If you are not reading Mark Bauerlein, you are in the dark about what is actually happening in America. He accurately describes what is a struggle for raw power here and sounds the alarm for the Right to recognize and realize the rules of civic virtue and classical liberal principles no longer apply. Donald Trump intuitively understands the Public Square is now an existential battlefield for control of our civilization. Whether he realized it when he took the job, we will probably never know, but he is the man for the job and is proving the “great man” theory of history, everyday.

Conservatives who appeal to liberal ideals in the context of existing institutions, be they the longstanding mores of cooperation in the Senate or academic freedom in the university, are beating their heads against a wall. Are they still naïve enough to assume that Senate decorum is enough to restrain an identity politician such as Senator Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii)?

Conservatives lost the war of positions long ago. Woods is a great actor, but so what? Murray is one of the great social scientists of our time, but no academic department would have him.

Donald Trump understands this. That’s one reason the Left despises him. He typically doesn’t bother to debate ideas and ideals, but this is not anti-intellectualism, as the liberal says. It is, instead, his awareness that politics is now, first and foremost, a battle of persons, not ideologies or tax rates or trade. The Kavanaugh episode proves the point, for this battle was all about the individual (which is one reason why Supreme Court appointments are so heated).

About those rumors flying around concerning photos of Adam Schiff and Ed Buck.
Redstate has never even received any photos even though Jack Burkman keeps tweeting they are going to publish them.
Hearing this, I replied that if such photos were sent to us we would have to have them digitally analyzed and I’d have to be able to independently verify with my law enforcement sources in the Buck investigation that the photo was legit. Then there would be internal discussions about if and when we would publish it. If we as an editorial team decided to promote a story in advance of publication, that promotion would occur on the site and on our official social media accounts.
In my mind, the issue was finished at that time since no one at the site had such photos and, clearly, we couldn’t publish what we didn’t have. I haven’t been in communication with Wohl or Burkman since that time.

Since I don’t know Burkman or Wohl other than through this episode, I’m not assigning any malicious intent behind them dragging me and RedState into whatever is happening here. Whether they intended to or not, though, their tweets imply that both I and the site are involved in some opposition research conspiracy with them and the NRCC. Journalists on the left could use these tweets to allege that I and/or the site are engaged in a blackmail/extortion scheme against Adam Schiff. That response wouldn’t be without precedent; in October and November 2019 I was falsely accused of blackmailing Katie Hill by numerous left-wing writers and major publications on the basis of tweets made by people I’ve never met. I was even falsely accused of participating in an opposition research conspiracy with the man who had me blackballed in California politics (as retribution for reporting misconduct by a GOP officeholder) simply because the man tweeted and wrote Facebook posts saying he’d received hundreds of photos of Hill.

#12 – The real sleeper in this FISA deal is the judge, Rosemary Collyer, who was in on the deal from the beginning, and who was conveniently swept off the stage and replaced by an Obama appointee at the first sign of trouble. No doubt in my mind that she was in on this conspiracy from the beginning, but they hushed her up quickly. Now the Obama judge simply says that mistakes were made and we promise not to make them any more. FBI Director Wray has created a list of 40 things to do before going back to the FISA court, but the point is this is not a failure of the process. The highest ranking law enforcement officials in the land cooked this deal up, and they will do it again if they are not punished. The cover-up and white wash of this deal is almost complete, and it will be erased from history soon. Pathetic.
I’d like to complain some more about the Senate trial, but no one is listening, so that’s a waste of time. The only real news is that Schifft is obviously auditioning for Feinstein’s Senate seat.

What little I did hear, I noticed a bunch of those idiots, were running interference for BiteMe and his boy. I guess that they’re hoping for witnesses and know that they’ll have to deal with that issue sometime. Speaking of IDIOTS! Hamous’ favorite Congress Critter is unbelievably, stupid. I’ve never heard her speak on anything, but she was bloviating for a long time yesterday and she did the Democrats no favors…..Mercy,….

I worked late – again – trying to close out our end of year stuff for the CPA and, in general, still trying to catch up. I’m making progress, but there’s still stuff to be done. I wanted to make sure my insomnia didn’t attack me again, despite the overwhelming fatigue (I’ve been way behind on my sleep hours lately), so I took some melatonin.
So, no, the explosion didn’t wake me up. It could have been right next door and I think I would’ve slept through it. Heck, it could have been right under my bed…but, wait – I wouldn’t have heard that one, either. For a whole different reason.

I hear that Trump is going to make an appearance. That’s going to wiss off the press, for two reasons: (1) they hate pro-lifers and have successfully ignored covering this huge event in the past, and (2) Trump’s appearance means they’ll have to at least mention him/them. Well, maybe not. I wouldn’t put it past them to ignore a public event by the President just because, like vampires in sunshine, being near something like this will make them shrivel up and die.
I wonder if Nicholas Sandman will be attending? Will we have another moment that will be highly litigable?

Two days after news broke that one of its students had been sent to a Chinese prison for a series of social media posts made while he was in the United States, the University of Minnesota is still not commenting on the situation.
“We just became aware of this situation when media began reaching out yesterday,” university spokesman Jake Ricker told The College Fix via email Thursday. “The university has not issued a statement on the matter.”
Spokespersons for Democratic Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith of Minnesota both declined to respond to requests from The Fix for comment.

I love Cormorant’s, one of many birds that really like. The Cormorant is an interesting, diving, water bird. Unlike Ducks and Geese, he lacks oil glands that would make him waterproof. A Duck will float naturally, a Cormorant, sinks, maybe this makes in a superior diver, and they can dive deep, you often see Ducks feeding with their butt’s in the air, floating on the water, the Cormorant swims just under the surface with only his head and neck exposed. After they dive, their wings become wet and they have a hard time flying, so the hold them out to dry, that is what he is doing in Squawk’s picture. I’ll add that this, of course, doesn’t happen to Ducks.

When I was a young’un, at the behest of my grandfather, I shot a cormorant who was feasting on all the fingerling channel cat he had just stocked his pond with. Normally I would have to eat whatever I shot. Side note – meadow lark doesn’t taste bad. We opened up that cormorant. I’ve never seen so many parasitic worms. They were wrapped around every organ. I don’t know how that bird was living. I didn’t have to eat him.

I wish they do more of that at night, back when the Huey Cobra’s were new, they’d make a strafing run with their mini-guns, with every tenth round a tracer. They fired so damn fast the it looked like they were shining a laser on the target. Of course, they only fired for a few seconds, making a loud burping sound for a few seconds. If I remember right, the Mini-guns had multi-barrels, firing 308 ammo, I bet Sarge would know.

Always properly armed but $6 is mighty cheap considering I know some folks that will pay $10 per swamp rat. Swamp rat is featured on their menus and an adult Nutria can feed about 4-6 people. Coonass will eat just about anything the swamp has to offer.

Brand new, BTW, still had a small piece of aluminum wire on it. I picked it up on Dillard Station Road, where the REA is replacing poles and stringing new wire.

#102 – Word is that Linda Graham had her own thing going over in Ukraine as well. Heard that story some time back and don’t know any details, but apparently he really would prefer not to have anyone going over there and poking around too much. Rudy can go because everyone knows he’s a nut case, but no real investigators.
I noticed today that on a couple of occasions the Dems quoted Linda and had photos of things he said during the Clinton era. He may have like that, or maybe not, never know with Linda. Depends on the time of the month I guess.
Skunk would have been my answer to the Brother Dave question. I’ve got a couple that come out in the night near my house, and I must have seen 8 or 10 dead ones on the road to Marble Falls last Monday. Another good year for skunks it seems. Say, wonder if those alligators could survive with limited water and an abundance of skunks for food? Might be worth a try.
