Good morning Hamsters. Muglies will appear with sunup, but starting at 75 in the dark is reasonably comfortable. One day closer to the first cool front. Keep that in mind. Our neighbors to the north in the Midwest and on east are getting a cold front today. Push it our way, y’all.

First morning in over a week that the morning skies have been sunny and rain free. This mid-August weather reprieve has been great for my efforts, but apparently many of the farmers had hay in the field that needs to be cut and baled as soon as it’s dry enough to get to it. I’m always aggravated when the weather reader uses words like “unfortunately” or “fortunately” when describing coming weather patterns – one man’s good weather may be another man’s bad weather. Guess that’s another reason I don’t watch TV any more. I mowed Sunday and it already needs it again, but I’ll probably wait until tomorrow to let it dry a little more. One set of twins (fawns) has found some clover or something that they really like in my front yard, so they have become regular visitors. I hope they don’t decide to go down to the highway, but they are idiots. Have a great day.

#5 EG: If they get used to seeing you, start getting closer. Deer make wonderful, low maintenance pets. I have seen them act like dogs wanting to be pet. They love grapes. They will also eat dry dog food.

  7. El Gordo Avatar

#6 I’ve thought about trying to tame them, but I live on the edge of town and this is big deer hunting country, so I think I would rather have them remain afraid of humans. I’ve got 4 nice bucks coming around right now (antlers still in the velvet) and one of them has a perfect 8 point rack, so he would be a prize for a hunter. I feed them a little cup of corn out back every evening, and I maintain a water trough out there just to watch them come through, and they are fun to watch, and they ate my garden this year too, but I think they need to stay wild.

    From yesterday:

Let the wildly spinning not so merry-go-round fly on without you aboard. High time your crabby sisters got a taste of running the show and discovering that not all the siblings agree with them. And coping with Mom when she puts her foot down. All of that’s best viewed from a safe distance.

    Oh, I agree, I do, I do, I do!
Unfortunately, the Mom responsibility hasn’t been handed over legally yet. BCS got Mom to approve the new nursing home (obviously, this process was started without my knowledge prior to my first contact on this subject Sunday). BCS then went to the office at Mom’s current facility and told them Mom was going to be moved. I got the call to come in and sign paperwork, and I told them I was not approving the move until the Powers of Attorney were in place. I feel that if my sisters want to move my frail mother, it needs to be under their purview. I don’t want to be responsible for anything should Mom stroke out, have a heart attack, or be involved in a vehicle accident en route. Besides, their signatures need to be on the admittance paperwork. There hasn’t been any discussion on who’s moving Mom’s stuff, or when. I have to arrange to hand off her records. This isn’t a case of just shoving Mom into an ambulance and driving her to the new place.
All BCS heard was “Tedtam doesn’t want to move Mom.”
And the flapping bats in her belfry just went nuts.
    Y’all pray for me.
PS: The other sister, who will be Mom’s financial POA doesn’t seem to know that the decision was made without her yesterday…..

    Biiiiiiiiig changes.

After spending a few days reflecting on his immigration stances and consulting with Hispanic supporters, Donald Trump on Monday detailed how he would deal with the millions of immigrants illegally living in the United States: Enforce laws that are already on the books and continue to do what President Obama is doing, although “perhaps with a lot more energy.”
This strategy marks a sudden change for the Republican nominee, who has presented himself as a politically incorrect outsider who is not afraid to take extreme measures to combat illegal immigration, such as deporting 11 million people or constructing a massive wall along the Southern border. For more than a year, Trump insisted that all illegal immigrants “have got to go” and that he would create a “deportation force” to carry out the task.
Trump struck a starkly different tone during an interview with Bill O’Reilly that aired on Fox News on Monday night. Trump said he would separate the country’s undocumented immigrants into two groups: The “bad ones” who would be kicked out of the country as soon as he takes office and “everybody else” who would go through the same process that the Obama Administration is currently using.

I’m trying to talk to the admissions person at Mom’s home-to-be. I’m trying to get some answers and resolve some issues before I send out an email. I left a message about an hour ago, so I called back and got the receptionist again:
Her: “She just stepped out of her office.”
Me: “I left a voicemail about an hour ago. I haven’t heard back yet, so I thought I’d call again.”
Her: “When she gets back and gets settled, I’m sure she’ll go through her messages.”
Me: “Okay. I’m dealing with a crazy sister situation, so I really need to talk to her as soon as possible.”
Her: (laughing) “Oh, I know about those!”
Me: (laughing) “I’m sure y’all have had your share.”
Her: (still laughing) “Oh, yes, we have.”
Me: “If you could just wave at her when she comes back through and ask her to PLEASE check her messages?”
    Her: “I sure will!” (chuckling)
I feel for those nursing home folks. I cannot even imagine what they have to deal with on a regular basis.

Some terd in Boston likes to steal Trump signs. 3 from one place so far and he had the audacity to leave a note promising to return. The commentary is almost uniform, set a hot wire and a trail camera.

I remember a video taken by a man who’s Romney sign was stolen 3 times. It was a nicer sign than those “on a stick” campaign signs, it was mounted inside a metal frame. He wired it to an electrical source, and the video camera showed the neighbor’s kid coming over and trying to pull it up. He backed off once he got “bit”.
    1) The left intolerance on display
    2) Theft
    3) Delinquency of a minor; I’m sure the kid was sent over by the adults (I hesitate to call them “parents”). What kid thinks “I hate their candidate, I’m going to steal their sign?”

To me, the most alarming aspect of this is that the author of this letter appears to sincerely believe that he is some how superior to others. This is exactly the mind set needed to commit the most horrible actions upon others. Think Nazi Germany.

I wonder what the LSM will do with yet another smoking gun?

HEADLINE: New Docs Show Clinton Foundation Donors Sought Access to State Department
Government email traffic and internal call logs made public by conservative groups this week offer more evidence that donors to the Clinton Foundation sought and at times received special favors and access to the State Department.
“[Hillary] Clinton and her staff treated the State Department as an arm of the Clinton Foundation,” said Tom Fitton, the president of Judicial Watch, which released 725 pages of State Department emails between top Clinton aides as part of a lawsuit the group filed seeking government records. “Some of these emails should have been turned over to us years ago.”

Withholding documents under subpoena is called obstruction of justice and selling access/favors is called bribery; I’m pretty sure that either would qualify as a high crime and/or misdemeanor.

Paid mouthpiece for the chicken hawk Sandusky claims his client didn’t get a fair trial.

HEADLINE: Sandusky Is Innocent, Deserves New Trial, Lawyer Says
BELLEFONTE, Pa. (Reuters) – Convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky is innocent and should get a new trial, his defense lawyer told reporters following a three-day hearing in a Pennsylvania state court.
“There were so many flaws in his trial,” attorney Alexander Lindsay said.
But Lindsay appeared to make little headway during the three days of hearings in proving that prosecutors illegally leaked grand jury information to a reporter in 2011, a key argument in Sandusky’s bid for a new trial.
The former Penn State assistant football coach was convicted of 45 counts of sexual assault in 2012 and is serving 30 to 60 years in prison.
Asked whether he was saying the 10 boys who accused Sandusky of the sexual assault were liars, Lindsay said only that their testimony was factually inaccurate. He blamed the “repressed memory” therapy received by some of the boys for making them think they were victims.

In other news, water is not wet, ice is not cold and fire is not hot.

Today was a great day for a birthday lunch with an old friend from our days of riding and showing our horses some 10 years ago. She took lessons at the training stable in Pearland and came to local horse shows. We used to get together for the birthdays of the folks who had horses there or took lessons. The lounge at the stable turned into a fun place at those times. Regrettably the stable had to close owing to the decreasing health of the trainers and their parents the owners. So our get togethers were more sporadic and usually around Christmas if enough of us could find a common date and time for it.
This friend and I met at a restaurant in Sugar Land at 11 and didn’t leave until almost 2. It was a great lunch, she treated for mine, and I’ll get hers in November.
Had not seen each other in a couple of years with only several phone calls and emails in between. She and spouse live in Clear Lake at the other end of Houston from us in rural Richmond. So nice to have the years fall away and pick up as if we’d seen each other only last week. 🙂 Regrettably our previous face-to-face chat was at the wake for the husband of another rider at the stable.
Lesson is to not let so much time go between visits in person. You never know when it might be the last one on either side. 🙁

I seem to remember a discussion on jeans a couple years ago, and several people no longer buying Levi’s. I gave up on them some time ago and switched to Wranglers. The last few pairs of Wranglers I bought the quality had gone downhill, I presume because they’re now made in southeast Asia somewhere. So I tried out Texas Jeans (made in North Carolina; beats me). Excellent quality and a nice fit. I would recommend them.

Sean Hannity was about the only person with a wide audience to do a thorough expose of Obama A-Z beginning in 2007. Those who listened/watched beginning then and through election 2008 knew pretty much what the Obama agenda was and who his enablers were. And the expose continued thereafter as more underhanded stuff happened. For that he is to be congratulated for heralding the insanity to come if Obama were elected.
But then, we of a certain vintage knew well who/what the Weather Underground was, headed by the murderous bomb-setting radicals Bill Ayers and his wife Bernardine Dohrn, both of whom are professors at the University of Chicago and mentors of Obama. We also knew who the Communist Saul Alinsky was, author of Rules for Radicals, Obama’s and the Radical Left’s bible for transforming America and a special interest of Hillary Rodham Clinton in her college days.

  38. Hamous Avatar

For that he is to be congratulated for heralding the insanity to come if Obama were elected.

But what was out net gain? As you say, many of us already knew the names of the terrorists Barry was hobnobbing with. We’ve still had eight years of a terrorist-sympathizer-in-chief, and are poised to have at least four more years of the same.

As a guy at my age, tying rebar, pouring and raking concrete, pulling wire, Duluth jeans are expensive but worth it. The commercials are goofy but their jeans are three years old and the Wranglers/Rustlers/Levis are rags.

While studies into LSD still face stigmas, in the past several years, scientists have found potential small-scale, fascinating effects on perplexing regions of health, including addiction, depression and terminal cancer. Studies have also taken on the drug’s cognitive repercussions; “You don’t recognize yourself as a separate being from the universe,” as one study’s co-author told TIME in 2015.

There’s a land that is fairer than day,
    And by faith we see it afar;
For the Father waits over the way,
To prepare us a dwelling place there.

Yup, we of a certain vintage or curiosity knew much. The info was there to be read or heard. And not just from Hannity though he was the most persistent with the widest audience. What those who were not yet adults in the 60s chose to do with that information was up to them. Some absorbed it but obviously not enough. Many who failed to realize the significance of just how it would affect them sure as hell realize it now. And I hope they have learned something from it.
Hildebeast’s love affair with Alinsky needs to be featured over and over by Republicans. It is hanging fruit along with her emails, The Clinton Foundation, and her debacles as Secretary of State. If they have the brains to do it.

My ongoing irrigation project was finally declared (by me) to be complete. Of course, there were some cost overruns, but I finished the project in about 4 weeks, or 2 weeks ahead of projections. Overall, I added 12 new sprinklers and replaced all the other existing ones, fixed all the leaks I could find, got the heads all adjusted for proper spray patterns, new controller, etc. Anything that gets done from today forward will be classified as “repairs” since the job is complete. So I’ll pat myself on the back for a job well done and look for some other project to get involved in. There’s plenty yet to be done.
