cutting off their utilities might get them to take action. Having eleven units screaming for water – hot or cold – may get their attention.

Buyers need to be responsible for their own properties.

  16. Tedtam Avatar

…and since the river buyers have gutted the main buildings, I guess the tenant in the front unit’s son will have to find some new place to hang out and do drugs with his friends.

He’d been breaking into the front unit and using the leftover furniture we had stashed there from MIL’s estate to create his own drug den. We found the paraphernalia. Mom insisted her son would never do that, that it must be someone coming up from the river.

She’s a very, very nice lady, but her son has her so hoodwinked. No one is so blind as one who refuses to see.

And I hope the workers lock up all their tools…no need to ask me why I say this, I’m sure.

I remember that Navy doctor trying to raise the alarm:

Horowitz: More VAERS-reported vaccine deaths in our military than COVID deaths

It is now abundantly clear from numerous data points that the shots have caused unimaginable injury among the general population. Military doctors have come forward to show the enormity of this damage in the military, yet the military has chosen to cover it up and tamper with their own health surveillance data in order to conceal the magnitude of the injury. Meanwhile, new data presented in a Florida federal court on behalf of a Navy SEAL demonstrates that, at a minimum, more people died from the shot than from COVID.

    /snip

The military VAERS data was initially discovered by Dr. Jessica Rose, a biologist and mathematician who has likely published more information on VAERS than anyone in the world. VAERS has a box to check for those in the military to select upon submission, and she counted 127 reported deaths stemming from service members in 2021.

This safety signal from the universal reporting system is the most significant evidence to date that the DMED (Defense Medical Epidemiology Data) specifically monitoring the military, as originally presented by the whistleblowers, was correct when it showed a massive surge in injuries ranging from neurological and cardio to cancers and immune disorders. According to the military, though, the 2016-2020 baseline used by the whistleblowers was plagued by a glitch just at the time these military doctors pulled the information (not before and not after!) and the numbers for those years were always as high as those in 2021. The problem is that the VAERS data, by definition, indicate that 2021 had to have experienced a surge in injuries. ….

    /snip

Again, with VAERS being woefully underreported, especially in the military with so much pressure against speaking ill of the injections, it makes sense that the diagnosis codes in DMED would be exponentially higher. Given the unprecedented vaccine injuries that we already have seen in the civilian world, and as indicated by the VAERS death and hospitalization data, it would make sense that there was a 37% increase in military hospitalizations in 2021 over the five-year average, as presented by the whistleblowers in the court case.

    /snip

If you extrapolate the numbers for a full 12-month period, it would show a 2% decrease in hospitalizations over the five-year average. So the military would have us believe that not only did the baseline degree of vaccine injury we already know occurred in the civilian world not exist in the military, but they are essentially saying that COVID itself never made an appearance! Here we have the military expelling soldiers for not getting a shot for a virus they claim, based on their “new” data, never touched the health of the service members.

    /snip

Meanwhile, the plaintiffs called three military flight surgeons, Lt. Col. Peter Chambers, Lt. Col. Teresa Long, and Col. (Ret.) Stewart Tankersley, to the stand to discuss their experience treating mass vaccine injury in the military. When Liberty Counsel’s Mat Staver asked Lt. Col. Long a question about the DMED, she said, “I have been ordered not to answer that question.” Judge Merryday immediately asked, “Ordered by who?” She then testified that the night before, she was told by her commanders not to testify, which is likely a violation of the Whistleblower Act and constitutes tampering with the witness.

Many, many years ago, I worked in an office with a coworker who lived in the Bear Creek area, on the north-ish side of Houston. We had a major storm blow through, and I think the final tornado count was somewhere between 8 and 12, and at least one of them through her neighborhood.

She told the story of her husband, who was a fireman, literally crawling through the storm to get to their neighbor’s house, and elderly lady who was all alone. Another story was of a friend, who was sitting in their living room watching TV when all of the sudden the back wall of the house – including their TV – just disappeared.

Still cool and breezy out there this morning, but the winds are not as strong as they were yesterday, and they are generally from the NW which provides some relief to the tender plants trying to buck the relentless SE prevailing spring and summer winds.  I’ve done my resaerch and consideration, and I think I’m going to go with 2 dwarf youpon hollys in pots to stand guard on either side of the stairs leading to my front door.  According to my information, they are heat and drought resistant,  require minimal maintenance, pest resistant, and overall do not need a lot of attention.  They don’t grow too big and don’t need pruning.  I just can’t find anything wrong with that choice.

I will still have two larger outdoor clay pots to do something with, and they might be used to grow tomatoes, roses, move to different parts of the house and no telling what.  No real sense of urgency just yet.  Before investing in any more roses, I’m going to have to wait and see how these that I have just planted turn out.  If I like them, I can do more, if not, I can look for something different.  I’ll probably also plant some tomatoes in the ground in this same area and can compare performance in ground versus pots for future reference.  And I’ve got a couple of serrano pepper plants to find a home for this spring.  After this first year, I’ll probably learn quite a bit to be used in future projects.  OK, I’m back off to the plant store to pick up the holly.  More later.

There have also been some moles found and removed to send to the lab, but none have ever been malignant.

My sister had given me a good sized aloe, which I had in a pot by my door. The freeze took it out, so I was planting a new aloe in that pot. While breaking up the clay soil and adding some organize matter, I found a pup growing on a piece of root. Tiny little think, but nature was fighting for survival there. So I now have two aloe plants, of different varieties. One has about five leaves, and then there’s this teeny, tiny little thing…

….the leaves of some hollies can be carefully made into a tea, with or without caffeine. The leaves also have vitamin A and C and are packed with antioxidants.

The Yaupon Holly, which has the highest caffeine content of any plant in North America, is called Ilex vomitoria (EYE-lecks vom-ih-TOR-ee-uh.) Yeph, it means what you think it mean: vomiting oak but we know it is really vomiting holly… still not pleasant. Native Indians used to make an every-day caffeinated drink from its young leaves and twig tips. However, for solemn ceremonies they would boil up an intentionally strong brew only for the men to drink. The fellow who could hold the concoction down the longest was entrusted with important missions. Osceola means “yapon singer” meaning he could hold the stuff down the longest, which brings me back to gallberry.

When seconds count and the police are minutes away.

Four Israelis were killed and several injured on Tuesday in a suspected Islamic terrorist attack. The ramming and stabbing attack in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba was carried out by an Islamic State sympathizer who had recently been released from prison.

The four victims murdered in the attack were named as “Doris Yahbas, 49, a mother of three, Laura Yitzhak, 43, also a mother of three, Rabbi Moshe Kravitzky, a father of four, and Menahem Yehezkel, 67, a brother to four,” The Times of Israel reported.

    but,

The killing spree ended when the attacker was taken down by two armed Israeli civilians who happened to be at the scene. “Qi’an was shot after being confronted by armed passersby in the area,” the Israeli TV channel i24News reported.

Highlander, 4 Runner or Tundra?  We got $28,000 for our wrecked Highlander.  Now we are shopping for a new used vehicle.  We will be paying cash no matter what we get.  Looking for a low milage pre-owned so we are looking at something around the $35-38K range.  With the cost of fuel we prolly should oughta get a smaller car but dang my fat butt and beard does not fit in them things.  Highlander does get 29 mpg on the highway so we will prolly end up in another one of those.  What is so aggravating is the wrecked car was paid off.

We have a son from this household who got T-boned on a highway the other day.  A 67 year old man just pulled out of a side street and slammed into him.  He wasn’t hurt, but his low mileage, obsessively well-cared for 2014 Nissan Pathfinder was totaled.  He’s not having an easy time finding a replacement vehicle.

What is really aggravating (criminal in my mind) is that when the insurance company pays off the totaled vehicle, they pick some lame reference like ‘ average loan value’ or ‘average trade in value’ instead of ‘average retail value’. The individual citizen does not have the capacity to replace their well cared for vehicle at loan or trade in value; that citizen must pay retail. The payoff should be to replace with like kind and quality; that is the only thing that will make the injured party whole.
So you buy a vehicle and acquire full coverage insurance for it. Not cheap. As you own it for several years, the amount of money that the insurance company will compensate for your loss steadily decreases while the premium stays the same or even goes up. What a wretched scam if there ever was one.

The 4-Runner today is nothing like the old ones and used to be on an actual solid truck frame and rode just like one.  I tried to buy a late model used one for several years, but they were so popular almost all transactions were between friends and relatives.  The only ones you saw online were absurdly over-priced.  Those older 4-Runners had nine lives.  The Middle East used to be full of them because they survived sandstorms, 122 degree heat, unpaved roads and Mohammed who never remembered to check the oil.  I think the Nissan Pathfinder has become the dominant SUV over there now.

When Toyota management realized SUVs were the future and women were going to be driving them, they revamped the 4-runner, put it on a crossover chassis, made the suspension mushy and really softened up the brakes and handling.  I remember getting into one of the first redesigned models at an airport rental lot and driving off thinking the model had been marked wrong on the paperwork.  I stopped, got out and couldn’t believe it was badged as a 4-Runner.

“It’s okay to be (openly) gay and (active) in the Church, it’s none of my business how someone expresses his intimacy.” Yes, perhaps this mindset is caused because so many of the priests that have infiltrated our church over the past decades ARE gay.

Well, back from the dermatology clinic. I had one annoying crusty spot on the side of my face, up high, where it’s covered by my bangs anyway, but the doc was not averse to freezing it off today. Freezing it off again, I should say. I think it is a descendant of a dingy from a minor car wreck 60 years ago. I had a bit of plastic surgery done on it way back when, but that didn’t really take. Now I’ve been having it zapped at this clinic every 5-6 years, but it always grows back.

SO they have some catching up to do. She also said that they had a three man person team that entered. A US Martial, then Hubby and his female co-worker. The Odessa Police were stationed outside but had no authority concerning the Federal Warrant so they were just backup in case they were needed. The raid was in their jurisdiction. One more thing, the bad guy was one of the female Officer’s parolee’s.

Ukraine is not a member of NATO.  Putin wants a buffer zone between Russia and the NATO countries.  Ukraine lies between member countries of NATO and Russia – some might even call it a buffer zone.  Putin attacks Ukraine to then cause the buffer zone to go away and has borders with NATO countries.  Putin does not like having NATO on his doorstep, so he demands that the border countries be banished from NATO so that they can serve as a buffer zone between Russia and NATO.  Democrats and Biden agree and kick Poland out of NATO.  Putin then invades Poland.  And so on and so forth.

Our only way out of this right now is to have the Russians figure out a way to take Putin out.  And they might do just that; but again, they might not.  So long as Putin remains, and so long as the Dems remain in power in the US, Putin will attack and US will appease.  Even if the Dems are able to get us into a war, they will not try to win it – they are only interested in getting the money flowing into the war machine again so they can enhance their grifting operations.

It’s a real deal.  Jeremy Boreing is Ben Shapiro’s partner in the Daily Wire.

    jeremysrazors.com

Harry’s and Daily Wire had a deal.

They paid us. We advertised their razors. We did this for years, with the clear understanding that Harry’s can leave at any time, for any reason.

But after they left us for saying that boys are boys and girls are girls, it was too much for them.

    So they betrayed us.

At the behest of a 2-follower Twitter account, Harry’s publicly condemned our show, attacking not just me, the CEO and god-king… but all of you.

They said the views you hear on our programs—whether you agree with them or not—are “inexcusable,” and dropped their ads on our network due to “misaligned values.” They tried to shame you for the unforgivable sin of not adhering to their woke platitudes du jour.

    Enough.

Harry’s and their ilk don’t want you in their world—but I want you in mine. So stop giving your money to corporations that hate you. Give it to me instead.
