Lying Liars and the Lies They Tell.

The passage of bills she voted against is not the worst thing for which Warren has tried to claim undeserved credit (Native American heritage). Anti-capitalist filmmaker Michael Moore said on his podcast that Warren has a propensity to “embellish the truth” with half-truths and exaggerations for political gain.

Warren is hardly the first Democrat in the Trump era to claim credit for legislation she voted against. In late December, celebrity freshman representative Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) applauded the House’s passage of a bill that included debt relief for her native Somalia, despite being one of the 75 Democrats who voted against the legislation.

If you missed it, be sure to go back and read Shannon’s #51 from last night.
Noah Berlatsky Trump voters motivated by racism may be violating the Constitution. Can they be stopped?

Rush is out with the flu and yesterday his guest host, (don’t know him) said something about the new “Talking Points” for the Democrats and Lamestream Media is RACIAM!!! Although this has never stuck, since it is a total lie, they’re trying to resurrect it, because it’s all they have.

#2 I’m sure that everyone has heard Elizabeth Warren telling Bernie that he called her a lair on national TV. HA! She lied about being an Injun to get a prestigious position at Harvard Law School, denying a real “Person of Color” the position. Several times, on the campaign trail she lied about getting fired for being pregnant, she lied about her kids going to public school and she said something about protecting the environment from big, dirty oil companies when in fact she was doing the bidding for them as a highly paid lawyer. Give me a break.

This will likely be interesting to no one, but I thought that it was. We all know that CNN is being force-fed to everybody in every airport on the planet, well, last week I checked into the Flea Bag Hilton over in Nassau Bay. When I turned on the TV, it was on CNN, and I thought, how odd, usually the TV would be on some mindless channel that no one with an I.Q. over 80 could watch, OR the Mesican network, this is of course, because it was left on whatever channel the last person watching it. So, I’m not really a conspiracy nut, but I put the TV on Fox and turned it off, when I turned it back on, it came up on CNN! Every time I turned the damn thing on, it was on CNN! …..Now where did I put my Tin Foil Hat?

…but I put the TV on Fox and turned it off, when I turned it back on, it came up on CNN!

    Observations from the field:

Having lived in hotels more than I’ve lived in my house for the last 18 months I can add some real world data.

95% of the time hotels have their TVs set to a default channel. 99% of that time that default channel is 0 and is usually a hotel version of the Weather Channel or occasionally a rolling version of something like Entertainment Tonight celebrity gossip. The other 5% of the time it starts up on the last channel watched.

If the default is celebrity gossip I usually go into the settings and change it to last channel watched. I’ve never seen one default to CNN or any other specific channel other than the two mentioned above. My guess is a previous TDS-infected guest figured out you can reset the default behavior or maybe the hotel manager has a severe case of TDS.

Who knows, we might even strike up an argument about who the best baseball player or the best college QB ever was before the day is out.

As, I believe, the only resident college football player here, I’d be interested in your opinion on the best college QB. The tricky part is disassociating their pro career from their college career. Seems like very few of the greats in college have success in the pros.

  24. El Gordo Avatar

#23 – Joe Burrow is probably the best college QB ever. He seems able to thread the needle every throw and escape blitzes and rushes more often than most. You never know how these guys will turn out as pros because the games are so different. Over the years there have been great college QB that I have seen, and probably more that were before my time. For instance, I never saw Slingin’ Sammy Baugh play, but I did get to meet him once. King Hill was a first round draft pick as he could pass, run, kick, and make interceptions on defense. The usuals such as Montana, Namath, Plunkett, and many others. The best I ever saw at reading defenses and finding the open receiver is Major Applewhite. I guess I could go on forever and never get all the good ones listed. Right now, Burrow is the best ever IMHO.

  25. El Gordo Avatar

Best college football team ever – this year’s LS&U Tigers. It was pretty awesome when the band is playing Neck and they are taking a knee inside the defending national champion Clemson 5 just to keep from running up the score. What else could you have done in a college football game to exhibit your clear superiority?

President Trump and the Chicago Spice War

I’m very picky about my spices and after discovering Penzy’s shortly before they opened their store in the Heights around 2001, I started buying all my spices there.  Superb quality at prices significantly lower than those tiny little bottles in the grocery stores.

For over 15 years, I ordered all my spices online from them in Chicago….until Donald Trump ran for the White House and the owner, Bill Penzey, completely flipped out.  He began writing anti-Trump diatribes on his website, e-mailing anti-Trump rants to his customers and insulting people all over the place who challenged his asininity.

Penzeys Spices has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars this fall promoting Facebook ads — long stream-of-consciousness missives — supporting impeachment of Trump or railing against the Republican Party and Fox News. After the 2016 election, Penzey sent an email blast to customers, saying if they voted for Trump they had “just committed the biggest act of racism in American history since Wallace stood in the schoolhouse doorway 53 years ago,” referring to the segregationist Alabama Gov. George Wallace.

Fortunately, I discovered his sister and her husband run a competing spice company called The Spice House.  They welcomed all the insulted customers and Trump supporters who moved their business to them and promised not to involve politics in their passion for their company.

I think The Spice House products are even better than the brother’s goods.  I always order the large quantities because it’s an even better deal.

Apparently, the sister and brother were raised together in their parent’s spice store, but no longer have anything to do with one another.  The brother, obviously, is a world class jackass.

When I make my chili, I use these Spice House ingredients:

    Ancho Chile Powder*

    Paprika, Hungarian Half-Sharp

    Ground Cumin

    Black Pepper, Indian Tellicherry**

*Man, this is seriously great chili powder.

** Once you use this pepper, you’ll never go back to that McCormick crap.

I swear that I don’t remember that one.
But, then, I don’t remember much from 1974 – just bits and pieces from my graduation party.

Interesting stuff from Wiki about the song:

“Fingerprint File” is the closing track from the Rolling Stones’ 1974 album It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll. It is one of their first attempts to branch out into dance or electronic music, and the song resembles music by Sly and the Family Stone. Key ingredients of the song are the rhythm guitar played by Mick Jagger, which features heavy phasing due to the use of the MXR Phase 100 effects pedal, and the highly jazz/funk-oriented bass guitar played by Mick Taylor. Keith Richards uses the wah-wah pedal for his guitar part. Bill Wyman is on synthesiser, Charlie Watts on drums, Billy Preston on clavinet, and Nicky Hopkins on piano. Charlie Jolly Kunjappu is featured on the tabla.

Our rain ahead of the front, a whole 0.02″ so far, barely wet the pavement and left a few tiny puddles in the low spots. Wind out of the northwest now ripples Old Glory on the front porch. As the sky gets lighter to the NW some rain falls with more vigor and wets the pavement under trees. This is not a rainfall bonanza. Temp slowly fell to 69 from the high of 70. Started out at 67 at 6am.

This front is not in a hurry.

Morning gang. Just got up from my little nap. Wait, it’s not morning any more. One of my baseball player friends says that there is a reason that no players were punished in the great baseball sign heist; nor were any owners punished. Seems the owners have their own cartel, and the players have the players union, or cartel, if you will. He projects that sign stealing will reach an even higher pitch now that the players know they are immune from punishment, and that they will be smart enough not to tell anyone else about it. Now I certainly question that smart part referencing baseball players, but it does sort of make sense to me.

Then, that same guy told me that he goes to the women’s march every year because there is no other place on earth where he can fill his emptiness and need for total and complete immersion into insanity from time to time. That also makes sense to me, since he actually is pretty crazy. I’m beginning to understand, and that’s sort of scary in itself.

If the owners have their Cosa Nostra and the players their own mob, it looks like managers and coaches are innocent bystanders in a never ending crossfire since MLB league executives are the toady lackeys of the owners.

When California defied all known data about human nature and decriminalized retail theft, well, retail theft skyrocketed throughout the state.  You can’t cure ignorance in stupid people.  It simply can’t be done so more sign stealing now.

As rich as baseball players are now they can hire their own surveillance satellites, camera drones that look like insects in the stadium, cameras in the buttons of the second baseman, microscopic earpieces in the batters’ ears – the possibilities are endless as the managers and coaches keep getting fired.

  71. El Gordo Avatar

This Virginia thing might be fun to watch. First of all, if there is a bunch of gun totin’ bible thumpin’ people showing up there, you can bet they are not the 2A supporters – they are the Dem plants sent in there to start some agitation. Secondly, if any members of the Virginia political scene plan to even be around for the event, they are fools. This will merely turn into another demonstration for the perpetually outraged to burn some cars and break some windows while the 2A folks are holding some reasonable sort of event somewhere else. So let the fights begin, surely the media can rustle up a small mob to shout obscenities and scuffle with the police or someone. Then blame it all on Trump. Meanwhile, I’m hearing that half or more of the Va counties are petitioning to join West Va and leaving Va – and apparently it is entirely legal to do so. Maybe I’m all wrong about this, but I expect another big nothingburger.

Morning troubadours. Somehow I managed to survive a Satrday without college football, but I did watch Miss State introducing Mike Leach and some of his interviews, etc. around the state. He was on his good behavior and did not really crack any profound insults. Also, he was sporting a brand new suit apparently obtained with the help of a alum who is in the business as it looked like some of the alterations were just pinned together for now – but he advised the crowd not to get used to seeing him wearing a suit. I further assume that this deal came together so fast that he did not have time to go home and pack any clothes for his trip from Pullman to Starksville. Anyway, looks like he will hit the ground running and start to assemble a staff as spring training starts in just a few weeks. He said the new system would take a week to instal, but it might take 2 weeks for it to really start to hum – again tongue in cheek I assume.
Out here it was 24 degrees when I got up, but bright sun and no clouds should lead to a nice warm up before long. The rain from the past couple of days has forced the fire ants to the surface, so I’m treating the mounds with Spectracide. looks like spring has sprung around here, but we will have some hard freezes before Easter, so those plants better get ready and not but out too soon.
OK, plans for the day are not all in place just yet, so while I’m working on the plan, you all have a great one, and more later.

Wisconsin girl and now prominent attorney, Clarice Feldman, is always entertaining at American Thinker:

As you may recall Schrodinger’s cat is a quantum physics paradox in which hypothetically a cat may be both alive and dead at the same time. My online friend “The Infamous Ignatz” offers up, quite rightly in my opinion, there is “The Universal Quantum Trump-Grabbed Schrodinger’s Pussy Theory. He is not only the cause of all known phenomena in the universe but the cause of all potential phenomena as well.”

    and this,

How will the Senate now handle this? Will it dismiss these deficient articles out of hand or allow this game to continue? Arguing for impeachment will be Congressional “stars” Jerrold Nadler, Adam Schiff, Hakeem Jeffries, and Zoe Lofgren. Arguing against will be White House Counsel Pat Cippalone, Jay Sekulow, Ken Starr, Pam Bondi, Robert Ray, and Alan Dershowitz.

This is as if Pelosi were sending her neighborhood Little League team out to play the Houston Astros.  It’s going to be a humiliating defeat for the Dems.  Just the optics are bad enough.  Schiff and Nadler look like some old, Vaudeville comedy act.

I got up to some good news this morning. Yesterday, I spoke to a woman who was walking down my street with a schnauzer on a leash, calling out the name of her other dog who had been missing since Jan 3.  She had been told that her dog might have been spotted in my neighborhood, although the dog had gone missing from half a mile north of us. I took her flyer and posted everywhere online in lost pet sites of near northwest Houston.  Late last night, she had posted on her FB page that her pooch came home by herself, dirty and lost some weight, but basically Ok.

Shannon posted a link Friday night to this Noah Berlatsky op-ed column for NBC News and Super Dave highlighted it yesterday morning.  It is already being named, a bit prematurely I believe, the worst column of 2020.

Mike LaChance at Legal Insurrection writes:

It’s still very early in 2020, but when it comes to stupid political columns, we may already have a winner. A recent op-ed published by NBC News suggests that voting for Trump is not only racist and unethical, it violates the Constitution.

I started to respond here yesterday, but didn’t and Byron York eventually tweeted what I intended to write about Berlatsky:

    Byron York

Noah Berlatsky writes about comic books, for crying out loud and NBC thinks this is serious commentary.

    A commenter warns though:

    Olinser | January 19, 2020 at 10:09 am

It’s not stupid. Stop calling it stupid.

    It’s malicious.

It’s not designed to convince anybody. It’s designed to start bringing leftists around to the idea that they can strip rights away from conservatives as long as they declare them racist. As long as you have the Right Reasons, you can ignore little things like the Constitution.

Stop calling them stupid and listen to what they’re telling you. They’re telling you that you are not ALLOWED to vote for anybody they don’t approve of.

If the Left ever takes power again they will never, EVER give it up willingly.

    Act accordingly.

    He is absolutely right.

    Ace of Spades also warns:

And for those who say “Oh, this is just an opinion piece” —

1, it’s an opinion piece pushed by a billion-dollar corporation. They’ve moved the Overton Window to the point where this now fair grist for consideration.

2, The opinion they’re pushing is an official government apartheid, but with a target class selected by the antifa left.

3, the extremism of their demands is accelerating. Only recently they started agitating to repeal the First Amendment’s right to free speech; that is now in peril, and restricted where it still exists. Now they’re upping the ante to say that the right to vote must also be limited — and preserved only for the right people, who vote the “right way.”

4, the last opinion they pushed — which the “reasonable” fake conservatives told me wasn’t anything to worry about — was the idea that a man could wake up one day and declare himself a woman, and that I would be under legal compulsion to agree with his delusion.

And now that’s a fact of daily life.

These are not just hot takes. These are previews of coming attractions.

    This will not end well.

    But it will end.

This morning there are about 10 Central American monkey men making quick work of the pecan tree.

Can you draw us a picture of what this means?

OH — or simple English words to explain it?

  119. Hamous Avatar

I’m pretty sure those are all English words. But I’ll try and further explain: the tree removal business has been dominated by Central Americans, mainly Salvadorians and Hondurans, for 30 years. They are renowned for their agility in trees while wielding a chain saw. They move around the tree … well … like a monkey.

  120. Hamous Avatar

Arborists, they’re not. They can butcher a tree and make it look like broccoli. I’m pretty sure they invented the Crepe Myrtle murder that plagues Texas every spring.

But if you need a tree disappeared they’re your guys.

The reason why both Dem and Rep politicians do not like Trump is because for decades, they have told us about all these problems that we as a nation have, and that just can’t be fixed over night. We must re-elect them over and over if we ever hope to see any progress toward solving these problems, most of which are the result of their actions to begin with. Zero told us we could not drill our way out of the energy problem, that manufacturing jobs were gone for good, America was a mature nation and in natural decline, and on and on. We could not fix the VA to keep our promise to our Vets, we could not keep from getting ripped off by our trading partners. We were just a moribund nation just riding it out until the end it seemed.

Well, Trump came into office, and with virtually no help from either the Republican Congress or the now Dem led House, has reversed all these trends virtually single-handedly, and embarrassed the heck out of the do nothing political weasels and leaches that have been roaming the halls of our government for decades. He has proved that it could have been done any time someone decided to do it, but they would rather have the problem kicked on down the road to further their own political ambitions than to actually take steps to solve it.

They have been exposed, and they don’t like it one bit. The only thing standing between Trump and the exit is we, the people. We, the people, must take care of our civic duty to vote for responsible government. At all levels. And if someone is not doing their job, at whatever level of government, and of whatever party, kick them out. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen our choices o clearly polarized that we could tell the difference. The primaries are coming up in just a few weeks, so educate yourself on the candidates, talk to your friends and neighbors, find out what’s going on, and vote. Just my $.02

Just went out with a utility dustpan/scoop and scraped it all up and dumped into large plastic dog food sacks. Shame that we are not getting the number of hungry birds we used to. Pigeons in particular rarely come any more. Could be the large rottweiller (or similar breed) next door. That neighbor’s grown son has returned to live with his parents for the 2nd time due to aftermath of being ill. Bringing his 80 lb dog. Poor thing is currently on a short chain in the back yard. I guess the parents finally absorbed the message everyone on the block gave them the last time that dog was living in their back yard and got out a number of times. It was very aggressive with strangers. On several occasions before, it knocked boards out of the fence between us and got into our back yard.
