Life Magazine published Drama of Life Before Birth in 1965 and the issue was such a sensation it sold out in about two days.  Swedish photographer Lennart Nilsson also released his book A Child Is Born in the same year.  The book is still in print and had been published in over 20 languages.

In 1965, Swedish photojournalist Lennart Nilsson published what was to become one of the most successful photographic book of all time – A Child is Born. From the first ovary fecundation to the last stage of fetal development, the book documents the birth of a new human being in beautiful detail. With millions of copies sold, the book, now in its fourth edition, was also included aboard the NASA probes Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 – the first man made objects set to leave our solar system.

and,

You might be asking yourself how in the world did Nilsson manage to put a camera in the womb – the sad truth is Nilsson actually photographed abortus material obtained from women who terminated their pregnancies under the liberal Swedish law. Working with dead embryos allowed Nilsson to experiment with lighting, background and positions, such as placing the thumb into the fetus’ mouth. Ironically or not, pro-life activists of the 1960s and 1970s appropriated these images and used them in their campaigns.

I see no irony in knowing these photos are of aborted children.  In fact, I think it makes the message of human life in the womb even more powerful.  Those poor children killed before birth at least served a noble purpose in bringing these images to mankind.

Lennart Nilsson went on to create in 1982 the film Miracle of Life using this time new microimagery techniques he developed to capture images of living babies in the womb.  He produced a sequel Life’s Greatest Miracle for PBS’s Nova program in 2001.  Both proved to be among the most popular programs ever televised by PBS.

Morning gang. What a sight to wake up to this morning. The miracle of life to begin with, and then the even more spectacular miracle of human life. The Dems are always working to over turn our constitutional rights as they stand in the way of their desire for power over the people, and many of these chinks in the armor appear all over – the right to life being one of the most important issues that they disagree with – unless you are a serial murderer or a cop killer or something like that. Then you see what they are trying to do to restrict free speech, free practice of your religion, freedom to protect yourself from criminals and government over reach, and right on down the line. Soon you should be able to establish a pattern where it becomes apparent that they are not interested in having the people govern themselves, that the Constitution was written by a bunch of old white slave owners and is out of date, etc. OK, that’s far enough now.

38 degrees here this morning. Still damp, but above freezing. Have a great day, and more later.

Ammo Grrrll is up early this morning, so it must be Friday somewhere. https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2020/01/thoughts-from-the-ammo-line-307.php
But it’s still no high school football Friday, but maybe we will get a Flarada Man Friday before the day is done. That means of course that tomorrow will not be a college football Saturday. I always go through withdrawal when football season ends, and for my purposes, football is over until around the first of September.

OK, back to discovering the news of the day. More later.

I just went back and checked out Texpat’s #29, yesterday about the AR-15’s split receiver, that makes it impervious to federal regulation when it is bought and sold piece by piece. Very interesting article and I’ve heard of this defense before, I just didn’t know that it was so successful. It just shows you that all “Gun Laws” are basically useless. They are designed to hinder and aggravate the law abiding folks into just giving up, and not having any weapon to keep them out of trouble. AND the Gun Grabbers know this, but they think that it is a necessary evil, to get the guns away from everyone,….well, except the crooks of course.

Son-in-law John works about 80 hours a week.  When quarterly earnings reports roll around, I don’t think he sleeps at all.  He doesn’t smoke, drink, gamble or take drugs and he is good about regular medical attention, but I still worry he doesn’t get enough rest.  John only has time to make it to the gym once a week and he plays hockey about the same frequency if he’s not traveling.  There are a thousand people on the street who would take his job in a second.  The pressure to perform is tremendous and merciless.

    The local news had this story, just now;

The Second-Biggest Diamond in History Has a New Owner.

Louis Vuitton has won all 1,758 carats of the Sewelo diamond.

I guess that this was just to fill up time? The story about the Dale County man, in prison for 3 years, for killing his wife 20 years ago, and being found innocent has played out. I happened to see WTVY and WDHN, interviewing him and his lawyer, on the Courthouse steps. He seriously needs to get a make-up gal to fix his mop of grey hair.

The largest rough diamond discovered since 1905, the 1,758-carat Sewelo, was revealed with great fanfare last April, named in July and then largely disappeared from view. Now it has resurfaced with a new owner — and it’s not a name you might expect.

It is not, for example, Jeff Bezos, the richest man in the world, on the hunt for a trophy asset. It is not a royal family, searching for a centerpiece for a new tiara. It is not the De Beers Group, who could be seen as the creator of the diamond market and owner of the Millennium Star diamond, which, uncut, was a 770-carat stone.

It is not even the diamond specialist Graff, the owner of the Graff Lesedi La Rona, a 302.37-carat diamond that is the world’s largest emerald-cut sparkler.

It is Louis Vuitton — the luxury brand better known for its logo-bedecked handbags than its mega-gems, which has been present on Place Vendôme, the heart of the high jewelry market, for less than a decade.

The boy called last night as he was driving back from one of his stores in Paso Robles, he had spent the night in San Luis Obispo, where another one of his is. We talked for an hour and a half. He was heading down through the mountains, this time instead of the coast. He loves the drive and even though his Hot-Rod Mercedes has lots of get up and go, it just doesn’t have the raw power that his Cadillac had. They’re going to name the Manager of the year, for the Houston area and he has been invited, (not uncommon for a new AVP, to go back to their old home). Two of his best friends will be involved in the presentation, so he’s excited about that, also his girls and a couple of friends kids will get to play together, during the Super Bowl party they’re having….So, Life is Good in the boy’s world.

This isn’t the first time it’s been said, but it can’t be stated enough.

“When it comes to their own families,” the authors discovered, “California elites with kids overwhelmingly ‘live right’ in private, giving their children the benefit of growing up in a two-parent family.”

Wilcox and Wang reveal granular data showing “that some of the most elite neighborhoods in the state — including several in Hollywood and San Francisco — have virtually no single parents.”

This is a far bigger story than Hollywood’s message vs. Hollywood’s lifestyle, of course. Across the country, Americans in the upper class are much more likely to profess liberalized teachings on family and marriage while personally practicing conservative family values. Wilcox and Wang just happened to get the data for California.

Among Californians aged 18-50, the college-educated were far more likely than those with no college degree (85% to 69%) to agree that we should celebrate the diversity of family structures, including single parenthood, unmarried parents, and other alternative family structures. The college-educated were specifically far more cheerful toward single motherhood.

    but know this,

Here’s the dagger: More laissez faire personal views seemed to have a greater destabilizing effect on the working class than they did on the elites.

That is, “58% of those who agree with the statement are in intact marriages, compared with 36% of the parents who do not.”

This slice of the working class is where you see the negative effects of liberal cultural ideology. They buy into what elite culture, including Hollywood, is selling. And they suffer for it.

I’ll be heading off soon to fill my arms with smiles and giggles. Li’l Darlin’ has a party to celebrate her fifth birthday, and my SIL has his birthday this weekend.

It’ll be a long trip, since I didn’t get much sleep last night. I have to stop in Bryan to meet a new tenant and handle some paperwork, mebbe show the second vacancy now that the tenant from Hell is gone. Then I’ll hit the road again.

May have to stop and take a power nap somewhere along the way; we’ll see. I actually function quite well on little sleep, having practiced this for years.

So I should sleep well tonight, even if I’m not in my own bed. Maybe not, since I look forward to my wake-up call, usually from LD2 these days. Sunshine doesn’t seem interested in cuddling with Nona. There are times I wake up, anticipating the small voice saying “Nona! It’s time to wake up! The sun is here!”

    This is pretty amazing.

Several days ago, Trump’s campaign manager Brad Parscale posted statistics from last week’s rally held in Toledo, OH, which showed that 43% of attendees identified as either Democratic or Independent. I called that figure “stunning” in a recent post.

But the same statistic from Trump’s Tuesday night rally in Wisconsin can only be described as staggering. 57.8% of registrants identified as either Democratic or Independent.

Obviously, as a conservative, I am overjoyed at these numbers. I take them to mean that this group is looking for an alternative to the current field of candidates running for the Democratic presidential nomination.

My little five foot two white woman wife bout went YouTube rogue on a Magnolia cop yesterday. He pulled her over after going through a traffic light, no violations he said he ran her plate and showed she had no insurance. Of course she didn’t have her proof of insurance card with her so she was trying to get it pulled up on her phone but he got impatient and they quickly began to not get along at all, the more a-hole he got, she responded in kind ( I have been on the receiving end of this and it ain’t nice). He came back from his car, said he found it, she has a policy with Progressive. Well, she should have left well enough alone and been on her merry way but there was a battle to be fought now, she informs him her policy is with Geico and never has had a policy with Progressive. She ends up with a ticket but this one ain’t over. 😀

1936 GMC Streamliners Parade of Progress Trucks

None of these survived to my knowledge. These were the first group of purpose built GMC liners to showcase GM products and hit the road in ’36, ’37, and ’38 (as far as I know). These really interesting trucks that just reek of Art Deco design. Very cool, and very much out of the light for most as many think that the Futurliner was the first Parade of Progress trucks – which they were not.

I live in the southbound approach path, 2.8 miles north of the Teterboro Airport runway in New Jersey.  It’s the busiest general aviation airport in North America with Love Field at #3 and Hobby at #5.

With Newark Airport 15.5 miles SSW, LaGuardia Airport 16 miles SE, JFK Airport 31 miles SE and Westchester Airport 31 miles NE (#2 busiest general aviation) the skies here can get very crowded, especially between 4 and 7 PM.  I can look up on a clear day and see as many as 6 to 8 aircraft stacked at different altitudes flying in all directions at any given moment.

I keep those air traffic controllers in my prayers.  If a plane in trouble around here can’t land on the Hudson River like Sully did, it’s going to be very deadly given the population density.

Does Florida Woman know you’re not allowed to meet your husband/boyfriend/lover at the gate anymore? It’s a shame, I know. Because if there’s one thing better than being greeted at the door by someone wearing nothing but a smile, it’s being greeted at the gate after a long flight by someone wearing nothing but a smile. And a couple of garters.

    Er, so I would assume.

That aside, in total fairness to Florida Woman, she is far more attractive than most of the people who insist on getting naked in public.

BONUS: She’s not actually from Florida, but Florida’s powers are so strong that anyone can become Florida Woman or Florida Man within minutes of arriving in the Sunshine State. True story.

South Korea-based ENF Kyle Technology is bringing its 25-acre, 75000 square foot site to the Plum Creek community at 1550 Kohlers Crossing.

The company is expected to begin hiring 45 to 50 employees to fill a variety of positions and levels in the second half of 2020, according to a release.

I recently drove through KyleBuda. Couldn’t believe my eyes.

HAYS COUNTY, Texas — Hays County has become the fastest growing county in Texas, according to the U.S. Census, and that’s because of cities such as Kyle and Buda.

These are cities people used to pass by years ago, but now they’re drawing crowds of their own. Since 2010, Kyle has grown 80 percent and Buda has grown even more than that. For some, it’s the lower cost of living and the chance for new opportunities that have caused them to leave Austin and start a new life farther south.

Kyle might be blowing up, but right next door in Buda they are trying to revert to the Dark Ages.

BUDA, Texas (KXAN) — A man and woman were arrested after a sword fight Thursday night at an apartment complex in Buda, according to a city spokesperson.

Police officers went to the Carrington Oak Apartments for reports of a “physical disturbance on Jan. 9 around 9:35 p.m.

Once on scene, Joshua Rothman, 28, and Kelsey White, 25, admitted to officers to being in a fight where they swung a sword at each other with the intent to hit the other, the city says.

Rothman and White were arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. As of Tuesday afternoon, both were out of custody on bond from the Hays County Jail.

I’ve had some arguments with women in my life, however we never seemed to have needed to resort to swords.  At least that was my civilized position.  There were one or two women in my past who might have liked that idea though.

The Brits have a pattern of allowing Muslims to openly abuse and sexually assault young women.

An Asian grooming gang was free to roam the streets and abuse young girls because police officers were told to “find other ethnicities” to investigate, a detective has claimed.

At least 57 young girls are thought to have been exploited by a paedophile network of around 100 suspected perpetrators based in south Manchester in the 2000s. The gang, mainly comprised of Asian men, hooked their victims on drugs, groomed, and sexually abused them. One girl, aged 15, died after being injected with heroin by a 50-year-old man.

Following a two-year inquiry, commissioned by Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham, into the historic failings of police and social workers, a report was published today which concluded that vulnerable girls in care were groomed and abused in “plain sight”.
