It’s Hump Day.
Mornin’ Gang -
Hundred years ago is gettin moderner and moderner.

Morning gang. Where to start today? Well, let’s go get that auto inspection done and get the registration off to the State. Open season is coming up on Medicare, and for the first time, I’m thinking that I might be wise to invest in one of those supplemental policies. Historically I’ve just paid my share out of pocket, but I’m trying to figure out if I would come out ahead if I go ahead with one of those things – and that’s just to cover the stuff that I know about that’s coming up. You never know when something else might pop up here in our golden years. And my prescription drug plan is dropping my pharmacies that I have set up in the areas that I normally go for medical care, so I have to try to round up new ones that are on the list in those areas. So, all of a sudden, out here where medical care is not readily available, it’s time to go back on the hunt. Houston is surely blessed with the best in medical care, probably anywhere in the world.
OK, I’ll probably watch another round of ACB abuse this morning, and I’ll just remind you that I don’t think that Linda Graham is doing herself any favors by allowing this to continue on. It serves absolutely no purpose, will change absolutely no votes, either at the committee or the Senate as a whole. It is a pleasant surprise to observe such a brilliant mind at work willing to take the time to explain some things about how the courts work and also convincing me that she is an absolute independent thinker who is willing to keep an open mind, review all sides of an issue, and use sound judgment in her deliberations. My favorite twitter observation: “She’s got seven kids and a husband – she’s used to answering stupid questions all day long.”
OK, you all have a great day out there. More later.
-
I mentioned that I’d watch some of the clown show and it was embarrassing all the pathetic Democrats making fools of themselves and trying their best to get Amy Barrett to say something, anything that they and PMSNBCBS could use in a sound bite but she was too smart for them and answered the questions the way she wanted to. My wife watched more of it than I and is thoroughly impressed with Barrett and loved it when she turned the tables on the imbeciles. FWIW; Texpat and El Gordo talked about this yesterday in better verbiage.

Kinda like Gordo’s annual auto inspection that just doesn’t seem to last as long anymore.

The wife had got sucked into the hearings and about 1 PM, the Dish stopped working since the new roof was interfering with it. We thought that it would be able to see over the new section but the 2″ X 6″ was higher up on the old roof than I thought. I called the dish people and they can get out on November 8?!?! WHUT?!?!? Then we called a local guy that can do it on Thursday. Since we have “Smart TV’s” I told the wife to try to hook up to Amazon, since she has Prime it’s free. She did manage to get on but nothing was new, (live) so she started looking at other stuff on the tube and found a Fox News show that covered the hearings live without interruption. I went out to do other things and when the guys finished up about 5 PM I took the dish off the roofline and mounted it on a 2″ X 6″ and taped it to my 8′ ladder. I used small wood blocks to raise the back side and level the board. It works like a champ,…as long as the workers don’t knock it over and figure that’ll happen as soon as they get started today. Wife said; “I knew there was a reason that I married a Rocket Scientist. 😉

FYI Andrew Cuomo has a book coming out soon. Leadership Lessons From the Covid-19 Pandemic.
I’m not kidding.
Here is a link to the nursing home order that sent thousands of grandmas and grandpas over the rainbow bridge.

After getting the Dish working we were watch Fox and they showed ALL of that Evil Kamala Harris bloviating and then when Kennedy from Louisiana started they cut to Blondie talking to a couple of guys and we wanted to see what Kennedy had to say since he is often funny. We went to the living room where the Fox News show was still going and watched for a while and Kennedy was great bring up old cases from the material that Barrett had provided and she went through all of it point to point without any notes. he made her look good but she’d been carefully listening to mostly IDIOTS for 11 hours and you could see that she was getting tired but it didn’t hamper her comments.

I have some thoughts for those of you who decide you are going to wait for official election day (Nov. 3) to cast your ballot. We have about 3 weeks of early voting designed to (1) make it more convenient to cast your vote when you have time, (2) make it able to vote where ever in the county you happen to be rather than being limited to voting in you own precinct wherever that might happen to be on election day. Based on the first day of early voting, the volume of voters is going to be huge this year, even though the Dems are promoting all this mail fraud voting and such. so, my opinion is if you want to be sure you get to cast your own ballot, rather than having it stolen and voted by some Democrat operative over in the jungle, is to go early and cast your vote in person. Why in the world would any thinking person run the risk of waiting until the last minute, go some place to vote only to find out that their polling place had been moved or wasn’t staffed or whatever, then discover that you could not vote because someone else had already cast a ballot in your name, and standing in line for an hour or two only to find that out. Vote early, meaning vote in person before election day.
There can be absolutely no logical reason for failing to vote early. What in the world could possibly happen that would cause you to change your mind about who you are voting for? Even if your candidate drops dead, it shouldn’t be cause for you to vote for the other side. The Dems are going to create such a spectacle at the polls on election day that you may decide it’s not even safe to get out of your car and face their thugs roaming the parking lot, lining the walkway up to your polling location, watching to steal your car or its contents while you are standing in a long line, and whatever other hazards you may encounter. If you do decide to venture out on election day, make certain you are armed, especially if you are displaying any Trump stickers or such on your car.
Just vote in person early unless you are unable to physically do so. It’s the only smart way to make sure you get your vote counted, and let’s face it, your vote is the only say you will ever have in determining what kind of government we have. Just my $.02.

On Shannon’s suggestion yesterday, I started to watch Ted Cruz at the ACB hearing. I found the 30 min clip on YouTube. I got about halfway through it before I called lights out. I’ll have to finish it today.

Is ACB being set up? After having such a good day yesterday, the Dems can’t let that stand. I would expect them to drop a deuce on the floor of the committee room at the end of the hearings, but given how well she is doing, they may not think they can afford to wait. It won’t be DiFi this time, maybe the show boat Booker, Danang Dick, or the obnoxious whitehouse. Heels Up can’t do it because of her own political situation, Hiro Hitoette is just too stupid to be trusted to get it right. Probably Booker. But it is coming, so be ready when it drops. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3893574/posts

I get E Mail from Copano Bay Press about every day and today they had;
In 1906, the Hot Wells Hotel in south San Antonio, offered a $1k reward to any soul who could disprove the hotness of their sulfur spring. Of course anyone with a candy thermometer could have checked the temperature of their stinky water. The reward was just a clever way of luring eyes to the ad that lured folks to the spa.I find this interesting and while some of you folks probably knew about it, I didn’t.
-
Even if your candidate drops dead, it shouldn’t be cause for you to vote for the other side.
I’ve been more concerned that I vote before I drop dead.
-
#6 SD: Your photo is a fine example of creative engineering. I really like the block under the leg of the ladder to keep it level and stable and the yellow duct tape is the bomb.
-
I figured I’s get some laughs out of my Redneck Engineering but it took me all of about 25 minutes to do that and the worse part was trying to get the dang thing off the fascia board. I removed the 6 giant PK screws and it hung on just fine. It had some sort of sticky tar holding it to the board and I had a hard time prying it off with a roofing Crowbar.

I always wait until election day to vote because I want my vote to be in the mix when results are coming in that evening not counted later if it’s a tight race. Besides, are Shannonigans more likely the day of than them having three weeks to handle it?
I am rethinking it this year, scared to death something might happen and not get to vote.
-
if you want to be sure you get to cast your own ballot, rather than having it stolen and voted by some Democrat operative over in the jungle
Precisely why I went in yesterday morning. Hubby is voting this morning, I believe. Handsome Son and Hubby have been having long talks over politics lately. I haven’t talked to Handsome recently, but I’m going to advise the same for him.
BTW – Handsome Son’s wife has a birthday coming up. It’s funny that our neighbor has a daughter one year younger than Stephanie (they played together as children). Neighbor Daughter’s birthday is on the 22nd, LD has hers on the 23rd, and Lovely Daughter-in-Law has hers on the 24th. Line ’em up and knock ’em all out.
-
Actually the early votes get counted first. Except in San Saba where they have one locked ballot box and they don’t open it until the polls close on election day, the the day you drop your ballot into the box really doesn’t matter – they are all counted at the same time, provided they can figure out how to get the ballot counting machine to work.
-
I have a neighbor friend (the lady whose husband recently passed from the WLR) who works the polls. I saw her yesterday morning. (FYI – she voted in the Democrat primary this year just to screw with their numbers and get their emails, so she’d know what they were saying. Too funny.) I saw her about 8:30, and there was a small but steady trickle going into the polls, though she told me there was a much bigger line when they opened. She posted on Nextdoor that they were kept steadily busy while she was there.
-
Speaking of the 24th birthday – that’s the day that there MAY be a last birthday celebration for college buddy in Bryan. Hubby told me that Handsome Son is planning a surprise party for his wife, and it’s kind of a big deal, so Hubby suggested that I stay here to be part of that celebration.
But it quitely likely may be the last time I get to see our college friend. Hubby said he’s fading fast. As a matter of fact, there’s a good chance that the party may be called off.
I guess I need to talk to Handsome Son about it. I want to be in two places at one time, but I’m no St. Padre Pio. He bilocated on more than one occasion. I at least can wrap her present and hand it off to HS if I decide to go to Bryan.

But, Biden is ahead in the polls….
President Trump’s Florida Rally: 16% of Attendees Were Democrats, 24% Didn’t Vote in 2016
-
First of all, I’m NOT going to get sucked into these hearings. The poor pathetic Boxer asked a question that included a quote by Amy Barret and she responded with thanks, for that question because,…and she went on to tell all about the article in question and explained that the single quote taken out of context could change the whole meaning of the subject. Whaap, out of the park! 😀

My #25 This whole thing is hilarious the Democrats have all of their Dumbest people trying to match wits with a genius. Very entertaining.

The 3 biggest lies about the WLR exposed.
1. COVID carries a very high, 3.4 percent, death rate [compared to a flu death rate of 0.10 percent].
This has now been debunked by none other than the United Nations World Health Organization, which the leftist globalists believe is the gold standard for information about COVID. The WHO came out with updated mortality rates this week showing that only 0.13 percent of those infected will die. That’s 26 times lower than WHO’s previously purported death rate of 3.4 percent. We already know that in the U.S. the average age of those who succumb to the virus is 78 and they have an average of 2.6 comorbidities. This 0.13 percent death rate is almost exactly the death rate for the common flu.2. COVID is spread by asymptomatic “super spreaders.”
This scares people to death every time they hear it, because it suggests that every human being you come in contact with can potentially infect you. This is absolute hogwash. Asymptomatic carriers have a very low viral load in their system, making it virtually impossible to pass the virus on to another person. Even in the rare cases that they might be able to pass it on, it is highly unlikely if they don’t have symptoms, meaning they are not coughing, sneezing or wheezing.3. COVID is untreatable.
Now that truly is scary! This lie provided the pretext for Bill Gates and Big Pharma to rush to market an unsafe and unproven vaccine, which could end up being mandated by various state governments and corporations. But this “no treatment” lie has been exposed over and over by the facts, most recently seen in the way President Trump was so effectively treated with a cocktail of supplements and drugs. Trump was treated with Rendesivir in combination with zinc, Vitamin D and melatonin. Another option available in some states is hydroxychloroquine.End all shutdowns and mask requirements now!

re ACB: What is the big surprise that the Ds have? What kind of spurious allegations are they going to make, how big of a lie(s) are they going to tell?
For the 20% of the population that would eagerly vote for a steaming cow pattie with a D behind its name, nothing can be done for them and nothing should even be attempted as it would be a wasted effort. For the rest of the population, however, is this kind of gotcha politics wearing thin? Do the balance of We The People see through this nonsense and want to move away from the socialist D bent? Only time will tell.
-
#28 – I agree with you on this. However, I’m still holding Linda Graham responsible for even allowing a forum for this theatrical performance. It’s meaningless and only offers a forum for grandstanding by the Senators. Drawing it out and subjecting her to this torture serves no useful purpose. He should stand up, call for a vote, and shut this down. That’s why he is going to lose SC next month. He should be fighting tooth and nail to protect this nominee rather than throwing her to the wolves to fend for herself.
-
That’s interesting, Leaky Leahy who is from Vermont just said that Harris County Texas with a population of 5 million only has ONE place for early voting!?!?!? Really?!?!

Wonder if he’s talking about drop box. I keep seeing that posted on FB, I don’t know what a ballot drop box is or why it exists or why there is only one or if that is even true. But we are talking about Democrats. Oh, BTW, don’t they run everything in Harris County now?
-
That’s gonna look real purdy with Christmas lights on it.
In July.
-
I don’t know what a ballot drop box is or why it exists or why there is only one or if that is even true.
There is one drop box for mailed-out ballots. Abbott wanted one place per county, so a poll watcher could prevent someone from dropping 300 ballots at one time to be counted. As I understand it, the person voting (or a spouse) are the only ones who can deliver a mail completed not at the polling place. So, Hubby could drop off his ballot and mine, but not the whole neighborhood.
-
…a ballot completed not at the polling place…
Sorry for the confusion.

“You’re facing the enemy, you’re about 500 meters away,” Cap. Michael Zilberg from the Nachal Brigade told news outlet N12. “A mission like this requires you to be very focused.”
Yeah, I’ll bet it does. Nothing like facing an enemy that desires your complete and total extermination to focus your attention.

I’ve had this iPhone 11 for several months and been very frustrated with trying to close out any web pages running in the background.
I thought you just had to swipe up from the bottom of any open webpage and all open sites would appear in a stack of tiles. But that was only working 25% of the time.
I finally found out from a YouTube guy that you don’t just Swipe up, you must slowly drag up and stop and hold.

The mail-in vote
systemCluster-Eff in California really needs federal intervention. It. Is. That. Bad.
Duplicate or even quadruplicate ballots, dead people receiving ballots 10 years after their demise, incorrect ballots, etc. California was highly unlikely to go R for POTUS anyway, but this is ridiculous. The system is so corrupted that the electors from CA should not be seated – due to the corruption. The only cure is to only count in person ballots – the mail in is too corrupt to use in this case. I suspect the mail in ballot push is intentional voter fraud by the Ds, seeing as how they are the ones screaming the loudest about how it has to be this way due to the deadly WLR, see #27 for clarity of purpose. This whole thing is a criminal conspiracy and all the Ds (as well as some GOPeeeee never Trumper rinos) are in on it. I don’t think the death penalty for the ring leaders is out of the question in this case. It does constitute sedition, a coup and treason (they will all bow to the thier chinese paymasters) after all.
-
I always thought absentee ballot drop boxes were all over the place. They were easy to find because they were big, heavy, blue steel boxes that said “US Mail” all over them.

I’m also rethinking my usual wait till actual election day. The Covid factor may motivate me to go vote early. The thought of it possibly being hot or raining and not sure if I’d have to be in a 6-ft-apart line outside is daunting. Neighborhood FB group has been full of reports on some oddball locations around our area that people have already voted at, that had a short or no wait at all.
-
Yeah our normal voting location is not at the courthouse close by this year, it is all the way into Waller.

James Delingpole:
Renewable energy is cripplingly expensive, hopelessly unreliable, massacres wildlife, destroys landscapes, destabilises the grid, harms indigenous peoples, and causes climate change. But apart from that it’s great, says a meticulous review published in the scientific journal Energies by a team of Irish and U.S.-based researchers.
Actually, the part about renewable energy being ‘great’ is a joke but the rest is true. The scholarly review – Energy and Climate Policy – An Evaluation of Climate Change Expenditure 2011-2018 – is probably the most thorough meta-analysis published on the so-called ‘clean energy’ sector. Its conclusion, though neutrally expressed, could scarcely be more damning
From the report:
Concern for climate change is one of the drivers of new, transitional energy policies oriented towards economic growth and energy security, along with reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and preservation of biodiversity. Since 2010, the Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) has been publishing annual Global Landscape of Climate Finance reports. According to these reports, US$3660 billion* has been spent on global climate change projects over the period 2011–2018. Fifty-five percent of this expenditure has gone to wind and solar energy. According to world energy reports, the contribution of wind and solar to world energy consumption has increased from 0.5% to 3% over this period. Meanwhile, coal, oil, and gas continue to supply 85% of the world’s energy consumption, with hydroelectricity and nuclear providing most of the remainder.
*This is the way Europeans write $3.660 trillion.
-
and not sure if I’d have to be in a 6-ft-apart line outside is daunting.
Apparently to Dora, 12 ft is the new six ft. They had decals on the concrete outside and floor inside spaced ridiculously far apart.
-
A couple of days ago I posted the article from The Federalist which was a link to the CDC report of a study which clearly showed 70% of people who say they wear masks all the time caught the rona. FB flagged my post as false information.

So what’s our cute little County Judge-ette have to say these days about the restrictions on everything?
-
An informal survey of my neighbors, which are now 50/50 honkey/Hispanic, indicates 100% of honkeys are voting for Gropey and 100% of Hispanics are voting for Trump. I know the whole neighborhood doesn’t break down that way but it’s a good sign.
-
So what’s our cute little County Judge-ette have to say these days about the restrictions on everything?
All the surrounding counties are opening bars in accordance with Hotwheels guidelines. Not Dora.

Trouble in the wind for Hegar ?
State Sen. Royce West, D-Dallas, who narrowly lost to MJ Hegar in the runoff election for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in July, said Friday night that he’s not voting for her in her bid to unseat Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas.
“She’s had a problem all along with Black folks, I mean realistically, a real problem,” West told the American-Statesman when reached at home, where he said he had been watching Game 5 of the NBA Finals and not the Cornyn-Hegar televised debate, which also aired Friday evening.
“She has never reached out, and it is what it is with her, and I’m not voting for her; I’m not voting in that race,” West said.
Asked why he thought Hegar had not contacted him since her primary victory, West said, “It’s a good question, and I don’t know, to be honest with you.
“I know a lot of people not voting for her,” he added.
-
The guy whose mama is askeered of the rona (so you need to vote for him) says in his commercials he “served overseas for 14 years”, an implication the he served in the armed forces. In truth, he was a foreign service officer, essentially a small diplomatic cog in the massive deep state wheel.

Shannon’s representative in the Texas 10th District has an opponent with a problem. October is full of surprises.
A Texas Democrat signed a letter defending the integrity of domestic terrorist Bill Ayers.
While a student at Cornell Law School, congressional hopeful Mike Siegel joined a 2008 statement of solidarity with Bill Ayers, a self-described radical communist who was hunted for more than a decade by the FBI for his role in bombing government buildings.
“We write to support our colleague Professor William Ayers,” the letter reads. “The current characterizations of Professor Ayers—’unrepentant terrorist,’ ‘lunatic leftist’—are unrecognizable to those who know or work with him.”
As a founder and leader of the revolutionary terror cell known as Weather Underground, Ayers was involved in bombings at the Pentagon, U.S. Capitol, and New York City Police Department during the early 1970s. Weather Underground was one of many ultra-violent leftist groups that the FBI surveilled and dismantled throughout the 1970s.
-
Good grief! You are surrounded by hipsters.
Indeed.

At least we know Hammy won’t succumb to the man bun.

Sorry so long, I don’t know how to link it without going to his FB. From Paul Bettencourt-
I am not a fan of Harris County Commissioners court transferring all election functions away from elected officials to an Election Administrator, that works for 3 Democrat elected officials, and 2 party chairs..essentially a permanent 4 to 1 Democratic Party majority in urban counties in the State.
The EA or appointed Clerk Hollins, has tried to mail 2 million absentee ballot forms and setup nearly a dozen collection points without poll watchers only to be stopped in the courts. Now he sets up 10 mobile drive through polling locations with only one (Humble) in a Republican area of the County that you can see clearly on this map from a Texan story (https://bit.ly/3iYKf9d) were the Republican party of Texas is suing him.
Now clearly anyone with any knowledge of politics in Harris County can see by this map that these location are completely secluded in to Democrat parts of the county and nothing in the Texas election code allows Mr. Hollins to do this setup.
Immediately most media and Democrat officials started saying, like they did on the last two lawsuits, that this is Republican vote suppression when it’s the Democrats running the election!
In fact if you were a voter in NW Harris County on Tuesday, you could have tried to vote at Spring First Church and seen 18 unused E-slate voting machines, or at Barbara Bush and seen 6 to 10 unused e-slate voting booths, but you waited 2 hours to vote. Maybe you tried Klein Multipurpose center because there are no mobile sites up in the Republican northwest, but they had only 10 E-slate voting booths and it took 3 hours!!
This is what happens when Hollins can’t be voted out of office by customer complaints because he is only beholding to his Democratic party super majority board, and it takes 4 out of 5 board members to fire him..!
National Democrats just apparently announced Harris County had only one EV center with workday long waits at the Amy Comey Barrett confirmation hearing…
Really, if that was actually true he should be blaming Democrat run voter suppression in Harris County not Republicans, as they aren’t in charge of this urban election!
It is truly amazing how far this “myth” has traveled, and how little the media is willing to question it!!

This is sad and disgusting.
Residents of a rehab facility and nursing home in Colorado protested outside their building Thursday, saying they do not want to be restricted from visiting with or getting a hug from loved ones.
Many of the residents of Fairacres Manor in Greeley, Colorado, stood or sat in wheelchairs outside the facility holding signs that read, “Prisoners in our own home,” “Give us freedom,” and “Rather die from COVID than loneliness.”

Jackson, a black veteran, owns the Heroes American Cafe.
Two windows in the cafe’s downtown location were shot at and another was struck with a blunt object — possibly a baseball bat — said Jackson, a Black man who served in the Army and Marine Corps.
“I think it’s more psychological,” he said. “When I first came here [Portland] about 10 years ago, it was one of the most accepting cities that I knew of.”
“We’re for all heroes and we don’t support zeroes,” Jackson said. “So if you’re a bad cop, we don’t really have time for you. If you’re walking your beat and you’re taking care of your people or you’re saving lives, we love you.”
plus,
But Jackson will have the last word. Not only are people of good will planning to eat at his restaurant as never before, but he told Fox News that the attack “solidified my Trump vote. I’m done with this weakness and we need some real strong leadership.”

Okay, before my more serious item – I just saw a hilarious speech decoding on the TV. Chris Salcedo was signing off his show and the speech-to-text captions showed “The Gristle Sailor Show”. Made me LOL.
Next – It’s not often that I am impressed when I go to Wal-Mart, but my cashier really gave me hope this afternoon. He was a young black guy, looked to still be a teenager or at most, his early 20’s. He greeted me very respectfully and struck up a conversation with me about what I did. When I mentioned that we were closing down our plumbing company to focus on our real estate, there was a major perk! that happened on the other side of the conveyor belt. He said it was cool that we did that, how did we set up our management company, and was there someone that he could shadow to learn how to do it? I told him that were weren’t really that kind of “management company,” that we just did it ourselves, and he was impressed. He said he was taking a real estate course and wanted to learn about the industry. I asked why he was so motivated, and he said “I hate my job!” I laughed and fist bumped him, then congratulated him on being proactive about taking control of his life. “I have to!” he said. “Nobody else is going to!”
He offered to send me a Monday motivational text, which I declined. I then offered him a couple of investment web sites, which I wrote down for him to look into. I then thanked him for making my day, and wished him the best of luck in his endeavors. He wished me a blessed day and I left with a big smile on my face.
It’s nice to see young folks who actually don’t want to let the government run their lives, who are so outgoing and motivated. I wonder how big a network he’s developed with that motivational text thing? Smart move on his part.
I have a feeling he’ll be going places. He’s starting very young, so he has plenty of time to make his mistakes and learn from them.

I also went to Walmart today, mostly stocking up on cat food for our furry family. Something happened there today but I can’t remember now what it was. I got home, put things away, wrote a short post, then started to work on something. Later, I noticed I didn’t see my post, so I guess I didn’t post it after all. Social distancing is not improving my life in any way.

LOL. I think Carlson reads Hambone. He just referred to Hirono as someone “many people believe is the dullest person in the history of the senate.”

He just upped the ante and said she was the dumbest person ever to hold public office in the history of this country.
-
#61 Hamous that is too cool, I’ve heard of the Dixie Highway but I’ve never seen it. Have you seen old US 90 in Milton Florida, north of Pensacola? They still have a small stretch of brick road just north of the highway.
-
Newsmax is running a history of just how bad Biden was/is.
-
75. SD
I’m sure it will be renamed soon but there’s still a stretch of the Dixie Highway in Cincinnati. There are also long stretches of the old road along the east coast of Florida that generally parallels US 1, although I don’t think much of it is still brick.
Growing up, my paternal grandparents lived in Campbell Station outside of Kissimmee, off of the Old Tampa Highway. It was brick all the way to Davenport. I figured it had long been tore up so I was surprised to see part of the old brick road still existed. I learned to drive on that road in my dad’s Simca.

OK, bed time is about here. I’ve run out of gas for the day. You all have a good night.

Very sentimental story, yet sweet as can be. A friend posted it w/o a source cited.
At 40, Franz Kafka (1883-1924), who never married and had no children, walked through the park in Berlin when he met a girl who was crying because she had lost her favourite doll. She and Kafka searched for the doll unsuccessfully.
Kafka told her to meet him there the next day and they would come back to look for her.
The next day, when they had not yet found the doll, Kafka gave the girl a letter “written” by the doll saying “please don’t cry. I took a trip to see the world. I will write to you about my adventures.”
Thus began a story which continued until the end of Kafka’s life.
During their meetings, Kafka read the letters of the doll carefully written with adventures and conversations that the girl found adorable.
Finally, Kafka brought back the doll (he bought one) that had returned to Berlin.
“It doesn’t look like my doll at all,” said the girl.
Kafka handed her another letter in which the doll wrote: “my travels have changed me.” the little girl hugged the new doll and brought her happy home.
A year later Kafka died.
Many years later, the now-adult girl found a letter inside the doll. In the tiny letter signed by Kafka it was written:
“Everything you love will probably be lost, but in the end, love will return in another way.” -
Late again today to catch up on the day’s Hamster news. Sounds as though we’ve all had an interesting day, and the notes on election site experiences has to be helpful to the rest of us who haven’t voted yet.
G’night all.

Top o the morn to you Dave. And the rest as well. No news of any import that I’m aware of floating around out here. May go chop a little bee brush today. Miscellaneous other chores to take care of. Hope that each and every one of you have a great day out there today. More later as it develops.

El Gordo did the city successfully repair their leak without destroying your line?
-
#83 – Yes, they replaced a 55 year old rubber gasket in their fittings without disturbing my connection, or at least it look OK. I left it uncovered for a couple of days to make sure no leaks, and covering it back up is on my todo list.
Senatorette Hiro Hito knows how to use science to get to the bottom of this SCOTUS thing. From America’s Newspaper of Record, news you can trust. https://babylonbee.com/news/senator-hirono-demands-acb-be-weighed-against-a-duck-to-see-if-she-is-a-witch

BTW, just because you don’t get up early like SD and I doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t vote early. Find a convenient voting location, it doesn’t have to be your own precinct like on election day, take your DL and your registration card, and go vote. It won’t get any easier later on than it is right now, and this is the only shot you will have to determine the direction your very own government goes. It not just abortion and guns, it’s down to allowing criminals to rule your streets, legalized theft, rioting, and looting, and other things that affect your daily life. Just because some deprived kid thinks he should take your car away from you and drive it around until he wrecks it doesn’t make it right. So vote now to be sure it gets in the hopper.
