Mornin’ Gang
Haha, that’s funny! These people deserve each other.
Second!
I have a new Disc Harrow coming this morning. The old one is so worn out that you could use it to aerate your lawn. The discs are worn down to about 8″ in diameter. I arrived over here, in mid May, too late to have any semblance of a garden but I was determined to have a Fall, turnip patch. Normally you would plant on Labor Day, with tilling the soil done weeks earlier but I’ll have to be tough and do it all at once.
When I started looking at disc, Tractor Supply and Rural King had some wimpy, light weight ones that wouldn’t plow the really rough stuff without going over it several times. These were priced at $1400 and $1000 bucks. So, I went to the source, Brown Manufacturing over at Browns Crossroads, they have been making the finest farm equipment in the SE for many years, everything they make is heavy duty. The smallest disc that they make has 16, 20″ blades, 1/4 inch thick and it weighs 1095 pounds. Retail price, $2775 and worth every penny but since I was at the factory they’d sell it for $2100. This one was a little heavy for a 25 HP tractor and was 6 ½ feet wide, I pretty much figured that I’d get it but I wanted to see what the Kubota place had since they have a Land Pride brand, that is heavy duty and owned by Kubota. Come to find out the LP brand was $1750 for a 5 ½, @ 630 pounds. But I was in luck, because for their Labor Day sale they bought train car load of end-of-year, discs at a good price and they’re better quality than the Land Pride for $1100 bucks. 5½ wide 18″ discs, @ 750 pounds. Also they’re hot dipped Galvanized. Finally you’ll never guess where they’re made,…..Beaumont Texas!
You can take those old disks plug the center hole, and make some fine outdoor woks for frying over the blowtorch.
My #3, the Labor Day Sale included a 26 pound bag of Deer Plot Seed, so I got a bag of seeds for $1141.25 and they gave me a set of Discs. 😉
A nice 65 here this morning after the weak cold front moved through with highs in the low 90’s. I’ll take it.
1957 GMC 100 Series Fleet Option Stepside Pickup
Yesterday, I posted a photo essay and story on the 1957 GMC Palomino 100 series prototype one-off build. Today, my post goes to the least expensive and most plain truck that GMC offered in ’57; the Fleet Option. This photo is an original GMC product photo, but it has been expertly colorized from the original GMC factory black and white image.
Caravan Of Liberal Americans Makes Way Toward Socialist Paradise Of Venezuela.
MEXICO—A migrant caravan full of leftists desiring to enter the socialist paradise of Venezuela departed the United States Thursday and began marching toward through Mexico, stating they will demand asylum so they might experience the far better life that socialism offers.
The migrants claim they are leaving America because of its high standards of living, strong economy, and record employment numbers, and hope to find a better life in Venezuela’s much more equitable system.
“Everyone there has the same quantity of possessions and food,” said one marcher. “Everyone makes millions of dollars, and very few people work. It’s a real paradise.” The refugees have complex motivations, but the vast majority simply want to see everything socialism has to offer after suffering the amazing benefits of capitalism for too long.

The line at DPS in Rosenberg is much shorter than the last time I got here this early. Eldest boy lost his permit… again. The beatings with wet noodles will commence after school today on the front lawn.
When my daughter was in middle school, the phrase “Awkward!” was quite the thing. It looks like it should be resurrected.
An American Airlines mechanic was arrested Thursday on a sabotage charge accusing him of disabling a navigation system on a flight with 150 people aboard before it was scheduled to take off from Miami International Airport earlier this summer.
The reason, according to a criminal complaint affidavit filed in Miami federal court: Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed Alani, a veteran employee, was upset over stalled union contract negotiations.
None of the passengers and crew on the flight to Nassau were injured because the tampering with the so-called air data module caused an error alert as the pilots powered up the plane’s engines on the runway July 17, according to a criminal complaint affidavit filed in Miami federal court.

Young, talented, beautiful country singer, Kylie Rae Harris, was killed in a three car wreck on a mountain highway near Taos, New Mexico. She leaves behind a six year old daughter.
The high here today is only 69 and cloudy. I’m actually going to put on a pair of long pants for the day. That is not a good sign. Summer is not even over yet.
Wegmans, Walgreens, and CVS all banned open carry in their stores on Thursday, following the same gun policy change from Walmart and Kroger the day before.
I would personally never open carry, but I fully support those that wish to do so. Not once have I ever seen the gun a person is carrying openly jump out of its holster and start firing. Link here.
#13 The Taos News says that the father of the 16 yr old killed in the auto accident works for the local fire and rescue and he responded to his daughter’s accident. I pray that he had a chance to say goodbye.
Sorry no link because that site doesn’t like my DuckDuckGo and or my VPN. It kicked me out before I had the opportunity to copy/paste.
Good morning Hamsters. Coolish 72 to start, and that’s most welcome.
We attended the Old Foster Community Museum’s annual fundraiser dinner last night and had a great time as usual. It was held in what remains of Foster, TX between Richmond/Rosenberg and Fulshear, and in the early days of Texas it was a thriving community in ranching country north of Rosenberg. The museum is a volunteer effort of descendants of the original families and lots of area supporters like us. We’re pleased to be supporters.
While we were there I see this morning that the Packers beat Da Bears 10-3 in the season opener, which the Chron sports folk had picked Da Bears to win. It is the oldest rivalry in the NFL. Spouse recorded it so we can watch it tonight, the added benefit being he can fast forward the commercials.
There’s a special gift-giving moment arriving. Hubby has told me that he’s bought my presents already. I’m dreading the moment. Hubby is not the best gift-giver in husbandly history, though he certainly means well.
There was the Christmas that I was gifted with a garbage disposal. But it was “top of the line”!
The next Christmas he was all excited about this huge box by the tree. Kept going on and on and on about how fabulous it was. Come Christmas morning, I discovered it was full of towels and wash cloths. He was all excited about the abundance of bathroom linens, while I had the mantra of “more laundry…more laundry..” as I pulled each item from its nest.
So, the next year, I took a catalog, listed 30 items I’d be happy with, and told Hubby to buy one or two from the list. I’d still be surprised, but at least it would be something I’d like. He bought the whole list. The. Whole. Dang. List. Noooooo, the idea wasn’t to go bankrupt, honey!
I returned from a weekend away during which Hubby had a car club barbecue at our house. It just happened to be very close to our anniversary weekend. He told me he had a surprise waiting for me. Loins girded, I cautiously arrived home to find a butt-ugly, seven foot tall cross that he’d cut from a steel plate stuck in the ground under the pecan tree near the back porch. He thought I’d be ecstatic, but all I could think of was “Why didn’t you ask me before you shoved this thing in the ground?” Not only was it ugly, it certainly wasn’t in the best spot in the yard for it. Fortunately, not long after, it began to list to the side and finally fell over. It currently is covered with grass. Someday I’ll put it up on Freecycle for some metal salvager with a torch to cut it up and haul it off.
I was also gifted with a plaque one year. This one isn’t too bad, but it did take me a few minutes of study to understand it. He had befriended some guys in the shop across the street, and they took a piece of aluminum and cut our names and a bunch of dates into the metal, which Hubby put into a frame. I immediately got our names, that was easy. Some of the dates were pretty obvious: our birthdays, wedding date…but some of them were more puzzling. I finally realized it was our first date and a few others. For him, that was pretty imaginative. Kudos on that one.
Recently, with the van life discussions, he had asked if I was interested in getting a school bus to trick out. He wanted to load his car in the back of it and make the front part the living area. I told him no – that my desire was for something small that I could park anywhere and drive easily. I didn’t want any big honkin’ vehicle that would be hard to maintain or get towed on the road should something happen, nor did I want to wrestle a big vehicle on any road. He has a hard concept with “less is more”. Hubby sounded very disappointed.
If he shows up with a school bus, or anything similar, I’m gonna lose it.
Jimmy Johnson, one of the original Muscle Shoals Swampers has died.
Several years ago we discussed a documentary on the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio and the great music that came out of it.
OH HAIL NO!
HEADLINE: Robert Mugabe, ex-leader of Zimbabwe, dead at 95
I wonder how much that B@$T@*D likes being in hell?
And I quit talking about my van discussions. Hoping the discussion dies until I’m actually ready. That way I can keep the “no…no…NOOOooooo” to a minimum.
Hubby really is a sweetheart. His momma just didn’t train him well.
But Honey, you said you didn’t want a big bus!
Mugabe..Hell
I listened to a video of two prominent Catholic theologists yesterday, the topic being mainly centered around the movie about the exorcism of Emily Rose, which was based on an actual exorcism experience of another girl. I also listened to part of an interview of a Catholic exorcist, which came up right after that.
The descriptions of things that happen during a true exorcism – and the Church is careful to weed out the mentally ill – is horrifying.
For those who don’t believe in an afterlife, it ain’t gonna be fun.
Unfortunately, Mugabe is not alone down there. Way too many souls lost.

LOL!
I’ve never ridden the “short bus” and hope I never do! It does have great ground clearance, though!
#24 Tedtam
I suppose if you could find a brochure or two on the vehicle(s) you have in mind and leave them laying around where Hubby can’t possible miss them it might help him to get a good idea of what is top of your list. 😉

Presume the videos give credence to the “Be gone Satan” order. Not just something casually tossed around.

There was some discussion of the watering down of certain prayers after Vatican II.
But yeah, this was real stuff.
Just heard that a cousin lost his son recently. We’re dropping like flies over here.
God Bless Dear Hubby, he keeps the bar reachable.
😀
Unexpected thoughtful gestures and gifts throughout the year get higher mileage. I’ll just buy a couple more gun magazines for myself on my birthday. Don’t bother.
And that $85 bottle of Opium every year seemed to be much appreciated.
We’ve got it all screwed up.
It’s the birthing mother who should be remembered on that day every year.
🙂
If Trump’s a wayciss he’s doing it wrong:
The unemployment rate held steady at 3.7 percent. For blacks, the unemployment rate dropped to a record low of 5.5 percent last month. And for Hispanics, the unemployment rate was 4.2 percent in August, which ties the record low set earlier this year.

Didn’t the Germans go through this exercise about 500 years ago?
American exorcist’s interview for a documentary, in case you’re interested in how the Catholic Church approaches this topic.
“Most mental health therapists are agnostic or atheist, and I’ve had people contact me who’ve been fired from their therapists for even suggesting a possible diabolical influence.”
Yep, that’s gonna help.
Most mental health therapists are agnostic or atheist
I would add that most mental health therapists are or have themselves suffered from mental illness. That’s how we ended up with “gender identity disorder” being treated with genital mutilation.
Nothing much good happens when you get a few hundred Germans in the same room to make policy.
I thought last night that I would get up and mow the front lawn this morning, but I didn’t do it. I want some slightly cooler weather.
Rat Boy Turner is sure milking Harvey.

RE: Branch managers
My Baby Brother (the Lovable Lib) was allowed to get his own puppy way back when we were growing up in Pearland. The family already had Max, a miniature German Shepherd, whom we loved. The new puppy, Charlie, was a PITA. We’d throw a stick in our pond and both dogs would run towards the water. The big difference was that Max would dive in, get the stick, and swim back to shore where Charlie awaited his return. When Max exited the water, Charlie’d mouth the stick (sometimes even taking it away from Max) and then run back to us all proud of his retrieval efforts. He’d sometimes even shove Max away as we were petting Max.
Wissed us off. We always made sure to praise Max for his efforts and punish Charlie, but the dog never learned.
Max was a great dog. When we first got him, he was in inside dog. Mom would send him upstairs to wake us up in the morning, and we laughed like crazy as he jumped across the 3 beds in our bedroom until we chased him out so he could do the same to our brothers down the hall. It was so sad when he became extremely ill. I held his head as he died. I still have fond memories of him. I can’t remember what happened to Charlie.
I just signed up for a Trump Watch Party of the 9/12 Democrap Party debates.
Pass the popcorn. This could be fun. The only way I could do this is with others around me making fun of them; or with lots of alcohol; or around others with lots of alcohol making fun of them.
It’s being held at at the Pipeline Grill. I don’t do well around the seriously drunk, so I may have to leave early. If I drank, I think I’d need a lot of imbibing in order to keep my head from ‘sploding. I may have to leave early. We shall see.
Regarding mental health professionals, I wouldn’t say that most suffer from mental illness or are atheist (agnostic? maybe, who knows). I do know there are many who are among the faithful. As far as mental illness, depends on how you define it.
Most everyone has had a “mental health issue” at one time or another. By far most of those are very minor and short-lived.
The real problems lie in a very small handful of therapists and psychiatrists who are out there on the fringes of the field and the seriously unhinged people who for whatever reason do not follow more traditional beliefs and want to be validated more than they want to receive care that would better benefit them.
It is not unlike people who doctor shop to find someone who will prescribe inappropriate medications (e.g., opiates) simply because that’s what they want, not necessarily what they need.
Nothing much good happens when you get a few hundred Germans in the same room

Remember that this from an interview with an exorcist, reciting his experiences with people who have come to him for help. If their therapist wasn’t helping them and the therapist denied the existence of a spiritual realm, this may push them to approach the exorcist regarding the possibility of diabolical interference. This was the experience of which this priest spoke.
I’ve also read books written by exorcists who had psychiatrists and other mental health professionals refer their patients to an exorcist for exactly the same scenario.
The important thing is to be sure that the patient is not suffering from a mental illness. Exorcism is the last resort, after all other “this world” explanations are rejected.
Sometimes it’s easy to identify demonic presence. A family had approached Fr. Amorth about their brother. He told them to use some holy water, and they sprinkled his overalls with holy water. When the man put them on, he immediately took them off and refused to wear them. When confronted about his possession, the brother laughed and said “I’m okay with the devil and he’s okay with me.” No exorcism occurred, as none was wanted. But I sure wouldn’t live in the same house as that dude.
Reading Fr. Amorth’s book sure was an eye opener.
Vegans protest a rodeo in Argentina; it doesn’t go well.
It should have gone a lot worse.

Nails it.
I saw the vegetarian protest at the rodeo a few weeks ago. I really thought the cowboys would hog tie at least one of them.

Well that was quite an unanticipated exposition of horsemanship bursting into dressage competition. Horse and rider become one creature in such competition, which is not classical dressage but rather a similar discipline. What an idiot the interloper was to take on a horse likely weighing 1000-1200 pounds (rider’s weight being negligible) moving with dispatch toward him. However he obviously learned it was a big mistake. 🙂
I always wondered whatever happened to Beavis and Butthead.

Shoulda let them see if they could convince a few toros that they were on their side.
Pyro: I think they should have roped a few around the feet and took them for a lap or 7 around the arena.

Oh, dang, I thought you were talking about your Lutheran church committee meetings in Bellville.
A court has awarded Australian academic Dr. Peter Ridd over AU$1.2 million ($800,000) in damages after finding the physics professor was unlawfully fired after taking a skeptical stance on some of the impacts of climate change.
In a judgment (pdf) issued on Sept. 6, the Federal Circuit Court of Australia ruled to award Ridd “the sum of 125,000 AUD [$82,000] by way of pecuniary penalty” plus “1,094,214.47 AUD [$750,397.39] as compensation for loss” that the former James Cook University employee suffered at the hands of the educational institution.
Ridd was reported by WAToday as having sparked the ire of the university for challenging his colleagues’ research on how the Great Barrier Reef has been impacted by global warming. Exemplifying his perspective are arguments he made in the publication “Climate Change: The Facts 2017” (pdf) in which he wrote that coral is the “least endangered of any ecosystem to future climate change.”

Yea, a win for the sane side.
What a smothering, blistering hot day we endured, with a couple more before us and then a chance for a return to what passes for normal this time of year. And there is still no rain on the horizon.
Anything other than absolutely necessary outside chores was off the schedule today. Bet if I took a dripping wet dish cloth outside and hung it over the fence it would be dry within the hour. Sprinklers are set to come on overnight.
The cell phone waiting lot on Will Clayton is a large, covered, well lit lot. I feel much safer here than the dank, dark lot on JFK.
There’s a beautiful moon set tonight.
Maybe it’s a double blood wolf red super moon. Or maybe it’s just the pollution over Houston.
fixxin to be SOUTHBOUND for more new HEROs!
Yall enJOY!!
