President Trump marked a national observance on Wednesday for the millions victims who died as a result of international communism.
“On the National Day for the Victims of Communism, we honor the memory of the more than 100 million people who have been killed and persecuted by communist totalitarian regimes,” the president said in a White House statement. “We also reaffirm our steadfast support for those who strive for peace, prosperity, and freedom around the world.”
and,
Among the communist-inspired mass deaths have been the Soviet government-caused famine in Ukraine known as “Holodomor” that killed as many as 12 million people.
The Soviet purge known as the Great Terror from took place 1936 to 1938 when Stalin killed an estimated 700,000 land-owning peasants known as “kulaks” along with many political opponents.
Cambodia under the communist Khmer Rouge killed an estimated 2 million Cambodians.
Mr. Trump noted that many Germans in Berlin were shot crossing the Iron Curtain into Western Europe “as they tried to escape to freedom.”
“The victims of these and many other atrocities bear silent testimony to the undeniable fact that communism, and the pursuit of it, will forever be destructive to the human spirit and to the prosperity of mankind,” the president said.
Judges ruled in favor of Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s (R.) Senate campaign on Friday, ordering the Broward County elections supervisor to turn over voter information by Friday evening and the Palm Beach supervisor to turn over absentee ballots.
The judge in Broward County found election officials violated Florida’s constitution by not following open records laws, according to a local NBC affiliate.

Morning gang. Just checking in. Cool with some high clouds out here this morning. It’s college football Saturday, so I’ll be spending some time looking over the schedule and picking out some games to pay attention to. Otherwise, look for a quiet day, other than keeping up with the latest shenanigans in Flarada, Ariz, and Georgia. It must be nice to be a Dem and say to law enforcement that we don’t have to follow any law, to say to the courts to go pound sand, and then continue out bureaucratic scams right under their noses. Obnoxious, incompetent black women are even more powerful than the legislature, the governor and the courts – who knew.
One of my older cousins is on his annual Fishin’ Trip @ Cape Hatteras and posted this neat Sunset. That would be his son Adam, they’re there with about a dozen men from their church in Kannapolis NC.

Absolutely a great picture with wonderful composition. Needs to be entered in a contest or at least in a sporting publication.

This is fabulous. Needs to be seen far and wide. Will make the dentists of persons who despise Trump happy, as their patients will surely be grinding their teeth after seeing this. 🙂
Every time I see Brenda Snipes on TV I think, where’s Uncle Buck when you need him?
Juliane Koepcke had no idea what was in store for her when boarded LANSA Flight 508 on Christmas Eve in 1971. The 17-year-old was traveling with her mother from Lima, Peru to the eastern city of Pucallpa to visit her father, who was working in the Amazonian Rainforest.
…
The flight was meant to be an hour long. Seated in 19F, it was a smooth ride until the clouds grew darker and turbulence got worse.Suddenly, the plane was in the midst of a massive thunderstorm. At this point, the plane was in a swirl of pitch black clouds and flashes of lightning glistened through the windows. When a lightning bolt struck the motor, the plane broke into pieces.
…
Still strapped to her seat, Koepcke had only realized she was free-falling for a few moments before she lost consciousness. She fell 10,000 feet down into the middle of the Peruvian rainforest.
…
Juliane Koepcke had a broken collarbone and deep gash on her calf. But somehow she was alive. And she would spend the next 11 days struggling to stay alive.
#23 Hamous an absolutely fascinating story, it just wasn’t her time. Being strapped into her seat, away from the plane and crashing down though the thick rain forest canopy, obviously saved her life.
I don’t remember ever hearing about it. Of course, in 1971 my focus was probably on other things.
Guess where Brenda Snipes is from?
/hint: it’s not Florida 😉
where’s Uncle Buck when you need him?
He’s decomposing.
I really hope this nonsense in Flarda results in the cancellation of the race card. The cheating is blatant and criminal, the fact that a black woman is doing it should be irrelevant; just as skin color and genitalia should be irrelevant in any discussion. Isn’t that what Dr. Martin Luther King advocated when he spoke of his dream; where a man (person) is judged by the content of his character and not by the color of his skin. . . . .
#24 Super Dave
Agree this is a most remarkable story. And as you said, that she survived surely was because it was not her time to pass into the afterlife.
Every once in a while I peruse LittleBigGreenJollyFootballs to see who he says is to blame for the most recent Republican shellacking in Harris County. This time it’s not, as usual, HCRP leadership. No, it’s Trump and Cruz who are at fault. And the usual suspects are in agreement. They want a kinder gentler GOP. But this comment really struck me:
…most immigrants — legal and illegal — are hardworking, law abiding people.

I think we had, what, three days of Fall? I’m gonna have to fire up the furnace!
I’ve been here reading, off and on, and only just now realized I never chimed in today. I gotta read that story about surviving a fall from an airplane into Amazonia. Whew!
I think prolly falling through all those very tall trees, breaking branches on the way down, slowed her down to where she could survive. The cushion in her seat prevented her spine from being shattered.
Still, an absolute miracle that she survived.

Florida – Make America Wait Again
One thing to note about Broward and Palm Beach counties – These are the same voters who have elected Alcee Hastings every two years since 1992:
In 1988, the Democratic-controlled United States House of Representatives took up the case, and Hastings was impeached for bribery and perjury by a vote of 413–3. He was then convicted on October 20, 1989, by the United States Senate, becoming the sixth federal judge in the history of the United States to be removed from office by the Senate.
I didn’t know Alcee Hastings was still living.

Here’s a little story about women voters that some of you may appreciate, and no, before you ask, I did not author it under a pseudonym. Had I been the author, I would probably have been a little more direct – this person wants to give them an out for lack of training or lack of experience – I believe it’s in the DNA. https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2018/11/why_suburban_women_cost_the_republicans_the_house.html

Not a single sentence in that article that I disagree with. Lots of the young wives in my neighborhood are precisely like that. Especially those who are or have been teachers. Really come across as not very smart at all.
Most teachers I’ve met are beholden to their unions. They have no political opinions outside of what their unions tell them.

Yep, that’s my sister. Tomball ISD. She’s not a teacher but has worked in admin many years, me or my BIL don’t talk politics with her. 😀

“Not a U.S. citizen, not counted.” said Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher, according to the transcript.
It was at this point where lawyers representing Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum and Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., issued objections — although they did not give reasons for those objections. The objections were noted, but the vote was still not counted.

The teachers aren’t near as bad as the administrators. The educrat’s dependency on the government teat is far more tenuous than a teacher, who is actually essential.
A recent survey found the campus administrations at universities across the nation gave even more at higher percentages to Democrat campaigns than the professoriate.
I’ll have to find the article, but I read the other day that Google has a new program using the app for Roomba robotic vacuum cleaners to covertly map Google users’ homes so they have an exact floor plan of all the Roomba users’ individual domiciles.

I remember back when the phone company and the cable company were engaged in a death match to see who would control that wire to your home that would reveal everything about you. The power company even tried to horn in offering internet services which never really caught on. Now google and fakebook are trying to find out everything about you, taking over from Microsoft, while Amazon knows what you have, what you eat, what you wear, what you read (do people really read anymore). The real sleeper out there that’s often overlooked is Netflix. Now there is a shrink’s window into your mind, your subconscious, your thoughts – even your behavior and predictibility. Remember when evil killers accounts at Blockbuster were reviewed and submitted as evidence in the courts. And let’s not forget toll tags – think they can’t track your moves and be useful in divorce cases where you got mixed up on what town you were supposed to be in or something. That Roomba is way behind the curve on floor plan mapping, but it might be on to something by analyzing our floor droppings, our dog or cats’ overall health, and the like. But let’s face it, the Flarada Dems even know how we want to vote and can fill in our ballots for us right there at the counting station – now it just doesn’t get much better than that. You really think those little strips in large currency bills don’t know where they are at all times? I’m off to get my tin foil hat, but I may just wrap my head with duck tape . Did you know that duck tape is invisible to spy ducks – I know it works because Phil or someone said so.
BTW, congratulations to Rice football. In losing last week to the team that owned the nation’s longest losing streak, they proudly took the losing streak crown away and now wear it themselves. And in addition to being the undisputed heavy weight (D1) worst team in the nation, they added to their streak tonight. Under the current administration over there, I expect to see them continue the streak indefinitely unless some changes are made at or near the top.

Speaking of food, I am going to be inconvenienced for Thanksgiving this year by the closing of the Randall’s on 34th that I have used for nigh on 30 years. Looks like demography ate it for lunch, and spit out a big bright golden-yellow El Rancho supermarket in its place. I had come to depend on that Randall’s for convenient holiday edibles. By convenient, I mean buying 1 or 2 or 3 lbs dressing from a cold-food-to-go cabinet, without having to order or reserve. And many sides and desserts and breads. We’ve decided to have Thanksgiving at Luby’s this year.
For Christmas dinner, I may drive down to see if the Randall’s on San Felipe could work.
The already stole Arizona, Montana and who knows who many House races.
Once they steal Florida and Georgia there’ll never be another honest election again.–This blatant in your face stealing will make sure of it.
You’re right Phil. They did it. Right under our noses they sat there filling in ballots and doing all kinds of shenanigans while the Reps and the courts just watch in amazement. Why those people were not forcibly removed by the courts once it became apparent that laws were not being followed is most likely because the Dems also own the judges. Corruption at the highest levels, and everyone just sits around begging not to be called a racist.

#55 El Gordo, at the risk of sounding like a misogynist, I have to agree with all their points and it all makes a lot of sense. I think about how I was raised and how my mom, aunts and grandmother lived only a few years ago. I’ve mentioned before that my grandmother didn’t have running water and cooked on a wood stove. She did have electricity to run her old 1947 GE refrigerator but that’s it. Now days, most folks, (not just women) panic when the power goes off and they sure as hell don’t wash their clothes in a wash pot with afire under it.

I didn’t want to gloat when Alabama stomped LSU but I ran into one of our resident LSU alumni and since he is such real jerk, I had to twist the knife a little.
Oh and MS State vs Alabama.

Sad to say, but I’ve been forced to eat more than a few sammiches made with this unholy paste as a kid.

Fortunately, our mother wasn’t fond of the “unholy paste”. She did have a thing for Vienna sausage, though.
And Velveeta…she loved Velveeta and she made the best pimiento cheese sandwiches with it.
Mama tried to make me eat that stuff but I wouldn’t touch it.
I still eat Vienna sausage, good stuff.
And I like Spam. I was surprised when we went to Maui, Spam is a big thing there.
When I was a kid, I told my mother if she ever brought Spam into the house, I would run away from home and never come back.
It has to be something Stalin had cooked up in Siberia to ruin the palates of Americans.

She’s pretty!
Morning, chickadees. Up early (for me) and have finished the sudoku, but still working on my big Sunday coffee. Hubs was heading out for a Dr Pepper break, and I stepped out back too, to put out bird seed for cold and hungry birds and squirrels. He was backing out of the garage and I happened to notice his trunk was open. He has loud volume classical music blasting out immediately when he starts his car, so I knew he wouldn’t hear me shout. So I was waving my arms around and pointing to the back of his car. It looked like his gaze was on the backup camera screen, so it took a while for him to notice me. He had to get out of the car to close the trunk, so we had a moment to wonder how he had done that. It seemed most likely he had somehow hit the trunk-open button on his key fob.
She’s pretty!
The negative image makes her look like that Jaws character with a mouthful of metal teeth, in the James Bond clip shown here recently.

Her son Jordan Davis was shot and killed in November 2012 in an act of gun violence, believed to be a hate crime. A member of the Democratic Party, McBath defeated incumbent Republican congresswoman Karen Handel in the November 2018 election.

Morning gang. I guess I was so worn out from playing all the football games yesterday that I just slept in a bit longer than usual this morning. Things seem to be normalizing and sorting themselves out among the top tier teams, which is generally what happens at the end of every season. The weatherliar says it’s going to drop into the 20’s later this week. I’m going on my Thanksgiving pilgrimage this week, heading to Dallas, then off to Rosenburg, then back to Dallas, then back to SS so that should take care of the next couple of weeks. That means I’d better winterize before I go I guess. I shut the irrigation system down earlier, so at least that’s been taken care of. Who knows where this year went – they seem to be just scooting on by these days.
Been seeing some Axis deer out behind my house lately. Looked like 2 tribes running together with about 15 or so all together including 5 or 6 young ones. They are spotted and look just like a full grown white tail fawn. They are pretty shy and I don’t see them often, but since deer season is now open I guess the deer are all mixed up and looking for new places to hide.
Don’t forget to wrap your pets and bring in your pipes. OK, I’m off to take care of some rat killing, so you all have a great day. More later.

Dems are now for big corporate takeovers:
Schiff also raised the possibility that the Trump administration’s opposition to AT&T’s $85 billion takeover of Time Warner on antitrust grounds may have been motivated by the president’s animus toward CNN, whose parent company is Time Warner. Trump frequently claims that CNN speads “fake news” and that when it does so, it is acting as the “enemy of the people.”
“We don’t know, for example, whether the effort to hold up the merger of the parent of CNN was a concern over antitrust, or whether this was an effort merely to punish CNN,” Schiff said, without offering evidence.

Today I have to start to replace the basics. The inventory of needful things and obscure objects is long and spotty. As I said above, no briefs have I. Nor spare socks. Nor toothbrush. Nor corkscrew. Nor any one of a thousand trivial things that form the tools of life and the shell of the self. Nor things like the photograph of my one daughter when she was small enough to rest there along my forearm. Losses one shrugs at and losses that make me weep here in the dawn.
What I do have is the love and the generosity of my cherished friends and readers. It is more wonderful and more widespread than I ever could have imagined. I will be weeks thanking all but my gratitude is deep and abiding.
What I do have is this small unknowing black cat sleeping curled at my side after our ride out of the fire.
What I do have is my mother sleeping quietly in the next room, her breathing soft and low as her life is fine and bright.
What I do have is my mother’s warm and settled apartment she has lived in for nearly 40 years. Others are sleeping in shelters, churches, RVs, and tents.

I did that once while moving furniture in my boys room. The furniture moving coincided with one heck of a downpour. It rained into my trunk ALL night. It took a really long time for that Odoban smell to dissipate.

The wife went to meet all her rowdy friends at the knutbuster or something at the Gotham Megaplex.
My nuts got busted Friday afternoon when I accompanied my wife. What a racket! 20 plus bux to get in, per person. Then the customary $12 NRG parking fee.
It was worth it though. I scored mucho brownie points. She didn’t buy anything and I did buy a spray nozzle for the garden hose.
Now they are finding more Dem votes where Reps were elected in a few California races. Those dad gum Dem votes are just scatter around everywhere I guess, but they cannot hide from the authorities – they will be found and counted, even if it takes until the next election. I just heard that the Flarada vote counters are about to announce that they have found more than enough Gore votes to put him over the top in the Presidential race of some years ago.
