It’s the weekend!
A cold 32 here, the weather guessers were saying it would be 26.
Mornin’ Gang
Morning gang. 24 degrees out here this morning, but nothing like what’s happening up in the northeast. They might need their long johns out there before it’s over. Think it’s supposed to warm up nicely today though.
Maybe today I’ll get around to fixing that kitchen light that is driving me nuts with its flickering. I’ll get up there and remove the bulbs, fiddle around with the tombstones for a while, then finally decide that I need to take the fixture down to get a good look and figure out where the loose wire is, then fix it. Then after a few days I’ll call my brother to come help me reinstall the fixture and put the bulbs back it. That’s just the way I go about doing things it seems.
Other than that, nothing on the agenda so far. You all have a good one, and I’ll get back with you in a little while. More later.
Here’s the WIP for your review: https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2022/01/the-week-in-pictures-neil-old-edition.php
Space Shuttle Carrying 747 Was Secretly Modified To Defend Itself From Heat-Seeking Missiles.
In May 1983, what was then NASA’s only Shuttle Carrier Aircraft, a highly-modified Boeing 747 airliner capable of carrying a Space Shuttle on the top of its fuselage, arrived at the Paris Air Show carrying the shuttle Enterprise. The international aviation spectacle, arguably Europe’s highest-profile air show, had long been an arena for Cold War competition. While the visit was hugely publicized, what most don’t know is that the plane had been modified for its European trip with an advanced countermeasures system to protect itself from heat-seeking missiles that was still highly classified at the time. The defensive additions to NASA’s 747 were so sensitive that the plane’s crew was told to keep it a secret no matter what.
Watching the national news and it looks like Texpat is in for some nasty weather, snow and 40 MPH winds! Better batten down the hatches.
We’ve got about 5 inches on the ground and expecting another 1-2 inches. Winds just started, temperature is at 16° and windchill is around 1°. We got the light part of the storm. Everywhere along the Jersey coast got really hammered and those are all the places that normally get light snowfall. We live about 6 miles inland which is just enough to have kept us out of the line of fire.
There’s been a lot sadness around here and I didn’t want to add anymore today. However, the massive funeral for the 22 year old police officer murdered in the line of duty in Harlem was incredible. The closing of the streets and the enormous turnout of motorcycle cops from all over the Eastern Seaboard resembled a state funeral. The most impressive thing for me was the eulogy by the very young Dominique Luzuriaga who had been the slain officer’s wife for only 3 months. It must have been overwhelming for this young woman, consumed with grief, to stand and speak at the lectern in the huge, magnificent St. Patrick’s Cathedral before every high end police official and politician in New York. The standing ovation she got for taking on the new, far left district attorney was powerful.
You can watch the 6-1/2 minute video clip here.
Since it’s bright ans sunny here we’re already up to 36 degrees but the wind is 3-4 gusting to 6-8 so I bet it’s brisk out there. My Handy Dandy Weather Station has the wind chill at 31 and that sounds about right.
#7 Texpat I caught that on the Sat Radio yesterday when I was out getting ice. When I first tuned in I heard the new mayor of NY say he was there with the Governor and Chuck You Schumer and that made me real mad. These Bastards are using this for political gain all while THEIR Party, the Democratic Party is doing all it can to vilify the police,…… ~SPITS~
The spectacular presence of thousands of police officers for this funeral in the middle of Manhattan was something that never would have happened in the 8 years Di Blasio was in office. Not to diminish the honoring of the officer who gave his life, this was about the NYPD saying, “We are here, we are back”.
“Everything gets worse when there’s Russians in it.”

Kitchen light update. I managed to get up on the ladder and remove all 4 fluorescent bulbs from the fixture (there are 2 fixtures each containing 4 4′ LED bulbs). Then I remembered that it would be a good idea to kick off the breaker wince the wiring is for 2 switches on that fixture – one at each end of the kitchen – so there would still be a hot line going in there from somewhere. So I got that going for me now. I was able to remove the problem tombstone from the fixture without having to take everything down (so far), and I pushed the wires down into their little holes as far as they could go and made sure they were secure by tugging on them individually. Then I reinstalled the tombstone, but rather than put all the bulbs back in, I just put the problem bulb back. So far it’s working just fine with no flickers. After a while, if nothing else happens and it keeps working, I’ll put the rest of the bulbs back in. It’s entirely possible that one of those little wires in there was warming up and not making good contact with the tombstone innards. It seems that when I would turn the lights on, it might go 30 minutes before it would flicker, so I’m agonna just let it go for at least an hour or so. Besides, I need to sit down now for a spell.
When did they start calling nor’easters bomb cyclones?
Sounds like the name of one of those cheesy sci-fi movies they used to show on the SyFy channel.
The cheesy shark movies were the best.
I guess bomb cyclone sounds much more devastating in the age of mass brainwashing, psychosis and fear mongering.
Is it carrying Count Fraudcila’s next variant as well?
This is very cool. High speed footage of a bullet transiting an acrylic sound suppressor.
Morning (just barely) — looks like I forgot to say Hi. I’m debating whether to go out and bag up some leaves in the front yard. Weather forecast for today and tomorrow is conducive while next week looks rainy. I guess I’ll try for 1 bag, and if that goes fast and well, then maybe get some more while it’s dry.

When did they start calling nor’easters bomb cyclones?
When they realized they could manipulate the public into a wholesale psychotic breakdown and then train them to perform like circus monkeys.
My daily route takes me past a subdivision of McMansions on 2-3 acre lots. I’ve been watching this one guy. Across the back of his lot he planted a line of live oaks only 25 feet apart.
/smh
So, he pruned his live oaks this week and is in the middle of his big garden plot feeding those green branches into his fancy chipper.
No wonder his garden has failed for five years.
Weathercasting is an integral part of the Media Clown Show.
Same guy has a pool. His “water feature” is three water spouts that shoot a steam of water in an arc into the pool from ground level.
Looks like three guys standing side by side at GJT’s beer bust.

He must be a Democrat. Who else would be doing the same disastrous thing over and over again ?
Rock you like a Bomb Cyclone.
then train them to perform like circus monkeys.
About 100 of them escaped in Pennsylvania.
Running for their lives from the demented and blood thirsty Count Fraudcila.

Listen up, peasants.
I am a good person.
WHEN I SAID THINGS THAT WEREN’T TRUE ABOUT MASKS, IT WAS FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!
WHEN I TRIED TO STOP YOU FROM INVESTIGATING THE WUHAN LAB, IT WAS FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!
WHEN I PROMOTED A VACCINE THAT HAS NOW HAD MORE SIDE EFFECT REPORTS THAN ALL THE OTHER VACCINES EVER, IT WAS FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!
WHEN I SAID THREE DOSES WOULD WORK EVEN THOUGH TWO DIDN’T –
You get the idea.
I am a good person. A very good person. I don’t want to use the word great, but if you do, I’ll understand.
I don’t do this for the money. That $10 million the wife and I have saved up, that’s beans. My house is modest by Washington standards. Only one pool.
I don’t do it for the fame either. All those TV appearances, and radio hits, and podcast interviews, and magazine profiles, and newspaper profiles, and children’s books, and action figures, and –
THOSE MEAN NOTHING TO ME. NOTHING. I don’t even keep track of them, mmmkay?
Why do I do it?
I do it because I love you all. You are my patients, and I am your doctor. The relationship is sacred.
Also if I quit now it’ll look like I lost. F*ck that, peasants. I am science, and science will win. I know because Pfizer told me so.
Just look at all the winning!
BULLETIN FROM DR. ANTHONY FAUCI!
I’m out of town and on my phone, so you’ll have to read the c&c on your own.

Well, I held up long enough to get 7 bags full. That was all I could cram into my black trash bin anyway. I don’t generate much house trash, but I like to put the bin out every week, so I get my taxes worth of city services. Looks like maybe 40 bags left to go… I did a raking along the property line to my east, so the folks over there can have their yard man mow their weeds. Ironically, 90% of the leaves I have to pick up from my front yard have always fallen off of their 80-y.o. elm (?) tree. That’s their tree that I had severely pruned back from overhanging my new roof.
Institute for Justice’s Short Circuit newsletter:
A few months back we shared with our readers the inspirational story of Texas A&M’s original “12th Man,” E. King Gill, and also the less-than-inspirational story of how Texas A&M straight-up stole a biography of Gill from its copyright owner. The first time around, the Fifth Circuit let the Aggies get away with it, holding that the school was entitled to sovereign immunity. But a bright spot appears! In this substituted opinion, the Fifth Circuit holds that they have no jurisdiction over an appeal by the Texas A&M employee most directly responsible for the theft, and the claims against him will thus go to trial.
Kitchen light update: Sure enough, and as predicted, after I spent time up there messing around and somehow pulling a muscle in my abdomen, my brother came over. There was one loose wire in that fixture, and another one was broken but still touching and creating the flickering and intermittent on and off. After taking a look, I decided that the thing to do would be to take the whole thing down and completely rewire the fixture. So that’s what we did. I replaced the solid copper wire with stranded copper wire since it seems to work better in tight spaces and is more flexible and easier to work with. So all the wires are new, it’s been on without incident for over an hour now. I’m going to declare it fixed once again – this time for sure. Just another reminder that nothing is easy any more, and I’ve got a very sore gut where I tried to stretch it a little too much up there.
The new to me AV receiver arrived a while ago, so I’m gonna go in the other room and start messing with that now. I’ve gotten used to using the TV bluetooth broadcasting over to the Maggie, and it works very well – much better than I had anticipated. And when I’m sitting in the new to me recliner chair, the Maggie plays on my right side which is my good ear (relatively speaking), and the sound is very good. But once I get the home theater hooked up again, I will probably appreciate the really good sound output that come with it. The Maggie bluetooth is only stereo sound – the theater is complete surround sound – there is a difference, plus the subwoofer can make some windows rattle with explosions and stuff like that.
For a 1964 vintage model, the Maggie still pack a good sound though.
I’m trying to hold my inner Nazi on. We’re at our party table and the kids are sharing. There were four older boys that parked themselves here , asked if for some of the birthday cake, and then went to the shack bar. They came back with some ramen noodles, made a mess dropping noodles, juice, and packaging on the benches and floor, and then left to sit at another party table with a pizza. When I asked them to clean up their mess, they picked up two pieces of trash and left the rest. I see they left their pizza box and yeah at the other table.
Man, if they were my kids …
We’re at a local roller skating rink for LD2’s birthday party.
In 2015, then-Judge Gorsuch of the Tenth Circuit suggested that victims of government misconduct should look to state tort law rather than the Constitution to seek redress for their injuries: “Often, after all, there’s no need to turn federal courts into common law courts and imagine a whole new tort jurisprudence under the rubric of § 1983 and the Constitution in order to vindicate fundamental rights when we have state courts ready and willing to vindicate those same rights using a deep and rich common law that’s been battle tested through the centuries.” This week, IJ released a study, 50 Shades of Government Immunity, that takes up that suggestion, examining each state’s regime for civil rights enforcement—and finds them wanting.
Really, Gorsuch, you actually believe that to be true. Well, the young minds at the Institute for Justice decided to take up the challenge of proving or disproving your claim.
It is time for states to do better. Justice Gorsuch is correct that state courts once stood ready and willing to vindicate rights, but today most of them no longer do. As this report shows:
- Only eight states have civil rights statutes, usually bogged down by immunities.
- Only fifteen states allow suits directly under their state constitutions, but those claims often die based on confusing caselaw and immunities.
- And while most states allow for limited tort claims against government officials, they are riddled with exceptions and immunities, which makes it extremely difficult for victims of government abuse to prevail.
This study, which grades states based on the ease of bringing civil rights claims under state law, is a call for lawmakers to do better. It is also a resource for reporters, lawyers, and people in general. If you want to understand what you need to do to bring a civil rights case in your state, this study is here to help you do that.
All 50 states were graded and one, only one, received an A-, the state of New Mexico. Texas graded out as a D and Alabama scored an F. Only two states received a B-.
Frankly, if anyone working for your local, county or state government violates your life, liberty or property without just cause – you’re pretty well screwed. Here is the truth in the report from IJ:
Here is the Texas Quick Facts Page.
Just remember this. You may not be interested in the Qualified Immunity doctrine, but it is very interested in you should you ever have to file suit for damages against any government or official employee for violating your life, liberty or property.
Here’s a rather sickening report on a possible vaccine injury that is not being tracked or reported.
Also note that pregnant women were NOT included in the vaccine trials. It is medical malpractice to recommend the vaccines to pregnant women. The CDC repeatedly declared them safe for pregnant women without complete data. I don’t expect the mainstream media to question the CDC on this at all. I’m sure they will all ignore it.

You will never guess what was piloting that F-35 that just missed the carrier and plunked into the South China Sea. https://twitter.com/The_Real_Fly/status/1487181599049408519
Got started back on War and Remembrance. I pulled a muscle in my abdomen while up there fooling around with that dam light, and it still hurts. Particularly difficult to squeeze one out right now if you get my drift. I may just have to turn in earlier than usual this evening. My pain threshold is not what it used to be. Guess everyone else left after dark to go kick up their heels on Saturday night, and I suppose there’s nothing wrong with that if you can still do it. OK, I’ll try to get back before turning in, but no promises.
Made it back and made it to 10PM. Nite nite all. Have a good one.

Hard landing on the USS Vinson flight deck, sheared off the landing gear, injured 7 sailors on the deck crew and the aircraft slid off the end of the deck and dropped to the bottom of the sea right there. The pilot managed to eject at some point and was rescued by helicopter from the water. I believe 4 sailors were treated on the ship and 4 were transported to a military hospital in the Philippines. I still can’t find confirmation of a female pilot.
Here is an article on the first female Marine Corps F-35 pilot. If this was a woman pilot she would be a US Navy aviator since the VFA-147 “Argonauts” Strike Fighter Squadron are assigned to USS Carl Vinson now. They fly the F-35s off the CVN-70 aircraft carrier.
It sounds like Trump’s rally in Conroe was a big success tonight.
Trump seemed in great form, with a lot of energy. Nine months from now, the people are going to send a message to the radical Democrats in D.C., Trump said, talking about the midterm elections. He praised Texas for being about family, freedom, God, and country. “And oil and guns,” he added with a smile, to great cheers. “Don’t mess with Texas,” Trump thundered, “because Texas is never, ever turning blue.”
Trump also hit on some of the news items of the day.
Trump gave a shout-out to the “brave” Canadian truckers resisting mandates, saying he wanted them to know that they were doing more than American leaders, and “we are with them all the way.

Burrr a cold 27 here, coldest morning this season. Layer up Katfish. I bet leathers feel good on a morning like this.
Mornin’ Gang
I checked Katy weather 39 and possible rain. Better get your out slickers Katfish.
Last night it was fried breakfast pork chops, charro beans, mash taters and green beans.
This morning it’s Friday’s leftover quiche.
Might get fat soon. 🙂
Here’s one for those Canadian truckers.
#47 We had close to the same thing; leftover roast beast and smashed taters covered in gravy, collard greens, little green peas and Hawaiian rolls. Dang fine eating the third time around. I love leftovers.
Morning gang. 27 degrees out here this morning, heading for the low 70’s later in the day. My weather guessers out in San Angelo have issued a special weather statement for later in the week (about Wednesday) that the ground hog winter freeze is on the way and we’ll not get above freezing for a few days. So I’d better spend the next couple of days getting my batteries, bottled water, wrapping my pets, and the like. I’ll make sure the bird feeder is filled up also.
I’ll report back in a little later once I get up and running. My abdomen is still sore this morning, and especially painful when I sneeze or laugh. That may slow down my normal brisk pace that I keep around here, but just know that I’ll be embracing the pain and plowing through it. You all have a great day now. More later.
Last week I picked up my Alamo Print from the local framers and dang they’re expensive! ST did a lot of framing for me and always said she give me half price and since it was still outrageous I figured it might be half off MSRP and I guess it really was.
I have a Shuttle print that was signed by a lot of my coworkers that I want to get framed but I don’t want to mortgage the farm to do it.
FWIW; I put the Alamo print beside my Republic of Texas Map.
I can’t believe that I got no comment from my #17 about high speed footage of shooting various types of silencers with acrylic tubes?!? You can see the flame/gas flow and disruptions.
Sometimes the tubes fail.

I watched it. It was pretty fascinating.
I thought the Disney 7 dwarfs controversy was peak public stupidity, but the Canada Broadcasting Corporation said “Hold my beer !”.
This move comes hours after the CBC claimed on their broadcast that Russian invading forces had infiltrated the Canadian protest ranks, disguised themselves as truckers, and were attempting to destabilize the Trudeau government.
Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino said he would not comment on the media reports of Russian operatives currently encircling the capital. Yes, this actually happened, video below…
I can see Ivan and Mikhail now practicing their Canadian accents by learning how to “about” as “aboot”.
I thought Jews controlled the world, but it seems like they’ve been unseated by Russians who are everywhere all the time.
#53 Bones, I watched it this morning. The first tube separation was really neat, it just exited, intact after the round was long gone. The subsequent shattered ones were pretty impressive also. BTW; Soteria is located right up the road from me in Anniston Alabama, just east of Birmingham.
I’m just not believing that this ad was successful even if it was in 1947.
We’re off to see America!
Hunting in the cold weather this past week reminded me why I bought Danner Boots. Waterproof and insulated, I love them. With my wool socks my feet don’t get cold until It gets in the low 20’s.
I got interested in these funicular incline railways after seeing the one in LA used as a location set in a crime series recently.
This one is in Pittsburgh, but the scariest ones are in Switzerland, of course.
I got the best wake up cuddles from Lil Darlin. Better than any alarm clock. This morning we discussed butterflies and options for their garden this year.
In between multiple declarations of love for each other.
I dropped off Bambi at the processor yesterday and my deer will be moved up in the queue since it was already quartered and they don’t like to leave the meat in the plastic tubs they store it in for long. It seems that have a whole deer hanging, it can stay in the cooler longer. Now the next question for a normal person is, who brings a deer in whole? Apparently almost everyone. Not gutted or skinned?! Mercy! I asked the gal why this was and she said that most guys now a days don’t know how to skin/dress a deer! What is the world coming to? BTW; Only about 30% of the deer come to them quartered.
This one is in Pittsburgh, but the scariest ones are in Switzerland, of course.
Of Course!!! 😀
#54, 56: I think incorporating the concepts behind The Tesla Valve would have very positive benefits to suppressor technology. Some of them are using the idea already.
I remember the hot gal in the Flashdance movie took her bike on one if those funicular railways to see the old Russian Ballerina. The movie was set in Pittsburgh.

In 1947, a Greyhound roundtrip ticket from Pennsylvania to San Francisco cost $81.45 which is $1,018.31 in 2021.
You can buy an economy roundtrip ticket Pittsburgh/San Francisco on United Airlines for today for $384.
RE: #65
Greyhound Bus economy 2-1/2 day roundtrip fare Pittsburgh/San Francisco is $442.
In 1947, a Greyhound roundtrip ticket from Pennsylvania to San Francisco cost $81.45 which is $1,018.31 in 2021.
Transit time was 3-4 days at best. One way.
Doing it on a passenger train with sleeper berths might be cool.
Is that on a count of flying is more economical now or is it on count of San Francisco ain’t San Francisco no more? 😀
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been whisked off with his family to some top secret, high security bunker because he’s afraid the undercover Russian commie truckers are going to beat him up.
It’s obvious who the real masterminds of all this terror are…

I’m old enough to remember when the interstate highway system was still a dream of Dwight Eisenhower. Driving to San Antonio was an all day affair because you had stop in all the small towns and old Hwy. 90 was a two lane blacktop most of the way.
If you were going from Pittsburgh to San Francisco today you can take I-76 northwest to Youngstown and catch I-80 west and it will take you right into the SF Bay Area*.
*Not that there is any good reason to be there.

I think you should start dressing/skinning school and teach younger generations how to do it. I don’t understand not gutting a carcass in the field.
My Sunday HouChron only just now got delivered, so I’m getting a very late start on the Sudoku. Later, gang.

Looks like they are attempting to build an January 6 “insurrection” narrative.

Trivia time!
What are the full names of those three?
As you are aware yesterday was Give a Truck day in the GWN. We went to a local rally in town that was nicely attended considering the short amount of time to get organized. There were probably a couple of hundred people plus folks driving around and honking.
North of us in Edmonton, Alberta’s capital, the attendance was massive. People filled the downtown and then vehicles were rerouted to a major ring road and apparently they encircled the city and then some. I’ll see if I can snag a decent video.

All I remember is Boris & Natasha Badenov.
Previously, the only way you could watch the documentary on Guy Clark, Without Getting Killed Or Caught was to purchase a digital “ticket” and watch it on a schedule that included commentary from various folks. It was, I think, a very silly way to market the movie.
The producers just announced that its available On Demand now, you can watch it any time you want. It’ll cost you twenny bux, but I think its worth it, although I think they made Susanna’s relationship with Townes Van Zandt a bit more than it should be.
Here is a short one. A minute and a half
Y’all think I’m crazy with my camping gear collection. But I just watched two of these tin cups get sold on Ebay for over $1000. It was on a Buy It Now for $1149 and the auction was listed for less than a day.

Our good friends in Canada know what to do to rein in their overly greedy/grabby government officials. Hope they can have recall elections in all the provinces and nationally if necessary. Or perhaps in some instances they might have to petition Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth to remove some.

I figure that should give us a week to try the alternatives if you want, if not LMK and I will drop the hammer on this project
Andrea Widburg at American Thinker has posted this insane video depicting what leftist ideology has done to white American females, especially younger ones. This video, however, co-stars two older, mentally ill, clinically insane Karens assaulting a young black guy.
A Black man was on an elevator. Then, two middle-aged White women got on and completely freaked out. The best guess for their freak-out is that he wasn’t wearing a mask (which is indicated by the clarity with which he speaks, unmuffled by a face diaper).
At some point in their freak-out, the man began filming the women as they tried to film him. Despite apparently being terrified by his germs, the women swarmed the man, at which point he put his hands up defensively to protect himself against them. One of the women then hit him, and, when he called her on it, she began chanting, “Black lives matter,” while her companion continued to insist that he leave the elevator. Here — see for yourself…
I wish the young man had called the police and filed charges on these two.

I have a confession. I loved Joe Burrow so much as a college QB I had to sneak a peek on his game today. Came from way down and beat the Chiefs in overtime.
