What a pitiful little man,….. -
The kiddies just wouldn’t listen to the crafty old fox….
But Clinton allies are also faulting the campaign
And some began pointing fingers at the young campaign manager, Robby Mook, who spearheaded a strategy supported by the senior campaign team that included only limited outreach to those voters — a theory of the case that Bill Clinton had railed against for months, wondering aloud at meetings why the campaign was not making more of an attempt to even ask that population for its votes…..
/snip
But in general, Bill Clinton’s viewpoint of fighting for the working class white voters was often dismissed with a hand wave by senior members of the team as a personal vendetta to win back the voters who elected him, from a talented but aging politician who simply refused to accept the new Democratic map. At a meeting ahead of the convention at which aides presented to both Clintons the “Stronger Together” framework for the general election, senior strategist Joel Benenson told the former president bluntly that the voters from West Virginia were never coming back to his party. -

Good morning Hamsters. Sister Moon was gorgeous again on her way to bed, and we had the pleasure of viewing her last night rising and early this morning in all her glory.
On the moors of the Brazos at Richmond we awoke to a comfy 60 at 5:30, and now fog grows evermore dense around us despite a westerly breeze. The neighborhood trees stand sentinel in it all, still with some foliage, reminding one of Mirkwood. The house across the street is fading into the mist now, its outlines blurred. The house across the back pasture is gone completely as is the back fenceline, all in a soft cloak. -

#3 SD: What a classic case of projection! That POS practically scolded Trump in advance for not doing the things he failed to do for 8 years. In just a shade under 2 months that foulness called Obama will no longer defile the Oval Office.

I see that Houston’s very own John Culberson is leading the charge to allow earmarks (often referred to as “pork”) back into House rules. Guess there a lot of that swamp out there to be drained. I can remember back when Culberson was one of the good guys.

Elon Musk of Tesla Motors is an ultra deluxe con man of the first order. So far, he’s managed to con politicians out $4.9 billion of taxpayers’ money.
From Enron to Bernie Madoff, at the end of every great American financial scandal, the totality of the perpetrators’ greed seems to be matched only by the public’s incredulity at how such a thing could be allowed to happen.
And thanks to Elon Musk, there’s a good chance we may all be asking this question again soon. -
Regarding the confab of wealthy lefties covered in Texpat’s 57 in yesterday’s OC, do these idiots not see how they expose themselves and their works to the general populace that just rejected them soundly? Further, do they not see how easily they can be connected to the rent-a-mob ads in Craig’s List, seeking to foment as much trouble as they can? Have they not thought about how many law enforcement departments nationwide now have those ads prominently displayed on bulletin boards in their headquarters? And most of all, have they even noticed how angry members of law enforcement and our military have become by their disrespectful, cavalier treatment from these delusional creators of their own political movement’s destruction? In their fevered minds they must be certain they have a King’s X stashed somewhere for their benefit. Not so.
The insider’s comment about them essentially engaging in opulent merriment while what they have wrought burns down their party around them is right on. So be it. -
#14 EG: He said all the nice things about inclusion of both sides; I am wondering just how serious he is about promoting the inclusion of genuine conservative principles and those who hold such positions in the faculty.
Not holding my breath on that one. . . . -
I failed to see any references to conservatives, other than the implication that they were hurling racial slurs and carrying evil looking signs, etc. Looks to me that it’s really just addressed to the freaks and weirdos to assure them the power of the university will be brought to bear on anyone who might hurt their feelings. Maybe my reading comprehension is lacking.

#18:
So I want to reiterate that one of our prime responsibilities at UT is to foster an inclusive campus culture in which all voices are heard and valued and where we treat different ideas and different people with respect. This is true for those who may feel threatened because of campaign rhetoric — and is also true for those who are uncomfortable because they supported a candidate who is unpopular with others on campus.
All means all, right? That, in the realm of realville where non-academics live, means protecting those with the conservative/right/Republican/ viewpoint as well as those with the scumbag lefty ideas, right?
I really hope a contingent of conservatives on campus will hold the president to his word.
Like I said, I ain’t holding my breath on that one. -

HEADLINE: Obama still might be able to put Merrick Garland on the Supreme Court
/snip
But Democrats never give up, and President Obama may have a unique opportunity when the Senate goes into recess. Under the law, when the Congress is in recess for at least ten days, the President can make what’s called recess appointments.Under the Constitution and Supreme Court precedent, a president may make a recess appointment – including one to the Supreme Court – but only if the Senate is in a recess that lasts at least ten days. If the Senate reassembles more frequently than that, but does no business other than formally opening and closing a session, that still interrupts the opportunity for a recess appointment to any federal post.
Once the Senate has recessed this year’s session for the final time, in late December, the Garland nomination – if not acted upon – would be returned to the White House.
But whether that would create an opportunity for President Obama to name Garland to a recess appointment before inauguration day on January 20 depends upon how late in December the Senate is formally sitting, determining how long a recess will be until the new Congress meets on January 3.Turtle Head needs to have just enough people for a quorum, open and close the Senate on 23Dec and again on 02Jan2017 and yet again on 11Jan2017 to make it impossible for the JugEared Jackass to have a 10 day window in which to make a recess appointment. I do not put it past the petulant pr!ck to attempt a final FU to the country in general and to Trump specifically.

Traveling FM 529 on my way to Pattison, just across the river into Waller Co., I passed the scene of an auto/deer collision. The buck, with a very sizable rack, was still in my lane and the large sedan (2000 Lincoln?) had massive damage to the front end and windshield. Before I had traveled another two miles every emergency vehicle in the area passed me hot and headed that way. Ambulance, two black & whites, two county boys, a couple of volunteer fire guys.
Be careful out here on these country roads while Dave and all his buddies and hormones have the wildlife stirred up, folks! -

The article is so filled with hype disguised as fact that it is ridiculous, but what would one expect from YAHOO “NEWS?” Why has the earth been cooling at a record pace for the last 8 months? There are those that are about to lose their lunches over the fact that Trump has tapped Romnutz niece for a position in his admin. His niece is not necessarily of the same mindset as Romnutz himself, I offer George P. Bush as an example of not being like his father and uncle and grandfather. At least that is the appearance GPB has put forth so far – time will tell. I think we should keep our powder dry until the Trump Administration actually starts doing something as POTUS. HEADLINE: Why Are Detroit Cops Killing So Many Dogs?
Reason #1 is that too many people have very large dangerous dogs that they use to intimidate their neighbors and so that they can be “the big baaaad man”. They are small people who are usually the problem in the neighborhood.
Reason #2 Is the preponderance of stupid drug laws and the necessary large volumes of money involved due to the illegality and risk associated. If the drugs were decriminalized the money would go away.
Reason #3 Is the non-stop demonization of the cops who are just doing their jobs. That constant drum beat makes the people much less trusting and more abusive towards the cops. This escalates the tension levels and the likelihood of attacks on the cops and the dogs can and are used as weapons against the cops.
Reason #4: Some cops are just jerks and like being able to stick it to “the turds” because they can.
There are probably more reasons why that are not listed. -

Some of my Republican friends have intimated that “what is good for the goose is good for the gander.” At times, this tactic could be warranted. For example, do Republicans continue the Harry Reid-led movement to confirm judges with a bare majority in the Senate? That’s a debatable position. But the argument does not apply to holding a Republican president accountable for ultra vires actions. It is always right to venerate our constitutional principles. The right ends do not justify the wrong means.

HEADLINE: FEDERAL AGENCIES
Tears, angst as workforce braces for Trump takeover
U.S. EPA employees were in tears. Worried Energy Department staffers were offered counseling. Some federal employees were so depressed, they took time off. Others might retire early.
And some employees are in downright panic mode in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s victory.
“People are upset. Some people took the day off because they were depressed,” said John O’Grady, president of American Federation of Government Employees Council 238, a union that represents thousands of EPA employees. After Election Day, “people were crying,” added O’Grady, who works in EPA’s Region 5 office in Chicago. “They were recommending that people take sick leave and go home.”Are they in panic mode because:
1) They fear that their jobs may go away
2) They fear that their illegal persecution may cause them to hire defense attorneys and face jail time
3) They fear that their part in the Socialist raping of America is coming to an end?The president-elect has vowed to repeal some of the rules they’ve toiled on for the last eight years during the Obama administration, including the Clean Power Plan rule to cut power plants’ greenhouse gas emissions.
Trump has even suggested abolishing the agency entirely, although that would be an uphill political climb. Trump has picked a top climate change skeptic to lead his EPA transition team — Myron Ebell of the Competitive Enterprise Institute — and has promised sweeping reforms in the agency that’s long been a target for industry groups and Republicans who say its rules overreach. This sends tingles up and down my leg. . . .

I read an interview with a very prominent epidemiologist earlier this year. They discussed the free rider principle in public vaccinations programs and the interviewer asked the doctor how he mapped out these clusters of non-vaccinated children.

I didn’t realize it was this bad, really.
By Richard Cieply, who recently ended a 12 year stint with the New York Times as a reporter and editor. For starters, it’s important to accept that the New York Times has always — or at least for many decades — been a far more editor-driven, and self-conscious, publication than many of those with which it competes. Historically, the Los Angeles Times, where I worked twice, for instance, was a reporter-driven, bottom-up newspaper. Most editors wanted to know, every day, before the first morning meeting: “What are you hearing? What have you got?”
It was a shock on arriving at the New York Times in 2004, as the paper’s movie editor, to realize that its editorial dynamic was essentially the reverse. By and large, talented reporters scrambled to match stories with what internally was often called “the narrative.” We were occasionally asked to map a narrative for our various beats a year in advance, square the plan with editors, then generate stories that fit the pre-designated line.
Reality usually had a way of intervening. But I knew one senior reporter who would play solitaire on his computer in the mornings, waiting for his editors to come through with marching orders. Once, in the Los Angeles bureau, I listened to a visiting National staff reporter tell a contact, more or less: “My editor needs someone to say such-and-such, could you say that?”
The bigger shock came on being told, at least twice, by Times editors who were describing the paper’s daily Page One meeting: “We set the agenda for the country in that room.”via Ace and Instapundit

As to SecDef going to a woman, I really don’t think that will happen. Trump is smarter than that. HHS, Education, and several other useless money pit Cabinet positions need placeholders and generally they can’t do much damage over there. If it’s going to be a woman as SecDef, make it a former military person who was not socially promoted. There are several Generals and Admirals who are actual warriors who were tossed to the curb by Zero who would probably be excellent. -
#92 – When you mentioned offense and Rice I thought you were saying the most “dormant” offense in college football. For the record Rice has completely fallen out of the top 5 (they are now #6) in the coveted “Bottom Twenty Five” as reported by CBS Sports. I still think they are a contender for the number 1 slot, but coming from behind by 21 to nothing to win 22-21 really hurt their chances. Remains to be seen there.

HEADLINE: Secret Backdoor in Some U.S. Phones Sent Data to China, Analysts Say
WASHINGTON — For about $50, you can get a smartphone with a high-definition display, fast data service and, according to security contractors, a secret feature: a backdoor that sends all your text messages to China every 72 hours.
Security contractors recently discovered preinstalled software in some Android phones that monitors where users go, whom they talk to and what they write in text messages. The American authorities say it is not clear whether this represents secretive data mining for advertising purposes or a Chinese government effort to collect intelligence.
International customers and users of disposable or prepaid phones are the people most affected by the software. But the scope is unclear. The Chinese company that wrote the software, Shanghai Adups Technology Company, says its code runs on more than 700 million phones, cars and other smart devices. One American phone manufacturer, BLU Products, said that 120,000 of its phones had been affected and that it had updated the software to eliminate the feature. -
