Bones, if you’re lurking I was your Precharged Pneumatic Air Rifle and noticed the 4500 PSI bicycle pump. I bought one of those to pump up the piping for the Victaulic fittings that we were testing at NASA. We only needed 500 PSI but our shop air was only 150 PSI which is the norm. I saw a 38 caliber Air rifle at the NRA Convention a few months before our testing and that is how I knew about it. BTW; The 38 was capable of taking a Whitetail out to 100 Yds.

Morning gang. Stayed up late for the World Series last night. Don’t really have a dog in the fight, but it was a good game.

This Jerrfrey Toobin thing has renewed my concern about some of you telecommuters whou just never know when you are sipping your coffee, minding your own business, firing up the computer, and click, there it is, right at eye level. Or you stand up to answer the door only to realize that you forget to get dressed. Well, here are some helpful tips to assist you in avoid embarrassing and even potential job threatening situations. https://gizmodo.com/heres-how-to-avoid-accidentally-showing-your-genitals-t-1845418261

Have a good day, and I’ll report back in later.

    4,500 psi bicycle pump?!?

What on earth is that actually used for? That’s a pretty dangerous amount of stored energy if you were to pressurize something up to that level.

Precharged Pneumatic Air Rifle Bones posted it yesterday.
Like I said we only needed 500 PSI but that wasn’t easy for us to do in our lab. We were testing Victaulic Semi-Flex Fittings using pipe from 6″ to 18″ in diameter. The pipes were filed with water and then pressurized to 500 PSI, low volume, high pressure.

Noodling around on Duck Go I found a PDF of Victaulic® Couplings Vibration Attenuation Characteristic from their Website. The picture is much better, you can see the setup. Pipe secured to a big plate and suspended for a cable on one end and resting on a cradle on the other. Between is one of our small 310 shakers pushing against the plate. We measured the difference, in G’s, between the plate and the outboard side of the coupling.

Well, last night was another problematic night for sleeping. I remembered I have some clove oil, which I haven’t used in quite a while. I’ve found that the aroma of such helps me sleep. I also like to have ocean waves playing. So, I pulled out my phone and found my ocean waves video, put some clove oil on a tissue (since I lost the little rag I used to have), and tucked the tissue under my pillowcase.

As I lay there, I realize there’s a burning sensation right next to my eye. Indeed, I can still feel it somewhat, even after getting up and washing it off.

[Note to self: Never lay right on top of clove oil. Even if there’s fabric in between.]

So, that delayed my falling asleep even further. I may actually be able to take a nap today.

I hear Trump is planning on releasing his Leslie Stahl/60 Minutes interview before the interview airs – this weekend?

He’s calling it biased. I’m sure it’ll be released with his commentary.

That ought to take the wind out of those sails. CBS won’t get their numbers if folks have already seen it, and even lower numbers if it’s an obvious hit job. The lefties might like that, but Trump’s followers may just boycott the whole network if it’s that bad.

Don’t tell anyone I said it, but the highlight of our trip to Utah/NV wasn’t my niece’s wedding but the visit to the giant copper mine on the way back to Salt Lake City. 🙂

That copper mine had an enormous wall collapse in 2013.

University of Utah researchers later reported the landslide moved at an average of almost 70 mph (113 kph) and reached estimated speeds of at least 100 mph (160 kph). Nearly 100 million cubic yards (70 million cubic meters) of debris were released during the slide, enough debris to bury New York City’s Central Park 66 feet (20 meters) deep. The landslide triggered 16 small earthquakes. And the rumble from the landslide itself was large enough to be recorded on earthquake detectors.

  27. Shannon Avatar

    Too cool.

While the size of the slide was unexpected, the timing was not. The company that operates the mine had installed an interferometric radar system months before the event that made it possible to detect subtle changes in the stability of the pit’s walls. Signs of increasing strain prompted the mine’s operators to issue a press release seven hours before the collapse, with a warning that a landslide was imminent. All workers were evacuated and production had stopped before the landslide occurred; as a result, no one was injured.

The hard evidence contained in those email strings are or should be enough to imprison both Bidens, perhaps even DOCTOR Jill Biden, Archer, maybe John Kerry’s step son, Lurch himself, and some other big shots, maybe even Barky O’Dogeater. I heard Obama is doing a drive-in rally for Hidin’ Biden today.

    Questions that come to mind:
    1. How long will it take for the staffers and volunteers to drive all those empty cars into position?

    2. How long to set up the cardboard cutout “drivers”? Or will they leave the back rows empty?

    3. Will the cameras pan over the “crowd”? Will they zoom in on the “people”?

    4. Will horn honking take the place of clapping?

    5. How will they honk the horns of the cars with the fake drivers?

My Church Friend is coming by this afternoon to pick up the tub of rosaries for the confirmation class. Their first rehearsal is this Saturday, but I’m hoping to be with College Buddy for his “birthday celebration”. It’s quite likely the last time I’ll get to see him, from what I hear. It’s also the same day as LDIL’s surprise birthday party, but I’ve cleared it with Handsome Son; he understands. I do need to wrap her gift so he can give it to her for me.

I went over the rosaries again this morning. Some are so pretty, it’s hard for me to give them away. But they do no one any good sitting in house. CF may put out a donation jar for me, so I can buy more materials to make more rosaries; or at least to recoup some of the money I’ve put into the gifts. On average, there’s about $5 in materials in each set of beads, and there are 50+ rosaries in the tub, in addition to the prayer aids I created and the bags I purchased so the students would have something in which to safely carry their rosaries.

It’s like sending my babies out into the world. Casting bread upon the waters. I’m hoping the efforts don’t come back void.

HEADLINE: Janice Dean Leads An Army Of New Yorkers Who Want Cuomo Held Accountable For Deadly COVID Decisions
    /snip
Dean believes Cuomo’s policies mandating that hospitals return infected COVID-19 patients to nursing homes caused her in-laws’ sudden deaths. On March 25, Cuomo mandated that hospitals discharge elderly patients with COVID-19 back to nursing homes, like the ones where Dean’s in-laws were staying. The order extended for more than a month, leading to the infection of thousands of vulnerable people in close quarters with contagious co-residents.
    /snip
“I have not seen the coverage of this,” she said. “This should be one of the biggest stories of this pandemic, of 2020. Twenty percent of our lost loved ones are from nursing homes. And, it’s because Governor Cuomo, and several other Governors, by the way, in different states, forced COVID-recovering patients into nursing homes.”

It was only in D controlled states that this insanity happened. If the shoe was on the other foot (not possible, because the overwhelming number of Rs are not insane and the same can’t be said about Ds), the Ds would be charging mass murder.

Man, if they flip Hunter Biden to testify against his own father….

Rush posited today that Hunter leaving the incriminating laptop at the repair may have been an (subconcious) attempt to cry for help and to lash out as his dad for taking advantage of him, and for forcing him into uncomfortable situations. As Giulani said, “Normally, you’d hire a bagman to collect your money, but Joe forced his son to be his bagman.” Rush called Hunter “a lost soul” with lots of problems.

If Hunter does resent his Dad’s manipulation into illegal activities, it may not be difficult to get him to implicate his father in return for a lighter sentence and some psyciatric help with his issues.

Did I ever tell the story about how I started receiving mail addressed to M Joharper? My middle name stuck to my last name, and I’m thinking, what kind of idiot would think Joharper is a name? So I did a massive personnel search for last names Joharper, and I seem to recall that I found 4 or 5 of them in the USA.  And in each case, it appeared that a middle name Jo had been mal-entered by data punchers as part of  the last name. I recall there was a Bonnie Joharper, who could be found both as B. Jo Harper and B. Joharper.

Now jump to level II, which occurred when my husband started getting mail, both at home and at a P.O. box that we used for computer magazines (so you can guess how long ago this nonsense started), and for some mailed packages, e.g. pharmaceuticals that shouldn’t be in a curbside metal mailbox all day. Yeah, he started getting mail addressed to David Joharper.

That was almost as bad as when he was getting mail to Al Harper, for about a year after we bought Chez  Harp, and I had insisted on my name first on the paperwork. So our deed said M* J* Harper et al W* D* Harper.

That was my take either Monday or yesterday, here or on ACE. I mentioned that the drug use was self medication to numb the pain that he knew he was doing bad things and that his father practically forced it on him. I think it is safe to say that Hunter has daddy issues.

There was a comedian years ago who told a story about his buddy named JB. They weren’t his initials, that was his name. It alway confused people so when he went to the DMV to get his license he told the lady when she asked what JB stood for, “Nothing, J only, B only.” When he got his license back his name was Jonly Bonly.

  68. Hamous Avatar

If Hunter does resent his Dad’s manipulation into illegal activities…

Seems like in one of the emails released last week he suggested there was some resentment. I think it was to his daughter or niece? He said something about taking part of the person’s money but “it wouldn’t be 50%, like Pops does.”

  69. El Gordo Avatar

#72,75, et al – I’m afraid that poor Hunter may just become overwhelmed at all this publicity and have an unfortunate accident when measuring out his meds. Like he misread grams and thought it was pounds thus ingesting more than his body can handle. Or something along those lines. Of course, his handlers have Joe under lock down and incommunicado, so he doesn’t know what all is going on – and if he did, he would not remember it, so I’m thinking they won’t even tell Joe about Hunter’s unfortunate accident until after the debate. Unless they move his OD up and use the passing of his son for the reason for cancelling the debate – and criticize Trump for causing his passing. That all sounds logical. The next 24 hours or so should be interesting.

Then I see that Trump gave 60 minutes an interview, and he is planning to release the interview early before SeeBS airs it. There could be some editing conflicts, and that might permit him to get out in front. Sounds good to me.

My official duties at Fort Sill were in the S2/S3 (Operations and Intelligence) of the US Army Field Artillery Aviation Command or USAFAAC. All mail not addressed to a specific department or activity within the Command was routed trough our office for review and forwarded on to the proper folks once we figgered out whatinell it was. One day, we got a letter from an outfit that told us that they had done extensive research and had identified Usafaac family Crest and Coat of Arms, apparently of Slavic origin. I forwarded it to the Colonel who was amused enough to order the tastefully done lithograph that was offered at a drastically reduced price and minimal shipping fee, but declined to buy the matching gilt frame as that could be requisitioned through regular supply channels. My maiden name was always pronounced KORtee. Officially, the Italian pronounciation was KOR(roll the “r”)-teh. Being from Texas, many folks who looked at it for the first time Mexicanized it to kor-TAY.

And then there were the ones who added a “z” to make it KOR-tez.

I learned to respond to just about anything, which prepared me for my married name.
It often gets mispronounced as DINE-ing. I also “Jennings,” “Denning,” and “Dennings”. I congratulate those who get it right – DINN-ing.

FWIW, I do not mind the Pope saying he is for same sex civil unions. I am perfectly fine with reserving the Holy sacrement of matrimony for heterosexual couples.

This lessens the chance of Fred and Steve asking a priest to “marry” them, priest refuses, and then Fred and Steve sue the church. I said lessen and not obviate potential lawsuits.

When I served on our Parish Council several years ago, I remember the priest said he would like all marriages to be civil matters as far as the law is concerned. If you want to say your vows in front of God, THEN come to church.

Traitor Mittens Romney said he didn’t vote for the president but he didn’t say who he voted for.

I’d wager he voted for write in candidate Pierre Delecto le Pew.

Mitt may be the most pathetic bastard that I’ve ever seen in politics.

My vote would go to Charlie Crist.

I wonder if our resident GMC aficionado has put his deposit down on a new GMC Hummer EV supertruck 😉

I don’t think so Tim. $100K for ANY truck is just not right. Funny, just yesterday, I got a letter from a Chevy place over in Enterprise. They had what looked like a handwritten piece of paper with the math about how I could get a new Silverado, something like $2500 Chevy discount + $1500 dealer incentive, $29500 trade-in for my 2016 GMC = $9700 bucks out the door. Oh and If I bought a decked out Impala they’d give me $9500 bucks. Letter went straight to the trash. 😉
