Merry Christmas to everyone out there. May you have a rich and prosperous New Year.

Merry Christmas Hamsters. Linus as always says it right. 🙂

Merry Christmas Y’all! And Happy New Year!
That Linus clip is so cute but isn’t it sad that it’s not politically correct? I guess that I shouldn’t care what a bunch of ill informed idiots think but I do hate that they are polluting the minds of the less informed and let’s face it, stupid people. -
The Der Spiegel reporter I wrote about here yesterday is in deeper now.
An award-winning German magazine writer who resigned in disgrace for making up stories is suspected of embezzling cash he collected on behalf of children orphaned by the war in Syria, according to his former employer.
Der Spiegel said Sunday it had uncovered information that Claas Relotius allegedly solicited contributions after writing an article about Syrian urchins living on the streets of Turkey — but directed donations to his own bank account.
“Der Spiegel will give all the information it collects to public prosecutors as part of a criminal complaint,” the magazine said on its website, according to Agence France-Presse.
and does anyone remember this ?
The German journalists’ union said it was the biggest fraud scandal in journalism since the “Hitler diaries” published by Stern magazine in Germany and Newsweek in the US in 1983.
I was already highly skeptical of the media after the 1980 Reagan-Carter campaigns and election. The fake Hitler diaries cinched it for me and I’ve regarded them as liars until proven innocent ever since.

On Christmas Eve, we christened the new Fire Pit, over here in Alabama. Before I showed up here, my wife, and her brother gathered up the stones and her brother brought over some split, oak stovewood to burn along with some fine split, fat lightered for kindling. With the temperature dipping to 40 by 9 PM, it was real cozy.
Yup, Life is Good! 😀 -
For to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. – Luke 2:11

Oh and CbR, if you’re lurking, Merry Christmas to you and family.

I doubt it’s appropriate to hate all lawyers on Christmas, but I couldn’t resist posting their version of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.
Whereas, on or about the night prior to Christmas, there did occur at a certain improved piece of real property (hereinafter “the House”) a general lack of
stirring by all creatures therein, including, but not limited to a mouse.A variety of foot apparel, e.g. stocking, socks, etc., had been affixed by and
around the chimney in said House in the hope and/or belief that St. Nick a/k/a/
St. Nicholas a/k/a/ Santa Claus (hereinafter “Claus”) would arrive at sometime
thereafter. The minor residents, i.e. the children, of the aforementioned House, were
located in their individual beds and were engaged in nocturnal hallucinations,
i.e. dreams, wherein vision of confectionery treats, including, but not limited
to, candies, nuts and/or sugar plums, did dance, cavort and otherwise appear in
said dreams.Whereupon the party of the first part (sometimes hereinafter referred to as
“I”), being the joint-owner in fee simple of the House with the parts of the
second part (hereinafter “Mamma”), and said Mamma had retired for a sustained
period of sleep. (At such time, the parties were clad in various forms of
headgear, e.g. kerchief and cap.)Via the Paul Caron at Taxprof who has a side by side version here.

Redemption always involves an exchange, like when S&H greenstamps were redeemed (exchanged) for stuff.
The firstborn children of Israel were redeemed by the blood of the firstborn children of Egypt.
Humanity (those who choose to accept it) was redeemed by the Blood of Messiah. -
MERRY Christmas Yall!!!!

Merry Christmas to all!
This is our first Christmas morning without any of our offspring to share the traditional cinnamon roll breakfast. (Yes, I have a keto recipe that is fantastic, and that’s what I used.)
Empty nesting has finally hit home. I miss sharing the tradition with my kids.
Growing up. Getting married and all that. It has consequences.
-
TT: Perhaps soon, the tradition will evolve to where your kids and grand kids are there every other Christmas.
-
Merry Christmas to all out there. Big D is overcast and 56 degrees – no complaints. Hoping that you all enjoy the day to its fullest, regardless of your religion or beliefs (except one). More later as the day develops.

Just got to video chat with Sunshine, LD, and LD2. Sunshine was running a high fever but it broke yesterday, so she was able to go to a movie (“Mary Poppins”) and be able to enjoy today.
LD2 is putting together her new bike, with the help of her daddy. She got a new helmet that makes her look like a kitty cat, so she’s a happy camper. She gave her sister a stuffed animal with those changeable sequins – one color one way, pass your hand over it to flip the sequins to another color – and she likes it very much.
Later Sunshine and Lovely Daughter will be making cookies and lasagna sauce together. The lasagna is another Christmas tradition, handed down from my father.
Oh, how I miss them!
-
Merry Christmas to all of you Hambone blogging conspiracy theorists, SpyDuckers, deplorables and Texpat too.-)

We went to a Nativity Liturgy at St. Elias in downtown Austin last night. Afterwards we walked the three blocks to the Capitol building and took some good pictures.
We’ll head over to my sister’s in awhile to start cooking. Roast, ham, creamed spinach, roasted parsnips, and one other vegetable is on the menu. It would all be very keto friendly if I choose not to partake in beer and wine, however, I’m not going to make that choice.
Merry Christmas all!
-
Oh here you guys are.
Got to see the grandkids wake up to Santa’s gifts this morning, what a Blessing! Too many special moments to list. Three and six, just the right ages.
Daughter-in-law made a biscuit, egg, sausage gravy and cheese casserole, it was very good. A ribeye roast a little later. Can’t imagine it getting much better than that!
-
Oh, hi gang! Merry Christmas! I looked in while I was eating breakfast but then I went outside to rake some leaves. Lost track of the time.
-
Oh and wow, I saw something I really liked seeing. A neighborhood friend came by walking her 2 fancy dogs and saw me on the driveway. We stopped to talk a while and while doing so, we saw a large possum running along the yards across the street. Next thing I knew, it had changed direction and ran across the street and into my yard, spinning its tail and running as fast as it could. It ran along the side of my house until I couldn’t see it any longer, but after my friend walked on back toward her house, I walked around to look for the possum. As I had hoped, he had gone into the back yard through the open gate and I saw him near the old deck. We’ve had 2 decades of possums and raccoons living under the deck and I really wished he would go under and stay there. But when he saw me looking at him, he instead went to the other side of the back yard and found a loose board, wiggled through into the other yard. Hope he will come back and find food and water in my yard is to his liking.
-
I guess I must be that one oddball that EG mentioned. Here are all these stories about seeing Christmas morning with the grandchildren, and I’m gushing about a daytime possum.
-
Hubby gave me a yarn swift and a yarn winder. I gave him a list of things to get me for Christmas, and told him to get me ONE item. We don’t need to spend a lot of money on each other, and gifts aren’t the reason for the season after all. They came as a set.
I may not use the swift very often, as most of my yarn doesn’t come in loose skeins, but I could have used the yarn winder a few nights ago. My skein vomited up a bunch of yarn and it took me a few hours to untangle it. Some crocheters just rewind every skein they get, to avoid that tangle as you pull yarn from the middle. I like to pull the yarn from the middle of the skein from the store, since it avoids the twisting, turning, and rolling that would happen from pulling from the outside.
But sometimes, it gets all tangled up as I pull it out, and the next thing I know, there’s a huge pile of disorganized yarn in my lap – yarn vomit.
-
There are probably several families not that far away who would like nothing better than to be serving up a nice, fat, juicy possum for Christmas dinner right now.
PS – Mine is not one of them.
-
When my skein vomits, I get one of my kids to clean it up.
-
-
So I’m sitting in my daughter’s home in the mountains of northwestern New Jersey and she gives me a gift she bought in a Christmas market in Manhattan.
It was a big Mason jar with a label that said: Pecan Pie in a Jar from the San Saba, Texas Pecan Pie Co.
Lol.
-
Small world isn’t it?
-
29 EG
Always smaller than we think.
-
How do you end up with two female possum farmers on one blog?
/shaking head
-
But then again, I’ve never run across a man who wanted to get up close and personal with a possum.
-
#28 Texpat
Well, was the jar empty or full of pecan pie? Vital detail there.
-
33
Full indeed.
-
The world would be a much better place without opossums and Leftwing jackasses.
-
Small world? Why yes, it is. The last time my wife went to Midland, she came back through San Saba to get me some of their fine olive oil. When she got there the place was closed, so she shopped around and brought me back a jar of San Saba Peach Pecan and Amaretto Preserves! I’ve not cracked the lid yet but I’m betting it is pretty good.
-
So what is worse than following your wife around a Christmas Tree lot looking for the perfect tree? Well driving around in her old Mule, stopping at every little scrub cedar on the farm. And how did it turn out, well we usually go through the lot several times and go back to get the very first one she saw. This time it was the second, not sure how many acres we covered before we got back to the Pea Patch across the road, but it was fur piece. 😉
-
Sunshine finally broke through the clouds here a few minutes ago and made the world a lot brighter. The neighborhood’s been quiet as usual on Christmas with little traffic going or coming. There are few families with young children now so barely any outside activity in a long-established neighborhood of mostly mature homeowners, many of whom like our neighbor across our street having gone to be with her daughter and son-in-law for the day. The family next door has gone to relatives in the Austin area.
All of which might tempt thieves to look for empty homes especially in country neighborhoods like ours. Except the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Dept. regularly patrols them during holidays, and many folks register their homes with the department to check on them when gone. Seems to work very well. And of course the neighbors staying home keep a lookout.

#37 Super Dave
And that was L’il Bit on her lap looking very regal. 😉
-
(Huffily:) I do not regard myself as a possum farmer. I am a possum friend and ally. Might even fess up to aiding & abetting the species.
-
We had steaks for dinner, roasted brussel sprouts in a cream sauce, and roasted green beans.
Dang, I am so full. And “The Shawshank Redemption” is starting. Full belly and good movie. Yay me!
I’ve been streaming some old TV shows. I wonder how different they’d be today: damsels in distress because the bad guy cut the landline; people running for phone booths to call the police; the utter lack of alarm systems; folks waiting for faxes instead of emails; etc.
Yep, a lot of the drama would have to be rewritten. That’s one thing I loved about Columbo, though. He solved crimes via real detective thinking, and not based on technology, like in the CSI series.
-
“The Shawshank Redemption”
About a year ago, I finally watched that movie all the way through on Netflex. I’d seen it often, on TBS or one of those other stations that have 10 minutes of movie, followed by 25 minutes of commercials, but almost every time I saw it, I got sucked in like Bre’r Rabbit and the Tar Baby. That and the Green Mile affected me the same way and I finally got to see both of them commercial free.
-

In the long run feeding wild animals harms them. You are indeed farming them, you’re just leaving off the last step.

AO-C Christmas tweet:
Merry Christmas everyone – here’s to a holiday filled with happiness, family, and love for all people. (Including refugee babies in mangers + their parents.)
This poor, deluded commie. Bless her heart.
Jesus don’t ha-ef to live like a refugee.

Fell asleep – out cold – at 5:45 and just now woke up.
Gonna be a long night! -
Must’ve been that peach pie.

Why are conservative women always the hot chicks ?

Convincing people it’s harmful to feed wild animals is like trying to teach the Left that providing everything to poor people is destructive to them and their children. It’s the same thing. It’s like banging your head against a wall.

Looks yummy.

#49 Texpat
Comes to mind that there is not much difference between making people dependent when they need not be and enslaving them.
-
52 Adee
Without a doubt.
-
#51 Goat, that was real neat and very scenic. Also ifin’ I knew anything about Git-Fiddles, I’d say that was a Bass Guitar.

It is astounding that AO-C ever got elected in the first place. Can’t imagine that her campaign utterances were any more sensible than what she’s saying now. Also can’t imagine what those who elected her were thinking, if indeed they were thinking. What a disaster.
-
#51
Yea.
-
I have a question, what am I doing up this late? Decorating a Charley Brown tree?
Wife wanted some monofilament to pull up a couple of lower limbs and I wasn’t sure I still had any fishin’ gear here at the house. But dang if my old “throw-down” tackle box was still in the washroom and had a brand new roll of 6 Lb test line. Do you know how hard it is to see that tiny line? -
When all you critics stop putting out your hummingbird feeders and your bird-seed holders… Well, honestly, that won’t make any difference to me. I feed birds, squirrels, raccoons, and possums. I enjoy it and they enjoy it. I am not endangering these critters by getting them “too comfortable” around humans. Hubs also likes animals, but if he walks outside with a container of food, everyone panics and vamooses.
-
SD, next time you or your lovely bride come through SS, be aware the Oliver Pecan Co (2 locations in town) also carries the SS Olive Oil line as well as the original shop. The SS River Pecan Co is located in an actual pecan orchard just west of town and is apparently spreading its wings pretty well. My out of town BFFs always like to stop there and pick up selected jellies and jams and whatever else to use as gifts. I’m shutting it down here for the evening. Time to start preping for new years I guess.
-
#55 – FYI, AOC was elected with a vote total of just around 15,000 voters. She get to represent 700,000 with that. Pretty amazing what you can do in these carved out districts.
-
Also can’t imagine what those who elected her were thinking
Imagining them thinking is imagining something they cannot do.
-
#61 Phil
Apparently they can’t. Shudder.
