First!
A fine cast of reptilian characters this morning.
Third?
Mornin’ Gang
If you are not reading Mark Bauerlein, you are in the dark about what is actually happening in America. He accurately describes what is a struggle for raw power here and sounds the alarm for the Right to recognize and realize the rules of civic virtue and classical liberal principles no longer apply. Donald Trump intuitively understands the Public Square is now an existential battlefield for control of our civilization. Whether he realized it when he took the job, we will probably never know, but he is the man for the job and is proving the “great man” theory of history, everyday.
If you read nothing else today, read this.
Conservatives who appeal to liberal ideals in the context of existing institutions, be they the longstanding mores of cooperation in the Senate or academic freedom in the university, are beating their heads against a wall. Are they still naïve enough to assume that Senate decorum is enough to restrain an identity politician such as Senator Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii)?
and this,
This is how the game works. It’s not a contest of ideas, it’s a competition for jobs. As leftists take over human resources offices, reduce the number of conservatives on the faculty to less than 3 percent, make appointments to political office contingent upon compliance with political correctness, and exile troublemakers and nonconformists such as James Woods and Charles Murray, the game as conservatives used to understand it is over. Conservatives lost the war of positions long ago. Woods is a great actor, but so what? Murray is one of the great social scientists of our time, but no academic department would have him.
and most importantly,
Donald Trump understands this. That’s one reason the Left despises him. He typically doesn’t bother to debate ideas and ideals, but this is not anti-intellectualism, as the liberal says. It is, instead, his awareness that politics is now, first and foremost, a battle of persons, not ideologies or tax rates or trade. The Kavanaugh episode proves the point, for this battle was all about the individual (which is one reason why Supreme Court appointments are so heated).
RTWDT.
There was a huge asplosion at Gessner and Clay road around 04:30 today. The area will be closed off for most of today and prolly some of tomorrow.
About those rumors flying around concerning photos of Adam Schiff and Ed Buck.
Redstate has never even received any photos even though Jack Burkman keeps tweeting they are going to publish them.
Hearing this, I replied that if such photos were sent to us we would have to have them digitally analyzed and I’d have to be able to independently verify with my law enforcement sources in the Buck investigation that the photo was legit. Then there would be internal discussions about if and when we would publish it. If we as an editorial team decided to promote a story in advance of publication, that promotion would occur on the site and on our official social media accounts.
In my mind, the issue was finished at that time since no one at the site had such photos and, clearly, we couldn’t publish what we didn’t have. I haven’t been in communication with Wohl or Burkman since that time.
Did anyone get woke up by the explosion this morning? I slept right through it. Didn’t even know about it until I got a call from our office about a mile away.
#6 Texpat, from your post, the bold part kind of pertains to your #4.
Since I don’t know Burkman or Wohl other than through this episode, I’m not assigning any malicious intent behind them dragging me and RedState into whatever is happening here. Whether they intended to or not, though, their tweets imply that both I and the site are involved in some opposition research conspiracy with them and the NRCC. Journalists on the left could use these tweets to allege that I and/or the site are engaged in a blackmail/extortion scheme against Adam Schiff. That response wouldn’t be without precedent; in October and November 2019 I was falsely accused of blackmailing Katie Hill by numerous left-wing writers and major publications on the basis of tweets made by people I’ve never met. I was even falsely accused of participating in an opposition research conspiracy with the man who had me blackballed in California politics (as retribution for reporting misconduct by a GOP officeholder) simply because the man tweeted and wrote Facebook posts saying he’d received hundreds of photos of Hill.
Oh and #5, whatever you do, RTWDT.
Shannon, if you’re lurking, I read an article, about Moose Hunting in Alaska and the guy fixed up a SS Marlin, 45 70, with a tactical forearm and a Red Dot sight, good for about 200 yards. The G&A Magazine had a neat picture of the rifle setup but I couldn’t find it online.
HEADLINE: BREAKING: DOJ Rules Comey’s FBI Had ‘Insufficient Predication To Establish Probable Cause’ In FISA Scandal
/snip“Thanks in large part to the work of the Office of the Inspector General, U.S. Department of Justice, the Court has received notice of material misstatements and omissions in the applications filed by the government in the above-captioned dockets,” the letter stated. “DOJ assesses that with respect to the applications in Docket Numbers 17-375 and 17-679, ‘if not earlier, there was insufficient predication to establish probable cause to believe that [Carter] Page was acting as an agent of a foreign power.’”
There are 17 material problems described in the article, READ THEM. All of these problems were known or should have been known by Comey, yet he continued. Comey belongs in prison.
VERY imaginative Squawkster!
Well DONE!
#5 – Gas line perhumps?
or we don’t know yet?
Good morning, y’all. I feel bad for those people whose houses were damaged, or even demolished, by that chemical explosion in West Houston.
#12 – The real sleeper in this FISA deal is the judge, Rosemary Collyer, who was in on the deal from the beginning, and who was conveniently swept off the stage and replaced by an Obama appointee at the first sign of trouble. No doubt in my mind that she was in on this conspiracy from the beginning, but they hushed her up quickly. Now the Obama judge simply says that mistakes were made and we promise not to make them any more. FBI Director Wray has created a list of 40 things to do before going back to the FISA court, but the point is this is not a failure of the process. The highest ranking law enforcement officials in the land cooked this deal up, and they will do it again if they are not punished. The cover-up and white wash of this deal is almost complete, and it will be erased from history soon. Pathetic.
I’d like to complain some more about the Senate trial, but no one is listening, so that’s a waste of time. The only real news is that Schifft is obviously auditioning for Feinstein’s Senate seat.
Looking like a nice day out here. High mid 60s, light winds, no clouds. Pretty nice for January weather. You all have a great day, and more later. I’ll probably start whining about the impeachment trial again before the day is done.
BTW, great OC photos this morning.
I’ve watched little of the Impeachment Fiasco, mainly since what little I heard was just a replay of all the other hearings. What little I did hear, I noticed a bunch of those idiots, were running interference for BiteMe and his boy. I guess that they’re hoping for witnesses and know that they’ll have to deal with that issue sometime. Speaking of IDIOTS! Hamous’ favorite Congress Critter is unbelievably, stupid. I’ve never heard her speak on anything, but she was bloviating for a long time yesterday and she did the Democrats no favors…..Mercy,….
Did anyone get woke up by the explosion this morning? I slept right through it. Didn’t even know about it until I got a call from our office about a mile away.
I worked late – again – trying to close out our end of year stuff for the CPA and, in general, still trying to catch up. I’m making progress, but there’s still stuff to be done. I wanted to make sure my insomnia didn’t attack me again, despite the overwhelming fatigue (I’ve been way behind on my sleep hours lately), so I took some melatonin.
So, no, the explosion didn’t wake me up. It could have been right next door and I think I would’ve slept through it. Heck, it could have been right under my bed…but, wait – I wouldn’t have heard that one, either. For a whole different reason.

Well, that didn’t work. I’ll have to figure this out later and try again.
Has anyone heard if Firefox has fixed their security problem?
This headline says it all…
#20 – Just make certain that your Firefox is properly updated and there is no problem. And if you use Duck Duck Go for a browser, it won’t track and report your every keystroke and your every move like most of those others do.
I do love my DuckDuck. Thanks.
I see there’s thousands of pro-lifers gathering at the Capitol.
I hear that Trump is going to make an appearance. That’s going to wiss off the press, for two reasons: (1) they hate pro-lifers and have successfully ignored covering this huge event in the past, and (2) Trump’s appearance means they’ll have to at least mention him/them. Well, maybe not. I wouldn’t put it past them to ignore a public event by the President just because, like vampires in sunshine, being near something like this will make them shrivel up and die.
I wonder if Nicholas Sandman will be attending? Will we have another moment that will be highly litigable?

#22 M42:. Isn’t criticism of government authorities kind of the main point of THE FIRST AMENDMENT? The notion that said proposed legislation could pass the first challenge on 1A grounds is absurd.
Great pics Squawk, don’t stop.
I do notice that the pile of wiss has been stepped in.
I’d like to complain some more about the Senate trial, but no one is listening, so that’s a waste of time.
Go ahead and complain I’ll read it.

Bernie’s supporters want death and gulags for non-conformists so abolishing criticism of the totalitarian is only a natural progression for the totalitariancrats in Virginia.

SHOT:
Minnesota’s U.S. Senators also decline comment
Two days after news broke that one of its students had been sent to a Chinese prison for a series of social media posts made while he was in the United States, the University of Minnesota is still not commenting on the situation.
“We just became aware of this situation when media began reaching out yesterday,” university spokesman Jake Ricker told The College Fix via email Thursday. “The university has not issued a statement on the matter.”
Spokespersons for Democratic Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith of Minnesota both declined to respond to requests from The Fix for comment.
CHASER:
There are 2,500 Chinese undergraduate students at the University of Minnesota. The annual tuition for out of state students is $23,806. This means Chinese students are paying $59,515,000 each year in tuition to attend the school.
It’s no wonder they keep their mouths shut. Fifty-nine extra large is a lot of cash and pays for all kinds of social justice warrior apparatchiks.
We’re doomed.
Please call Commissioner Gordon on the Bat phone STAT.
I guess possum butt will be the next eating fad.
Independent contractors across the nation could soon be suffering the same fate as their California counterparts. A federal version has passed through committee and now sits in the House of Representatives waiting for a floor vote. This is not a drill. This is real.
H.R.2474 – benignly titled ‘The PRO Act’ was originally drafted in May of 2019 as a union-strengthening bill. In its infancy it had nothing to do with independent contractors and everything to do with thwarting the Janus decision.
and,
But this is government and with government there is never enough. Somewhere between September of 2019 and December of 2019 someone added an amendment to the behemoth employer-rights killer that was a simple copy and paste of California’s AB5. In fact, it is so awkwardly jammed into the text that it can be nothing other than a literal copy and paste.
plus this,
I suspect one reason House Democrats have been quiet is that they are hoping they can pass this bill before 2020 elections, win the Senate and then just vote on it once the pesky opposition is gone.
This should terrify you.
Congress is notorious for their gridlock, and yet this bill was drafted in May, out of committee by September and amended by December. That is lightening speed when it comes to Capitol Hill. Yes, it still needs a final vote.
SURPRISE!
A letter from sponsoring Democrats has already been signed and is sitting on Nancy Pelosi’s desk right now. The date? January 9, 2020. This bill is on your doorstep and no one has said a word.
Hey, teacher, those are some beautiful frontal lobes you have there.
Nicole Dufault, 40, avoided going to trial by reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors, which will require her to give up her teaching license and register as a sex offender, NorthJersey.com reported.
Dufault was accused of having sex with six Columbia High School students on several occasion from 2013 to 2014, both in her classroom and in her car, according to NJ.com.
but wait,
In 2015, Dufault’s attorney released a statement claiming his client suffers from “frontal lobe syndrome,” a condition which made her unable to control her impulses.
Timothy Smith also said the students had been the aggressors in the sexual encounters.
But I thought the greek midget was a real journ0list.

Upon further inspection of Ms Dufault’s frontal lobes, I can where there may be a problem. Things look a little lopsided.

Just like the Box family!
Their feet have webbing between all four toes.
Hammy, I have an email from the Sears Optical on Shepherd, they are closing. I am going to call and see if Dr Lin is also moving and if so, where. And when. I was going to get a referral for cataract surgery in February. In fact, I have an appointment, it’s on my calendar.

If the peas and carrots are part of a larger vegetable medley with, say, corn an green beans is it acceptable?

Yup, I just got the email too. I never buy anything in the store but I like Dr. Lin. Let me know what you find out.
Just like the Box family!

And all 11 fingers,
Well rats. Dr Lin has moved out already, and opens next week in Memorial City. Also has 2 other locations where he goes one day a week.
Dr Lin has moved out already, and opens next week in Memorial City.
I don’t like him THAT much.
Apparently Chief Avocado is in charge of the USMC now.
I love me some Joe Cocker but dang watching him sing back in the day was a painful experience. i mean the guy looks like an epileptic chicken moving around on stage. (Second only to Mick Jagger). I challenge anyone to listen to this song and write down the lyrics as he sings. No cheating Googling or recalling from memory. I wanna see your results.
If the peas and carrots are part of a larger vegetable medley with, say, corn an green beans is it acceptable?
Tired best describes the vegetable medley.
I’m a segregationist when it comes to green beans and corn.
Peas and carrots are only allowed in chicken pot pies. And stew.
Cooking a perfectly good raw carrot generally unleashes a real nastiness.
He can’t help himself.
He’s back to TRUMP IS A RUSSIAN AGENT.
I’m still mulling the chili on pancakes idea.
It might actually help the vastly overrated pancake.
I love Cormorant’s, one of many birds that really like. The Cormorant is an interesting, diving, water bird. Unlike Ducks and Geese, he lacks oil glands that would make him waterproof. A Duck will float naturally, a Cormorant, sinks, maybe this makes in a superior diver, and they can dive deep, you often see Ducks feeding with their butt’s in the air, floating on the water, the Cormorant swims just under the surface with only his head and neck exposed. After they dive, their wings become wet and they have a hard time flying, so the hold them out to dry, that is what he is doing in Squawk’s picture. I’ll add that this, of course, doesn’t happen to Ducks.
The Schifty Schitter said a long time ago he had absolute proof that Trump colluded with Russia but never produced it.
Mr Potato Head never asks him about it as he snacks on Mako shark sushi and saltines.
Just another of a million lies from the Schifty Schitter’s pie hole.
BTW; When I first tuned in today, I thought for a second, that the Squawkster had commandeered my Rat Snake picture, taken in the Tractor Shed last summer.

You’re an interesting specimen. You should leave your taste buds to science.
I love Cormorant’s, one of many birds that really like.
When I was a young’un, at the behest of my grandfather, I shot a cormorant who was feasting on all the fingerling channel cat he had just stocked his pond with. Normally I would have to eat whatever I shot. Side note – meadow lark doesn’t taste bad. We opened up that cormorant. I’ve never seen so many parasitic worms. They were wrapped around every organ. I don’t know how that bird was living. I didn’t have to eat him.
Sounds like the Apache’s are tearing up Longstreet Range, with their big Gatling guns. I wish they do more of that at night, back when the Huey Cobra’s were new, they’d make a strafing run with their mini-guns, with every tenth round a tracer. They fired so damn fast the it looked like they were shining a laser on the target. Of course, they only fired for a few seconds, making a loud burping sound for a few seconds. If I remember right, the Mini-guns had multi-barrels, firing 308 ammo, I bet Sarge would know.
The Boy is all excited about his upcoming trip to Houston for the manager of the year, party and he texted me the watch is buying for the occasion? WHUT?!

I’ve read that doing that also heats up their feathers, skin and kills external parasites.
Not so much internal ones.
Nice pics
Cormorants a.k.a. “shags” are da debbil.
Who knew that Flarada Man Friday was here already. I think I recognize my first ex-wife in the garage scene. I should add that the picture is not all that clear, but I do recognize the NSFW language. I think those cormorants eat their weight in baby fish every day. Seems like I read that somewhere sometime.

Speaking of rats !
If Squawk and B-Sue would take proper weaponry with them on their photo shoot expeditions, they could cover fuel and food expenses.
Louisiana’s most infamous semi-aquatic rodent — with webbed toes and Cheetos-colored buck teeth — now has a higher bounty on its head.
After three years of low nutria catches, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has raised from $5 to $6 the amount it will pay for each nutria killed in the upcoming 2019-20 season.
The move is an attempt to reverse a decline in the number of nutria caught or killed. The program was holding fairly steady until the 2016-17 season, when nutria catches fell by about 38%.

RE: Nutria and proper weapons
Always properly armed but $6 is mighty cheap considering I know some folks that will pay $10 per swamp rat. Swamp rat is featured on their menus and an adult Nutria can feed about 4-6 people. Coonass will eat just about anything the swamp has to offer.

The hell you say Brother Squawk.:)
Maybe the alligators are eating all of them. Story at 10:00. Oh, and the ball is on the tee for the next lucky commentator or commentatorette.
Taking alligator food out of the swamp will push those lizards out of the swamp in search of food. Out of the swamp means closer to humans and pets – bad idea – nothing good can come from it.

When Hayes is on Special Report they usually have Mollie Hemingway on too. Hayes usually goes first then Hemingway eviscerates his never trumper argument. Fun to watch.
If any witnesses are called Coke Hunter Biden must be one of them. I predict that Romnutz will say no because one of his spawn is in jeopardy because he too was on the Burisma board, I think.
I would prefer no witnesses and a quick end to the proceedings and of course a not guilty verdict. If the Ds want to keep abusing this chicken, then break it off in their collective . . . . .cloaca. Let the blood bath begin.
guess what I picked up off the side of the road today?….
You guys came up with some fine answers, but didn’t hit the mark. Believe or not, the boy came closest to what I thought the answer might be,….Possum, ST, just rolled her eyes and didn’t hazard a guess, but it was really only an REA Spool, you can’t have too many of them…But DAYAAM, that thing was heavy, I had a hell of a time getting it into the back of the truck. Brand new, BTW, still had a small piece of aluminum wire on it. I picked it up on Dillard Station Road, where the REA is replacing poles and stringing new wire.

I say Lindsey is right. Investigating Hunter Biden has nothing to do with the crazy scheme to impeach Trump. Get the shifffft show done first.
the boy came closest to what I thought the answer might be,….Possum
That’s pretty much what I said 😉
#102 – Word is that Linda Graham had her own thing going over in Ukraine as well. Heard that story some time back and don’t know any details, but apparently he really would prefer not to have anyone going over there and poking around too much. Rudy can go because everyone knows he’s a nut case, but no real investigators.
I noticed today that on a couple of occasions the Dems quoted Linda and had photos of things he said during the Clinton era. He may have like that, or maybe not, never know with Linda. Depends on the time of the month I guess.
Skunk would have been my answer to the Brother Dave question. I’ve got a couple that come out in the night near my house, and I must have seen 8 or 10 dead ones on the road to Marble Falls last Monday. Another good year for skunks it seems. Say, wonder if those alligators could survive with limited water and an abundance of skunks for food? Might be worth a try.
